    Frustrated & discouraged

I am so sorry you are having a hard time and are feeling frustrated. ((GIANT HUGS)) I had a 2 month period where I gained and lost the same few pounds as well. It can be VERY frustrating. Unlike you though I didn't have any restriction until my last fill which finally has me losing again. So hang in there!! When you are looser at night do you still restrict your amounts and measure out what you eat? If you are eating the right foods, but too much... try using a measuring cup you may be surprised. I know you say you are pretty tight, maybe just a scooth more will do the trick. Did you ask your Dr? Are you avoiding slider foods? I know it is frustrating at times but hang in there. As hard as it is... you cannot compare your weighloss to others. Everyone is built differently, some people have a substantial amount to lose (like me) so it comes off quicker initially.

    Xelerate? any reviews ?

Vegaswildflower........I asked my pharmacist about this ( he is also my son lol) and here is the email he sent back to me. Hope it helps. well the first five ingredients are different kinds Vitamin b's. Iodine surprises me because that is very hard to find either otc or rx caffeine is good to get you going if this is suppose to increase energy and weight loss grape fruit extract - there are a lot of drug interactions with this one so be careful if you are on a lot of drugs - most important, either consistently take this or not, not for as needed use 5-HTP (for short) is the ingredient found in turkey that makes you drowsy - not sure why it would be in this the rest I have never heard of or are basic building blocks that your muscles need to grow and function RAE

    weight not coming off

we don't really have a "prime" time to lose weight. Part of the beauty of the band. And 40 in 4 is damn good. 100 pounds in a year may be setting yourself up for disapointment. I don't know what your starting weight was/is, but if you are a really high BMI person, this is more do-able than if you are closer to 40 or less. I just don't want you to set an unrealistic goal, then feel like a failure when you've already done such good work.

    OMG-this is sooooooooo slow

I started out in October at about the same weight as you. I will be very pleased to have lost 46 pounds in 7 months! You are doing great.

afraid not going to lose enough

My doctor told me right away that once my weight gets under 190-200 pounds, the weight will come off slower. That I will just need to make sure to keep doing exactly what I've been told to do and it will come off just not as fast as it did before. HW: 331 SW: 11/26/12 319lbs CW: 219 05/26/13 GW: 157
  6. Are you watching your simple carbs? They are a huge culprit of head hunger for me. I do eat the good carbs fruit, green veggies, milk and limited whole grains. But I won't touch the strachy high glycemic ones like potato, corn, Pasta, rice, white flour and sugar. Just a little and my head hunger goes wild. The best cure for boredom, weight loss AND head hunger is physical activity. I don't sit and watch TV anymore--other than dinnertime I don't sit still period. I exercise, go for a walk or start a project around the house. I have stopped watching TV so much and keep as active as possible in the evenings And I have gotten so much accomplished! I come home from work, go for a walk or do my workout, get dinner out of the way then start a project. I am so tired by bedtime that I just want to go to sleep. During the warm months I got all kinds of gardening projects done in the yard, remodeled my patio and organized the garage and tool shed, painted the shutters... Now that the weather is colder, I am working inside going room by room and completely organizing, cleaning closets and organizing drawers, painting ceilings and walls, organizing, cleaining carpets waxing floors...the whole nine yards. The only TV watching I get is in the background while I am keeping busy. I rarely think about food in between meals like I used to and I credit that to watching my carbs and keeping busy.

    A Couple of questions.

I will give you the opposite side since I see my clinic as more conservative than most I see here. We are told that we should ALWAYS follow the 30/30/30 rule. That rule is no drinking 30 minutes before eating, chew every bite 30 times, and no drinking for 30 minutes after finishing eating. Drinking while eating allows you to eat more since it pushes the food through your pouch. Stopping drinking and waiting to drink is making use of the tool that RNY is. Not following his rule most believe will lead to weight gain over time. As for eating carbs... We should always eat our Protein first. We must also make our protein goal. Once those are met adding in some carbs is fine. I have had potatoes, rice, crackers, and bread. The one thing that my NUT told me I should not go back to is Cereal for Breakfast. I always enjoyed oatmeal for breakfast. There is simply not enough protein in any of the cereals to make the daily protein goal. It's different for each of us, but I hope this helps. Good luck!!
  8. I had my revision all in one surgery on July 14th. Did good the first ten days out, lost 15. Then the hunger set in. After reading on here about an acid blocker, I went back on the one sent home with me after surgery, didn't help. Moved on to nexium, nope no luck, am now on to OTC proposed, two pills, totally 40mg a day. Am still feeling the knowing feeling in my stomach. You know like how iy feels when you realize you've gone too long without eating.I have to stay under 1000 calories a day and still no weight loss, I can go for about a week before breaking down and just eating. That's the other problem too, I am feeling no restriction what so ever. This is my second was surgery and I feel like such a failure.

    Anxiety through the roof! Help!

Your anxiety is TOTALLY normal! I'm a mom, I get it. I was pretty terrified too. But I am now 10 months post op and have NO REGRETS! You will get through this! I want to piggy back on the person who said there is no safer place than an OR table. I agree. If your surgeon thought there was a reason why you might not make it, and that the risk was greater than having a successful outcome, they wouldn't let you have surgery. I know you are scared...but do it anyway. Conquer the fear! You're going to learn so much about yourself and your capabilities after this surgery. It's as much a self love adventure as it is a weight loss one!

    Pre-op start up

Well my first blog was about making my first call to UNC and waiting to hear from my Case Manager That call was made on Monday. Well I got the call today which was very quick because I was told it would take up to 7 days to hear back from them, but anyway she informed me that I would be approved once I have completed my pre-weight loss program then in 4 months I will start working with a surgeon, and start the next step. I am so excited to get this process started.

