    May 2022 surgery?

So two things - one - does anyone know if this is normal to stop losing beginning of week 3 and actually went up .4 ?? two - chicken- I tried pulverized chicken breast with a bit of fat free mayo yesterday my left side of tummy gut hurts yesterday and this morning. I feel like as soon as I introduced something other than liquid I am getting constipated also. I think back to soups for a couple days. Very discouraging set back but I’ll keep on keepin on.
  2. Im about 3 months post op.

    Calories per day

I didn’t count calories but did do random checks for my own curiosity. I was eating less than 300 the first month. Was around 800/900 when reached maintenance at 6months on a good day. I eat about 1400 now at 3 years (but I’m not very active). But that is me. You’ll notice a fair bit of variation in what people could do & what then what they need to do to maintain. Some plans really push to increase calorie intake while others like mine don’t. If your plan doesn’t specify specific caloric plan but you’d feel more comfortable & confident with what you’re doing with caloric advice, ask your dietician &/or surgeon for some additional guidance. Remember though, you can only eat what you can physically eat. Otherwise, focus more on getting your protein (& water) in & watch portion sizes & food choices.

Start my 2 week pre op diet tomorrow, 50g carbs or less, 1,000 cal or less and no less than 30g protien. Daily for 2 weeks. My pre-op diet is not as restrictive as others. Not sure why. But I'm not complaining.

    May Surgeries - check in!

Hi all! I just hit my one year post-op at the end of May. I’ve made it to my goal weight and then some which feels great. However, over the past few weeks I have begun feeling extremely bloated in the afternoons and evenings. The bloating is causing some pain above my belly button and gas (sorry tmi). Has anyone else experienced this? I have a meeting with my dietitian tomorrow and am planning on asking about it too. I haven’t changed my diet in any way for several months now and am feeling full/satisfied after eating so I know it’s not hunger pangs. Thoughts? Thanks everyone and keep up the amazing work!
  6. yea - not a good thing to be eating three weeks after surgery. But then, you know that!!
  7. My dumb self ate a greasy piece of chicken and almost 10 mins later I get a headache- anyone experienced this? Im 3 weeks post op revision surgery- yep I’m a mess ! Never again tho!
  8. I'm a CRA! Was it that obvious from my posts LOL? I am unfortunately not a fan of eggs, sausage, and bacon, and usually the yogurt has sugar in it. I usually can buy protein shakes at the local CVS/walgreens. It's really a lot better now, in terms of hunger. I try to eat a lot of fish - finally in the last few weeks I started being able to eat salad, at least mixed greens, if not romaine/iceberg lettuce. So, that opens up a lot.

    Calories per day

I am in week 4 post-op. Looks like I'm getting anywhere between 400-850 calories per day. Struggling to get my water in this week and, sometimes, my protein if I'm not careful about tracking my progress throughout the day. I've resorted to using a timer every 15 min to cue me to drink and to stop/start 30 min before and after meals.

    Crystal Light Post OP?

I recently had a conversion surgery from the lapband to the sleeve. I was told that Crystal Light was okay to drink and was drinking a gallon a day. I hit a weight loss stall and got to thinking about something that I had heard before about the aspartame in Crystal Light is bad for you and can stall weight loss and well as cause health issues. I did some research...google searches and read doctor's reports and other patient's posts about it. I decided to stop the Crystal Light and switch to lemon water. It is true for me at least...every person is different... but I feel much better and the weight is dropping again. I was getting hunger pangs when drinking the Crystal Light throughout the days and I have noticed that with lemon water that is not happening. As I said everyone is different and biologies are different but getting off of the Crystal Light has been a positive for me.
  12. Costco had jeans online on sale for $10. I bought the next four sizes smaller than the ones I was wearing before pre-op diet. They came 2 weeks PO. I’m returning two pairs. Too BIG lol.

    May 2022 surgery?

I feel much better in week 5. About to start week 6 and I’m hopeful. My blood pressure ran 80s over 40s for weeks post op and it was fine. Hopefully your blood pressure finds it’s happy place soon!

    May 2022 surgery?

This is the beginning of my 4 th week post op. I’m still nauseated and dizzy. Just not feeling well. Pushed off going back to work. They said it might be the change in my blood pressure. I had high blood pressure when I had surgery and this quickly it’s normal to low. Just wondering if anyone else just didn’t feel well at 4 weeks?

    May 2022 surgery?

Probably. I stalled when I switched from clear liquids to full liquids. Someone here shared a video where a bariatric surgeon explains the cause of the early stall. It's nothing that you are doing wrong. Your initial weight loss would have mostly been water loss that eventually catches up. The stall is just the body processing the changes to your diet and your new stomach. Some recommend only weighing once per week or month so that you don't lose hope in the process. Also, if you are doing any exercise and had previously lost muscle tone - you will be gaining muscle that will also move the scale back a little. But, even though I stalled for the entire 2nd & 3rd week post surgery, I could tell my clothes were still getting looser by the day.

    May 2022 surgery?

I'm in a similar situation. Surgery May 19, lost 10lbs immediately and now am stalled. I'm getting my protein and usually my water in. I feel like I don't any restriction on food, eating a little less. I'm sticking to around 600-800 calories. I'm a little frustrated for sure.

    May 2022 surgery?

A friend of mine had surgery done in mid-october. To date, she has lost 90 lbs, and she is at her goal weight. She told me that even when she was in a stall and loss of pounds was not showing on the scale, she was losing inches. It's a process. Congratulations and keep up the good work! I hope this helps.

    May 2022 surgery?

I did my measurements and found I lost an inch in my waist, hips and chest each. I am doing what I suppose to but have not lost weight in the last 12 days. I am 24 days po. I have lost 14lb since day 3 po. The scales are driving me crazy. I want to numbers move so bad just for some encouragement. I hear from. So many that their weight lost started to pick up after a long stall.
  19. Recliner is easier. I’m still using mine since I can’t lift it back to its Original home downstairs yet (15lb weight limit). I couldn’t get out of bed comfortably until this week. I’m 5 weeks post op.

    Numbness

I just had the sleeve done on Friday June 3, and yesterday June 5 I noticed that both my thighs (top and outside) were numb. I thought it was the way I was sleeping. I’ve been walking as much as I can. I called my dr and he said that it wasn’t a complication from surgery and that if it doesn’t improve to go to the ER.

    May 2022 Surgeries

I had my surgery May 18th. I have had zero complications, and only a little pain on the first day after surgery which was managed at the hospital. I was tired the first week after surgery, but I have been feeling more and more energetic with each passing day. I'm also dropping around one pound per day. I am off work right now and go back to work on June 13th and I feel pretty confident that I can handle it. How's everyone else doing?
  22. I could not do a bed for several weeks. recline was much easier and the first week of surgery i required help to get out of the recliner to get up.

    May 2022 surgery?

Hello, I had surgery May 13 as well. I am 55. I had my surgery in MX and paid out of pocket since my insurance had a clause stating it did not cover the surgery. I did not have to do a pre op diet just low carbs. When I decided to do it I schedule 2 weeks before. I am losing slowly. The first two weeks I lost 14lbs. Now I am stalling. One day I gained two pounds. I am sure it's the water I am drinking. I record everything on the bariatric app. It's been good to look back and see my numbers and sticking to the plan. I am having difficulty with water. All this protein I take in its difficult to fit in fluids. I normally get at least 48 oz. I reach my protein goals and low carbs. I hoping I will start losing again. I did measurements and I have lost an inch from my chest, hips and waist.
