My surgery was supposed to be tomorrow. My 2 week modified-liquid went great. I was down the 25 pounds my surgeon wanted. I took the required Covid test yesterday and failed! I'm feeling fine, just a minor cold, but the surgery has been put off until June 21. I'm completely devastated. Very sad not to be joining the rest of you March surgery buddies. I'm not sure what the next 90+ days will bring. -

At least yours will be gone. I was due to be on mine and I skipped the white pills on my bc to try and keep it away but had never tried that so I was worried the whole time that it was going to start all the way up to surgery day. And afterwards too really. It never did thankfully but I would’ve much rather just had it the week before and been done with it. -

One of my favourite seafoods, and very soft and easy to digest even 7 weeks out is langoustine, although there are many words for it. It's softer than shrimp/prawn and less meaty than lobster and in my opinion tastes better than both. This .. -

Even three years later I take Senna every other day or so. Just comes with the territory.

I lost 16 lbs the first month and started at 373 lbs. And I ended up losing over 200 lbs. You are doing fine. also, like the above people said, you are likely in the infamous "three week stall". If you do a search of this site at that, you will find over 17,000 posts on it. And no, I am NOT kidding. Happens to the vast majority of us.

Stall as definitely par for the course and the above mentioned three week stall is probably your culprit. If you are eating according to plan or as you say 7-800 calories there is no way you are not in calorie deficit so you will lose. Most people after stalls lose a few pounds real quick so it almost balances out. For now try to stay off the scale if it is messing with your head but just stick to your plan and the stall will lift.

Weight loss stall
Sleeve_Me_Alone replied to fourmonthspreop's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yes, stalls are completely normal, even this early. As @summerseeker said above, the "3 week stall" is notorious. It often happens between week 3-6 post-op and can last 3-6 weeks. The reality is, you just had MAJOR surgery. Your body is healing and trying to sort itself out, in addition to massive dietary changes. You need to give yourself lots of grace and just be patient - trust the process. Hit your protein & fluids, eat according to your plan, move your body in ways that feel good and don't cause pain or exhaustion. The scale will move again but it can't be your sole, or even primary, focus. If you have any major concerns, definitely reach out to your surgery team, but for now, your job is to heal and follow your plan! -
Just put ' 3 week stall' into the search box. Mine lasted 5 weeks. It does work on your mind but as long as you know you are on the right track, You can not fail. Keep off the scales, Trust the process

Hey! I'm about one month post op (gastric bypass feb 14). I've only lost about 23 lbs post op. I was at 309 when I went in for surgery. I think my weight was like 314 right after surgery because of all the fluids though. Anyway I'm getting annoyed because I've been in between 287 and 286 for the last 2 weeks. I am eating more calories now but not nearly enough to gain or even stall. I have about 700-800 calories a day right now. Is this normal to stall out so early? I try incorporating exercise in my daily routine but I'm still dealing with a lot of fatigue and lightheadedness from anemia so I feel terrible whenever I really exert myself. Any advice or tips? Thanks! Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app

I am one year out and I guess I eat enough food now portion wise that I get my fiber in naturally but Post op I struggled with constipations. I also took benefiber daily and after three days with no movement I took milk of magnesia. Luckily I only had to take the MOM once because the daily benefiber did the trick. I used the Walmart generic which is powder form so I eventually weaned myself off of that and now I am regular without it.

I agree with the above posters. There’s no magic elevator down, just the same hard work. The difference is that the WLS tool helps your efforts make significant change over time. Keep up your healthy eating, you’ve got this. I look for non-scale victories like how fast I can walk a mile, wearing smaller clothes, and carrying heavy books, or ease walking up stairs. The scale only looks interesting about once a month because of stalls and fluctuations.

Those reactions are possibly just jealousy/envy rearing its ugly head. It happens, unfortunately. And yeah that does seem like a lot of weight loss per week that far out. Maybe she should reach out to her nutritionist and see what they say. -
yea she got some toxic reactions already... especialy from female friends. Thank fot the tips, i only was a bit surprises she still is losing 5.5 lbs/week after 4/5 monthe post surgery

Reflux pain, discomfort, etc
Hop_Scotch replied to trishaaustin2001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Absolutely normal at this point. Make sure you get up a lot and do a bit of walking about, it may help release some of the trapped gas. This should lessen over the next few days. If you are still experiencing the same level of discomfort in a week or so, I'd be checking in with your doctor. I assume your surgeon prescribed (for a short period of time) a medication that would reduce stomach acid? If so, make sure you take it. If not, if the discomfort continues you may need something to reduce the acid. -
You answered your own question. I seem to be posting this on every thread lately but ...you don't (I hope) want to lose weight, you want to lose fat (seems people are really scared of that word. It's fat loss surgery. Weight loss surgery is leg amputation.) If you ate 600 calories in a day, you lost fat that day, plain and simple. And you didn't lose 10lb of fat that first week. You didn't lose close to that. Your fat loss has almost certainly been constant or near constant each day so far. Others have explained why but the first week you probably lost 5lb or more of inflammation weight. Unpopular advice: stop weighing yourself. Eat protein, drink water. Walk gently and often. Smile.

I'm looking forward 🙄 to a 3 week post op liquid diet. I can't wait! 🙄🙄 -
Ok. What is/was your favorite clear protein drink? I'm trying to get my Gro list together. I have to drink clear liquids several days before my surgery and a week after. Did you buy it premixed or in power form?

A week from tomorrow is my surgery. 03/24. I fly out to Vegas on Monday. Pre op diet has been pretty good. Ive been drinking two protein shakes and one of my Leftover Jenny Craig meals. Im over my UTI and have used some of the urinalysis test strips to check my ketones. Im in fat burning mode, hopefully that means my liver is shrinking as expected -
My original RNY was done in December 2000, and it was very successful, I lost 12 stone and life was good! I started to regain around 10 years post op nothing too drastic, but I had awful GERD and I was still vomiting sometimes which I thought was odd. Anyway fast forward to 2022 and I went to see about a revision, turns out after a gastroscopy I had a rare complication called candy cane syndrome and a fistula from the pouch to the old stomach! I went in for what should have been keyhole to end up having a full open operation as the surgeon could not find where one of the limbs from my previous surgery was connected to and my intestines were twisted (apparently called an intestinal hernias). Great it was not! I am now almost 5 weeks tomorrow post operation and getting back on my feet. I have been surprised at the weight loss 24lbs currently, which I guess will slow down as I only have 70lbs to loose now. I am also really shocked at the level of aftercare you get now! I'm at the soft food stage, and yesterday I found out I cannot eat fish pie yet! Two hours of pain then eventually throwing it all up. I had truly forgotten how horrible that is, my chest hurt and my throat was still sore this morning. Hoping it is not too soon after the surgery to be ill after eating, but pleased it's done and I can move on with it now.

I was told to do 2 weeks on Optifast, but I know how hard that is if I go straight into it, so I’m trying to kind of do a lead up and am (mostly) watching what I eat now…husband’s birthday today though so I’m kind of doing that ‘last supper’ thing…and eating too much! -
