    Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Hi Everyone! I tried to post earlier this morning but there were server issues (still are) at work. Turler - it seems like we've both been having a hard time lately. I hope your needle marks are healing - I know exactly how you feel. When my port flipped I felt like a pin cushion they poked me so many times. Brandy - I like your new avatar - snazzy! :-) I'm glad you have your water weight under control. I'd gained today - went for my unfill - they told me not to worry about it - as much as I'm swollen (my usual wedding ring is normally fallen off - it is now stuck). When my meds regulate the scales will be more accurate. Hi Mom! Don't be too stubborn - if you need an unfill get one. I've waited three weeks and I know it's not good for my esophocus and stomach to deal with food constantly coming back up. If you are too full you can cause irreparible damage. Yes the weight loss is good - but you still want to eat. A pound or two isn't worth the risk. I'm done preaching :-)...I'm doing the Halloween challenge - I like short small goals - they are easier for me to attain and the rewards come quicker too :-) gdf - I had hiccups the past couple of weeks. I think it is related to the tightness of your band (in my uneducated opinion). I actually had them this morning. When my band is too tight I tend to get them more. Do you think you're too full? We are playing a wait and see right now with my fills. The reason I've been too tight is all of the water retention and swelling from my meds being off. In a couple of weeks I should (slowly) return to normal. As the swelling goes down I may need another fill in a month or so. I know it's been hell. I'll be glad to be able to eat again and to not be so swollen too. Oh I forgot - I had a huge NSV this week. I rode Go-Carts this past weekend. Played minigolf and arcade games. DD brought her grades up 13's-51's (yes 13F) to all 100's/95's. We rewarded her and my youngest DD by taking them to ride Go-Carts. I went four years ago - I couldn't fit - the belt wouldn't reach to buckle. This time I fit with plenty of room and hopped in and out with ease. Last time two grown men had to haul my embarrassed butt out of the car (I got stuck too).

WTG aclubb!! You're doing great!! Great NSV's Kathy!! I love NSV's....sometimes they make me feel better than SV's. Okay, I have a question for ya'll. I have a Sony Erricson Walkman Slider Phone and it's like an ipod as well. I have an armband that holds my phone and I use it when I run. Yesterday, while I was running, my right arm (from the elbow to the shoulder) went kinda numb but was hurting really bad. I almost stopped running. Well, I finished my run and did my cool down and it eventually went away. Anyone else had this happen? I don't know if it happened because of the armband or if it had to do with something else going on with my body. The armband didn't feel too tight so, I dunno. It was weird....it's never happened before this. Any thoughts?

Renewed.... Way to go!!!! Leslie... Thanks! As for the kids growing up... oh its hard somedays! But growing out of Spongebob would be GREAT!!! Unfortunately, my DH loves it too! As for coffee... I have a love affair with coffee. If I had to give it up like I did for pop, I'd have ended up hospitalized and drooling!! LOL. Its not the caffine... I don't care if it has it or not. I just love the taste and the warm beverage. It's my one splurge... I have it with light cream! Aclubb... congrats on the 20min run! You rock! It is so strange, but we have all felt the same thing... I love to run and I love how it makes me feel. Keep it up! I'm down 2-1/2 lbs this week! I'm so thrilled. Almost to onederland! Haven't been there in 20+ years, and then only briefly! My NSV for today... I went window shopping and tried on some clothes. I had to ask for a smaller size... twice!!! And when I put on the outfit, I realized that I actually have bones in my shoulders! Its not just a rounded softness from my neck to my arms. There are actual bones and angles!!! LOL! In the dressing room, I kept poking and feeling around my shoulders... they've been hidden for so long! Another NSV... I ran into a woman I used to work with, and hadn't seen her since March. She kept going on and on about how "healthy" I look. That felt really good. She said I looked strong!

    Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Good morning all! Wow so after admitting to my huge salt binge on saturday and my massive Water retention.... I got on the scale this morning and I was finally back to normal. Normal right now is 217 and salt is the devil! Leslie~ Wow what a scare! I am glad to see you're doing better now... But congrats on lessening yours meds! Anytime we can do that it's a definite NSV

    Searching for wisdom

Hey Bigdaddy - my band does get tempermental at times it seems - especially when you do have good restriction. Sometimes, its cold liquids, or a certain food, time of day, which way the wind is blowing (just kidding - but it is that erratic). But I have a good feel for it and just work with it. In terms of lifting - At 6'4" I am a pretty big guy. I used to lift when I was younger and could easily bench in the 350 range. Nowadays, I completely agree with Plain. I am so much more focused on reps and trying to get toned. That said, I can still bench more than my body weight today (a NSV for me as I have not been able to do that in a long time....) and I am happy with that. Good luck !

