    Sept. 8th & 9th Gastric Bypass surgery.

AngelicHG7 I'll have to let you know I'm at my house until Tues. (I take care of my mom with my daughter. She in respice). Most of my product is at my mom's house, because that's where we are at most of the time. When I was drinking it was when I was during my 6 mons. Is the name of the protein you ordered on Amazon called GENEPRO. I understand you can even sprinkle it on your food.I bought some ready made. I don't see the doctor until the 29th. To get all final details

Btw.... The genepro is awesome.... The scoops are so small and it didn't change the taste or consistency of my soup at all. It's definitely worth it.

    Genepro. Stay away

My MD said absolutely no to Genepro
  4. @@nancynew have you tried GENEPRO? It is a "tasteless" powder that has 30g of protein for just 1 tbsp. I start my day off with it mixed with decaf coffee and a little SF creamerHello RosemarySo I put Genepro in my decaf coffee this morning. Along with my creamer and it was so good. Blended well , didn't even know it was in there. Have you tried putting Genepro in other things ? I was wondering if it blends well in cold or room temperature foods / drinks. I drink v8 juice , gonna try it in that later today. My NUT said should be whey isolate Proteins. I don't think Genepro is an isolate. I'm going to take it with me to my NUT appt on Monday. She what she thinks. I've read that their claims on product information isn't what it really claims to be. But that's just what I've heard and read. Definitely don't take my word. Research it and show to your dr... That's why I didn't even bother with buying it....

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

Hi Luckz! I had mine on 11/24. Yes, I also cannot tolerate the protein shakes now, they honestly disgust me. Don’t tell my hubby that, he just bought me two more cases. My dietician suggested that if you don’t like something initially, to give it a second try 7 days later. It’s supposed to be better the second time. They just stare at me now whenever I open the fridge. 🤣 have you tried protein powder? I got the GenePro one, it’s a little more expensive than the others, but my dietician says this is one of the best. I honestly got it only because it was unflavored, I hoped I’d be able to throw it in anything I ate to help get the protein numbers in each day. I mix it with cottage cheese and it’s been delightful! What do you like these days? Anything that’s worked for you?? I’m all ears!

    Sept. 8th & 9th Gastric Bypass surgery.

I usually drink a 35g can protein shake in the morning and at lunch I eat soup and add 30g of Genepro protein. I also sip on hot tea and crystal lite throughout the day and at some point I will have iced tea. I eat Greek yogurt which gives me about 12g protein and if I want a coffee treat I do decaf coffee mixed with chocolate mocha protein 25g... But not everyday. I manage to get at least 60g of protein in everyday ... Sometimes more. Drinking is very easy for me but the soups, pudding and yogurts fill me up quickly. I have no clue if I am getting 64 ounces of what is considered liquids but I know I am not drinking enough plain water.

    Genepro. Stay away

I'd never heard of them prior to joining this site. Went to look them up and one of the first results was "Genepro lawsuit"...lol. At least one company is suing them (to be fair other manufacturers have gotten in trouble for misleading info): https://www.law360.com/articles/865678/protein-powder-maker-accuses-rival-of-false-advertising Missouri Eastern District Court Case No. 1:16-cv-00274 SI03, Inc. v. Genepro. Stay away

I just cannot understand why this discussion won't die. The ingredients specifically say it is made from whey protein. I don't care what "magic" they allegedly perform, it is impossible for there to be 30 grams of "equivalent" protein in a tablespoon serving and only 98 calories. The thing that is so hard to understand is that there are so many real protein supplements that there is no question or debate on the efficacy of the product. The only thing that Genepro has going for it that is not up for debate is how well it dissolves in liquid. That is not enough to warrant wasting money on it.

    Genepro. Stay away

Question for OP, did your doctor say there was anything harmful with using Genepro or just the discrepancy with the protein amount? I have been using it post op and never heard of it before this site. I might not buy it again but if you or anyone has heard it is dangerous I might be more inclined to stop using now. My team hasn't heard of it and just told me the generic "watch your carbs with protein" answer.

    Perfect mix!

Cream of wheat made with Water, once cooked (runny consistency) splash of almond coconut milk, 1 scoop GENEPRO unflavored Protein, drop of pure vanilla, tsp of light agave . This fills me up and gives me a good base to get my Vitamins in. Perfect breakfast! Try it! Used to eat steel cut oats all the time but this will work for now!

