  1. Where did you go and which doctor if you don't mind me asking, I would like to get a revision and plastics done asap thank you! Dra. Laura Carmina Cardenas with Beauty Enhance and I stayed at the Beauty Care Recovery House, which she's affiliated with.

    Overnight

With the revision I know it is a one night stay. My question is, who (if anyone) stayed the night with you? Did someone just drop you off and come back and pick you up the next day? We live approx 1.5 hours away from the hospital and I am just wondering what others, who have had to travel have done. Thanks
  3. Where did you go and which doctor if you don't mind me asking, I would like to get a revision and plastics done asap thank you!
  4. "I'm new here and just had revision from sleeve to sips Dec 20" How long did you have the VSG before having revision? I am looking into the same and looking for what ever options & detail may be brought before me by the Dr.. THX
  5. I was banded in 2012, lost only 25lbs. I yoyo'd for the next year with fill/unfill repeatedly. In 2013, they couldn't find anything wrong with the band but went ahead and unfilled the band. I gained over 75lbs before doing revision in July 2015. I am down 96lbs since my revision and no complications.
  6. Revision from lapband to bypass Dec 28.A struggle...I am Still on full liquids...have not moved on for fear of pain and throwing up.I have assorted pains .Sticking and random shooting pains and slight aches.Inside itch and yeast overgrowth in my mouth.I was prescribed nystatin mouthwash and just had a cleaning.I have not started vigorously exercise yet...Walking is a challenge and I am still sore and energy less .As I type I am in bed with my electric heating pad..Getting enough water is a problem and I am drinking strained soups with Unjury added...not loving Unjury .it clumps.I definitely don't feel anywhere near 100%.I bought probiotics but have to mix caplets contents in Greek yogurt.I can't swallow pills.I ordered barimelts vitamins from Amazon. My incision areas hurt and I have scars.
  7. The risks are the same, except, if you sleeve to much, you can end up with a blockage and then they would need to do a bypass, the surgeon told me that i should expect to get back on track with the revision, I will definitely keep this thread updated, right now I am doing the pre surgical diet, :-(
  8. I'm having the same issues as you. I had my sleeve done in 2012. My lowest weight was 174 but now I'm up to 197. Since having my sleeve I've never missed a beat with barfing. I recently had a endoscopy and a upper gi but the doctor said I was stretched but couldn't tell why I've gained weight. I don't eat a lot. He's sending me to a weightless doctor. He said if things don't change with the barfing and heartburn we will consider going to the bypass. I didn't realize that you could revise the sleeve. Have you looked at the risk? What's the recovery time? How much weight does the doctor think you will lose with the revised sleeve? Keep us posted afterwards. I'm thinking I should go to another doctor. I would love to follow your journey. Good luck on the 25th!!

    Life After Lapband

I was just saying I have mixed emotions and lots of thoughts. I am very thankful I had the band but I miss the tool. I am only 4 weeks post op from removal so it's still fresh. My insurance does not cover revision surgery which is what this would be considered and my budget does not fit a self pay surgery so this thought crosses my mind. Especially feeling hunger like I haven't dealt with in nearly 3 years. It's a constant struggle. I am still a believer in the band and would never talk anyone out of this option.

Time off for 360 body lift

What is a 360 body lift... once I lose the weight I want after my revised surgery I will have to have the skin removed because I have extra sensitive skin
  13. I did the sleeve too and in 8 months I lost 100 lbs then in Jan last year I had my gallbladder out and am now having bile reflux which is now causing me to have the bypass surgery revision
  14. I'm having a revision surgery on the 4th
  15. Has anyone had the gastric sleeve done and then have to have the bypass revision surgery? What are the outcomes and things I should watch for. I lost 120 since June 2014. The Dr said I may lose more.... will it be as quick as the sleeve?
  16. So I was banded 8 years ago. No real complications...got to a the median estimated weight loss over time. Began to creep up a pound here and there and figured would "upgrade" to a new long term solution with the sleeve being the direction I was pointed. Main reasons were that I know that at some point the band will fail etc as it is a mechanical device...and secondly to get ahead on the weight regain curve. Saved up on self pay, got my unfill about a month ago now in preparation for a Feb 19th sleeve revision surgery which is scheduled. Now here is the problem...and question.. prior to banding I had severe gerd...to the point where I was afraid to go to bed at night. Woke up with acid in my sinuses 3 times a week, choking on stomach acid whole nine yards. I thought it was because I was fat and was one of the driving reasons for my weight loss surgery. In my banding surgery they found a hernia and repaired it. Cool that must be my reason right? Fat and hernia... Never had Gerd or heartburn post banding...well, until after my unfill that is. Just about after every meal I have heartburn to some degree. Havent had a night time gerd episode "yet" but after reading all the GERD stories on sleeves I am hyper nervous. To the point of looking at all options to include blowing the surgery off...Does anyone have any experience, stories from yourself or even other friends where something similar occurred ?? Any suggestions at all? I haven't talked to my doctor yet as I want to kind of have my mind in a strong direction before doing so. I am thinking about bypass, but it seems the most extreme and frankly freaks me out a bit. My BMI is 34.5 currently...Also what if I try to go back into lapband fills after the break? Maybe it will be like a new banding? but that contradicts one of the reason I wanted a revision in the first place, lol.. Anyone tried unfill to refill strategy ? Any thoughts or comments are appreciated!

