Fat Shaming Husband...so hurt
sassyfrass23 replied to Bluesky1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't think I made myself clear. I'm suggesting two thoughts to the OP: 1. You're clearly fragile and he didn't say the things you needed to hear. I'm suggesting that what he actually said/meant might have been different than what you heard. No one knows this but you (certainly not a bunch of strangers on this forum). I've been married 37 years and my wife hears me say things all the time that I don't think I said and certainly didn't intend to convey. 2. Clearly, you don't like what you're hearing him say. Have you told him loud and clear that? Have you told him what you need from him to help you get through this? Women her nuances that guys can't. Guys are thick in this area and need to be set straight. Obviously, if you're certain that he spoke those words and meant to be hurtful and you told him as much and he doesn't give a ****, you need to move on. I'm just saying be sure first... How is he otherwise? Thank you for wanting to be objective. I have told him every way I can...STOP IT! In his mind he thinks he's helping me. He also said he is frustrated that I am not the weight I was just 3 years ago when I met him, and I eat (candy, Cookies, bread) while I've been preparing for this surgery. Unlike many others I had to gain 7 lbs to have surgery. And guess what? I have been enjoying EVERY second of it. I have been on some diet, some plan, over-excercizing and battling not eating "bad food". It has been great to eat what I want. Some people may say that means I'm not ready for this surgery....I think it means I am totally ready for this surgery...because I need it. I have gone up and down all my life. My husband thinks I "cheated the system by gaining the weight...and he feels I should have been eating all healthy these last 9 months. The problem with that is I had to stay at a certain weight to be approved. No gaining..no losing...and I did everything I had to...to be approved. I do understand his frustration. I don't look like I did. I'm also 42, been going through peri-menapaus, and have chronic pain and health issues. And now have been thrown into surgical menopause. Sorry this may TMI...but..I'm trying to paint you a picture. My husband other than being mean and critical about my weight...is funny, hardworking, responsible, handsome, committed to his ministry, a great friend, a good Dad (to my step-daugter), and can be loving towards me. He simply doesn't want a fat wife. He strongly apposes surgery, and told me today...that I will just gain the weight back, and stretch my stomach back out. I hope that doesn't happen. I'm having the surgery. That is not negotiable. So...there you have it. Sure- anyone can gain the weight back. We all know this going into surgery. But- your mind is made up and I believe you will be successful. No matter who's doubting you. You've got me in your corner, rooting you on!! So...you can show him better than you can tell him. And no one knows who is truly ready for this surgery. Only you know. And that's all that matters. I will keep you in my prayers and pray that God will soften your husband's heart while helping you remain steadfast in your journey. As a wife. And as a WLS patient. You've got this -

OK Ladies, kinda embarrasing question for you all
M!@ replied to Adina's_Journey's topic in The Gals' Room
As the first thing they want you to do after surgery is walk, my surgeon does not use a cath. And with them pumping IV Fluid the urge comes rather quickly after waking. That being said, even with a cath, I don't see the need to be clean shaven. I was not worried, I make sugar wax at home to use. Cheap and easy, and for some reason my husband likes to help. Ok that was TMI. -
Ok so what was your Non scale victory for this week? For me, it may be TMI but I was able to take the extender off of my bra! Yeah for losing 3 inches ! ???? So what was your NSV this week????

TMI Question...that may not make sense!
LeslesLosingIt posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, so I have a serious question but I want y'all opinion before I call my surgeon and he laughs at me! I am getting kind of sick, running nose, etc. The issue is I have a lot of drainage down the back of my throat, and it's going to my stomach I assume (? not a doctor here). Anyway, could this be causing my nausea? I haven't had any at all before now, and this morning I ate what I always do and got extremely nauseas, tonight I had one bite of something I eat all the time (just turkey lunch meat wrapped around a cheese stick) and the same thing happened. No fever or anything. Could this be causing it?? I don't wanna call him and look like an idiot if I don't have to! -
I'm 43 (44 in March), 6 months post-op and just learned that I am 4.5 weeks pregnant. This is my 3rd pregnancy (kids are 16 & 11). I'm scared and excited....worried because I was warned to wait a year (I wasn't trying, TBH sex was barely happening so this is a big ass shock!!). I had an IUD in for 10 years prior to the surgery and decided to give my body a break due to my age and minimal sex life with my hubby. Well lo and behold, removing the IUD seems to have revived my libido! I'm sorry if this is TMI, but I am hoping to hear from any other 40 somethings who have been pregnant in their 40's post surgery. Any unique complications specific to our age group? How did or is it going for you?

