How Long After To Drive?
BeautyVGSJourney replied to GeauxForIt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started driving about a week and a half post op. after surgery because of the lack of protein and food I felt a little weak and was afraid of driving, I did not feel safe to drive until then. Good luck! -
It's a great feeling isn't it! I went to my pcp last week which was 6 weeks post op. my A1c was down to 5.6 and cholesterol had dropped tremendously as well. Go us!

One week post op GB and hungry
Rayemcl replied to Rayemcl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I appreciate your responses!!!!! I was thinking that there was something wrong with me. I will be two weeks post op tomorrow (I could cry with joy!!!). This has been an experience, but there is so much that I still don't know and feel stupid for even asking, now I know how some of my students feel. You would think that a grown women would know these things before having a life changing surgery but it happened so quick, my mind is still wrapping around the fact that it is done. The hunger is going away slowly but I have incorporated cottage cheese and small bites of chicken on some days, but after a few bites I am full for the rest of the day. The scales are not showing much weight loss but my nutritionist stated that it all depends on how much weight you have to lose pre and post surgery, I think that I may have lost eight pounds, but I am drinking so much fluid so I did not know if that could be the cause. I am trying to not get down as I thought that I would have lost more by now. Have any of you all struggled with losing right after surgery? Remind you I had lap band revision as I started out around 220 before the lapband and then had the gastric bypass two weeks ago and before going into surgery weighed 165lbs. I welcome any suggestions and or thoughts. Once again I want to THANK YOU for taking the time and helping and supporting me with these questions. I have introduced my friend that is starting the weight loss journey and encouraged her to join as it would be very beneficial for her to have support as well. -
I’m new to this forum and would love any advise please. I am one week post op as I had by lap band removed four weeks ago and had gastric bypass last Tuesday (11/27), is it normal to gave back pain and be hungry?

RNY: can you FIT water IN? And HOW?
Bingcherry replied to meyouus's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was just converted from band to RNY this past Tuesday. I'm definitely having a lot of trouble getting all my Fluid in. I just cannot sit here and drink all day long. I've probably been doing 45-50 oz per day. I am still only on Clear liquids so I count everything, even the sf popsicles. I can tell if I'm drinking too quickly, I start belching so I stop for a little bit and then continue on. I"m so glad that I have the next 6 weeks off of work so I can master the fluid intake. -
Taste bud changing thing was no joke
CristinHope replied to sleevegirl88's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Same boat here! I have always LOVED coffee. My first job as a teenager was in a coffee shop and I've been addicted since! I switched to decaf about a month before surgery so that I would still be able to enjoy coffee post-op. Except, SURPRISE, it now tastes terrible to me! I am 3 weeks post-op today so that may change with time. It still smells so delicious but I've tried it about 5 times since surgery and it just tastes bleh. Also, the protein shakes that I loved pre-op now make me gag and the ones that were my least favorite now taste the best! It's so crazy! Hoping maybe the coffee will get better with time because it still smells heavenly but my tongue is just not into it anymore! -
Just wanted to add to this thread that I've currently had a period for over a month. My Ob/Gyn put me on 10 day progesterone and now that I'm done with the pills, my period has become even worse. I'm going through superplus tampons every 1-2 hours. I'm feeling very week. I go to the Ob/Gyn tomorrow and she's talked about going on birth control pills. I have PCOS and am scared about going on birth control pills as I've had issues with fertility. Anyone else going through this? How long did it take to regulate? I'm really hoping this is just estrogen leaving my body, but I wish it would give me a break... I've been on a stall on my weight loss for just as long.

From the album: Pre-Op - August 2015
Family get together about 1 week pre-surgery -
Wow going back to work after just one week - honestly I tip my hat off - I do admire your strength - I took 3 weeks off from work and I still can get all my Protein down and I'm in the puréed stage. Lucky for me I have a desk job with a 35 hour work week. I'm still dealing with nausea and weakness. I may have to go back my first week part-time but i could never imagine standing in the heat all for most of the day. Be careful and Good luck

I took off one week. Surgery was Monday and I went to work the next Tuesday. I would have gone back on Monday, but I didn't have any appointments scheduled so I didn't have to go in.

Will the DS fix my reflux and weight gain following the vsg?
JengaBee replied to Zoumommy's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I had the mini gastric bypass due to severe reflux. Check into it. I'm three months out, down 55 lbs (SW 265), and 100% reflux free. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App -
OH MY WORD TALK ABOUT BURN!!! Does anyone out there have suggestions on what to do about heartburn? I have it so bad that sometimes I just start puking up the acid (I know gross). I get it no matter what I eat. I seriously always have to have a bottle of tums with me & sometimes the tums don't work either. I will be 8 weeks out on the 24th of December. Does this get better or will I always have this problem? I have never in my life really had experienced heartburn before this. Any help would be appriciated!

