  1. What are your preworkout, during, and postworkout supplements? Preworkout: I've tried NO-XPLODE (however, I do not like the new formula), C-4 (made me constipated, TMI, but good info for those who have problems with the bowels), and I am currently taking MHP's Fit Trainer. I wake up 5 am, but I do not get to the gym until around 6 pm. I need a really good pre-workout to get my workout started at the end of a really long day. Any suggestions? During: Aminocore by AllMax Nutrition . I have also tried a few others, but right now--in my bag--I have another supplement that increases blood flow. it gives me a really good pump. I'll add the name when I get home because I cannot remember it at this time. After: Myozene by BioQuest. I have actually added on 15 pounds of solid mass with this supplement. I started taking it in October and I have increased my weight from 140 to 155. I am still the same waist size, but it has definitely helped me add on the mass.
  2. Thank you WannabeH and best of luck to you through your new journey! Hoping it will get better for both of us as for the head hunger. This group has helped me a lot and has given me good insight and support. I finally was able to talk with my surgeon's office today after the holiday weekend. I have to go back on the 2000mg Metformin for now. I started today and with medication and being on this liquid diet I have had extreme gas and not able to stay out of the restroom (which is one of the side effects I have dealt with prior to surgery and was in hope I could get away from"). (Sorry if TMI). One day at a time and I am sure this will be all worth it in the end.

    Peanut Butter

Thanks for the feedback! I'm on clear broth, protein shakes, puréed fruit or plain yogurt only. One week 2 of 3. I did put some pb2 in my yogurt and it helped. Of course the yogurt gives me the runs (lol sorry tmi!). 1 more week I can do this!!
  4. First, not everyone is the same and I have talked with a few people who have trouble going and deal with a lot of constipation. Then there are others like me as well. In the beginning (once I was off liquids) I would literally go sometimes 10-12x per day !! I have to still be very careful what I eat because some things still set me off without much notice ! I have times it is literally emergency situation and I'm driving 70 mph in panic mode trying to make it the 7 miles home from my office and that was as recent as Wednesday. I'm 8 months post op, I have more less trained my body to go in the evening and overnight and first thing in the morning and I eat to accommodate that schedule. If I didn't have access to a bathroom for 10 hours I wouldn't eat a thing ! I would be scared to death ! Again just my experience and not all have this wonderful side effect that I have. Also TMI but it's like nothing Iv ever experienced, I used to sneak across to a bathroom in a gas station when I needed to go because I work in a small not very private office and after 2-3x they closed their bathroom to outsiders ! Yeah, because of me

    Unflavored protein powder

I use Syntrax Nectar and Genpro unflavored powders to mix into soups, broth, refried beans, etc. For shakes and such, if you haven't tried UMP, they are my favorite flavored protein powder. For ready made shakes, I like premier protein although (tmi) it sometimes gives me diarrhea.
  6. I had my sleeve on 12/22. Stayed in the hospital until Christmas due to heart complications. Each day gets easier/better. Last night I think I had my first experience with dumping. After my post-op appointment I came home and had some cream of chicken soup. This went down well. Then I tried my BariActiv vitamins, dissolvable, and I felt so nauseous and had to run to the bathroom. Was up all night, not with pain, but noises in the gut and clenching. (Tmi) I just tried the vitamins again and started to get nauseous so I spit it out. I just ordered Wellese liquid so hopefully those will go down better.
  7. @@Dar200 You sound just like me. Day 1 4 tablespoons, lots of rumbling. Day 2, 4 tablespoons, 2 hours later full eruption! The funniest part is when the stool that is plugging you up comes flying out. Then, on the verge of TMI, chocolate pudding for about 1/2 an hour. Then it is over. Weight yourself if you can before the second BM. I lost 5 pounds in one sitting. It made my week.
  8. And while it's probably a little TMI...I've always been extremely regular so I'm assuming that means I'm ovulating normally as well. I've never gotten off birth control, and I use the Nuvaring so there's not even an issue of missing a day on the pill. I honestly think I could get pregnant if we tried, but it's more of a question of whether I should. I'm just so conflicted.
  9. Oh man, I know this struggle. I'm 28 and my husband is almost 32. We are doing the surgery together, but our original plan was to start TTC at this point. My surgeon doesn't want me to get pregnant for at least 2 years after surgery. Ultimately, what was best for us is that we bring a baby into our newer, healthier lifestyle. I'm working with a 54 BMI right now and I can't even imagine the complications that I would have being this big, if I could even get pregnant at all. And sorry this is TMI, but at the weight my husband and I are at, neither of us are really interested in doing what needs to be done to conceive naturally anyway. We do want 2-3 children, so if I put the surgery off, I would probably be looking at at least 3-5 years before I could have it done and the longer I remain obese, the more damage I am doing to my body. The con in waiting is that I am terrified that pregnancy and post-partum life will be a gateway into gaining the weight back. Have you talked to your partner about it at all?