  12. Hi everyone! It's me Heather! hahaha sorry I haven't been around much but life sure get's busy and time flies by! Question 1: How do I stop all of the notifications coming to my email? I have tried and tried and tried and no matter what, they come anyways. (when someone posts a new topic, when someone replies to a topic, etc etc) --- I just don't need (or want) a bazillion BP emails a day. Question 2: How do I manage my weight progress through my phone? Anytime I want to update stuff like that - I can't for the life of me figure it out with my mobile app! Is there is such a way? It's annoying because I only use my computer at work and it is very outdated (boss wont allow updates grrr hahaha) So thank you in advance if you can help this gal out! Heather

  15. Vogue, I love Mio and it sounds great to put it on crushed ice! You did great to only gain 2 pounds. We won't be on a cruise, but the all-inclusive resort is a very large property. They have golf cart shuttles to get around, but I intend to walk. It is approximately 1/2 mile from the beach to the restaurants. I believe there are 7 pools, so I can exercise in the Water also. The rooms do have small refrigerators that they provide free beer, water and soft drinks in, but I could take some shakes and put them in there. There is a lot of free alcohol provided in the room also, but not an issue for me as I have never been much of a drinker and have given it up totally now. I would rather eat my calories! Interesting you would mention the chocolate cake. All the best Desserts are chocolate! However, I have found since my sleeve that even one bite of a true chocolate dessert upsets my sleeve terribly. Or perhaps it is more correct to say my intestines are upset. It makes me bloated and miserable. I am not sure why.
  16. Personally, I would aim for not gaining while on vacation at an all-inclusive rather than looking for a loss. I feel like that would be a good compromise for me on vacation. That would allow for some indulgence. Try to stick with the Protein first rule so you don't have room for too much junk. And have fun!
  17. I would like to hear tips and suggestions from others for when traveling for business or on vacation. I just finished two weeks of work related travel where someone else was controlling much of the food offered, which included dessert placed in front of me twice a day. I am pleased that I was still able to lose four pounds in two weeks. I made every effort to get extra exercise, such as always taking the stairs. According to my Fitbit my best day was 39 flights of stairs! (note, I nearly died on the staircase the first two days ) I traveled by car so I took a small cooler along with ready to drink shakes. I also had a few protein bars with me. I also packed as much willpower as I could fit in my suitcase. Talking to my husband each evening helped as I could share the temptation in front of me. I am going to an all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic in a few weeks. Since I will be traveling by air I can't take my cooler filled with protein shakes. Please share your suggestions for how I can enjoy the trip, including the many restaurants and constantly available food, yet not gain back any of the hard lost weight.

Well I thought I would write something on my blog page, I am now 11 and a bit stone down since being banded 24th NOV 07 I stay have another 2 stone to go soooo hopefully by my 2 year bandanniversary I will be there weight wise and also I have asked my doctor to put me forward for a tummy tuck so here,s hoping. I have been away for the w/end staying with my brother and his partner so trying to be semi good was hard, I am actually get weighted tonite so only time will tell.
  20. Has anyone else out there developed esophogeal ulcers from your band? I am 4 years post op, stable weight, x 2 years with no fills in that time, and all of a sudden I lost any restriction, am hungry and can eat anything I try. These are all new symptoms for me. I tried another fill, and it did not help, but my doctor scoped me , endoscopy to find I have a bleeding esopogeal ulcer that he thinks is caused by my band, and removed all the fill until it is healed. ( how long? don't know)... but that doesn't answer my questions of why I had no restriction... has any one experienced any post op problems, needing your band removed and why?

    Excess Skin

I would really like some information from those of you who have already had the surgery in regards to excess skin from the weight. I know that the health benefits are greater than the issue of excess skin, but I have to be honest and say that it has definetly crossed my mind a few times here in my pre-op stage. My surgery is set for 2/5/09.

    Tattoos!

I'd be curious to know too as I also have a lot of tattoos. I figure I can always get them touched up/added to/covered up if they look too weird/bad after I lose weight. But yeah, I've been thinking about investing in some kind of skin firming lotion to use as I lose weight, but I still need to look into that (I know strivectin works really well but it's *really* pricey, I know vitamin e is supposed to work too, but I don't know)

  24. There's a store front that anyone can go to a buy a Protein shake. They make all different kinds of flavors. They also do a wellness evaluation. They stick some electrode on your hands and feet. It tells you your BMI, your muscle mass, fat mass and it will tell you what your weight should be. My goal is to be 135, but that evaluation said that I already have 133lbs of muscle mass and that I should be 168 at my lowest!! REALLY?? Has anyone tried this wellness evaluation? I don't know if nut's do this at their office or maybe your dr does it. PS. I like their scale better, said I was 4 pounds light than what my home scale says....

XP: Successful Bandsters Past and Present

I think the three things that are crucial for me are 1, exercise, 2, cutting carbs and sugar 3, cutting down snacking. Iv had a few setbacks, a heat rash that spread and spread until I had to go see a dermatologist and lost a month not walking or exercising. A cruise set me back and other cruises planned, so Im not going to set any weight loss records. Lost the weight before and pushed and pushed, but then like you I got tired of "dieting" and ate all the fried and sugary foods I wanted and gained it back very very fast. This time Im doing it slow but sure. Im not depriving myself like I did before, just being better about some foods and making sure I walk/jog, which I just got back to a week ago. I do have some treats still, if my family has a sub, I do too, but not every day and I might skip Breakfast if I do. My ticker doesnt reflect the weight I lost pre surgery, only the weight Iv lost since the surgery. At least Im finally back in Onederland. Iv lost the easy weight, now Im just doing 10 lbs at a time. I try and just concentrate on the ten pounds Im working on, so I dont get discouraged.
