Plastic surgeon in Tj
JamieLogical replied to gcarol72's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had my extended tummy tuck, breast lift with augmentation, all over lipo, and fat grafting with Dra. Laura Carmina Cardenas back in Aug. 2011. I had a fantastically positive experience and received excellent care and support from Dra. Cardenas herself (came to see me every day for two weeks in the Recovery House) as well as the nursing staff of the Beauty Care Recovery House where I stayed for two full weeks post-op. I plan to go back there ASAP to have my thighs done and a revision to my breasts. I had lost 90 pounds "on my own" prior to plastics, thus the need for them in the first place, But I regained 80 pounds over the next three years post-plastics, which is why I was sleeved in Sept. 2014. My tummy tuck held up fantastically well through the re-gain and loss, but I think that's mostly to do with the fact that when I regained the weight, it almost all went into my hips/thighs. So now that I've re-lost the weight I have a lot of excess skin in my thighs. I need the breast revision, because the weight regain and re-loss seems to have completely depleted what real breast tissue I had and caused my implants to become more obvious (I can feel them through my skin!) and the left one to become slightly malpositioned. I'm hoping Dra. Casrdenas will be able to help me out with that somehow, though I haven't consulted her about it yet. -
Any February Surgery Dates...
LifeWhichIsMine replied to youngme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I've noticed such a wide difference in the way docs prep for surgery. I'm having a revision done for Gerd. For my sleeve it was a liquid diet 24 hrs before. For the bypass it's 3 days. I'm seeing some on here stating two weeks. Some questions: 1.) have they stated how long your hospital stay will be? Mine states one night, for my sleeve I was only there 12 hours 2.) have you received your plan for eating after surgery? -
Hello from Europe!
CowgirlJane replied to Michael1989's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
There is a forum member who lives in Amsterdam who might have some good ideas. I am currently in Mexico recovering from plastics so I am definitely a supporter of this option, but it's worth checking closer to home too! Right now I can't think of her screen name ... but she posts regularly and has been sleeved several years. Good luck! BTW, I was banded in Frankfurt when I lived near Munich. I returned to the states and had a very difficult time getting follow on support. Bands can be high maintenance but it was definitely a failure factor for me. I revised to sleeve 4 years ago locally and still rely on my surgeon's office as they are really great. Sleeves are much less prone to needing maintenance than bands tho. Good luck! -

Ya know I had that feeling! My doctors office told me on day 1 it was covered now by them as of just a few months ago but something is just not sitting right with me. I had a feeling it wasn't. I don't want the bypass. Now I'm really bummed ???? So did you pay for your sleeve out of pocket? I may end up just doing just that myself. Thanks for your informationHello Cladd, my husband is active duty Navy. As you know, we have Tricare prime. I had the sleeve done Dec 30, 2013. And BC of almost 2yrs of a stricture and acid reflux, I had to have a revision to GBP on Dec 4, 2015. Unless something changed recently, they pay for the sleeve. Hope this helps and sorry if this is a repeat answer, I didn't read the entire posts. Good luck:)Thanks so much for your answer! It was not a repeat post and thanks forctsking the time to answer me. Sorry you had complications with your sleeve! That's terrible. Hope you are doing well now -

Has anyone ever heard of or has Dr. Hugh Houston as their surgeon in Nashville, TN

If you don't mind please share your experiences.... I go to meet with him and his staff on Feb.1st fora revision surgery -
I had my gastric sleeve done 2/13 and did really well, especially taking into consideration I have multiple sclerosis. A couple months into it my reflux had returned & I had a terrible time trying to swallow. Since my acid levels in my stomach were way too high the revision was recommended. I had the revision 6/15. The revision surg triggered the worst MS flare up I've had to deal with since my diagnosis. I struggle with eating do to excessive nausea and vomiting. It is better with the transdermal patch scopolamine. When I would eat, it would feel like I had a razor splicing my insides to shreds. Morphine I take for my back & the MS did not touch the pain in my abdomen. I ended up with an "internal hernia". Emergency surgery for "volvulus obstruction". twisted intestines. In less than 6 mths I've gone from a sz 14 to a sz 4. I will say.......finally.....I am feeling & doing much better. Now.... from everything I have found & read, the internal hernias are rare. This is not normal at all.