    TMI?

Wasn't quite sure where to put this so I figured The Lounge was as good as any other place. So...I got a silver frame and a watch case for the boyfriend for Christmas. His daughter is getting married in March and I thought a frame would be better than taping a picture to the wall, which is basically what he does now. Suffice to say he was not terribly impressed with the frame when tape is good enough in his opinion. Happily, I also thought a watch case would be nice since he has about ten wristwatches and they're all over the place so I was looking forward to his reaction when I gave him gift number two. What I didn't know was that he has so many watches because they're cheap and rather than replace the batteries, he just replaces the watches. So I basically struck out on the gift ideas. I finally came up with a good idea at bedtime. I made him feel oh so good last night that he's walking funny this morning...LOL. I'm not sure if I can re-gift tonight but I'll try....

    Any December Sleever's?

Merry Christmas! I had my sleeve surgery on December 18. I feel great! Not taking any pain medicine, able to drink plenty of liquids and have not been hungry since I started the pre-op liquid diet - truly amazing!! One thing though - the diarrhea! I hope it ends soon. This may be TMI - but I went and got Depends because I had one too many accidents. I never know when its going to happen - no signs. Anyone else have this issue? I'm 5 days post op.
  12. So... 4 months out yesterday. Down almost 60lbs and honestly love life right now. Things are going pretty good except for one thing. Every single time I eat and it doesn't matter what I eat I have diarrhea. This has been going on for about 2-3 weeks now and it drives me a little crazy. It doesn't hurt and it doesn't last all day it's just when I eat about 10 minutes later I have to rush to the bathroom and go. It's typically all liquid and sometimes foamy. Any one else have this issue? I heard that constipation was common but I have never suffered from that problem. If this is the new normal I can certainly live with it it's not horrible but just wondering if anyone else deals with it.
  13. Things have changed fairly rapidly over the last month since I had surgery on November 20th and wanted to share my progress. I know that I still have a VERY LONG way to go, but I have been shocked at how much things have changed in such a short period of time. I know some info might be TMI, but I just wanted to share with those that might be interested. So, here is my 1 Month Post-Op Progress Report. Weight Lost: 36.2 pounds Inches Lost: 27.5 inches Pant Size: 58 down to 50 waist Shirt Size: 4XL down to 2XL-3XL (depending on the shirt) Short/Boxer Size: 4XL down to 2XL Distance able to walk: Was at 50 yards and now up to 3.0 miles Time able to walk: Was at 2 minutes (to mailbox and back) and now up to 60 minutes Back Pain: Pain was excruciating and now almost non-existent Knee Pain: Pain was excruciating and now it's mild Windedness: Got winded getting up off the couch and now can walk 3 miles without being winded Washing/Wiping: Had trouble fully washing myself and wiping, but now have no problems
  14. I am 10 days post-op(VSG 12/08/15). I have been vomiting pretty much everything I've eaten for the past 4 days. I've called the surgeon's office and they said to focus on "staying hydrated". I am tolerating fluids alright, just having issues with foods. I've tried several different things, going through just about all the foods in my program binder for puréed stage. The ONLY thing my new tummy has tolerated so far(that I haven't thrown back up) is sliced cheese. I know it wasn't on my program until the 3rd stage(so technically I cheated), but after vomiting soooo much, my tummy needed something. Also, the diarrhea(sorry, TMI!). I get it, I'm hardly keeping anything solid down, but holy cow. Did anyone else have these issues? How did you handle them? Does anything help?