I had my surgery this afternoon. I've been in and out of sleep. The pain is very moderate. Honestly is just the gas. I've been trying to fart for a couple hours now lol tmi. The staff at my hospital are awesome. I'm not allowed to drink anything until tomorrow. Overall I feel great I hope I heal quickly. I'm so happy I did this????????????????

My scar treatment protocol was silicone sheet/strips beginning AFTER incision is healed, no scabs. Then, when I couldn't take the hasssle, switched to massaging in Mederma. Then, when that just seemed ridiculous I massaged in various oils - vital E, coconut oil etc until I completely lost interest. Not very scientific, but thorough. I protected all scars from sunlight for 2 years. I had laser hair removal starting about 18 months post lower body lift (my pubic hair zone lifted too - TMI) and that had no impact. I am not actually sure what if anything works but the silicone sheets and massage in oils seem to be the conventional wisdom.

Post VSG - Stomach Bug - Not sure what to do
gabrielle2014 posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had VSG in Dec 2014 - last week I got very sick with an awful stomach bug where everything I ate went through me (sorry TMI). I didn't throw up but have been steadily very sick to my stomach. I went to my GP on Wed and she didn't think I seemed that dehydrated even though I have only been getting about 4 cups of Water a day. My upset stomach has gone away but now I can't get anything down - when I try to eat Protein I just spit it up i'm so grossed out by it. I can eat toast and crackers but the carbs are making me feel super sick after I eat. I feel very sick, shaky, and dizzy. I can't call my surgeon bc I just switched health insurance and won't have coverage for a specialist until Feb 1st. I don' tknow what to do or why I'm reacting so awfully to this stomach bug. Has anyone else had the stomach flu and how did you get rhough it? This is the worse experience I've had since surgery. Help? -
Pain/Discomfort/Recovery: C-Section vs. Gastric Sleeve?
Sharon1964 replied to AmyQwith2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would say about the same, but easier to get out of bed with the sleeve on the first day. Now mind you, TMI WARNING, I insisted on having sex with my husband ten days after my c-section. So that might give you a hint on how fast I recover. -
Nope, I would not reply to someone who indicated they had WLS no matter how well written their profile is. Like CowgirlJane said, way TMI way too soon. I also don't respond to people who complain about their exes, who label themselves as "nice guys" or worse something along the lines of "nice guys finish last" or any other sort of whiny bs. On a personal note the "nice guy" tag annoys the crap out of me...the fastest way to get a woman to run away from you is to tell her you are are a good guy. You let her know this through actions, consistent, good man actions, not labeling your profile with "good man" garbage, ugh that annoys me. Don't fill out your full profile- no one really cares to read that much unless they're a stalker, in which case you have bigger problems. In terms of best dating sites, hands-down I prefer Tinder. As a pre-qualification, this used to be known as a hook-up site, which I didn't actually know when I first started using it. I have met one person off of there and he ended up being first a really good friend and later my boyfriend and, lol, there was never any hook-up type of arrangement. He took me out for a nice dinner the first time we met, like is supposed to be the case for a date. Tinder is great because the only people who can message you are people you have an interest in, so for women you don't get every creep and their brother messaging you. Also, while there is the point that Tinder is shallow, so is life. Let's be honest, if you aren't attracted to someone, you aren't likely to end up dating them, so why not just get that part out of the way? On Tinder you only talk to women or men who you like and who also liked you. I haven't used the app in awhile, but for someone looking to meet someone without having to go through a lot of sending messages and being ignored, this is a decent start.

