As a soon to be bander, I've been following the August banders posts frequently, to help me anticipate what I might expect. What a fabulous business lunch, and a great NSV to boot. Congrats!!

Tiff - I've never been called petite because I'm 5.6 and a half, but in the past week I've been called SKINNY or LITTLE three times!!!!!! I weigh 157.5 as of this morning!!! I've NEVER in my life been called either. I really don't know how to take this....it's really neat, but at the same time, I don't know how to respond, and when I look at myself, that is NOT what I see. This is all new to me. It's definitely a NSV I guess!! Congrats to you.....you are for sure, petite and tiny!!

I'm not approved yet, but I'm so excited!
YouKant4GetMe posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I know it's not as exciting as NSV's or insurance approval, but I've been working towards this for over 2 years. I did my 2nd of my 3 required psych appointments this morning, and I got my call from the hospital for my initial consultation today...farther than I have EVER been in this process! I wanted to scream and shout and tell everyone about it!!!....but then I remember I've chosen not to proactively tell everyone...yet. I have my 3rd/last psych appointment Monday (which is just to go over my results), and I head out of town to the hospital right after noon! What do I expect now as far as a timeline goes?! (That's assuming insurance doesnt deny me.) Can I guess in the meantime that I may have my surgery before the new year??? -
Sounds like you are doing wonderful! Congrats on all the NSVs!!!

Major NSV -- I Now Weigh Less Than My Hubby!
KathyD49 commented on Kris's blog entry in Kris' VSG Blog
Kris, Thanks for sharing! I was excited also when I weighed less than my hubbie, but I made that one BEFORE I even had the surgery, when I was still on the pre-op diet. My big NSV came when I returned back to California earlier this week. (I make my home in Iowa, but live and work in California most of the year.) I now weigh less than my roommate! What a thrill. She has always weighed less than me! I am taller than her by 3 inches, and she has always weighed less. But when I got on the scale this week, I weighed 4 pounds less than her! WOOHOO! What a thrill! I LOVE IT!And the BIGGEST thing I love, soon I will be able to shop ANYWHERE for clothes! I have already made my LAST TRIP to Lane Bryant!!!!! -
Great NSV. Keep up the good work! You are doing awsome.

Congratulations, you sound really great from just having surgery!!! Glad to know it's going well, with the exception of the port pain, but like you said that will pass and it will pretty quickly too. I wish you all the success in the world. Please keep us posted with inspirations of your weight loss and NSV's, and don't forget, if need be we are all here to support you. Cindy

My good friend has a new harley, and last time I saw him, we wanted to go for a ride. we both were over the weight limit. he has lost 65 pounds and I'm around 55 pounds. we are going riding next week. it was great to be able to fit in a size 16 again. good luck :grouphug:

Mini-Goals, anyone????
finallyformyself replied to Candace2314's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I too love mini-goals! Here is my blog link on OH and if you scroll down and look on the left side you can view my goals. Right now they are mostly based on weight but I think that will eventually change. I have a lot of mini-goals I guess in my list of NSV's on my blog. Good luck! http://www.obesityhelp.com/member/finallyformyself/ -
This morning's blood sugar level: 98! Very good!

Don't use the word "only" in front of how many pounds you have lost. You had surgery just barely over a month ago. How many pounds would you have lost in that time without surgery? 8 or 10 maybe? That is IF you had been able to stick to some extreme diet plan without ghrelin killing your good intentions. Did you take your measurements before surgery? If so, it's time to measure yourself again and marvel at how many inches you have lost. If not, then take them now to help with future hurdles. How about NSVs (non-scale victories)? Are your clothes looser? Are you able to walk further? Work harder/longer without fatigue? Do you FEEL better overall? I know that you are having issues with getting food in, but that will resolve itself as long as there is no underlying issue. It may be time to talk to your doctor or nutritionist about what the next stage in your diet should be, especially if you haven't progressed to soft regular foods yet. Depending on your doctor's plan, that's where it sounds like you should be. Work on getting in a little bit of food every 2-3 hours, even if, as Kelly said, it's just a few nuts. Perhaps have a cup of chicken broth instead of coffee. Don't worry too hard about not getting in veggies this early post-op. You will be able to add them as your new tummy heals. Do make sure that you are taking the recommended Vitamins and supplements to make up for the veggies, though. Your weight loss could be slower than you are expecting for a number of reasons. You could have started with a lower BMI than many here, or lost a good bit of weight pre-op. Both will slow down the weight loss immediately after surgery. It's also possible that you aren't eating enough food...like that's ever been a problem before, right? But, not feeding your body enough food makes it hang onto those pounds. When you are eating enough and providing adequate hydration, it's like the body calms down and says 'okay, I can lose a few of these stored pounds'. Good luck! I hope to hear from you soon saying that you are now losing steadily.