    5 days post op PAIN

I have no idea why I am so bruised up...All I know was that I had a complex surgery(revision).Lap band to bypass with hiatal hernia.
  18. The decission to have Weight Loss Surgery was not a easy one, but it was a logical decission. I was a 33 yo Male, 5ft11in 302 pounds. I have been battling with weight loss for many years, I have tried all diets and spent thousands and thousands of dollars on them, Nutrisystem x3 times, Weight Watchers, Slim Fast, Herbal Life, Nutripia Fresh food Delivery, GNC Total Lean. I have lost weight on all those diets, but nothing significant. I suffer from bulging disks in my back and have had 2 arthoscopic right knee surgeries which prevent me from excercising. My family has a history of Obesity, Cardiac, Hight Blood Pressure, Diabetes, High Cholestorol. I see myself gaining weight, and slowing down, I am tired, and my whole body is in pain, all the time. I wasnt able to do things I wanted to do, because my body just wouldnt do it, The attempt at just normal walks, i would be in pain. So I was discussing the options with my boyfriend, he mentioned to me that a radio DJ from local radio station Z100 had weight loss surgery, and I looked him up, at this point, I never heard of the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy, I only knew of the Lap Band, and the Bypass, which both, I was not happy about, I heard about huge failures from the Lap Band, and I didnt like the idea of re routing my intestines, let alone did I ever think i was a candidate for weight loss surgery either. So I decided to google the radio DJ, and looked up where he had the surgery, I landed on the website of New York Bariatric Group, after browsing their website, and learning about different types of surgeries, I filled out the quick contact form to make an appointment for a consulation, they promptly called me back the next day and I made an appointment for March 14, 2012. March 14, 2012, I had an appointment with Dr. Spencer Holover for initial consultation, he explained every surgery in detail and told me, I didnt have to make a decission on the actual procedure I wanted, until my last appointment, when it is time to make the surgery date. Which i was relieved about, because I had my own research to do (which I highly recommend). I left the office, feeling very informed, and not pressured into making a rapid huge decission, The office staff was extremely welcoming, and pleasant to deal with, they handed me a folder with information in it, and told me, all I had to do, was fill out the information in the folder, and they would handle everything on my behalf, and they did. During the 6 months required by my insurance, I did my own research, which consisted of a lot of self made videos from people who actually had the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy, Bypass, and Lap Band, and I started leaning towards the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy, it seemd the most successful, with minimal complications, and I liked the fact of still keeping my anatomy, just less of it. Up until the 5 month, I stll have never made the decission, I tossed the idea around with the psychologist, until I sat down and said, it was the Vertical Sleeve gastrectomy I was going to have. I was sleeved September 18th, 2012, I did well, initially, over the time I went from 302 pounds to my lowest weight of 226, as time went by, I starting being able to eat more, and i was putting weight on again, and i was feeling less and and less restriction, initially i went back to the surgeon and they said to see the nutritionist, and in my mind i am like here we go again, being pushed off to a nutritionist, they aren't going to tell me anything i don't already know, i have always felt that they aren't helpful at all, and they all happen to be super skinny lol, i eventually stopped going to the doctor and just dealt with it, fast forward to 2015, and i have gained 40+ pounds and said I have to go back to the surgeon, he ordered a endoscopy and the results showed stretching in the top and bottom of my stomach, and they said there are options available which were Band over sleeve, revision of the sleeve or bypass, I already knew i didn't want the band or the bypass, so I said lets revise the sleeve. My revision surgery is scheduled for 1/25/16, insurance approval was a breeze, I have GHI/Blue Cross Blue Shield, I needed to get pulmonary, cardiac, psych evals, but other than that, everything was good, wish me luck! Anyone here gone through a revision?
  19. I was a revision from lapband to sleeve so my experience was a bit different and my NUT said my symptoms were prob due to being a revision. I was not really in much pain, but the nausea and dry heaving was horrible. I am not trying to scare you because even with that I would do it all over again. It took about a week to feel normalish. Make sure you have sugar free Popsicles and pedialyte Popsicles stocked. I was barely able to drink which made my symptoms much worse. The Popsicles are the only thing that probably kept my husband from dragging me back to the hospital for dehydration. Again though, almost 5 months out and it was TOTALLY worth it. Good luck.
  20. It caused irreparable damage to my esophagus.I was vomiting and sliming constantly.Developed GERD.Gained back most of the weight.Only lost 35 pounds and struggled to keep it off.It flipped,Painful protruding port.?.Had it and struggled for 14 years.Carried around plastic bags for barfing. It started to erode.?..lucky to get a revision to bypass covered by insurance.
  21. Had a gastric bypass revision on Tuesday 1/12/16 and came home on Thursday night. Am on clear liquids until I see the surgeon on Wednesday. Pain is tolerable using Tylenol 1000 mg every 6 hrs. Have headaches from the anesthesia still.
  22. Hello! I had my band to bypass revision 12/22. The first week and a half were hell and I seriously thought I made a mistake and cried a lot. I'm four weeks out and feeling a million times better. Still slightly tender on my left side incision and think I have finally shaken my stall. I'm down 23 lbs!!!

    Losing slowly

I think there are two reasons 1 If you start at a lower weight you will lose slower. I didn't have that problem as I revised at 300 pounds. 2. Years with a band teaches some people to get used to that feeling of full all the way up to the esophagus. I was very deliberate and and worked hard to eat till no longer hungry rather than seeking "full" My losses were as good if not better than average virgin sleever but remember I started out with a very high BMI
