    NSV (Non Scale Victory)!!!

Good Morning to all my little June Bugs! No one has been posting on this board for a few days so I thought I would spark it up again! I've had lots of little NSV's since June and all were very similar to yours, so everytime I would read one of yours I'd just chuckle to myself. So here's one that I had this morning that just put a huge smile on my face...I have a pair of really sexy knee high boots that for the past 2 years I would have to leave half zippered under my pant leg because it would not zip up all the way for the life of me! Well, to my delight, they actually zipped up all the way with no trouble at all this morning!!! Yayayayayayaaa!!! :smile2: Since surgery, I have slimmed down all over, and not just in one spot so the loss is really coming along nicely. Hubby keeps saying how I'm looking sexier by the day and he can't seem to keep his hands off me! (I know, I know, TMI!!) So, I've lost 40 lbs total since the beginning of the year and 32 lbs since surgery!!! I think I'm doing great and seem to be right where I should be with the loss! People are really starting to notice lately and I've been getting so many compliments, which feels great! Also, I've had virtually no sagging or loose skin at all. I think that has alot to do with my age and my skin type (we have really great skin in my family) and also with the fact that I've been walking, walking, walking! Anyhow, hope you're all doing well! Does anyone have any good meal ideas that you'd like to share? I do get bored sometimes so I'd like to shake it up a bit! Hope to hear from you all soon! I also need to update my ticker and I can't quite figure out how to do it! Take care all! xoxoxo

Friday morning weigh in...19 sep 08

I hear you Liquid!! Mine is on October 20th!! So much for my docs comment "We may even fill at 3 weeks if you are really hungry and healed well enough!" I figured hey that may get me a fill between 3-6 weeks but 8 weeks!!! OMG!!! and I know I won't be able to go to him between 6-8 weeks due to him being on holiday, could suck up to an associate but I'll see how I go! Well done everyone on the weight loss!! I am not too discouraged as I did start at a lower BMI so I figured I may not lose as quickly after the initial weight loss anyway! Oh and a NSV I just heard. My hairdresser (kate) who coloured my hair also does my sis-in-law and my SIL told me that when she had her hair done last week Kate said she couldn't believe how much weight I'd lost and thought I looked great! Also I've noticed quite a few work collegues giving me that corner of the eye look up and down! I had one girl earlier this week give me it and then comment on how she loved my new hairdo and I said "Thanks and I've been losing weight, got a bit to go but I'm getting there!" and it was an open invitation she was very animated in her reply "You have lost a lot and are looking great!" It cracks me up though watching peoples reactions but weight being such a sensitive thing they don't want to say anything! But I know they notice and it gives me warm fuzzies :smile2:

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Hey, I had a NSV to share with everyone... We are the proud parents of a kitten that we rescued from being under a car in the parking lot where I work. Yesterday, I was down on the floor playing with her, and crawling around and when I got up I didn't even have to think about how I was going to do it... I haven't crawled around on the floor like that in a long time, and being able to get right up without any difficulty!!!!!! 63 pounds makes a difference!!!!!
  4. I was with another family on saturday. we were a function together. I was with my mom, and then put on my sun glasses and followed them. I called out to my friend to wait for me. her husband said "who is the skinning women". I felt so great. I was heavy for 15 years and thanks to my band and my trainer at the gym I am only 20-30 pounds and from my goal in 7 months. I think that having a trainer if you can afford it, (I don't eat out any more and save that money for my trainer), has been the best thing that has happened to me. I'm also duing the grouse grind on saturday, again for the 5th weekend in a row with my trainer and my kids. its 2900 stairs up the mountain, and amost 2 miles straight up and takes me 1 hour and 20 min. I'm still having a problem with thinking that I am still obese, and wonder who that person in the mirror is. I'm hoping that by the one year I can work around that. anyway just wanted to let someone know how it is going.
  5. Woot! Another NSV this evening! I went to the Y w/DD & DH... they were going to play racquetball & I figured I'd do the treadmill or the weights... but as I was walking in I saw the schedule of aerobics classes and starting @ 6 was a "Zumba" class!... I'd seen a piece on it on the "Today" show about a year ago... latin-dance inspired exercise... so I thought I'd "give it a whirl!" (my motto!)! All I can say is "Whoo!" It kicked my butt -- but in a fun way! All that latin music made me crave a 'rita after!! ha ha! I was soaked w/sweat -- seriously, my hair looked like I just got out of the shower! DD was incredulous, because it is known far & wide that "Momma doesn't like to sweat!" This is all part of my new resolve to try new exercises & GMIAG!! I am proud of myself that I was spontaneous and tried something new!! I will definitely go back if/when my schedule allows (it is *very* rare that I can do something like that in the evening, but because ds was sick & dd amazingly didn't have an activity, I was able to tonight!) Going to go log in on bodybugg & see how many steps & cals it was!!

