A year out from surgery, what is your daily diet consist of?
SeahawksFan replied to Gail Ann's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
19 months post surgery. Been at goal for 14 months or so. This is what I ate yesterday. I do typically on the weekends have a few treats. ie last weekend I had one champagne cupcake, one slice of pizza, a bowl of Cereal and a few hot tamales at the movies. Not an entire box. I can eat anything I don't dump but will feel nauseous if I eat an entire box of hot tamales so I ration them out into a baggie for the movie . I still get my Protein in on the weekends but have what I want and then I am on the wagon come Monday. Again this works for me as I have a sweet tooth and I pretty much workout everyday. And I have never counted anything except protein and Water.....I love my nutritionist for understanding it's just not my thing. 5 am coffee with creamer and scoop of GENEPRO protein 30 G take all my Vitamins except my Calcium Workout 7 am Shakeology shake vanilla with added strawberries 9 am Old fashion oats with blueberries and 1/2 scoop protein 12 pm salad with salmon take calcium chews 3pm Combat Crunch Protein Bar 6pm Taco salad with ground turkey...no shell 8 pm Skinny pop snack Once your at goal you need to find what works for you. I keep my weight within a 4 lb range. Good luck- LA -
Layknee the unflavored protein powder is the best. I can get 30 grams and not even taste it. I love it . I use Genepro I ordered it from Amazon.

Genepro Flavorless Protein Powder
Samara1974 replied to Heidijenn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I searched the net and here is the link I found http://shopmusclegen.com/genepro-sample?search=Genepro+ I bought a jar and it is flavorless I add it to Protein shakes and juice. It does smell but no flavor. -
I might be older than you think.. I'll be 57 on June 12th. As to what I am doing, drink, drink and drink some more. Get those fluids in and I am still on the low side myself at about 48 ounces of water/fluid a day, as they are most important even more so than protein at this point. I only drink plain water and decaf tea. I eat, Cream of Wheat, tuna, greek yogurt, jello, cream of chicken soup, and chicken or beef broth and for a treat frozen pudding pops or outshine popcicles. I have one scoop of Genepro added to either my cream of wheat or cream of chicken soup. I am limited on my protein to 43 grams a day as I have Chronic Kidney Disease. I have not done much in exercise as its only been one week other than the walking. I do plan on incorporating more exercises even those that I can do with minimal jumping around like legs lifts and arm circles. Good Luck Every One.

Morning Nausea
Naughty Glitter Goddess replied to LesbianDad30's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've always been a breakfast eater and that stopped cold turkey since surgery (aug). I'm not nauseous in the mornings anymore but breakfast just sounds terrible. And when I force myself to eat it, I don't feel well. I do drink a protein coffee with Fairlife milk, coffee, genepro and SF toriani in the mornings. Eat my first real meal after the gym, 9 or 10am. My nutritionist does not love that plan but says I can go with it for now if I make sure to eat a small snack after dinner. They're not kidding when they say EVERYTHING changes. Good luck on your recovery and congrats on you surgery. Feels great to take excellent care of yourself! -
Remember, unflavored doesn't mean there is no flavor, it means they ADD no flavor to it. To me unflavored protein powder has a creamy, almost coffee-creamer taste, kinda like powdered milk. I don't mind it in the slightest, and it is milky-looking when added to liquid. I prefer it to pre-made shakes. I use TG's, found on Amazon.com. I also use Genepro. Hope this helps!

@@layknee at my hospital they kept bugging me about my fluids, and trying to bribe me telling me if I do this I can go home. I finally got mad and told them if they are going to discharge me based on my liquids then please leave because I can't get it down yet and your bribes are getting annoying and I feel like you're kicking me out and I'm not ready. The doctor was so annoying and I felt like I was going to explode. At my hosital they didn't do a drip test or anything. I just couldn't drink anything for 24 hours after surgery, then it was the 1oz every hour for 4 hours, then 2oz every hour for 2 hours, then 3oz every hour for 3 hours, then when you could do 4, it was time to be discharged. I couldn't drink protein either. My genepro arrived as I was walking in from the hospital so I got some in today, I made a shake and then mixed genepro with diet snapple. I really feel so full, but I can drink water very fast.

I'm so happy for you!!! You are doing GREAT!!! I am using Genepro unflavored protein, 1 small scoop has 30 grams of protein and you can put it in anything including coffee and soups. I mix it in pudding as well. -
I do use GENEPRO.......and like Franks Red hot......."I put that **** on everything". It seems to be the most tasteless and dissolves the best with the least or no clumps. Oh, and here is a tidbit on human nature. Given time, we have the ability to adapt to almost anything. Over the last couple of years, I have used various Protein drinks and for the life of me I can't understand WHY, in this day and age they can't make the stuff taste better. It's all horrible. B-u-t........The few that i have settled on using......well .....let's just say that continuing to consume them over & over & over & over & over .....(you get the idea) they do grauually get more bearable. Some I even look forward to .......Ok see, I went too far there. I had you till I said "look forward". Anyway.....just grin a bear it .....visualize starving on "Naked and Afraid" and the alternative is a bug