Ok so my cough looks like just about went away however now I feel extremely full and I havent had anything to eat but green tea. Hmm.. Still having trouble sleeping. Also **warning TMI** constipation!! NO BUENO! Not a good day im having to say the least. Any advice?
-
I agree about the TMI. I don't want to know about your health issues in your profile. Keep it positive and highlight the things you like to do. Funnily enough I did meet another sleeve patient online. He was complaining about being cold on a 70 degree day too! But we just didn't "click". No big. Lotsa fish in the sea!
-
@WLSResources/ClothingExch. Nope, TMI way too early. I also don't want to reAd about the knee replacement or. triple bypass -both life changing surgeries that require work to attain lasting success like WLS.

I had my surgery last Wednesday so it's been 4 days. I am finally getting more liquids in, which is good. The other day was the first tim I went #2, but it was like I passed gas and it was like an explosion sorry tmi., but I need to ask if anyone else has experienced the same thing. I have only had clear liquids now since last Tuesday so I would think it would be solid, but if feels like every time go to the bathroom and I pass gas it happens. It's brown and yellow . it's not really diarrhea. As anyone else experience this??
-
TMI warning...is anyone else having this issue. I go days (5-7) without having a BM, I forget to take something to get things moving because unfortunately I have always had this problem and it doesn't hurt. Then all of the sudden, I have diarrhea! What is that all about? I haven't had a normal BM since the surgery (almost a month ago).

Protein Drinks
frenchpress replied to Manduh_Raye23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know, I was drinking the chocolate Premier Protein shakes just fine for all the 6 months I had to eat a low carb diet while seeing my dietitian. Once I started my second week of my liquid diet where I was allowed to drink Protein Shakes again, something was just not agreeing with me with those shakes. TMI, but they were giving me diarrhea, so I tried the chocolate truffle flavor from nectar, as suggested by my dietitian because it's both lactose and gluten free. I'm going to give myself a little more time to try out the Premier Protein shakes one more try before calling it quits because I really like them. I don't have gluten issues, but the chocolate truffle Nectar Protein Powder tastes great with unsweetened vanilla almond milk. I've been able to eat puddings with no problem, so I'm not entirely sure it's a dairy/lactose issue. As Cindy suggested, PB2 is a great addiction to jazz up a shake! -
Keep having to "#2" after I eat, is this normal?
courtcourt90 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just noticed that every time I eat something rather it's tuna or yogurt. Within 30 minutes I have to boo boo. Is this normal with gastric sleeve? And sometimes it's a slight burn to it too, I know tmi lol -
primolut-nor / ability to take pills / Please help / TMI
hjlhjl posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello everyone. Let's just start off saying i'm very desperate and I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum. This is my first post on this lovely site. I had my gastric bypass surgery the 16th of november and I quit taking my birth control pills around the same time due to not feeling well after the surgery. I haven't had my period since, and I guess thats natural with my new low calorie intake. I'm traveling to London on wednesday and it just occurred to me that I might get my period and my cramps get really bad. + I've lost almost 50lbs so I'm feeling myself right now and the thought of having my period and being bloated on vacation isn't that appealing. I went to the doctor yesterday and she gave me "primolut-nor* " 5mg, and said that I should take 2-3/day. The thing is though, I'm afraid that my body won't absorb the pill and give me my period since after a bypass some pills don't get absorbed the same. I've called several doctors and nurses today but no one has an answer for this and please if you have any experience or information about this let me know. This vacation means so much to me and I don't want to gamle with having it destroyed. (By gamle I mean, I don't take anything and don't get my period/or get my period. Or I take the pill and it dosen't work and I get my period or it works) Thank you if you read my mess of a post and have an amazing weekend * Primolut N tablets 5mg contain norethisterone a first generation synthetic progestogen that has similar action in the menstrual cycle as the natural hormone progesterone. Endogenous (naturally produced) progesterone is produced by the ovaries during the second phase of the menstrual cycle. It acts on the endometrium (lining of the uterus) converting the proliferating phase to the secretory phase. This causes the endometrium, which has thickened in response to oestrogen during the first half of the cycle, to stop growing and start secreting hormones and other Proteins needed to maintain a pregnancy, if conception occurs; if not, levels of oestrogen and progesterone fall and the endometrium is shed (menstruation). The action of norethisterone in Primolut N 5 helps re-establish a regular menstrual cycle in conditions where a lack of endogenous progesterone causes menstrual problems, such as in secondary amenorrhoea and abnormal uterine bleeding. Aka to postpone my period, and after you quit taking them you get your period after 2-5 days -
Night Eating Syndrome
jane13 replied to WL WARRIOR's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@WL WARRIOR - yes, sometimes I need to pee. Unless I feel like I am going to wet myself (oops TMI) I try to go back to sleep - if I have more than an hour or so to get up. I get up by 3:30am M-F for work. I try to not drink after 6 either but I did get that extra 16-20oz in after 6pm (and in the middle of the night, which I quit doing). I also try to not let my mind start "running", or I am doomed and might as well get up. For example: I have woke up at 2:30 everyday this week. I just stayed up - I was wide awake I don't feel groggy either.....but around 7pm or so I am doing eyelid checks!!! By the way, I wake up regardless if its a workday or not. Hubby likes to sleep in - I can't, so I watch shows I have DVRd. -
Hey all! So I started my journey back in June of 2015 - slacked a little bit - and am getting back on track as I know this is going to be the only thing to help me. I have done most of my appointments (have my last heart clearance next week) and then I just need my final appointment with my surgeon and all the insurance junk! I have 3 kids (7,3 and 9 months) with little to no support from my hubby when it comes to the surgery. Terrified of what is to come, but excited nonetheless. Anybody interested in an easygoing buddy with a sense of humor that isn't afraid of all the weird TMI stuff that needs to be talked about? Good luck to all