    PRGW NSV Thread!!!!

Oooo Oooo.... My turn!!!! Kat18 I have you beat in the age department, but this weight loss thing makes me feel 20 again! I've had several NSVs over the last couple weeks. 1st from my Dad. He hasn't seen me since last December. I got my band last November, so I hadn't lost much weight when he saw me last. I went home for his 50th wedding anniversary party. When I walked in the door, he walked toward me and literally stopped in his tracks. His mouth hung open and he just stared. When he finally regained his composure, he says: "My God. You look like a movie star!" (I have cut and bleached my hair, and got a new makeover) Added to this.... My sister picked me up from the airport. I told her I would meet her out front and would be wearing a red and white polka dot top. She drives toward me and my cousin tells her, there's a red and white top, that must be her. My sister tells, my cousin, "NO, that's not her. She's to tall and she's blonde and skinny." IT WAS ME!!! My hubby called me yesterday and told me that he wanted me to go out shopping this weekend for a fantastic outfit. We have been invited to a very posh and elegant party. Okay..... Then he says, "I've always wanted to see you in a little black dress. with pearls. (He bought these over the summer for my birthday)Get some sexy black pumps and black hose. Simple elegance. I want everyone to see what a trophy wife I have, and those rich bastards can eat their hearts out!" I couldn't stop grinning. My eyes are tearing up just thinking about what he said!! My oldest son is moving out of our house in the next week or two. My husband told me that his first purchase upon exit was going to be a blow up baby pool. ?????? WHAT?????? What for, I ask? He goes on to tell me he wants to put it in the middle of the living room in front of the fireplace and put Astroglide all in it and roll all over me in the firelight...... *GASP* Me?????? He says he wants to start having some REAL fun with his new wife...... *blushing*........ From where we were two years ago in our marriage, this is like a dream come true for me!! (I also can't beleive I told you all about this.....)
  7. You know I've always been a one bone kind a gal too!!! One just One! You're good with the exercise, I'm good with the eating... let's just make one person out of us and we'll be successful! We could be the Sheldee~ That's great!!! I had the same thing today! I bought a pair of jeans from Old Navy online. It was during their big jean sale, $9.99 a pair. I got some really cute ones! BUT they are all huge on me!!! Yikes! Really huge! I can pull them off and on without unbuttoning them! Size 22! AND I started at size 32! Don't you love it! I can't believe you're wearing a 12! Mountain, hill, ant hill -- it's all an achievement! AND something to be proud of!! Congrats! that's a great NSV!

    Any locals?

NSV alert ---> I fit into an XL!!!! I knew I needed a new coat this year, and I want something WARM. So I was eyeing an LL Bean down coat. They are much more expensive in Women's sizes, so I was hoping that maybe, just maybe, I could squeeze into an XL. I was reluctant to spend $100 to try it though, so I got this one off of Ebay before making the investment.... L.L Bean Crimson Insulated Quilted Barn Jacket coat XL - eBay (item 300257064951 end time Sep-15-08 10:11:15 PDT) And, it fits!!! A little tight in the belly, but not too bad. By cold weather it should do just fine. I'm so excited. I haven't been in Misses sizes since college when I lost a lot of weight for a few months. Woohoo! I know I'm nowhere near XL in regular clothing. But I'm still excited. It's not an ugly, freezing cold Woman Within coat!

Personal challenge between HP and D!!!

power is back on!!!! NSV............jeans that are fitted and button, and are levi's.....I cant believe I was in a size 30/32 at the begining of 2007...wow.....I love new jeans.......they make me want to work harder.....yippyyyy
  10. Jaime - I got fills that were a few months apart. This worked for me (especially since I had to travel to get them) because I had to "adjust" myself...and also knowing FOR SURE that I needed a fill. I've lost a decent amount of weight. A little slower than others, but it's not a race, it's life! You don't HAVE TO get a fill anyway, it just helps the tool to work better. Just take your time and PLAN on a few fills the first year - you'll be fine and we're here for support. Brandy - thinking/praying for you and your DH...even way up here! Maybe the Northern Lights ARE majical?! Mini - that's just WAY COOL that you've been chosen. You should be very proud of how you've coped with this terrible disease in your life. I'm not sure I could be so graceful. Now: the boobs - I, too, have breast cancer in my near maternal side, but breast tissue changes so rapidly that I wouldn't get myself all worked up about it - because that can cause tissue changes too! The neighbors - this is going to sound corny/cheesy, but why don't you pray for your neighbors? Yeah, go ahead with the lawyers, etc., but maybe they just need a friend and that's why they want to live so close. After all that praying I suggest getting some really loud, young, super ADHD foster kids to play in the back yard! Works here! Lifesaver - I'm totally not interested in BFL (although that may change), but I wanted to thank you for passing along valuable information. Thank you, thank you! I was just thinking that I wrote, but no one was listening...then WHAMO tons of kudos for my NSV leather jacket! Thank you so much...I really DO need that sometimes! As do we all or we wouldn't be here. Halloween Challenge: Got my scale working so maybe I'll be able to weigh myself Friday. I'm on a volleyball team now and that's at least getting me active (and bruised...you should see my arms!)...even got slamed in the head from a Samoan spiking the ball! I'm so tough! (Sarcasm there!) Anyway, I've decided to not try so hard with the dieting...I was so miserable last week and not enjoyable to be around...I decided that I'll just be more careful about what I put in my mouth and choose "good" food over crap and see how that goes. I may be in need of a fill, but that's not happening for a while if it does at all. I'm not quitting, but I'm not going to be as miserable as I was a couple of years ago when I WAS fat and didn't have the Band!

