This is another example of how varied everyone's taste is :-) I use unflavored protein all the time, in my coffee, in refried Beans, in any soup that I have, into oatmeal, etc. The brand I use is undetectable once it's mixed in and packs a big protein punch. I can't drink a RTD protein drink anymore, they're so grossly thick and artificially sweet, so using unflavored has been a huge help. What brand do you use?? Mine can't be cooked with and I too get sick of flavours and the texture pretty quickly. I would love to sneak it in soup or something. I can and I will. I'm using GENEPRO, and it's by far my favorite. I gave all my flavored powders away, because I can put the unflavored powder into anything plus I can use Stevia if I want something sweet instead of having sucralose which is in so many flavored powders. *Edited to add: I don't cook with it per se, but I stir it into cooked foods. If your oatmeal or whatever is very warm, add the powder to a little milk or Water, stir with a fork, then stir that into the food.

I think I will try the GENEPRO soon; it seems to be a favorite. I love unjury, but if genepro is better that is awesome! -
Ok to sip on protein all day post-op?
gina171 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have noticed what a huge challenge many folks have with consuming enough Protein in the first weeks post op. I am planning for my post op days and was wondering....is there any reason I can't mix unflavored Protein powder (Genepro) into my Water or crystal light and just sip on it all day long? Or drink watered down Syntrax nectar instead of plain water? This would be in addition to my powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein shakes, of course. Thx! BTW GENEPRO is very high Protein.

If you use GENEPRO, look on their website for instructions on how to best mix it into different temperature foods. For example, I use a scoop in my coffee every morning, so I mix it with the milk that I'm going to add since it mixes better with cold liquids. You should use a fork, not a spoon. It does make a difference!

I've tried Isopure, unjury and GENEPRO....Genepro is by far my favorite. It mixes very well and I can't tell it's in my food.

I tried GENEPRO the other day, put it in some chicken broth and all I tasted was the chicken broth. There were no clumps or weird taste. I was very happy. I purchased unflavored in order to put it in other things. I'm pretty okay with most ready to drink Protein shakes.

Need Advice/Help Please
pjmckain replied to vleesleeved's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I bought GENEPRO powdered Protein on Amazon. It has saved me! I put 2 scoops in a 2 cup measuring cup & one crystal lite pink lemonade (for a 16 oz bottle of water). I keep that in the fridge & sip on it all day. I get 60 G protein that way. You have to find what you can tolerate. I love hot tomato juice so I drink 1/2 cup & feel like I'm cheating. I can't stand most of the Protein shakes so I don't drink them. If you can tolerate any kind of sugar-free drink, you can put the powder protein in it. Gatorade will give you electrolytes. Put the protein in that & sip on an oz every 15 min. I had my sleeve done on July 21. I developed a nasty abscess behind my main incision so I've been dealing with that. I ended up back in the hosp for 4 days. My point is that this is just a short period of time & you can do this! It's all worth it! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

@@TransformeVSG I too have TWO weddings. My nephew on Long Island, so I'm flying up exactly one month after for 2 nights. Then my best friend the weekend after on the Gulf Coast Florida (so I'm driving over). I do hope I have the energy. In my photo (which isn't everything I really have, lol). I have my Magic Bullet blender (had it for years), various types of Protein power (GENEPRO unflavor, unjury, BariatricPal various flavors and Soups, Syntrax Peanut Butter cookies) PB2, patch MD Vitamins, BariMelt vitamins, various minerals, nectar powder drinks, stock, boullion cubes and bone broth (chicken, vegie, beef), gas-x (BTW, during my pre-op, the nurse told me I could bring them to the hospital), beano, prevacid, Bariatric Samples of fusion shakes, decaf coffee and decaf peppermint tea, sugar free ice tea, mineral boost drink, my little 2 ounce cups. Not pictured in refrig are other ready to drink Protein Shakes and various types of Water with minerals and or protein. This morning I chose one of the samples i received, the fusion cinnamon bun. Funny, I came out of my room and loudy annouced I was having a cinnamon bun. My daughter dropped her jaw (my DH, just said thats nice and didn't look up, lol). Then showed them my shake. Anyway, first couple of sips, I said, hmmmmmm, it really tasted like a cinnamon bun......but after a while, I was turned off. It was just too sweet. Then again, I don't usually like the real cinnamon buns because they are too sweet. -
Protein-whats your favorite?

These are my top two: http://www.bariatriceating.com/product/inspire-strawberry-white-chocolate-protein-powder/ http://www.bariatriceating.com/product/inspire-blueberry-cheesecake-protein-powder-20-servings/ Syntrax Fuzzy Navel is number 3. For unflavored Protein, I like GENEPRO. -
I use Musclegen Research GENEPRO Molecular Tri Protein Peptide. I put one scoop in 3/4 cup of 2% Braum's milk, along with half a packet of Carnation Breakfast Essentials No Sugar. The Genepro dissolves completely with very little taste and the Carnation Breakfast Essential favors the milk nicely. You get 30 grams of protein with each tablespoon scoop. You can also mix the Genepro with anything...yogurt, oatmeal, milk poured over Cereal, etc. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I wanted to share with you, i have been having issues with getting protein in. SO i was suggested to try GENEPRO which is not only flavorless it is actually TASTELESS. You add only 1 Tablespoon and get 30 grams protein and it has no taste. I actually love this stuff. Mix it in tea, coffee, chocolate milk and you wont taste it. It was definitely worth the money and AMAZING. just thought i would share with you all!

Veterans: What Should Be On My Shopping List for Immediate Post Op Weeks
gina171 posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My RNY date is 3 weeks away, and I'd like to do my shopping for the immediate post op period now, get reasonably stocked up. Here's what I have purchased so far: Plenty of Premier Protein shakes GENEPRO Protein powder Bone broth (more protein than regular broth) sugar free Jello and sugar free pudding packets Tiny medicine cups for drinking Sugar free beverage mixes w stevia I plan on getting a case or 2 of Water (my tap water is awful), some coconut water for variety, sugar free Popsicles. What else do you recommend? Keep in mind that I will be recovering alone mostly, I won't have someone on hand who can run out and grab something I might need. I'd really like to be stocked up in case. And what's the brand of that clear fruit flavored protein drink that people love? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

Protein powder question
LA_lady replied to Clarevoyant's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use GENEPRO and you have to put it in after you heat. Once I tried putting it my really hot broth and it doesn't break down. The result was drinking grainy broth which was quite nasty. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Also I got the unjury starter pack to try some flavors. It is a personal think I only like their chicken and unflavored and I am not even trying strawberry because that is not my thing. I have 4 individual packs of 3 flavors. If anyone interested DM me and I can drop in envelope to you! Ps: I tried GENEPRO and their company site and story are just too bizarre but to each their own!

I was gonna buy some GENEPRO but I keep seeing bad reviews about it too.. Then the lady at gmc suggest the Isopure powder. The only thing I've managed to do that I can drink so far is mix it with some Water and put a squirt of watermelon flavoring in it. But still, I would like to find a much easier solution. The Genepro has been helpful to me. It's flavorless and you get a lot of protein for a small scoop. I bought it on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Musclegen-Research-Genepro-Medical-Servings/dp/B00K6OSDYA

I just ordered some genepro and have been reading on some weight loss sites that they do not think it works or there doctors told them not to use it. has anyone had any trouble with it at all?