I am having a terrible time with my Water. Ever since I was a little kid, I just don't really get thirsty. I can work out, walk several miles etc. and I don't get thirsty. The only time I was ever thirsty was when I was pregnant and as soon as my son was born, boom-not thirsty. When I had my ultrasounds back then, they even told me that my bladder was near bursting with the small amount of water I was told to drink to get a clear ultrasound, and apparently I have an abnormally small bladder. Nothing serious at all, just kind of a "huh" moment. Now that I am being told by the nut to drink at least 64 oz of water a day, I'm drowning and literally peeing every 10 minutes. Just minutes after emptying my bladder, I feel like I have to go again and try to make myself wait at least 10 minutes. If I drink 64oz of water a day, I get up at least 3 times a night to pee! I have even had an MRI of my abdomen/bladder etc. to make sure it is all working correctly. Is this just how I'm going to have to live my life from now on? I'm sorry if it's TMI, but who really has time to pee this much? I feel like I live in the restroom!

i didn't have that problem in the beginning. (I wasn't hungry in the beginning) but you will feel boredom in what you're drinking. that, in and of itself, can prove dissatisfying. hunger and stomach acid do not feel the same way. stomach acid feels like. well acid in your stomach. it hurts. take it from me. i've had gastritis and a hiatal hernia for years. hunger feels like emptiness. i started getting hungry about 4 weeks out. and now i'm hungry all the time but rarely have an appetite for anything so it's easy to "eat right" since I don't really want anything in spite of being "hungry". Hi PR_Pitbull, Its definitely got to be hunger that Im feeling. However, even though Im feeling this way, I work past it and get my liquids in. I am definitely bored of my liquids. chicken broth gives the worst gas. Lol - I know... TMI but its true. Im looking forward to eating regular food again. Im now 6 days post op and down 8 lbs now. Granted, its an all liquid diet but I feel that I will get to my goal also. My new tummy makes a lot of noise. It talks to me all the time.

