  1. Wooo Hooooo, PamELa!!!! We knew you could do it! I remember well when the Bobster was writing his doctoral thesis. Seems like it took forever, but when it was done, what a relief!!! The wedding yesterday was lovely. We took a little drive around the grounds between the wedding and the reception and saw several deer. It was such a beautiful Fall day. It's 39 degrees right now and definitely looks like Fall. Had an NSV last night. We were talking with our tablemates about kids and such and I mentioned my SIL's height (6'11") I was told that I was "little"!! I have never been called "little" in my life!!!!! Short yes, but not little!!! What a great feeling!!! Off to get ready for church. After the concert tonight I can relax for a bit. Will be glad when that is out of the way. Everyone have a great day today!!

    Notorious November NSV!

After I finished dying of embarassment, I realized that I did have a NSV today. I was walking through a parking lot and it was raining so the bottoms of my jeans were getting wet and heavy. Well, that coupled with the fact that they're a size too large now, yeah.. I flashed the good people of costco a little pasty white ass today. :crying: I think it's time to move to a smaller jean size.. :smile2:

    Hallow-Lean Challenge...

Thanks! I've actually lost 80lbs since surgery in Jan. (because my highest was 10lbs more than when I started my pre-op weight loss) but it's still a huge number and I feel amazing! I also noticed that your BMI is 34.8, which was a NSV for me when that was my BMI because it means you don't qualify for surgery anymore! So congrats on not qualifying for surgery!

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

Luluc... what a great NSV!!! don't worry about the chip's official time. I've read on a few running threads that that happens a lot. Something about the chip taking some time to register at first... so go with your own time that you witnessed!

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

thanks kathy/gg - the crowd was really awesome ; there was wine tasting going on & a jazz band playing, a whole days worth of activites. i struggled to take it all in and appreciate where i've come w/out hubby there because he my biggest fan & also the only one to put me in my place at times:wink_smile:. intersting tid-bit; we had to put a chip in our tennis shoe - which determined our official time. i swore i got under 30min; but my little ticker said differently..... my girlfriends called to take me out and celebrate - but i knew that would mean a patio & LOTS of margaritas ... and i want to hit the gym in the AM. this is one of the BIGGEST NSV"s for me; a yr ago - i would not have turned down a 'rita.

    Very Discouraged :(

My experience has been that you will have many times along your journey when you will loose weight and there will be weeks that you will not lose weight. In either case you may be doing the same program of eating and exercising. It is also natural to get discourage so you began to look for NSV (non scale victories). In my case I have gone from a 54 inch waist to a 38 inch waist. I used to take diabetes medicine now I don't. So it is not always about the weight loss Take care.
  7. all victories, ladies! way to go! (Leslie, I especially liked yours...what fun!) I tried to post this earlier, so if it doubles up on me, please forgive, but - I had a NSV today, too. I was forced to eat fast food for lunch - which I never do - and I was good and ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and a fruit parfait at McD's, only to have them give me FRIES in my bag in addition to my order! McDonald's fries are crack to me - I normally cannot resist them. Well, I didn't totally resist them today. I ate two, then drove around the block of my office twice trying to find a familiar face to give them to. There are usually tons of guys around, but none today! So, I had to drive around the block again to find the trash can, but I THREW THEM OUT! Then I went to my office and took the bread off the sandwich and ate the chicken and yogurt for lunch! Whoo Hoo, Me! not perfect, but I say it counts.

    Daily News!

Allie...you are not too far away from the 70# mark. Not too long from now you will be posting about it. Great NSV....getting whistled at!!!!!!!!!

    Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

My weight has been super weird. I will lose for like a month then stop for 2 or 3 weeks then lose for a month. It's frustrating at times. But then those NSV's make you think... Ok so it's not all about the numbers. Because while my scale wasn't moving I went down to a size 14 so I was super happy. I cleaned out the whole closet of anything size 16 and up and now only own a few pairs of pants lol. I don't care cause they are all 14's and I wont EVER own 16 again. Makes me feel good.

    Post Something POSTIVE Thread

I had a NSV today -- put on a favorite birthstone ring I've had for a long time and it kept slipping round and round my ring finger so I finally put it on my middle finger -- so my fingers are getting skinnier!

    I'm here to help...

