    Anyone else in a stall?

I had a 3 week stall and that started right around the beginning of my third week post op. They say it's normal and that your body is adjusting. I'm almost 7 months out and have had 4 stalls. Good luck!
  2. Finally.....the 3 week stall is OVER.....255!!! YAY!!!!

    STALLS

My first stall was 10-14 long days. It was the 3-week stall. I hope my next stall holds off for quite a while because they are very unpleasant. It can really mess with your head some days if you let it. Just remember that if you stick to the plan, the weight will come off.... eventually.
  4. I just got out of the dreaded 3 week stall and it was brutal. I was almost at tears most of the time and it took its toll on me but when I broke it I realized that I was being pretty silly about the whole thing. I would of never lost even close to this much weight without the surgery so I was worried about losing what? ....Three maybe four pounds? If you are truly concerned about it though. Which I was I went back to basics. I went back on the liquid diet. Made sure if anything I got in 50g of protein and 90% of my water. If you choose to eat the pureed stuff just watch for sodium in foods it can tend to hold the water and also vamp up your work out a lil. I broke my stall in about 2 days of doing this. Good luck and don't worry your body does need time for adjustments and you will start to lose again real soon. Good luck!
  5. Try to relax. We've almost all been through this. Do a search on this site for "3 week stall". You will see about a billion answers.

    GOOOOOOOAL! (w/Pix)

Congrats! You look awesome. And I love your 3 week stall post. It got me through!
  7. I had my surgery on 1-16, Friday, and came home on Sunday. Really I think I healed quite well and quickly. I saw my Surgeon on 2-3 for my first check up and was down 30 lbs from the first day I met him on December 30th. Yes, I was a happy camper! Luckily someone at our local support group mentioned Bariatric Pal. I've been here daily since, this is my first post. From the day of my two week checkup until today I hadn't lost a single pound. My Surgeon did ok me to move to chewable foods because I was doing so well, but I'm still only eating 3 smalls meals, no more than 3 ounces each and no Snacks, no Protein drinks. I was really freaking out about not loosing, how can you consume so little and not loose at all. That's when I started searching the forums here and found I wasn't nearly as unique as I thought I was, many here had already had and bypassed the 3 week stall. It doesn't make the frustration leave entirely but it sure helped know others walked my walk and this too would change. Today, after seven days of nothing and I'm finally down another pound, I think perhaps this will be my turning point for this stall anyway. I've had a couple of episodes with the food, both Saturday and Sunday I was sick, but I think I figured out the culprits and if any of you have had a reaction to food and had it come up instead of going down, you'll know as I do, you don't want to repeat it if at all possible. My only other problem was I was okay'd to go back to the gym, even the weights as long as I did them light and slow. We went Monday and I overdid. I walked the treadmill for 30 minutes, rested, had Water and then did a couple of the machines before the room started swimming. I had to take the elevator to the main floor with help on both sides of me so I didn't pass out. Not a good feeling at all. I guess a little goes a long ways, this was scary! The Doctor's office called yesterday to reschedule my next appt and in the course of the conversation I confessed my little bumps along my new path. She connected me to the sweetest nurse, Jessica, who says, are you on BP medicine? Have you taken your BP? Well start today and keep a record that might be part of it along with overdoing. This is such a learning process! Every day I learn something more and I love this website, love all the information I glean from all that have gone before me. I don't regret having the surgery for one moment these are just little hiccups and I'll get through them. After all this is forever so a little snag here and there is nothing!

    Stalled! Grrrrrr....

My 3 week stall started at 2.5 weeks post op

    Like clock work....

Thank goodness someone directed me to this site at our local support meeting last Thursday. Last week I saw my surgeon for my first post op checkup. I was down 30lbs sine December 30th. Since that appt I have not lost a pound. I'm at 3 weeks. I hadn't heard or been told about the 3 week stall! Thank Heaven for all of you. I'm not happy I've stalled but much more at peace knowing others have gone through this too.

    4 wks post op

4th week....greek yogurt from light and fit, red seedless grapes, shaved deli meat ham and turkey. Saltines(2 will do it),cracker pretzels because it has no yeast so it won't get stuck, moist scramble eggs, soups, chicken-no noodle, bean soup, pasta fagioli without the pasta, ham salad from publix, protein bars, sugar free ice cream. I make sure i meet protein of 60grams and stay under sugar before giving myself a treat. Oh yeah, i managed 2 wings very slowly. Increasing the calorie intake has broken the 3 week stall.
  11. Can anyone give me any pointers on good things to eat and drink. My weightloss is moving. I did go thru the 3 week stall but I realized im not eating or drinking enough. Water is boring but I will drink it. I tried tge unjury unflavored protein. Unless I didnt mix correctly it was an epic fail.

    Like clock work....

I just hot the three week stall. I'm down 29 lbs and couldn't wait to say I am down 30! Well, that may not happen right away. But I am so relieved to know that a "3 week stall" is actually a thing that others go through too. If I didn't know about this ahead of time I'm sure I would be really hard on myself...and I don't want that kind of negativity when I'm working so hard at this!