    Finally out of the 30s

Congrats SB and Diane on your respective major NSVs! Woohoo! Diane, wow! I can't imagine what you went through having the issues you're having, especially being in a foreign country! I can't really be of much help because I haven't had such issues. I only had one episode where I couldn't get anything down except Water after swelling up from getting stuck. If everything gets better and you stay in Barcelona, maybe you want to look into getting your tubing shortened and "de-kinked" when you get back to the U.S.? You should be able to get your fills out of the band, specifically for cases like this when it's an emergency. I hope now that it's been a few days since this that everything is okay! Sending you well wishes!

i LOVE NSV's!!! - georgia/renewed just got caught up on the sept 07 board....good to see it alive again. leslie - unfills seem to do well for me; i might be heading in this wk for unfill #3 because it's been a while that i can eat a hot meal hot. gets annoying to wait , wait , & wait some more. hope your ankle is feeling better!!! kathy - i notice that runners do the acknowleged "nod" to one another; a neat club to be in. running was just not in the cards for me today - tried, and the legs would rather be in the yoga class that just started so left the treadmill for the dark confines of the class....i need to do this more; i felt better and my legs needed a break... have a good evening all!

What a great NSV moment for both of you! To weigh less than your DH... I have to get down another 50lbs to get there! I hope I do someday, but if not, that's ok. Camping... I love it! When I was a kid and teenager we'd go every weekend. I'm such an outdoor nut. there is nothing better than waking up and having a cup of coffee outside in the crisp morning air! When DH and I were dating, I convinced him to go camping with me. He's a big city guy, and had never been camping before. So this was big for him. Once we got the tent set up and the campsite arranged, I suggested we go on a hike. He then started to put stuff back in his car and got out a padlock to "lock the tent". I started laughing so hard... and I still laugh to this day about it! Lock the tent. He was freaked out all weekend thinking someone was going to rob or murder us! He eventually got used to it and we would go camping about 2-3 times a year until Sarah came along. She needs too much constant supervision for tent camping for now. DH would absolutely love to have a trailer... with all the conviences - kitchen, bathroom, bed, and AC!!! Have to admit... sounds much better than the hard ground! I completed my run for today. It felt great! I planned a route in the park that included a really big hill. Just as I crested the hill (and made it!!!) another woman was starting down the hill. She saw the great big smile on my face, and smiled back. She then lifted her hand and we exchanged high 5's. Now that was a moment that I'll never forget! Had to share!

    Share your NSV's

Georgia, so glad to see you posting those NSV!!! You are doing awesome. I had to celebrate the day I weighed less than DH. That hadn't happened since high school!!

    Share your NSV's

I have a new NSV. I officially wiegh less than my DH! I've weighed more than him for 10 years now. Feels great!! I also bought some size 18 jeans today! I know that's still "plus sized" but I started out wearing very very tight 28/30's. (28/30 was as high as most places carry clothes around here, so I had to sqeeze in, lol). 30/32 was probably closer to my real size. One more, then I promise I'm done, lol. Sunday was my 1 year Bandiversary and I made my goal of losing 100 lbs in one year! How is everyone else? Any new NSV's to share????

Georgia that's great! You are such a better person than I am. About a month ago I surpassed DH in weighing less - I joyfully sang nanny-nanny-boo-boo...that's just me though. Congratulations - soon he'll be able to pick you up (my DH too). I'm going to get small enough to get "remarried" and be carried across the threadhold - ah my dreams, silly - but something I've always wanted. I'm so happy for you girl! 100 pounds AND a great NSV...and trust me that one rocks!!!!!

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

Leslie, that sounds so fun! DH and I took the youth group from church there a couple of months ago and played laser tag. It was sooooo fun. Wonderful NSV! Bet it felt great!! Oh, I have a good one too. I officially weigh less than DH! I am thrilled because I have weighed more than him for almost ten years. Granted, he is a lot taller than me, but still....I WEIGH LESS!!! HAHAHA I can say that to ya'll, lol. I would never rub it in his face like that though. It's just nice to be able to share this kinda stuff with ya'll.

    lost a clothing size woohoo

Congrats! This is how it happened to me too  I still try to wear my clothes too long.. I usually dont switch to the next size till I have excess material hanging off my butt. My hubby hates it haha. I can't believe that once I lost one size they just started snowballing down. I went from a 22/24 to a 14 in 50 pounds. Just wait a few more weeks and u will probably have a nsv again Those are the best!