I agree with @@briefs199 every surgery is going to be work. They all work differently and you have to put a different amount of work into them but they all require you to show up and be accountable for you. Since you already have the band, and if you not having trouble with it why not speak to your Dr. and see what they advise? I know many are switching, taking out the bands and getting sleeved or going for the by pass. I have to tell you that when my surgeon "retired" and we (hubby and I) were kind of left to find our way with the new group that took over or another one...and life happened along the way....I was not losing, I was eating I found my old habits easy to retreat to...I saw I was not losing and I won't lie, I thought about changing up my surgery. The new Dr. even advised that I would be a candidate for a revision, but I had to think seriously long and hard about it. My realization was this: I don't have a problem with my band. My port is working fine, I get filled and unfilled, I eat and don't get stuck or sick when I follow the rules of eating (which is true for all surgeries) so why would I change to another surgery? If I can't make what I have work for me why go through it again and find myself still asking these questions? I know that what I need to do is make behavioral changes, both physically and emotionally. For me I am an emotional eater. Happy, sad, feed it sweets!!! That is what needs to change. I need to remember that all my body needs is a balanced Breakfast lunch and dinner. It doesn't need anything more, and I don't need to use food to sooth my savage beast when she's ready to roar or soothe my boo boo's with chocolate and ice cream. So I am not revising my surgery, I am still down having gained only 4 pounds since my last weigh in when I had an unfill due to virus and I am determined to make the changes I need to make because I know no matter what....if I don't change them I am going to be right here struggling with it.

How was your 5:2 day today?
CowgirlJane replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey everyone, I am in great spirits, but things have not gone smoothly and today we decide what to do next. I was supposed to return Thursday but that won't be happening. Implant replacement seems fine ( very sore due to scar tissue) but while I was"under" decided to do a few things, fat transfer to my checks ( looks great) removal of 2 skin colored moles near my eye, fine. I wanted to do some Lipo but everything I thought was fat is actually skin ( my back for example). I had sent photos of my inner thighs and we had decided that it wasn't worth doing a long thigh lift. When he saw it in person, how the top say 6" of my thighs don't just rub together but it s a bunch of skin folds. He thought he could do a fairly minor thigh lift, scar not so far, not pull it too tight since my outer thighs are trim. Well, it didn't go well. He tolD me right after surgery he wasn't too pleased with results and we might want to revise to the long lift while I was here. It never came to that because by Monday night, a few hours post op, my right thigh swelled up huge. I spent tues doing nothing but resting in my room ( I was outpatient this time). Tuesday night I told him it was hot to the touch and he showed up with a wheelchair and I am in clinic. I can't sit due to the swelling, it does not appear better or worse this morning but I am on stronger antibiotics and pain meds so I feel better. My vitals are excellent, no fever but clearly not ready to leave. -

Houston here. Looking for a doctor to do a revision. Had my surgery out of state. Any good recommendations for RNY revision surgeon?

If it were so easily remedied then you would think I would have gained some weight by now. I eat nuts all the time. Roasted, salted pecans handful after handful, roasted almonds, granola with nuts, P3 with nuts, cheese, and turkey. I can put away an entire can of the Planter's Nut·ritious within 24 hours. That stuff is like crack ???? It's definitely not my lack of eating. It will sort itself out, I'm sure. Then one day I'll be whining about needing a revision ????

SIPS Patient 4 weeks Post Op. Need to talk to people who have been in the same boat. HELP!
Peggy D replied to TheeThee82882's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Update on my revision from VSG to SA-DS/SIPS/loop DS (pick your choice of names - I like loop DS), three weeks post-op Recovery has been rocky to say the least. I spent the afternoon & evening in the ER on Saturday getting IV fluids & a CT scan (to check my new stomach staple line). Yesterday I had an endoscopy & had two strictures in my stomach dilated with a balloon. The strictures were causing a functional obstruction. It wasn't a complete obstruction but certainly more than enough to make it extremely difficult to drink all of my fluids & get my Protein shakes down. It also led to increasing vomiting. Today, I am much better & have been able to get fluids & protein down & they stay down. -
4 years revised from band to sleeve and I can eat anything but don't like uber spicey anymore. I have a general aversion to crappy low quality food but that's more because I deserve better. When I was banded, I could never tolerate rice.

Dec 28 2015.I had a revision from lapband to bypass with a hernia repaired .So it was more complex. -
Hello! I was banded with the Swedish gastric band about 10 years ago. It had worked great until about 3 years ago, when the tube popped off the port and all the liquid came out. I gained most of my weight back. Had anyone had revision surgery in the Raleigh-Fayetteville area and can recommend a surgeon? Thank you in advance for your answers.

Anyone else having their Surgery in Feb? I am getting a revision from VSG to RNY due to severe acid reflux. Anyone else in the same boat? -
I just had a lap band revision to bypass surgery one week ago. I am not supposed to eat any pureed foods for another day but I am so hungry. I just can't take anymore protein shakes. I eat applesauce when I need to mix my potassium and can take down more than 60 ounces of fluid. Anyone eat earlier than they were supposed to? What were the results?

I'm 1 1/2 weeks post op have weird stomach feeling
luvcamaro posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everybody!!! I hope you are all having a fantastic day! I am about 1 1/2 weeks out form surgery (surg date 1/7/16) and yesterday I started to get this weird feeling in my stomach. I am a lap band to sleeve revision and did not have alot of pain. Most of my pain is the incisions. This feeling is hard to describe but it is a combination of tingling at the base of my esophagus and light pulling in my chest/upper stomach. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if I should contact my surgeon or not. I have stuck to my post op diet and have not eaten anything I shouldn't. Should I be concerned?