    September exercise challenge?

Last year when I went down for the Vikings game there, I was a little disappointed in some of the crowd. They didn't seem to understand when to be loud and when to be quiet. Most of the people around me seemed ok, but still not overly loud. Last night, at least on TV, seemed like you guys were right on the whole game. Especially at the end for the Shegals last 2 drives. From the fans not in attendance, Thank You. Gotcha on the Shiner. Next time I get down there, I'll have to give it a go. As for the food, you gotta live a little also, just work it off. I really loved the tailgating down there, great people sharing everything. Had a Hispanic family parked directly across from us that had a HUGE setup complete with the Texas Longhorns tent/cover. They offered us everything they had foodwise and asked for nothing in return. Gotta love those Texans! And great nsv! I love that feeling of sitting w/o going into DW's seat anymore. One for me, this past Saturday we had a SWAT team get together at one of the Lt's house. As it was rainy and chilly, DW decided she would grab my new black Champion sweatshirt with our emblem and SWAT embroidered on it. I had to fight her to get it back because she loved it because it is only an XL and she doesn't "swim" in it like before.

    September exercise challenge?

there was NO sitting - only at halftime, maybe. as a season ticket holder, and spending every other wkend at TX stadium - including the last 7 thanksgivings.... it was just electric last night. and the game was off the hook! we got there aroun 4'ish to tailgate & the parking lot was already packed - hubby wasn't the only guy around who took the day off:wink: so quickly a few interesting NSV's about this football game. *as hubby and i gained weight - sitting in the stadium was "VERY close". more like spilling into each others seat. last night - i was (during commercial break) able to sit indian style in my seat - not touch anyone! *tailgating is ALWAYS so much food, nice to take A bite of everything w/out gorging - still ate high cal food, but ... eat better today??? LOL *shiner (That's TX beer Ceradad) - only takes 3 and i'm a cheap date.. back to being good today - bring on GB is right!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Congratulations to everyone - lots of positive energy and good NSV's! I note though that several of you refer to going into retirement in a negative way. For me, I am SO looking forward to retirement, and even more so as my health and body image and body improve!! I'm thinking retirement is going to be a blast without the hassles/inconveniences of work...come on retirement!!!!
  14. NSV - my underwear are getting too big.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi, gang. I read posts, but don't post much myself. But I wanted to share a NSV! My hubby and I just returned from a week long vacation to Colorado. We flew and I was anxious to see if I could fit in the seat and seat belt. Some of you may have experienced the embarrassment of the seat belt not fastening and having to summon the flight attendant and ask for an extender. I hated to fly for that reason, plus I would always have to lift the arm rest so that I could spread out into the seat of the passenger next to me. Well, my NSV is that I didn't have to lift the arm rest and was able to buckle the seat belt and even pull it in an inch or so. Also, the tray table came down without resting at an angle on my stomach. My hubby is large too, so we never sit next to each other, we gamble on having a smaller person next to us. So I had to jump up and go tell him about my NSV and of course explain what a non-scale victory means. He was happy for me. I had lost 58 pounds when we left for vacation and only gained a half pound or so which is good for not being able to eat at regular times and always having to eat out! :tt1:

Jazzy Junes First Fill Line up

Well I got a fill today.... number 3 I have been HUNGRY!!! I have slacked off on my exercise since the kids went back to school it has been hard to fit it in everyday... but I have added in some weight lifting with my aerobics (transfirmer DVD) The doctor said that adding muscle will make you hungrier I only lost 4 puonds and was voicing my displeasure at wanting to be to 40 pounds by my appointment and the RN who helps with fills and runs our support group fussed at me :tt1: she told me I need to take the word JUST out of my vocabulary!!! The doctor told me he could tell by the way my stomache looks when laying on my back that I have been loosing good... more of a crease at the bellybutton line he said... so that is a good thing... I have noticed that my clothes are fitting looser still even though the scale has slowed. Oh and I got a NSV comment from my daughter... she told me I am less squishy and am not as comfortable to lay on:blink: The doc and nurse got a good giggle out of this... well here's to hoping that this fill will help me stay full for longer then an hour

    Daily News!