    lost a clothing size woohoo

That's awesome, ladies!!!! How fun! I've not been banded yet, but have been trying to watch my carbs and increase my Protein in the last week. I put on a pair of jeans yesterday and the bottoms came lower past my ankles down on my feet (like they're supposed to)... that was thrilling! I showed my hubby and he was happy for me. I can't wait for all of the NSV's!!! I just realized that all of my holiday tops that I love, this will be the last year I get to wear them, how fun! Then the new clothes shopping will begin. Someday, I'll be able to shop in a regular store. Woohoo!!
  16. Hiya HH! and one more thing........ I actually splurged on a few clothes yesterday at Dress Barn...... I NEVER buy anything that is not on sale, but yesterday I said screw it and I bought a very pretty sweater type jacket.. it is of course varying threads of purple! It is gorgeous and $59.99 (this is a lot for me to spend on 1 article of clothing) Also a couple layering blouses that WERE on Clearance.. one is white (to go under the jacket and one is a light green (to go with my eyes) The jacket is an XL and the blouses are size L. I think its time for me to go through my closet and cull out the things I don't like (its just hard for me to through out stuff that actually fits!) WEIRD NSV.

    Twenties NSVs

All of these NSV are inspiring! Its all things I keep wishing and hoping for. Congrats to all of you! After lots of conflicting feelings, I know I am doing the right thing by deciding to get banded. Almost one month pre-op down. Two more to go!

    Any October Bandsters!??!?!

Hi everyone! We're another day closer to our journey to fitness! Hope everyone has a wonderful day. I'm making my wish list today. All the things I have always wanted to be able to do but haven't been comfortable to do so because of my weight. I want to keep this so if the scale isn't moving as fast as I may like, I can look for NSV's like the things on my list. Meshultz~ I'm going to tell my family, but I'll wait til they're back from their vacation.. I don't want them to spend their vacation worrying abotu me, LOL. I know I'll need the support and understanding to know shove food in my face just "because it's tiime to eat"...

    June 2007 Bandsters

Hi everyone!!! I am the same KT that started this thread, but somehow managed to lose my connection to lapbandtalk and had to get a new login!! Anyway, I came back to say hi! Seems our wee thread is losing momentum... I truly hope it's because everyone is doing so well :-) The last time I posted I was frustrated with my weight loss but optimistic that I could turn things around... well I am pleased to report that I had a fill (9mls in a 10ml band) and wow.... restriction, frustration with restriction, etc etc I've had it all!!! Anyway, I finally passed my "original" goal weight. BMI says I am normal!!! YAY!!!! Unfortunately for me I've moved the goal posts and now still have 5kgs to go "keep on trucking"... I am soooo determined that I'll be there by Xmas!!!! NSV: The other day someone said to me... "look at you, skill as skinny as ever"!!! OMG, I have never been skinny but how nice is that!!! So many of us started in June 2007... I hope that you are all happy, healthy, satisfied. It's not so easy but it is attainable and you all deserve it! LOL KT
  21. I had to share my biggest NSV yet so far. I went shopping for jeans Friday and I bought a pair of jeans 2 sizes smaller than the last time I bought jeans (which was quite a long time ago.) It made me feel very good.
  22. Evening, Violets.. Well, another concert done. We got a standing ovation so we must have done something right!! I had a couple of NSV's and then a real downer. Several people told me how nice I looked tonight.. actually heard the word pretty! BUT.. two of the girls forgot to bring white tee shirts to wear under the black tops so I told Bob to bring two of mine. One was a medium and one was a 2X from my former life. Well, the lady who wore the 2X one thanked me for bringing the shirt to her and said it was a good thing we were about the same size so it would fit her. arghhhhhhhhhhhhh I haven't worn a 2X in a long time! In those particular tees I wear a medium!!! OH well, can't have all NSV's all the time!! I'm off to go watch some TV with the Bobster and then head to bed. Everyone have a good night. Sleep well. We got Kat feeling better... now we really need to work on Laura!!!

Does Your Band Stop Your Hunger

OMG DENISE ME TOO... Right now I am stressed and tired - big food triggers for me. :cool2: I was at the grocery store after work - wanted a lamb shank (they didn't have any ) but I was looking at the sweets - Cookies - ice cream - donuts - cin rolls - Oh I wanted some  In the bakery section looked at the sweet rolls but nothing appealed to me - Just got some dark choc sf pudding - but at the cash register - I looked at the candy - but said to myself - you don't need it.. So GREAT NSV... I didn't buy any - not that I didn't want to - but if I don't have it I can't eat it... Hope the watermelon I got is good - I haven't cut it yet - It pisses me off when they aren't good.. How things with BF & SIL ??? Is it straighten it's self out yet??

    NSV (Non Scale Victory)!!!

I had my first NSV today. I am a hospice nurse and after seeing my patient I was walking in the hallway and the nurse came up to me and said, I did not recognize you from the back. I said, what do you mean, she said, your backside is really slimming down. It wasn't until you turned around that I recognized you. Needless to say, I was all smiles.