pleae help stricture and very scared
Scorpion11 replied to danigirl3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Suggestion only but make sure to follow your doctors instructions and contact him/her always for all inquiries, concerns, pain etc. Everyone's body is different and reacts, recovers differently. When start to fill better and you can drink or sip more, try to get your Protein drinks in. Your taste buds are out of control right now but and most protein shake/drinks will taste awful, especially the powder ones. I highly suggest Premier Protein ready to drink. I get mine at costco. I believe it's an 18 pack for about 24.99. Sometimes on sale w/their coupons. They have it in vanilla, chocolate and strawberry flavor a. Each drink is 16oz, 30mg of protein at I believe calories 160. By far these have been on my daily intake. I also eat the Fage yogurt daily, 8oz 0 fat and 22mg of protein. Once you start to get your protein intake in, in conjunction to making sure you can try to get in all your Water, you will feel better and energized in time. Please ensure to have your surgeon check your labs for Vitamins deficiency. After my surgery on 2nd week out, I thought I was drinking enough protein but was so paranoid about not drinking enough water I was actually over drinking, flushing my protein out tmi but urinating too much. I was finally at stage to take crushed vitamins and he recommended I take extra Iron and suggestion Brad called Vitron-C (take 1 daily but on menses 2x daily) which I can only find online Amazon and WalMart and cheap. I also needed Vitamin D3 and take 10.000mg daily. I get at Walgreen and look for sales of the smaller tablets or small gel when they have sell buy one get one free. For hair loss which is normal and will eventually come but will slow or stop around your 6/7 month out. I take the following Biotin Zinc And the iron helps for hair loss too You must also take your daily multi vitamin and Calcium daily. B12 helps for extra energy. I hope you feel better soon, be assured you're not alone and many of us have gone through many similar symptoms you're experiencing. Always check in with your doctor or his nurse. Inbox me if you'd like more info or can answer more concerns. I'm 2 Yrs out from my wls had and was not able to exercise, lost many inches but have not met my personal and desired goal, however I'm super happy have gone from size 24 to 14/12, not sure what my bmi is but I'm 5'7. Now dealing with new medical issues such as rashes from lose skin and recently went to see dermatologist and being treated for it, need it. Feeling content though. Your in my thoughts and available if you need more info. Keep strong, know you're not alone, and you are going to get past this, take everything day by day. Healthy and positive vibes going your way!! Take good care! PS Peppermint tea is the best tea go have handy for gas, tummy aches and nausea! Also have a magnesium drink available for constipation since its also part of our healing process and so much daily protein intake. I get Walgreen's brand cherry flavor or Phillips brand. But you have many to chose from I drink to cleanse 1 a month or when I haven't had a bowel movement within 3 days. Tip for me when needed is I start to get a pain towards my right side of upper tummy. -
I just had my surgery on 1/4! During this surgery my gallbladder was removed and a hiatal hernia repaired. The hospital stay was terrible. A nurse that left me in the bathroom when I was still very much dealing with anesthesia, hallways that were so filled with machines I couldn't get through to walk, and a bunch of other issues. Anyway, I'm dealing with some things and I thought I'd ask if it's pretty normal after VSG AND GB removal. I took my 3 oz of shake today fine. Then waited 30 minutes before beginning my Water. I feel like I can drink more than just a sip every few minutes. I can't chug it but I can tell I can drink sip after sip without issue. Is that okay? I was told sip slowly and small sips so I don't know if this will cause an issue at all. Which brings me to the next, every couple of hours I have to poop! It is loose, watery poop. Is this normal? Should I be concerned about the consistency? I'm worried that as I drink I just need to use the bathroom pretty urgently and I am worried it will dehydrate me because I drink then go. Pain wise, I'm okay. My largest incision, next to my belly button but slightly above it on the right side, is where I feel the most pain. The pain meds are making me too loopy and I don't feel like I need them anyway. Anyone care to give me some advice on whether I should contact my surgeon because of the diarrhea? Sorry for the TMI, I'm sure you've all heard worse! By the way, my stats are I am 21, 5'4" Pre Op weight: 266 GW: 160 I will weigh in on Mondays, I don't know what I weight this soon post op!
