  1. You haven’t been hungry since 10/17/2017??? 😳
  2. SO I am being seen next week for evaluation to revise my 10 year lap band to a gastric sleeve. Does anyone know if Aetna requires even the revisional patients to follow the 6 month nutrition plan requirement? I know i did it the first time jut not sure what is different with the revision.
  3. If it makes you feel any better - my GOAL weight is 225-240! 😜 I had surgery on 10/10/18 - highest weight was 365 - surgery weight 337 and current weight 260 (and I’m jumping up and down happy LOL!). Good luck with your journey! It’s a wonderful tool!! 👍
  4. You're so close!! Just think that the next part of your life is right after that surgery! The next 10-11 months for me feel like torture lol, if I could I'd go in today to get it over with. Yes it's a harsh diet, but I think with the sleeve as a tool it'll be great. Just in the meantime with my fat belly telling me it's hungry lol Good luck with your surgery!! Fingers crossed!

    ❤MARCH 2019 CHALLENGE❤

Honestly, I haven't made progress on the scale....but I'm at one of those weights that is an old set point. So, I'm working to out-stubborn the darn thing. But this week, I noticed my thighs seem to have done a bit of disappearing. I don't think the scale necessarily keeps up with all the rest of the activity going on with my body's changes. 19. I'm with DanaC84. I am proud that I've made my home my home. Also some of my artwork. Oh, and yes, some of my poetry.

    TRANSFORMATION TUESDAYS

This is perfect for me because Mon or Tues are when I log my weight for the week. I’m currently working towards a smaller goal of 10 lbs. I was hoping to hit it by the end of March but 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Non Scale Victories

Yesterday while in for my 10/11 month check up I was scheduling my 12 month follow up. The receptionist looked at my photo in the system and said “dang you look totally different!” The other lady in the waiting room who was having a pre surgery appt asked if she could ask me some questions. Total convo about yeah the number change is amazing (and frustrating) but more than that are all the NSVs that I’ve had and at.

    I'm not doing well

So, I got home at 10 PM last night. It was a long day! They thought I had a leak. 1 cat scan, upper Gi and back to the cat scan and he says I'm ok. He said he's never seen air bubbles at 3 weeks post op. I must have a virus. I was so weak and ran a fever for 3 days. I seen to feel a little better, but still weak. I'm going to try and get more food in today. I'm at 40 lbs lost and I've not had a lot of nutrition. I ate some fruit, first time since surgery and going to eat eggs in a bit. Thanks for all your concerns! I love this site! You ALL are amazing!!😘😘

    ❤MARCH 2019 CHALLENGE❤

    19) what I’ve made that I’m most proud of is a relatively happy home.
  11. What was your starting weight? My surgery weight was 262 and i lost 54 pounds in the first 5 months after surgery. I think you’re doing just fine! I had the same concerns, but it’s just a more gradual process than we expect because it’s such a drastic change. Unfortunately, the weight doesn’t just fall off like we hope it will. Keep your head up! I’ve lost over a hundred pounds in the past 10 months and I haven’t done much more than eat a lot less. This winter has been rough and I haven’t been exercising. So I feel like my weight loss has been due primarily to the surgery alone.
  12. I'm so happy! 3 week post opt and today was the 1st day I was able to take all my medication with out any problems. It took a while but I did it. All 10 of them. Its a good day. It was really hard with one medication that I have to take 2 a day but not no more. I tried liquid but they where nasty.
  13. Hi I haven't been here on a while I just have a question for everyone is it just me or what I feel I'm losing really slow I've only lost 45lbs since surgery 10 26 I feel like I should be at least between 50 to 60 by now. I haven't been eating anything crazy maybe twice a week I've had carbs but it isn't much. My Dr told me not to worry but now I'm worrying wondering am I really gonna lose any more. I thought I would have lost more before I would have to do my part of the surgery but apparently not smh. Needing encouragement about now😞

    Low BMI Surgery

Hello I was on the lower BMI end. I have dropped 50 lbs in 4 months. I have about 10-12 lbs more to meet my doctors goal. I think I will have to be more strict on my eating habits to get there. I have been pretty steady on lack of weight loss the last 3 weeks. I have also been sick and on steroids so that could play a roll. The surgery was a blessing for me. I feel amazing. My body doesn’t hurt like it did when carrying the extra weight.

    Confused

The initial consultation is just that, a consultation. The doctor reviews your history and you discuss options. Depending on the direction the 2 of you agree to go, you'll start with the pre-op testing and treatment. Like the above posters, I had to fill out a comprehensive health history evaluation ahead of the appointment. I think I really only spent about 10 or 15 minutes with the doctor, who reviewed my health history and even had my insurance requirements in front of her. She really didn't even do an examination. I left the office with plans to proceed with upper GI, psych evaluation, and nutritional counseling.
  16. Hi everyone I had VSG surgery on 3/14/19 and it was horrible! I regret having this surgery. I winded up seeing that my left lung partially collapsed. My surgeon called me and said I'm fine. I have 50/50 with my breathing I am trying not to be so anxious about this but I can't help it I'm trying everything to get better. Anything I should do then relax? Please help Sent from my moto g(6) play using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. Since my surgery (2 Mar 19) I've been experiencing all around discomfort. drinking water causes a number of gurgles, burps, and split second heartburn. I'm nauseous most of the time so my food intake is dismal. acid reflux is present but not unbearable and just a constant general discomfort in my abdomen and I'm beyond lethargic, which I'm guessing is because of my lack of nutrients. Doctors ran leak test and check blood and found nothing. I'm just wondering is this common, and i just need time to heal? or is this cause for concern?

