Haven't heard from u sense before my surgery. Well I had my surgery aug 10 and it was one of the easiest surgeries I've ever had. How is your weight loss coming?
-
Oh no what a drag - the denial. So sorry you have to go through all that again! Do you think it will eventually get approved? I had to pay myself - $9900.
I am so happy to have the band! I am pretty sore and tired today, and bothered by the chest (gas) pains, but otherwise everything went well. I was in surgery at 10:30 and out of the hospital by 1:30....then slept pretty much the rest of the day.
Let me know how things are going for you - I hope you get a quick approval after this bad news.

Sorry I haven't replyed in a while. At lots been happening.
Yeah, well I deff failed it. Lol, oh well. No summer school for me though. Ima take it again next year, I have room lol. Ive lost about 10 pounds from my dietion, but ive been downing bad stuff lately. Not doing so well. Ima be 18 before I get it so instead of going through aganoy and unnessesary prosedures, im going to wait. Eh, so how have you been?

Aww yeah that would be great. I see we have alot of similarities :-) I have two boys too! 13 & 6. You can email me anytime joyhatchett@comcast.net Im on FB too. If you want we can do a check in on each other to keep our booties in check! How are you doing with exercise. In the last week alone I hve come up with at least 10 different excuses--I need new workout shoes, and pants, Im tired. So You Think You Can Dance is on I cant miss that, the boys want to go to the pool...blah blah blah I used up all my excuses this week so I have to bite the bullet and GO.

Good to hear you are doing so well. My surgery was also at 8:45 and I was released around 11. The gas is mostly in my left shoulder and side of my neck. But I am walking back and forth in the condo and it seems to be helping. I see my doctor on July 6th. I am on liquids until tomorrow and then full liquids for 10 days. I can't believe you get to eat pureed already. You go girl.
I am in North Miami, FL. I just visited my twin sister in Great Neck NY for a week at Memorial Day. I go up every year - we call it our twins weekend. It is just the girls and it is a great get away. My husband holds down the fort here.
Please keep in touch since we are now band-sisters. My name is Eileen, by the way.

Hi Carly...Remember chatting with me a week or so ago? I am now 10 days post op and doing well. I didn't lose anything the first week, probable due to swelling and healing. But now I am down 8 lbs since surgery. When are you getting banded?
-
Wow so happy for you...my goal is also 170 due to my height....i'm currently 310 and my surgery is 8/13/10....i'm scared of the side effect and also scared i won't make it to my goal....how did you stay focused and how many times a week did you exercise?
-
I did it, 100lbs. Now doing aqua aerobics once a week, gym for 45 minutes 3 times a week and just found a Zumba class close by, need some guts to get me in there yet but I think it could be fun, hot sweaty fun but if it helps and makes me smile, it's all good. Family stresses are tiring at the moment, daughter just turned 16 and is starting college in September, son due to turn 19 in September and start University. Life feels like a whirlwind and gym gives me time to think by myself. Suffering menopause too, my word I do grumble! On the bright side, I'm alive and surrounded by people I love and who love me. Let me know how the dance classes went, hope you enjoyed them so much you make it a regular thing x

Hello Shodge7017. I just joined today and my surgery is 8/10/2010. Do you have any suggestions meal plans once I get off of the liquid diets. I'm a little nervous about giving up my favorite foods. LOL.
Sincerly,

Hi,
I'm nervous. I start the pre-op 10 day liquid diet tomorrow. Any suggestions? I already feel like I can't do this.
-
Yes, it was me. My surgery is the 17th too. Did you start your pre op diet? My diet isn't bad at all ; It's much better than what I ate to lose my last 10 pounds before submitting to insurance. I wonder why some people have to go on all liquid pre-op diets. That would not be fun. I have to go to the hospital on Monday for more blood work, pulminary tests and to see the surgeon one last time before the big day.
I am excited to have someone that is getting it on the same day that I am. We will have a lot to talk about.
Take care and let's keep in touch.

I aggravate myself regularly. Ha! I don't know what I would do without this site and all of the valuable information and support I get. It is truly a blessing for me. Now, go do 10 pushups for crying out loud!!! Just kidding.

How's everything going with you. I pray things are going well. Just wanted to let you know I will be getting my first fill on 8-19-10, and I am praying to get a little more restriction. I really have a little more hunger than I would like to have. I know this weight lost is going to take time, but I really want to do everything in my power to ensure the band is working for me. I started doing some form of work out daily even if it's no more than 10 or 15 minutes top. I do realize anything is better than nothing at all. Be blessed.

Hi, AmberK.
Just wanted to say good luck with your surgery this week. We'll be thinking of you! I also wanted to congratulate you on the 14 pounds you've already lost that's 10% of your weight goal!!
Stay strong - you can totally do this!

Daisy, I got your message. I rolled up a piece of deli turkey meat and just sucked on it. Olives too. Didn't chew them until about 7-10 days out, but the flavor gave me tremendous energy, believe me! If your shoulder is hurting try a heating pad. And put it over your chest -- it helps! The other thing that seemed to help that feeling was sugar free popsicles! Take care and get to feeling better!!!

It is so good to see that you have done so well with your band...I am 46 will be 47 in September and was banded on 7-12-10. I am so afraid that being older that it will be more difficult to take the weight off but I see how well you have done.... I know the I can do it too. Thanks!!!!
Start: 233lbs
Day of surgery: 219
7-31-10: 207

Nope not yet. I have to lose 10 more pounds before I can get a date. I can't wait...I love seeing and hearing your story. The surgeon I saw recommended I have the sleeve because I have 100 to lose and he said band is only good for 50lbs or so. So...I love seeing that things with you are going so well so fast! I CAN'T WAIT TO START LOSING!
-
Congrats! I have been banded for 10 days and have lost 15 lbs. I couldn't be happier. The adjustments to band life have been easy. My first exercise outing didn't go well. I was on the treadmill and closed my eyes for a nano second. Gravity did it's job...one busted lip and broken bone in my foot later..I have decided to use the recumbent bike for the foreseeable future. LMAO!! One day at a time.
-
I have been approved and just need to lose 10 more pounds to get the surgery scheduled. I have just been told a lot about the sleeve and people are saying it is better. I am thinking the band will work better for me and have been set on it since the start. I guess I just worry that something bad will happen to me..but I need the band. I need help to lose this weight and sooner then later.
Thank you so much for your time and help

Hi - I am still learning how this all works - Since I am much older - 61 I was not born to the computer. However, I do use it daily for work. My surgery is scheduled for June 15 and the nutritionist Imet with last Friday said there is no special pre-op diet I need - yet. Just continue losing the 10-15 lbs required by the doctor at the University of Minnesota.
I will need to get pictures here oh ick - facing the truth.
I have to go make a calendar of all the hoops I am jumping through doctors, psyche evals etc etc blood work. And my daughter is about to return from a year studying in Ecuador and this is the hardest time of year for me - I work in a high school and have much to round up. I will stay in touch - when I learn how to do so.
Take care
Barbara