Stop when full, or push on to get required protein in - confused
ShelterDog64 replied to trekker954's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
@@trekker954 A few thoughts: Dairy Protein is easier for me than animal protein. I know you said you don't care for it, but I can't imagine doing this without using greek yogurt. Have you tried several brands and flavors? I'm not a big cottage cheese fan but you can't beat it for protein, so I eat it. I also use GENEPRO in my morning coffee, plus if I have Soup or refried Beans, I add a scoop to that. If I have a cup of tea later in the day, I add a scoop. There's no way you should push beyond your restriction to get protein in. That would be antithetical to the surgery we all just had. Your nutritionist must have some rationale for requiring 3 meals a day, I'd ask for the reason for it. If you've never been a snacker/grazer, maybe she'd feel comfortable supporting a 4th or 5th meal a day, or maybe like @@Bufflehead's NUT, you could add Protein shakes without them counting as a 'meal'. That wouldn't be the case with my program, if you eat it you count it, but clearly there are variations and semantics to deal with in comparing us all. -
Stop when full, or push on to get required protein in - confused
trekker954 posted a topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Just when you think you've got this whole thing down; I'm stumped. I'm just 13 1/2 weeks post op and so far, this has been going well and I am losing well. Even went on a 4 day cruise on lost a pound. My instructions all along, or maybe I listened in the beginning was to stop when I felt full. I was very cautious of this as I never wanted to not have I ever gotten sick. I do use genepro in my morning coffee. But I try and make sure the remaining protein is from food. I've only recently been told I can add vegetables, but very sparingly. Mostly protein. As I progress to more dense protein, it often fills me quickly. I just noticed today, if I'm not even getting in 3 ounces before I feel full, I won't meet my protein goal. I can't just keep eating chicken and eggs. I'm not a fan of cottage cheese or yogurt. I'm also trying different cuts of beef, lamb and such. My NUT really said to eat only three meals a day. What is more important, stopping when full, or should I push through to eat that last ounce of protein. Or should I have four meals a day, or at least four times, I go for protein. -
Unflavored Isopure protein powder
Kindle replied to AmyMarie79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As far as I'm concerned Genepro isn't really Protein. There are absolutely no third party studies or analyses that support the manufacturer's claims. There are no unbiased studies that indicate pre and post protein serum levels that would quantify the absorption rate and efficiency. The company can't even provide an analysis of individual amino acids to indicate whether it is a complete protein or not. Anyone with more than a couple semesters of biochemistry would know there is no scientific credibility to their claims. Basically they start out with whey protein, but the molecule is then so altered, it is really no longer a protein molecule. They play around a lot with the hydrogen molecules. It doesn't take much to change what something is when you start adding and removing molecules. For example, the oxygen we breath is made of 2 oxygen molecules. Remove one of them, add two hydrogen molecules and you have Water. Add one more hydrogen and you have hydrogen peroxide. Oxygen, water and hydrogen peroxide are not interchangeable even though they differ by just 1-2 molecules. Imagine what happens to protein when you strip away most of the hydrogen molecules. Now let's look at the other products this company sells.....all fad "miracle" supplements that claim to boost libido, burn fat, build muscle, enhance male performance, etc...kind of hard to take them seriously. You're better off sticking with "real" protein supplements with decades of scientific proof that they are providing proper nutrition. 100% whey protein is the best absorbed form of protein available. And there are hundreds of studies that prove this, not just one company's quack marketing ploys. -
Unjury vs Genepro?
Freckles70 replied to Freckles70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks all. I'm mostly concerned about which has the better taste, or actually which is the most tasteless. My NUT recommends either and several people from my program have used GENEPRO with good bloodwork results. I really like the unjury chocolate flavors. They seem to have the thin consistency that I prefer. I was mostly put off by the quantity of the unflavored Unjury that I needed to blend in. -
Does anyone actually like their protein drink?
Beni replied to AvaFern's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nope, hate every single one I have tried. Trust me, I think I have tried every brand on earth, pretty much. The only one I am okay with is GENEPRO unflavored because it tastes more like nothing and because it is concentrated you use a very small amount and when added to anything else you can't tell. -
How are you getting protein in??
Boldilocks replied to Tejee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I put this into a lot of stuff - mix it into yoghurt, cottage cheese, fat-free re-fried beans, curries, sauces, soups. It really helps me pack more protein in as a vegetarian. The scoops are very small. https://www.amazon.com/GENEPRO-Musclegen-Research-Flavorless-Certified/dp/B00K6OSDYA -
July 2021 Surgery People!
Candace76 replied to Sammys_VSG_Evolution's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congratulations on losing 20 pounds. 16 to go is so close! From what I read and what my doctor's office said, the first 6 months of weight loss is the biggest & then it starts slowing down, especially as you get closer to goal/healthier weight. People can lose beyond that first year, but it seems to be harder. I'm sure gaining it back is easy to do if old habits return. I have been adding genepro (unflavored protein powder) to my yogurt or to iced coffee to help reach my daily protein goals. I understand it can be hard to get it all in. I think your idea of adding it to your soup & yogurt is a great way to get protein in if you are having difficulty. Maybe start with 1/2 serving added to a beverage or liquid/mushy food (soup & yogurt, as you said)? (I mix it with a little room temp water before adding it to hot or cold beverages & then slowly incorporate it) The hairloss gets better. Mine is coming back in, so I have all these shorter hairs mixed in with my long ones. Wishing you luck in losing the 16 pounds & maintaining your loss. -

@@nancynew have you tried GENEPRO? It is a "tasteless" powder that has 30g of protein for just 1 tbsp. I drink v8 juice , gonna try it in that later today. My NUT said should be whey isolate Proteins. I don't think Genepro is an isolate. I'm going to take it with me to my NUT appt on Monday.