Preparing for surgery, very scared. Tips??

I've heard the first week or so is super hard. I really believe you can do this! Hold on, and stay in there! From what people have said it's going to be worth it in the long run. I havent have wls yet, I'm due in may....but I've had 6 ankle surgeries from a break when I was 10...still have issues with it. I get the no sleep, on top of the wrenching pains. I hope it gets better for you! Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. 2019 - A New Year and a New Start on life!!!!

On 3/14 - I went into the Hospital at 6am to have my surgery <the sleeve>.   My weigh at that time was 278 pounds.   On this day I was in and out of it I don't remember a whole lot I just remember being in a lot of pain.

On 3/15 - They made me get up and walk a few times in the middle of the night and walk doctor came in and I was able to be discharged if I was eating and doing everything on his little checklist.   I went home at 6pm.  All I remember was going home crawling into bed and taking more pain medicine it felt like I got hit in the stomach about 50 times.

On 3/16 - I know they say that walking is the best thing you can do after having surgeries but I was not feeling it at all every time I sat up, I got dizzy needless to say this day I didn't get much walking in and the smell of food just made me gag.  I couldn't even take the pain medicine that was in liquid form.  I stayed in bed for most of the day.

On 3/17 - I did a lot better on this day I was actually able to eat a little bit of Jell-O and drink a little bit of broth.    Still can't seem to take that pain medicine without wanting to gag.   I definitely have been able to keep down water and even had my nephew take a little bit of Crystal Light and some ice chips and mix it in a bullet to make like a slushie.  That was yummy!

This brings me to today 3/18 - I have been trying to drink protein water to get protein in my body. I was able to eat some Jell-O today and keep it down. I also was able to sit up for 5 hours and was able to be sociable again.  I was also finally able to take some pain medicine again without gagging <Thank God>.     Pain is slowly going away.   I have my first one week doctor visit on 3/20 so we will see how that goes

    Sleeve to DS

I was sleeved 1/17 I did great. My dr called me a “super acchiever” until my 2 year mark when I had gained 20 lbs back. After his pep talk i gained another 10. Sigh. Now I’m looking at DS and it’s appealing. Especially eliminating the hunger factor. My high weight was 283 lowest 171 current 205. My questions are is it too soon to start thinking about revising and if not would you all do it again. I love my sleeve no complications at all and an easy recovery wondering how recovery is vs the sleeve. Thanks in advance!

    Bypass

Hi, Frustr8!! You bet I'm excited! Been waiting 10 months. I start my liver shrinking diet day after tomorrow, and the surgery is a week from Wednesday! I'm ready to start a new chapter of my life and get my health back on track. Thanks for thinking of me. I love your posts!!
  22. And now the May 2019s are starting to show up. A warm friendly welcome to both of you. I am an RnY of 6 1/2 months, had some setbacks but I do not regret the choice I made. For me it was the very best, and as I lose weight, getting fitter and healthier, I can only be grateful that my past is behind me!
  23. ttn: walking into this bariatric experience, I heard alot of stuff I've heard before (e.g. portion control). What was new, & novel, to me: using smaller dishes, smaller silverware. I literally switched to pediatric size utensils; sandwich plate replaced standard size dinner plate. I didn't care what it looked like, or what people said..all I knew was that it slowed me down. Altered the previous engrained behavior of "shoveling" it in, if you know what I mean. Imagine my surprise when I actually began to savor food! OMG, no lie. That goes for chewing thoroughly as well (a daily conscious choice). It seems the world has gone super-size. Eating out, I divide those huge portions in half as soon as the plate is put in front of me. No doggie bags go home with me. Meals w family/friends....the comments that inevitably arise ("have another, you've hardly eaten", or the killer "you've gotten too thin"). My responses of choice: "just takin' a break", or, "maybe later". No thank you's didn't seem to work. Over time my tastes changed. I find fried, greasy, high fat foods (a previous staple)aren't palatable any more. As has red meat. Go figure. I was raised on beef, butter, & potatoes. All if which smothered in gravy. Your health is the priority. It's not about getting thin, or size 10 or beauty, or pleasing others. It's a process, fer sure. But it's entirely do-able. (Apologies for the rant).
  24. I'm a finisher of a half marathon! Completed yesterday on a beautiful day to run. My hips and Knee are pretty angry with me today, but we finished at 2:19. Not bad for my first half. I was able to run with my wife, so that made it much nicer and easier to get through