    December sleevers

Sleeved 12/16. Seems like several of us went through a long stall! Mine lasted a little over 3 weeks. Thankfully I'm back to losing again, because I was starting to get discouraged. Dropped 3 lbs in 2 days Had an appointment on Friday and they said they expect me to lose at least 15 lbs if not more by May. Really hoping I don't have another 3 week stall between then!!
  14. So my surgery was January 20th. Everything went really well. I had some issues initially getting in all of my liquids and protein. My NUT wants me to get 60-64 grams of protein a day. I've been hitting that plus close to 64-72 ounces of fluid a day. I'm still on full liquids. I lost 7 pounds at my 6 day post op visit and now NOTHING! I started exercising this week and have made it to the gym 3 times this week in addition to increasing my walking! I'm assuming this is the 3 week stall, but I'm only 2 weeks postop. Did anybody have issues right out of the gate like this? I'm getting super paranoid I'm not going to lose anymore weight!!!!
  15. I was sleeved on 12/8 and have only lost 22 lbs since the surgery. I hit the dreaded 3 week stall, but it last for FOUR FLIPPING WEEKS! It finally broke and I lost 3 more lbs in 2 weeks. Now I'm in the midst of another 1 week stall. I knew to expect the first stall, but is the second one so close normal? I know it's not productive to compare myself to others, but I really am getting discouraged that I haven't lost more by this point. I'm getting my Protein & Water, watching my carbs and get about 800-900 calories a day. I'm also working out about 3 times a week. UGH!!!
  16. So I went through the 3 week stall and for the last week nothing! I'm 8 weeks out today. I was just wondering when everyone hit their next plateau. Thanks!
  17. I'm so glad to hear about the 3 week stall here. I was 3 weeks on Monday (surgery January 12). I've lost 30 lbs, but then just stopped. No gain, just a halt. Hopeful that it picks up again. Feeling kind of blue about it, and just the whole overwhelming emotion of surgery and recovery, too.
  18. Just hit my 3 week stall - like the scale did not budge the whole week. Because of this site, I'm not even trippin' If I haven't said it before, thanks!!! Luckily, I'm only weighing in on Thursdays. This too shall pass as they say....
  19. What you're experiencing is the famous 3 week stall. It will pass. Keep doing what your doing. Mine staff started half way through week 3 and ended at end of week 5. You're going to hit LOTS of stalls, so don't get discouraged. I'm eating just a prescribed and working out like a fiend, but I've been in a stall since mid January. Not too worried though because I recently moved to size 16 jean...with no "W" next the number! My goal is size 14 by end of March, but it's just a goal, not a do or die situation.

    Stalled so soon

stalls aren't fun my first, the dreaded 3-week stall was 6 days long and drove me nuts but when it broke it was nice. i just beat a 4-day stall this morning. They happen. i recommend , that if you tok measurements before surgery that you re-measure your self now. you will see that many times, even though the weight isnt changing, your body is. Keep at it.

Gaining weight starting at week 4!

When I saw my surgeon 4 weeks post op his recommendation was 500 calories a day give or take with never more than a thousand. I personally range between 450 and 550. I have no difficulty getting my fluids in as I have always been a heavy drinker :-). I gave up coffee prior to surgery because caffeine is dehydrating and couldn't stand the taste of it for the first few weeks. Ended up at Starbucks and had a Cup and it was nirvana so will allow myself an occasional treat but not at home. I love constant comment tea and the decaf, unlike decaf coffee, doesn't taste any different to me. But I have to drink so slowly that I am constantly reheating the same cup about 3 times. I have a cupboard full of insulated mugs but I am attached to my favorite cup. Guess I'm burning a few extra calories every time I have to get up and head to the kitchen to reheat it. Anyway, I hit the dreaded 3 weeks stall and freaked out until I read about it here. Yesterday, I gained a pound and then another pound today. If it weren't for this site I would probably be driving my doctors nurse crazy. I have learned so much and it is keeping me grounded. I know I am meeting my protein and water requirements and keeping my calories down so as my surgeon said... You WILL lose weight. You can't NOT. So maybe it's not coming off as fast as I would like but I didn't get here overnight and I am slowly learning to trust in my sleeve. I hope that in time I can offer as much support to others as you all have to me so far

    OCTOBER 2014

@@joankrie So sorry you are feeling discouraged. Please have in mind the expected weight loss is 5 to 2 pounds per week. You are at 2 pounds per week. Very normal. We are expected to lose weight for the next 18 months and this is a marathon not a sprint. Saying this to both you and I as i am equality guilty of wanting it faster. I had an almost 3 week stall. But my scale is moving again. I noticed my weight loss is better when I move a lot. I have resorted to power cleaning and organizing around the house. It's a desperate act at trying to move as much as I can. I also have tried to focus in high quality meals. Varied protein and fruits and veggies. I was getting in a boring routine and that's when the pita chips, crackers and bits of chocolate come into play. Remember, everyday is a new day. Today my scale was up 4 ounces. Heck! Who knows? Mater, BM, alignment of the moons of Jupiter. I certainly don't know why because I didn't do anything different yesterday. Except I drank the broth of the chicken thigh I boiled as an afternoon snack. It was a little salty maybe that caused a little water retention. Well I did have two slices of banana with chocolate fondue and they were so yummy.

    January Sleevers ❄️

From what I've been reading yall are going through the dreaded 2-3 week stall...but if u continue to stick to the plan the inches will continue to fall off...I'm only 8 days post otp so I know my time is coming ...stay motivated and focus on the finish line...best of luck
  24. My surgery was 10 days ago. I seem to be stuck at the same weight for the past 3 days. I was wondering if the weight I lost on the 2 week Opti-fast liquid diet plus the weight lost during my first week home would make for a 3 week stall. Has anyone experienced this so early after surgery? I know it's still early but could use some encouragement. And I want to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong. I'm eating between 500 - 650 calories a day. I've so far not experienced dumping. I even had 1/2 cup of pureed split pea Soup last night for dinner. The only thing different so far is that my pouch doesn't like cold Water. It definitely has to be room temperature.

    Struggling

Yep, it's your first stall. Don't fret it. I'm in my second stall after almost 5 months. This one has lasted a long time, but I've already lost almost 75 pounds. I hit my first stall right on schedule...the dreaded 3 week stall. Stalls will happen over and over. You just have to go with the flow and keep doing the good stuff...exercising, eating healthy, feeling positive.
