I know it's normal for your period to be irregular after surgery but seriously?? I'm just about 8 weeks post op and am on my period for the FOURTH time since surgery! Every two weeks I turn around and there she is again! I was on a normal cycle before surgery, am not on any type of birth control and haven't been for quite some time. The most frustrating part is the weight gain randomness... I finally broke a 3 week stall, past the 50 lbs down mark and then BAM I'm up 2-3 lbs again. FRUSTRATED!

Before the 3 week stall police come and tell you to do a search, I'll tell you its normal and right on time. Could last a few weeks.

Dreaded 3-week Stall - Info?
Less of Leslie replied to thebionicbroad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the 3 week stall right now and HATING IT!! I am obsessed with the scale and not seeing it move is driving me nutty!! I will not get on the scale until next week. Hopefully it will break soon so I can feel like I'm on track. -
Yes as the others have said, stalls happen. I had a 3-4 week stall starting at 2 1/2 weeks. Look up "3 week stall" there are tons of threads on this! The best advice has been given right here... just keep on going, do not compare your weight loss with others and follow your Drs advice. This is not a race. Cheer up! This is an adventure!

Losing weight! STALL
YeaMe replied to sleevedqueen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is the dreaded 3 week stall, 6 week stall, and pretty much stalls through the entire journey. It WILL happen, it WILL pass. Just keep yourself on track and probably off the scale. -

Damnnnnnnn 3 week stall here too. -
70 pounds is 70 less than where you started! I lost 40 in 3 months but then had a 3+week stall...verrrry frustrating! I did protein whey shakes for 3-4 days & lost 6 to get me under 200 = 199! Hopefully this will keep me going on the losing track. They say to do a 5 day pouch test that will also help a person get back to using the sleeve right. I even had a friend use the HCG diet to get her to her proper weight as she was losing too slowly (she thought) after her sleeve. Search HCG info. I did the HCG diet before I got my sleeve but a person has to follow it to the letter exactly. The principle of it is that it eats the fat not the muscle I only lasted about 8 days on it but I think I could definitely do it now as you're only allowed 500 calories and now that I'm really not that hungry, it would work better for me. I'll see.

First Stall - less than 2 weeks after surgery???
TakingABreak replied to nycgirl18's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I stalled less than 2 weeks after surgery as well. It's common to hear of the 3 week stall. I had lost so much pre op, 27lbs, that my body went into a immediate stall after my first week. I was loosing again by week 4. I think that increasing my calories when I went into soft foods and exercise helped break that stall. -
I agree that the lack of weight loss is most likely the 3 week stall. Also, you will feel like crap while you are healing. You are doing everything right. Just give your body time to heal, rest when you need to!

Arts137 replied to Sleeved Pat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It happens to EVERYONE! Seach the "3 week stall". SUPER common as things heal and get 'organized'. This too shall pass (and you might want to skip weighing yourself every day... if you are) -
Weight loss is slow
Icantbelieveit replied to Autumn Riley Arnold's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
10lbs in 2 weeks after IV Fluid that probably pumped you with another 5lbs is pretty good. I had surgery may 10th. On may 20th I had a 10lb weight loss. Except my weight was 389lbs. So at your weight you shod be extremely happy. Dont forget the 3 week stall you are going to or are experiencing. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App -
Post op 13 days....gaining weight?!
bluesclues posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I know I shouldn't be checking my weight everyday but I can't help it! Just the past few days my scale is showing me a higher number then what I was after I ended stage 1 liquid diet (Monday). Is this like the 3 week stall but earlier? Also, I'm always hungry...been drinking Water and etc. and having my Protein shakes as well. I take a PPI as well...what gives? Will my sleeve be more restricting when I move to the pureed/mashed stage? Sorry for all the questions...just bumming out a bit here b/c I've also had to adjust my insulin a lot and wondering if that's the culprit -