When To Weigh, Measure And How To...?
Kiki Von Moonshine replied to TracyLynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like someone said, once a week is good enough. Yes muscle weighs more than fat. I'd measure my chest, waist, and hips. Some people measure the neck, thigh, calf, upper arm, and wrist. -
3 weeks out & not doing so well...
Lyrakl replied to Jenn D's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm three weeks out too, and on purees. I get mucous when I eat too much. I just figured this out yesterday. I was having a real problem swallowing water and my doctor had me try crystal light. For some reason that works better in the beginning he said. I hope you feel better soon. -
When To Weigh, Measure And How To...?
Ljp replied to TracyLynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I meaured before surgery & 3wks later. Glad i did, scale wasnt moving much but i lost 13.5 inches. I meaured ea thigh (in the middle), ea arm, all the way around under my arms, over breast, & waist. Some say to weigh weekly, some every two weeks....so your preference. If you there is an app calld: myfitness pal tht is awesome for keeping track of your weight, calories, protein, carbs & so forth. Really has helped me a lot. -
I had my surgery about 3 weeks so & I'm still stuck on liquids. I'm having a hard time keeping liquids down & any meds I take. My problem seems to be, I have a lot of mucous stuck in my throat so I gag on whatever it is I take in. I've had a barium swallow done so it's not coming from my stomach. I'm just so frustrated & feeling very down because it's taking a lot out of me. Has anyone ever had this problem? I've tried different allergy meds & nothing works. Waiting to hear from my surgeon as I write this but I'm not expecting much...

Happyone - I want to give you a few things to think about. - How is your fill level? Are you in the green zone? If not, see about getting another fill. - How much are you eatting? Try keeping track of your calorie intake. I use fitday.com, but there's other sites too. - What are you eatting? Are you following the lapband guidelines like protein first, then good carbs like fruits and vegies? Drinking all your water? - Exercise - now that's a tough one. I live in south Georgia so I know about the heat too. I walk on my treadmill 4-5 times a week for 30 minutes. It may not be much, but it works for me. - Try going back to the basics. Do you have the lapband booklet that they give you when you're first banded? If so, get it out and reread it, maybe it'll help. - Finally, if you're doing everything you're suppose to be doing and still not having much success, mix it up. By that I mean eat a little too much for a day or two and pump up on the exercise. Sometimes we need to shock our bodies. Our bodies get use to eating less than we need and they adjust to that, so give it more and it'll relax a little. Good luck.

Being a female, will my fills ever stop?
Melly26 replied to donnalemaster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a 12cc band and im at 9cc's as well. I have never had a sliming incident or vomiting or anything and i can eat whatever i want. I just started weight watchers a week ago in hopes that it will move the weight loss process along since i havent lost nearly as much as other people around my surgery date have.. its a little discouraging, i know its a tool and not magic but i expected a little more out of it. i am going for my next fill next week which will probably bring me to 10ccs. good luck and hopefully the next fill does the trick! -
Thanks @@no onions and @@Kindle! It looks like I'll have to make sure to have plenty of snack foods on hand. My doctor said I'm on a lifting restriction for 3 weeks (which is almost up) so I plan on getting to the gym for the next 3 weeks to work on my strength and to test how I feel. Hopefully I won't have any problems when I start lifting weight again. I already know that being on my feet that long is going to be a problem for the first week, but that would have happened before the surgery too. I'll just have to work through it.

I am almost 4 weeks out. I do not believe I could do what you described at this point. I certainly cannot do any heavy lifting. In fact, bending slightly in certain directions makes me sore (and apprehensive about tearing something). I would suggest running it by your Dr.

I just had my my first salad a week ago and will be three months post op tomorrow. I was not a salad fanatic previously but ate them. OMG! I enjoyed it SO much. It took me two days to eat it but it was awesome! I had spring mix, baby kale greens, tomatoes, cucumber kalamata olives, pickled beets, banana peppers, bread and butter pickles, crispy onions, salad toppings, Bacon, cheese, crushed croutons, and Blue Cheese dressing. I get a couple of pieces of everything and cut it up onto the lettuce leaves. #StillAFoodie[emoji5] Sent from my XT1097 using BariatricPal mobile app

Low Cost & Low Starting BMI
PianoLady replied to Sabrinaaa's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded with a BMI of 34 in Dallas, TX by Dr. Jaysalean. It was self pay at a cost of $10,250.00 with 3 free fills (With Fluoroscope). I am nearly 7 weeks into this and have lost 17 lbs. I have been extremely pleased so far. -
Hello, did you find someone in Utah to do your fills? I was banded last week, so I have some time time to go. I understand their is a Doctor at Highland family medicine, and that Salt Lake Regional Medical Center will do fills, but they require and upper GI series before they will even see you. Thank you