update day 3 (i am not counting the day of surgery) day 1 slept a lot I was in a lot of pain due to the big incision. hard to move up and down. i did not walk that first day at all I just wanted sleep. day 2 i just wanted to drink Water and eat Jello the Protein was not my friend. still very sore. had trouble sleeping last nigh i was very shaky and I think it was due to lack of protein. Day 3 (which is today) woke up took pain meds and it and I have drank about 4 oz of protein this morning and feel so much better. Doesn't taste the best but I do feel better. I am going to take a nap then try to go for a mile walk. Walking really does help! Gas has not been that bad thank goodness! pills have not been hard to take. This might be TMI but I started the day after surgery and it has been one of the worst TOM. It is very heavy. hope this helps everyone. things i have noticed: I am not hungry at all, smells weird me out and i don't like to be around others while they eat even though I am not hungry.

I am allowed more calories I just can't seem to get them in. I can have as many protein shakes as I want, but I am getting sick of chicken and turkey already and stomach tuna without mayo and relish. I'll have some egg beaters today and try to up my protein shakes. Unfortunately, now diarrhea too (sorry, TMI).
  18. Hi, this might be a tmi post I'm currently taking bariatric advantage vitamins... A multivitamin, calcium citrate, b12 , and iron . I can smell them seeping thru my pores , thru my lady parts, and my urine anyone else experiencing this??? ... I want to change my vitamins once I run out . What are you taking ?
  19. Warning: not for the squeamish or those who don’t want TMI. My apologies, it’s been a while since I posted. I’m 5+ weeks post-surgery and things have been going generally well. That is, except for an unending pain from a hiatal hernia (so sez me about the cause, though not my surgeon – I know better, ha!) and some discomfort from eating. I lost 32 lbs. since surgery and 50 since pre-op. I didn’t wanna post here how fantastic I was doing since that would seem to be boasting and minimize the problems for those that have very real problems, especially those not caused by stoooopidity. I have no real complaints except the pain from the hernia. Until today! While this is extremely embarrassing, I’m posting it with the thought that it might help someone else. I’ve been following the diet instructions from my nut and getting lots of exercise. However, last night, my craving for chocolate got the better of me. I wasn’t really hungry, but my craving was real. I did something I knew I shouldn’t – I made chocolate pudding. I know I’m a sucker for this stuff and one or two or five spoonfuls doesn’t suffice. But I thought I could control myself. This time. I used My-T-Fine sugar-free with skim milk. It’s sooooo good. It’s on my approved foods list. I haven’t had it since pre-op where I repeated the same mistake though not with the same consequences. Before that, I hadn’t had it since my mom started making it on the stove. Ten-years-old and I’d spoon out the left-overs from the cooking pot after mom poured the pudding into cups. She wouldn’t allow me anymore. Smart mom. I proceeded to do the same last night. But after spooning the leftovers from the pot, 15 minutes later I had one of the cups that I poured. Another 15 minutes and another cup. Until it was gone. I ate the whole friggin’ batch! However, no side effects and I went to sleep feeling fine. I woke up this morning feeling fine and planning on going to the gym. Then, the cramps started and worsened. I went to the toilet and a few pebbles came out, but no ease of my discomfort. I sat on the toilet for 45 minutes and nothing. I kept on feeling worse and worse. I took Gas-X and the anti-spasm medicine for the first time, the medicine I had gotten at the hospital. No let up in the pain and I was ready to write in blood that f890’ing chocolate pudding did me in! Really, the pain was so bad that I was getting ready to call the emergency number for the surgeon’s office. The longest hour of my life seemed to go by with increasing pain and discomfort. Then, miraculously, I had a bowel movement of boulders and it was over. I don’t know if was any of the medicine or things just ran the natural course. All I know is that I’m cured of chocolate pudding or doing anything so stupid again. I hope.