How long did your week 3 (or first) stall last?
teacher replied to Chantel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My 3 week stall last 2 weeks. I started walking and lost 4 pounds. Now I am at almost 7 weeks and stuck again. My clothes feel like I have lost weight but the scale does not show it. Very aggravated! -
Am I The Only One Not Losing Weight?
xenophile replied to bayareanan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm right there with you. I was sleeved on 12/28. I lost 26 pounds during the 2 weeks before and after surgery, but now I've regained a pound. I keep hearing about the infamous "3 week stall." I'm really hoping that's what's going on with both of us, though I don't have the meds to deal with. That must be frustrating. But hang in there! I'm sure our scales will start moving in the right direction soon! -
I am over this stall and becoming frustrated
Berry78 replied to lilbigprsn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's called the 3 week stall. It usually starts around 21 days postop (anywhere from day 14-28ish), and can last for a week or two. Any day now you should start seeing things move again. -
Question in weight loss
cat17 replied to cblomquist0002's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Look in the sub forum "don't sweat the stall stuff"--very informative and so many examples. I just came out of my 3 week stall (lasted about that long too), but I'm losing again, so no worries, you can do this!! -
Welcome. Congrats. Poke around and read the various forum posts. Use the spy-glass search field if you have a certain topic. Especially look for 'dreaded 3 week stall' or about food stages.

Embrace Your Stall And Enjoy Your Success..inches Will Equal Lbs.
TheSkinnyCow73 replied to BluebonnetMagonlia's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I love this!!!!! I had the same 3 week stall happen to me and it was soooo frustrating! Even though we are losing inches, there is something about that dang scale and its numbers that make it all the more real that the weight is coming off! I keep having to remind myself that I didnt gain it overnight and I am not going to lose it overnight! Keep rockin' that sleeve! You look wonderful!!!! -
22/6=3.67lbs per week. The average weight loss is about 2-4lbs per week with the most being lost usually in the first 2 months. I'd say you were on target for being a "little on the high end of average." There is also a well-known 3 week stall period in there and some of us also had a 6 week stall as well. Hang in there. Work the plan. In 6 months you won't recognize yourself...Raymond.

One of the veterans on this forum, ButterTheBean, has this as part of his signature: The 3 week stall.....If you just had surgery and your weight loss has already stalled, read THIS. It's a very helpful article - I recommend it!

OCTOBER SLEEVERS- How Ya Doin'?
TxCalico replied to TxCalico's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's great to hear so many success stories! I find I don't get on the boards as much any more, now that "the deed is done", but we should do our part to pay it forward with those who are nervous and facing their own sleeve surgeries! I'm on soft foods now, and it's loverly to chew real foods again! I'm still amazed that I can be sooo hungry (if I've gone too long without a snack) yet I can't finish something like a half-cup of chicken/egg salad! Love it. BTW, I guess that 3-weeks stall is real. I was losing nicely but this past week lost only 2 lbs. But I know it'll happen eventually. MLH, I'm so happy for your positive health changes! What's happening INSIDE our bodies now is truly more important that what our bodies look like on the outside... And I found an awesome alternative for Calcium: Try Calcet Creamy Bites Calcium Supplement (BJsBariatrics.com). They're little chewable squares that taste good!! I love the lemon cream, it's such a nice change from all the chocolate stuff -- almost like a little treat. There's also a chocolate version that's sorta chocolate/caramel; it's also good, but I'm tired of chocolate after all my shakes in the past month! 500 mg Calcium & 400 IU Vitamin D per creamy bite. Wish I could find something similar for basic Vitamins. I have a bariatric chewable vitamin that's berry flavored but it's SO strong, I have to force myself to chew & swallow it. Can we ever again take normal vitamins? Does anyone have one they actually like? Keep on akeepin' on! -
4 weeks out and scale isn't budging
Jeanniebug replied to lexylynn92's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My 3-week stall happened at 2 weeks and lasted for almost a month. Hang in there. And I agree, eating less than 500 calories PLUS exercising sounds like a great way to make your body hang onto every calorie it can get.