Getting Sleeved June 27th
iegal replied to KaitlynnHughes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you need to read your two favorite quotes...over and over. Yes, reaction is completely normal as you are having an optional surgery. Suggest you write down why you want this surgery and why you need this surgery. Be honest, putting down shopping in junior section is okay. Next, since you are new to site, read some of the NSV (non scale victory) posts by scrolling down. These are my sleeve brother and sisters getting excited over more than just a pound weight loss on the scale. Be excited, a new you is close at hand - insert your two favorite quotes please here. I love my sleeve and have no regrets. Best wishes and keep us posted. -
I am 4 1/2 months post-op and have a great NSV to share with you all. I was shopping at Wal-mart tonite when I turned the corner looking for something for my granddaughter when I ran into a co-worker from maybe 15 years ago. She looked at me took a double take and said "Diane you look great"!! Well we were standing there having a casual conversation and she kept looking at me, and looking at me and finally she said "I'm sorry that I keep looking at you but you look so great"!! "I just can't get over how good you look and you look 20 years younger"!!! WOW was my reply you don't need to say you are sorry you made my day!! Needless to say this big smile of mine isn't coming off my face for the rest of the day for sure!! And this from a woman who hasn't been more than 10 lbs. overweight for her entire fifty some years. Have a good rest of the day everyone I know I will. LOLS

My body, my band, my BETRAYAL
MamaJava replied to MamaJava's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the support, everybody! The thing is, I'm not upset at all that I've lost "only" 13 pounds. I know that's great! I'm upset because I should not be gaining. From everything I've learned, I should be steadily losing weight (I'm not worried about speed, here)..not gaining. I don't expect miracles...I only expect to be rewarded for what I'm doing...not punished. I'll keep moving forward, but I'm calling the facility tomorrow to see if I can talk to somebody. I know we are all different and I don't expect to be dropping big numbers right now. I just expect to be seeing changes and I'm not. I've also ADDED 3 inches. Hello?!? 1 in my neck, 1 in my waist and 1 in my hips. I still don't get it. I don't even get NSV's right now to be happy about. I'll just keep moving forward like I said before. I'm not a quitter, but I am easily discouraged and I get disappointed in my body very, very easily. -
Congrats on the NSV!! The chairs in our lunch room have arms on them and I can't wait to see what they feel like when I go back to school in the fall!
-
Awesome NSV!!! I have had the same issue in our conference room in the past. I always try and get there early to get a comfortable one. I have not been in there for a year now so I don't know if the chairs with arms are still uncomfortable or not, but I hope they aren't I might just need to sneak in try them out. Way to GO!!!!!!
-
The woman who sat in your chair is a real bitch! Thankfully, you don't need it anymore. Congrats on the wonderful NSV!!!
-
Next month you should be the first one to the meeting...an leave the armless chair for someone else!! Congrats on your NSV!!!!!

suchaprettyface good for you, rewarding yourself with a pedicure., you deserve it. Two months post-op, losing 50 lbs down is terrific.. Even looking into a full length mirror is ane great NSV. Things can get pretty rough in your personal life. Then dealing with your new sleeve and stress is very hard. You know how wonderful the sleeve is, i'll keep forward to seeing less of you. keep up the great work chin up too best kathy
