Good job! Those NSV's really feel great don't they?! I can't claim any this week (I'm actually up a lb). I was a total slug on the couch all weekend, so it makes sense. I think it's all emotional right now because I'm getting impatient and a tad disappointed about not having a job offer yet. I did apply for some more openings, and the one in SD could still happen (they just want to interview some others first), but it kinda zapped me out this weekend. I figured out that I need something besides the job hunt and upcoming move to keep me occupied and distracted from eating right now - that seems to be what helped me out on my trip (I was too busy to eat when I was in CA). I've packed or gotten rid of pretty much everything I can at this point without getting in the way of everyday life. No wonder I'm so dang antsy! Maybe a good long walk in the fresh SNOW (ugh) tonight at the dog park will help kick things back in gear (will definitely be fun watching poochie play in new snow). Anyway, I digress- nice work, all of you!!

    Feeling defeated

Thank you @Jeanne. I will. Today I’m better emotionally. I was just completely overwhelmed yesterday that the scale didn’t move again. It’s been a few weeks with no change. I’m trying to focus on NSV as someone told me yesterday. It’s been hard but I’m determined to stay positive and see it through.

    Minor (?) Progress

Congratulations, Megsy. Your loss is huge for anybody, and your NSV (Non scale Victory) with the pretty dress is awesome. I am sure you will make it to goal. Mimi

  5. My wife and I went away for an impromptu weekend away to one of our standard get away locations. Birch Run outlet mall in Birch Run MI. This was the first trip we've made to the mall since my having surgery. I was eager to go to some of the stores that my presurgery self would have never been able to shop, Tommy Hilfiger, RL Polo, Izod, etc. Let me also tell you that I am incredibly cheap and the only way I would ever buy anything at such stores was if it were on clearance and I had a stack of coupons. The clearance shopping gods were smiling on me this weekend! Not only were there some great prices, perfectly caught the end of summer season polos, jeans, shorts, etc but I was able to fit in sizes I would have never before dreamed. All of my new polo shirts are XL with the button up shirts XXL. What a dramatic difference from the 3XLT polos and 4-5XL button ups I would have had to previously purchase. Now the really exciting stuff...pants....I'm wearing 34 jeans from Levis, Tommy, Gap and Nautica and 36 dress pants from the same places. This is an area I would have NEVER imagined I would be. That takes my jean size change from 48 to 34 and dress pants from 50 to 36, unfreaking believable!
  6. I got the new Lane Bryant catalog today in the mail....I thumbed through it...and tossed in the trash!! Woo Hoo....don't have to shop at LB anymore. It felt good
  7. So, although I was nervous about it, I went for my first business lunch with a senior executive from our head office in Toronto. Reservations were at a swanky restaurant on the beach in Vancouver. I agonized over what I would eat and what I would wear... I checked the restaurant's website and decided that the BC grilled salmon and greens w/b best and that I just wouldn't eat what looked dubious. I haven't had a fill yet but have restriction so need to be very careful about what I eat and how I chew. As well, I found an outfit that I hadn't worn since 2004 and that fit me albeit the pants were a bit loose (that felt good!). So I got to the restaurant and ordered a Water with lemon while I waited. When I rose to greet him he gave me a hug and said "wow, you look fantastic, what have you been doing?" I couldn't have been happier. When the food came, I ate very slowly, took small bites, and chewed well. The salmon melted in my mouth...good choice...can't go wrong with fresh BC salmon. Although I couldn't finish the meal, it wasn't awkward or uncomfortable. I simply left what I couldn't eat. I must say that this was a great NSV!!! I managed to get through my first business lunch without any mishaps and had a great time.

    NSV!

Yesterday we had dinner at my fiance's parents' house as we usually do. My future father in law is a nice guy but kind of quiet (like me), so our conversations are kind of limited. When we walked in, almost immediately he said "You've lost a lot of weight! You're doing good." I was so surprised I almost didn't know what to say! It was even nicer to hear because my weight loss has been slow lately and I've been feeling kind of down about it. So happy!

  11. I think the NSV moments are worth far more than the scale moving.

    An NSV I didn't realize!

That's wonderful! I've had to adjust the seat in my car several times since surgery. It's a nice little NSV that you wouldn't think about otherwise. Hooray for smaller tushies!

    Looking for a Buddy

Welcome Barbara! Click on anyone's Ticker picture and it will take you to the website where you can pick your ticker. You make it however you want, but it usually measures the weight...20 pounds gone, 80 to go...that type of thing. Great NSVs!!! You should stay on mushies until your doc tells you to move to more solid foods. And mushie foods are foods to avoid once you are past the healing phase (6 weeks or so). You get fuller faster and stay fuller longer on well-chewed solid protiens and veggies, with no liquids during your meal and for about an hour after. I still eat some mushies though. Guacamole...yummy. Anyhow, follow your doc's diet plan. And yes, try to drink your 64 ounces of Water but you were only banded a week ago?!! Hello! Take your time getting up to 64 ounces a day. Drink as much as you can and make that water a big priority, but if it's not up there yet, it will be later. Take it easy! hehe. Glad you are having a great recovery. Welcome to LBT!

    NSV!

Last night my hubby hugged me and said "I can tell you've gotten smaller, my arms fit around you better!" I was so happy. I don't really notice the weight loss, so it's nice to know that other people do. I have an amazing hubby who would love me no matter what, but I'm glad he is noticing!
  17. I forgot to report my NSV: At the doctor's today, my BP was 110/51...I think that is good?

    Collarbone!

That is one of my favorite NSVs still to this day. Wait until you see the hollow under the collar bone too. Congrats!
  19. My pants are looser, my band is looser but I still have not seen any movement on the darn scale! Another NSV, when I thru my daughters birthday EVERYONE commented on how "skinny" I am now...How can that be and I still am not losing? Hm...
  20. One year ago today, I was given one year to live if I didn't get a lot of my extra weight off me in a hurry. It's only 6:40pm, but I'm hoping I'll live until Midnight. Just thought I'd share that huge milestone with my family here. I'll Celebrate with an extra long workout tomorrow morning! And a cup of decaf coffee!!

Happy St Patricks Day everyone!! I finally had an NSV!! I wanted to wear something green today of course. I could only wear one blouse because they were all too big!!! My pants from Kohls I just bought are a 16w and the zip up perfectly!! Finally I am starting to see progress. Better late than never. I know returning to the Crazy Ates definitely gave me the motivation I needed. Thanks and enjoy your day!! I know I will!!!

    List of NSVs

I've plateaued for over a month, and instead if feeling down about it, I wanted to share a little about how my life has changed in the past 3 months: * Went from a 4x to a 2x in tops * Went from a 26/28 to a 22 in bottoms * I can fit in chairs with arms * I can fit in a stadium seat * I can fit in a movie theater seat * I can fit in a restaurant booth * I went roller skating * I can run after my 4 year old at the park * I don't sweat profusely anymore * I can use a backseat seatbelt, and fit in the backseat of a car * Training for a 5k. What?!! * I can still breathe when I bend over to tie my shoes * I put a recent picture of myself on Facebook, lol I know there are more, but this is a huge difference for me. I used to stay indoors all the time, I would get winded from short walks and my body would hurt so bad with any physical activity. I stayed away from a lot of social activities because of my size. I'm not afraid to try something new now. I know it's super cliche, but I feel like I have my life back.