Hey all! Back at home today. Two more weekends and close up the lake place. "Sob"! We will be starting our harvest anyway and I love this time of the year on the farm. Busy but pleasant. Love the smell of the corn drying in the dryer. Hope everyone is doing good. Stopped at Walmart today and picked up some more OIKOS Greek yogurt. I have a tough time eating in the morning and these satisfy me and have 15g of Protein. I buy the plain flavor and put a few squirts of calorie free flavoring in them. Other yogurts usually have only 5g. Not sure if I posted about these b/4 but just a little tip. NSV...Also bought my first pair of size 8 Levis today. I need talls and was surprised that Walmart carried them. Figured it was time to buy new since I was at the point where I didn't have to unzip my size 10s...just pulled them down when I had to use the restroom. Hope this is not taken as bragging. Just an awfully good feeling and made my day. Looking forward to when I have access to the forum everyday again. Hope our June group stays close and continues to have daily contact into the future. Would be fun in a year or so to find a centralized place to meet for a girls weekend. I have the Mall of America near if anyone would want to meet there...there are lots of options and something fun to think about. I love to travel so ANYWHERE would be fine with me.

BEST NSV EVER! This make it ALL worth it!

Wow Brandy! You go girl. I went to my high school reunion (10 year) and wish I hadn't! I was a size 8/10 in high school and 24 at my reunion. NO ONE RECOGNIZED ME! No one! They would read my name tag and look at my face and then it would click. It was awful! I didn't dance or anything. I had some friends pick on me - So you're too good to dance now. I told them no - I just can't do it anymore...it wears me out and my back hurts. I'm so glad you have a great time! You rock girlie! What a great NSV!
  19. Denver - I guess I'll have to be ok with Sarah being in Washington...better there than here! Haha! You have much more talent than I could ever muster! Newbies - congrats on getting information, getting in touch, getting a date! I can say the only thing I regret is that I waited so long to get it done! It took me SIX YEARS to make the decision! To note: when you post a New Reply (not a quick reply - the New Reply button is on the left after all the posts) then right under your message that you type you can opt for daily emails...this is what I do so I'm not logging on all day (and, besides, internet is SLOOOWWW up here in the north). It's an easy way to keep up with everyone and to see that people are keeping up with you. Winter is coming, winter is coming! NSV for me...BIG one. YEARS ago my DH got me a cool leather jacket. It's one of those "fitted" ones with one button. Well, I never could wear it comfortably with it buttoned (boobs too big, too tight, etc.) But I decided to throw it on yesterday and, WHAM, it fits perfect! Actually, there's plenty of room to spare so maybe it's time for a new one?!?! :-)
  20. Raise your hand if you think that sounds like an NSV to you!!

    NSV's for the Merry Losers

Ok, I'm frustrated with my stalemate with my scale but know a NSV will help lift my spirits. I went to a back to school event for teachers in the city on Thursday. I couldn't believe the reactions I got. I guess because people hadn't seen me in a few months, my weightloss was more obvious. Those who see me regularly don't really notice any more. I do get a little embarrassed by the attention, but I'm learning to say thank you and move on in conversation. I also finally started to replace my clothes with things that fit! I was in the middle of ordering lunch at a sub shop with 3 colleagues yesterday and had 2 different men stare, smile, and introduce themselves. I was starting to think they confused me with someone else....one of the men with me told me they were just hitting on me. I haven't been this size since high school and never had the confidence back then that I have now. I am not used to this kind of attention, but it sure is nice to have strangers appreciate my hard work! (Ok, some of it was rather offensive if you must know, but I'm trying to appreciate all of it....) No one else has been on here in a while. CERTAINLY you all must have your own NSV's to Celebrate????

    What is your NSV?

Last year my school ordered wanted to order shirts for all the teachers to wear on special days. Last year when I put on the shirt I ordered it was too tight and I never wore it to work. I almost put it in the trash. I'm glad I didn't b/c now the shirt fits perfectly. I've worn it twice to school. NSV - Non scale Victory

NSV Thread for the May Bandsters!

I'm not sure if this would be an NSV...it kind of bothered me when it happened. i went to pull my pants up at Wal-Mart and the next thing I knew, they were half-way up my back!! I no longer have that booty-butt blubber to keep them at bay. You know, that "wide gap" that goes on with the pant waistband...it's gone now!!