Ok...I am going to jump into this group. As Long said, our June, 2008 group is not very active and we do not stay in touch on a daily basis. I just kind of bounce around on this board and have been feeling like I don't have a place to belong. I want to touch base each day with people I feel I KNOW. Don't get me wrong....love the girls in the June group, just need more contact. I get your addiction transfer, Janet. I, too, rely on LBT quite a bit but feel that it is a healthy, informative and positive addiction! Loved your "commercial" photo, Janet. Those white slacks and top looked great on you. I have been having fun lately filling up my closet with winter clothes and also been getting some great deals on summer ones (heading south for a couple of months this winter). Last week I was 4# from goal but had surgery on 9/30 and gained 7#. Not worried though. Figured that would happen. Other than being extremely sore from surgery, and very swollen, I feel like a new woman. I have had so much energy. ALL my aches and pains have diminished. A year ago I could hardly get out of bed without wincing. I am wearing size 8 jeans and will need to order size 6 soon as I can pull the size 8 down without unzipping them. So many NSV's over the last few months. I have a problem....don't ever want to feel like I'm bragging so most of the time I am afraid to share. Weird, huh? Guess it was the way I was raised. Anyway, want to join your thread....I feel the need to have more contact on a daily basis. You guys go ahead and take a vote...let me know if I made it in?

    Notorious November NSV!

I don't really have any:( However I did do better grocery shopping, I got a Kashi cereal that has 9grams of protein per serving. I got some SF carnation instant breakfast and tried some greek-style yogurt that has 10 grams of protein per serving!! I think now that it is October I'm starting to prepare myself more and really making better choices with my food! And since I did SO bad in Sept. I think that is a NSV for me.:cool2:
  13. Good Thursday Morn, Vi's~~ Who'd of thunk that the urge to get on the scale would be my biggest craving this morning?? Today's just day 4, so it's waaaaay too early to climb on that bad boy just yet! I know that even if it's down (which I assume it would be) it won't be down "enough" to satisfy me... or what if it's down just .something -- the horrors!! -- either way would be "justification" to go eat or not exercise or something. I'm such a mental dieter. Ugh. That's why I thought having a goal of 1x/month would be good for me. But man I want to know!! & I don't! Both at the same time!! Good thing I put the scale away in a difficult place so I won't get it out on a day like today! Yesterday my throat started w/a little tickle waaaaay in the back... & a few dry coughs... today it's a bit more... my voice is all low & gravelly sounding... bleh, don't want to be sick! I have to work, work, work like the wind this morning... then I'm going to lunch w/my bff... haven't seen her in a month or so... we're going to my fav salad place, & I will *not* order the exploded potatoes to go w/my salad!! That will be a MAJOR NSV. Hmmm what else... I'm going to DS's soccer game @ 5... then I have a PTA meeting @ 7... then it'll be home & bed! Voila! Make it a great one, everyone!!
  14. Hi, You have to be realistic and patient. I gave myself a year to get to target and came in just under that. I also found the journey very enjoyable, with NSVs littered along the way to keep me motivated. Sure, sometimes I just had to grind it out when it came to exercise, but it's a price worth paying. Stay positive, look for the good aspects of your great weight loss so far and just go for it!

    Head Spins?

Has anyone else been having head spins when they stand up?? I have been having these nearly every time I stand for the past few days...otherwise I feel ok. Oh and NSV I pulled out a pair or jeans i bought in the past few years and haven't worn much because they really weren't that comfortable as they really were a bit small...well today they're loose! YAY!

NSV Thread for the May Bandsters!

Great NSVs! I´m having a little difficulty keeping my rings on!
  17. Tells us your Non-scale victories! One of mine is that I am wearing 4x shirts now and they are getting loose! :cursing:
  18. Hi Everyone, Drive by post here. I have been incredibly busy and may not be able to check in very often this week since I am traveling for work. Mini....My Halloween Challenge weigh in for last week was -2lbs. I haven't had a good week since then with eating so I'm not sure my results this week wont be sabotaged. Mal...good luck on your run. You will be awesome! Dee, Shelbi, any other BFL'ers. I haven't been doing great with the workouts and eating since I have been traveling. It's really hard to do this on the road. How are you guys doing? I had a really great NSV last saturday. I hiked four (4) 14ers on Saturday. It was a series of four 14,000 or above mountains (Democrat, Lincoln, Cameron and Bross Mountains) and it almost killed me, but I did it! I am really, really proud of myself. I cried on the way down because I was so happy. Bella, your fill is too tight girl. I also like the feeling of being a little tight, but I have to compensate by slowing my eating way down and figuring out how to get in all of the nutrition I need. You don't want to lose your hair, look sickly, or not have any energy, so you must get in your nutrients. Try a slight unfill and see how it goes. I read a few days worth of posts and you girls are obsessed with ice cream. I am too! When I am eating ice cream, it's the only time I feel like I did before lap band....it goes down so easy....so that's why I have to be very careful with it. Talk to you crazy folks later. Rene'

    Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Leslie, Thanks so much...I knew you'd understand. I AM exercising! LOL I am seeing changes in my clothing. I suppose you could say it's a NSV, but get this! I had to buy new jeans about 3 weeks ago (when I hit the big 5-0). They were size 20. Well, Saturday, I had to buy the exact same brand in a size 18 because the 20's were too big!! YAY! It felt awesome, and I know it's something to be grateful for. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally happy about it. It's the goal thing. Like you said. I made big plans, and a promise to myself. I was on a roll a last month and was really feeling great. It was actually FUN to get on the scale everyday and watch that number go down. Amazing how quickly that feeling has passed! I too want to see 199 by Jan 1. I am serious. Like you, I don't have far to go, but still. I am starting to worry. Maybe it's premature. Do you think we're stressing unnecessarily? OMG...this post makes me sound manic! LOL Maybe I'm so emotional because I'm so tired. Maybe I can't lose because I'm so stressed. HA! That's what it is! (granted, I know I was completly unfilled for 3 weeks out of the month, so that didn't help, but I am pretty critical of myself these days!) ~C

    I'm here to help...

Hello Girls! All I can say is......YAY!!!!:thumbdown::crying::cursing::drool: I did it! I lost 1.1 yesterday to take me up to 10lbs for the whole month. That's my best lost ever, even better than when the band was first put in I think. I am buzzing!! I am still struggling with the exercise this week again (work always seems to get in the way of having fun!) but I am going to stick religiously to 1200 cals and see how far that gets me. I would like to zigzag, but am reading into it, as I am a routine person, and I need to know how much I am having on what day. A friend sent me this link if you are interested too Calorie Calculator - Daily Caloric Needs I am so pleased. I don't feel deprived and better than that - I just took off my work trouserx (don't panic - I'm at home now!) without undoing the fly or buttons!! NSV city!! The discussion here is so useful. You take so much for granted, but its only those who have tried and had success who really know ie Our Janet! Mx

    Slow loser...NSV

A year out and I am also a slow loser. But...without the band I would be 46 lbs heavier. Congrats on your NSV and anniversary!! I know there are more NSVs to come!

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Phyl, you are FULL of NSV's today! I was going to ask you about weigh in's while you're in the desert. I remember hearing about something when you were down there last year...but don't remember what exactly and I'm too lazy to go back and find it. I bet all the other snow birds go nuts at your loss since they last saw you. Is it cool enough for you to wear your new jeans? Oh...and don't wait too long to try on those smaller sizes, they might surprise you. I hope Soleil comes by. It's amazing the difference the support you guys give can cause. Just check out my home pages. The only posts are once a month on the weight loss poll. And even there, the numbers dwindle each month. I know I couldn't have done this without you all. You are so much a part of my success. Okay...off to bed, I have a long day tomorrow. I can't wait to eat! I have a feeling I'll dream about food tonight. The food commercials have been driving me nuts the last few days. I'll talk to you all tomorrow night.

    Daily News!

Dino....great NSV with the new pants size. Each one of those moments are so much fun! Allie...try not to drive yourself nuts with the plateaus. We all have them. Do yourself a favor and see if you can ignore the scale for awhile. Your husband is right. Try to calm down about it all. Before you know it your numbers will be going down again. Cathy..........HELLO....about time we hear from you again (just kidding...think we all just missed hearing from you). Sounds like you are setting the world on fire with your new found energy. You go girl! Still plan on stopping somewhere in TN to meet you on our way to FL. Looking forward to it. Now that we booked our trip (cabin in the Ocala Nat. Forest) our son informed me over the weekend that he is looking at a job in Delaware. Will just have to use our Alaska Airline miles to go and see him if he moves there. Hope he is still in Daytona when we get down there but, if not, we still would have gone somewhere warm for a couple of months. Waiting to hear what time my surgery is tomorrow. Just want it behind me. Not looking forward to the few weeks of down time. Have books and movies lines up. I am fairly independent and can't handle not doing my own work. I always say that I am not a perfectionist but very close to being one. Another cross to bear. I will sit and watch the mud getting dragged into the house and cringe. Hope everyone had a good weekend. We are having a beautiful fall. Weather is perfect. Life is good.