New sleevers how are you doing

Up in the middle of the night with gas pains had surgery on the 10th I finally passed gas (sorry If tmi) only kept belching prior. I'm getting through it seen everyone complain about gas pain was lucky until now
  21. Anyone else having issues with this? I just had my surgery in November and can't go without a laxative (sorry probably TMI). Does anyone have suggestions other than laxatives?
  22. Ok, maybe not a big thrill to anyone but me, but I can now look down and actually SEE my bellybutton. I'm only down 17.6 pounds but it seems to all have come off the roll of fat above the bellybutton level. TMI? I am stoked. Doesn't take much to get me going, evidently. Also off blood pressure medication (had been on since age 25). And now completely off both Lantus and Humalog insulins. Why didn't I do this years ago? As one of my hero dog people says, the past is the past. Live in the NOW.

    December 8th Sleevers......

I can be cleared as soon as I can move bowels(sorry, TMI)...I haven't eaten nearly enough to have to go...
  24. A bit TMI but I can't wait to be able to look down & actually see the lady parts! And shaving my legs won't be as difficult either! ????
  25. Some stuff I've learned over the past few months. I thought you might like to know some possibly TMI issues. 1. The poop situation. During pre-op liquids and for at least a month after surgery, you'll have liquidy poops. Don't trust a toot. You won't poop for probably a week after your surgery. Go ahead and get some liquid stool softener (mag citrate). Lots of reasons for that. I know I didn't toot for 3 or 4 days. 2. The gas situation. Because these procedures are laparoscopic, you'll have a LOT of gas in your body. Not necessarily in your digestive system. You'll feel it in your chest, back, shoulders, even your teeth. Walk walk walk walk walk. Move your body as much as possible to get the gas moving. Ask for massages from your mama, husband, wife, whoever to help it move. I felt best with my arms forward on the couch and bent at the waist while my mom rubbed my back. I also used a ton of Deep Relief (Young Living oil blend) across my chest to help. 3. The sleep situation. I slept in a recliner for the first week. It was truly the most comfortable... and I slept with a pillow on my lap/belly in case I needed to get up. I couldnt sleep on my stomach for about 4 weeks. 4. The pain situation I didn't take pain meds after I got home from the hospital. Our pharmacy didn't fill it as liquid meds and I could not handle the crushing. Omg. That was horrible. I started feeling more normal as the steri-strips fell off. I helped them a lot because my skin was blistering from the adhesive - that part was horrible. 5. Energy. You have none until you start more solid foods. You aren't hungry but you are also working on minimal calories. 6. Emotions. Oh wow. Bring back the postpartum hormone changes. Around week 3 through maybe 6 I was weepy for no reason. It was very surprising and I thought I was losing it. Apparently, there are a lot of hormones stored in fat and as you lose, they are released... Which brings me to... 7. Hair loss. Around the 3rd month, hair loss starts. It doesn't matter what you do. Eat all your protein, take your vitamins, drink your water. Your hair will still fall out. Very much like after you have a baby. Praying for this to stop soon. It's not noticeable on my thick hair but a friend is really struggling with it. 8. Nosy people. After a short time, people start commenting on the way you look, begging for "how", asking rude questions like wanting specific numbers. What is wrong with people?! Get prepared with your answers or you'll end up telling people you didn't mean to tell. 9. Head hunger. You won't believe me till you experience it but you don't really feel all that hungry for a few months. You will want to eat at meal times but it won't be a lot. You will have trouble deciding what you want because you can't have much of it anyways. This does cause some emotional pain to me but I'm working through it. I'm breaking up with food. I still have habits I fight daily. Snacking at certain times of day and choice of snack are the worst. 10. Everything tastes a little different. After essentially cleansing your palate and system of junk food, sugar, processed crap for 4 weeks, food tastes different. Sweet things are suuuuper sweet especially you may find a love for a new food because it's protein content. I think that's all I'll throw out there for now... It is a lot to digest (pun intended) haha! Dumb, I know! If you've made it this far through my rambling then congrats!!