Syntrax Nectar taste - Clear liquid help

@@jas84047 I use TG's and GENEPRO. Genepro has 30g per scoop, which is half the amount of most unflavored powders, but there have been questions about whether or not it can truly offer such Protein value per 15g serving. So I alternate it with TG's, which has a hefty scoop, and not as high protein value (I believe it is 25g per scoop). Yes, there is a taste to unflavored protein, I liken it to coffee creamer flavor, but not as sweet. With the Water Enhancer drops, you hardly notice the protein flavor. Remember, unflavored does NOT mean there is no flavor, it is just that they don't ADD flavor. You can also add the powder to just about anything wet: Soups, V8, other juices (watch the carbs!), scrambled eggs, coffee/tea (try iced - I like chai-spice iced tea!!!) chili, stews..... You may have to mix it with a little cool water before adding it to hot foods (or it might clump). Be creative and when you find new ways to use it, please SHARE!!!!! I meant to say TWICE the protein of most powders, for GenePro. Not half. SORRY! It is half the scoop size.
  12. @@jas84047, I'm a big fan of the lemon tea, and using a shaker bottle fixed my foam and clump problems completely. Avoid GENEPRO - it's impossible to have 30 g of Protein in 15 g of powder, their labelling is misleading and no studies to date have shown their 15 g of protein to be better absorbed, etc, than other protein isolates. Another, savory option, is pho broth. It's rich, salty, savory, and packed with protein. Check out the recipe here if you like - this stuff kept me going post-op and had enough calories (more than Syntrax per volume) to give my body what it needed to heal quickly despite the minimal volumes I was able to consume. I also have a protein-packed jello-like recipe if you like here. Congrats, by the way, on your surgery choice - I'm so excited for you - this side of things is beautiful!

    Genepro

Well their claim is a bit outlandish and clearly falls in the "too good to be true" category. I would imagine that no food has 100% full absorption / 100% bio-availability, so when they make outlandish claims the burden of responsibility to support those claims falls on them. Here is their "study" supporting their claims http://www.musclegen.net/documents/geneproClinicalTrial.pdf (note its a small short term, small sample size, poorly controlled clinical train paid for by them). Personally I think their claims are 100% bs and wildly exaggerated. That said I dont think the product is bad for you, it is very much a protein supplement. That said its very likely that youre really only getting somewhere in the 11-15g range of protein per serving and absolutely not 30g. The TLDR: is basically Genepro is very likely giving you substantially less than 30g of ACTUAL protein per serving, which makes it overpriced and difficult to accurately track your macros. But if you dont mind overpaying for an easy to dissolve flavorless protein its probably just as fine as any other protein powder as a protein source. Youll just have to make an educated guess on how much protein youre consuming, and probably double their dosages to get that actual amount

    May Surgeries - check in!

I might be older than you think.. I'll be 57 on June 12th. As to what I am doing, drink, drink and drink some more. Get those fluids in and I am still on the low side myself at about 48 ounces of water/fluid a day, as they are most important even more so than protein at this point. I only drink plain water and decaf tea. I eat, Cream of Wheat, tuna, greek yogurt, jello, cream of chicken soup, and chicken or beef broth and for a treat frozen pudding pops or outshine popcicles. I have one scoop of Genepro added to either my cream of wheat or cream of chicken soup. I am limited on my protein to 43 grams a day as I have Chronic Kidney Disease. I have not done much in exercise as its only been one week other than the walking. I do plan on incorporating more exercises even those that I can do with minimal jumping around like legs lifts and arm circles. Good Luck Every One.

    Genepro Users-check this out.

Please don't knock a product until you have tried it. Me and three other sleevers all use Genepro EXCLUSIVELY daily. Love it in our soymilk and in our beans and cheese. It has been approved by our surgeons, and we all are well within our normal protein ranges up to 6 months post op. I will continue to use this product and feel confident in its content.

    Late June Sleeve Buddies?

Hi! Little late to the group but better late than never I had my surgery June 23rd. I've lost 33 lbs total so far but 15 lbs of that was on my pre op diet. I'm still on liquids till Thursday then I go to puréed foods & I can't wait!! I've had several dreams of real food! I couldn't stomach the premier Protein shakes after surgery they just felt heavy in my stomach so GENEPRO and fair life chocolate milk has been my savior. I'm over the sweet though! And have to admit I may have licked a potato chip just for some salty goodness! I know it's horrible but I didn't eat it! Glad to join the group and loved reading all your posts! Does it taste good?

GenePro has no flavor so what ever flavoring you add to the water and powder is what it tastes like. It cost about $1 per serving of 8oz water and 1 scoop GenePro and it gives you 30 grams of Protein. I drink 1 glass every morning and helps me make sure I meet my protein goals.
  19. @@ssourgirl Maybe try GENEPRO, found on Amazon.com. It is a tiny scoop (compared to most unflavored whey powders), and you hardly notice it is there. It can be mixed in hot or cold beverages, and has virtually no taste. It has different size packages it comes in, up to 3lbs. And I think it is very reasonable. As for being nauseous, try drinking tepid Water as opposed to cold, so it isn't such a shock to the new tummy. Use the Water Enhancer drops (SOOOOO many flavors to choose from, as well as different brands) to help get in the fluids she needs. This is a life-time thing we need to do for ourselves, so find something you really like. Try mixing different flavors, too. Good luck! OH! The GenePro has 30g of Protein per tiny scoop! Hurray!

    Protein help

I was gonna buy some GENEPRO but I keep seeing bad reviews about it too.. Then the lady at gmc suggest the Isopure powder. The only thing I've managed to do that I can drink so far is mix it with some Water and put a squirt of watermelon flavoring in it. But still, I would like to find a much easier solution. Honest truth about genepro protein powder

The honest truth is that GENEPRO is a scam. There are 15 grams in a tablespoon. A tablespoon cannot contain 30 grams of Protein any more than one cup can hold two cups of Water. Genepro is sold to bariatric patients. Bariatric patients don't know any better. There is no regulation of protein or any other supplements. They are making lots of money by lying about their product and selling it to people who are naïve enough to believe.
