  1. Wow you look great! I was looking through all the pics and noticed your back. I was just banded on 10/08. any tips on avoiding excess skin?

  2. Hi, just checking to see if you have gotten over that plateu yet. I am still at a stand still. No loss, no gain either. it's frustrating. At the support meeting, I was told that I am where I am suppose to be after being banded only 8 weeks (at that time) it will be 10 weeks tomorrow hmmm. I just have to be patient. Have you experienced any other problems since banding? let me know how its going.

  3. Thanks for following up- you look great- I visited your blog. I have been stuck for 2 1/2 weeks with no weight loss or gain- started exercising and have actually dropped inches and not pounds- maybe because I am building muscle??? No idea- finally stayed off the scale for a week and when I weighed- low and behold I was down 4 pounds!!! Going in on 10/07/09 for a fill and looking forward to it- getting too much room again and can mow down quite a bit of food, but making better choices so I hope to keep steadily losing:tongue_smilie:- good luck and I will continue to check up on you also!

  4. Hi I haven't been on this site for a while since school started. I am glad you are able to have your surgery before all the holiday rush! My daughter name is Lauren Pizzolla she is at SUNY Cortland as a freshman. She is very happy there. She will be home on 10/15 and has a dr. appt. on 10/16. I hope she has lost weight! Please extend your support to her and she will hopefully do the same. Thanks. I am also here for you if you need me!

  5. thats cool! I live like 5-10 min a way from there. I work at the hospital up the road from there.......i just had another fill today so I have 5.5 cc's in my 10cc band.

  6. Hi there, I would love to be your friend. I had my surgery August 19. And trust me, when I say its life changing. But in a good way. I hope to loose 145lbs. my starting weight was 354. I have lost 37lbs so far. I wish you all the best and good things comes to those who wait....

  7. Yes it is good to see others doing a great job. Ive been going back and forward with myself about getting a fill on 11/19. I could care less about eating for the holidays, however the husband booked a dinner cruise the day after Thanksgiving for our 1yr wedding anniversay, and requested that I wait till the new year. Im so close to where I estimated/ set my personal goal for myself so, Im really leaning toward doing it anyway.

I just started running this week and did about 10 min pretty well..but my pants were falling down lol guess its a good problem to have!

  13. Susan,

sorry I didn't see your pm until today.

I changed my date of surgery. I am going in on the 18th now. Only 5 days left.

I started my pre-op diet about 4 weeks ago. Thought I would see how long I could do it. I did have 4 dinners in that 4 weeks, the last meal was on Wednesday for my grandson's birthday. My Dr said it was ok even though it was in the 2 week time period since I have already lost almsot 20 lbs.

3 more days of shakes then 2 days of clears. My surgery is on Friday but I will stay in the hospital till Sat. I am a little nervous and have lots of doubts now but I am sure this is the thing I need. I have lost and gained these 50 lbs 3 times now in the past 10 years.

My son told me he doesn't support this surgery because he has seen me lose before but I told him my insurance wouldn't approve if they didn't think I needed it. I am now 188 lbs and hope to get down to around 145.

Good luck with your surgery too. Peggie

  14. Starting day 11 of my pre-op diet - things have slowed down a little (lost 9.4lb in 10 days) but i'm not complaining! I got my surgery date set for September 10th so now the countdown begins.... skeeered lol!

  15. Hi I just caught up with your posts here. Good Luck on Sept 10, hope it goes well for you. I'm at 6.5 mls now after 2nd fill and it's hard but it's working. Still at the musht stage but because I'm scared to chew yet. We'll get there.

  16. Hey lady I have been following you and aberchic. Dont get discouraged. I know it seems slow. I am down about 24 pounds in what will be 10 weeks this thursday. That is 2.4 pounds a week. I am just now starting to feel a difference. In a years time we will all be in such a better place. Although that steak potatoes and rolls you were speaking of sound freakin awesome!!!

  17. its getting better...still some swelling...but better...still have all my stitches in...hopefully i will get them out on 10/19.

  18. Hi Shasta1

I feel much better now that I have lost over 100 pounds in 1 year. I started looking into weight loss surgery over 10 years ago but my insurance would never cover it. Once I had a BMI over 50 they finally did. I was 5'6" and 375 pounds. I still hired beliteweight.com to get me through all the red tape with bc/bs insurance. There was a lot more of a wait for the gastric bi-pass surgery. I was in a hurry and opted for the gastric lap band. I was chicken for the drastic bi-pass. There was less of a wait for the band. I could always opt for the bi-pass later if the band didn't work. They put me on a liquid protein diet for 3-4 weeks prior to surgery to shrink my liver.

The lap band and gastric bypass has a diet to stick with so it is not easy and dieting free as I thought it would be. I automatically eat smaller portions of what I did eat before. It is a lot like the South Beach one with mostly protein, vegetables, low carbs and no "slider foods".

  19. You and I are in almost the exact same situation. I was banded on Aug 18th weight 226 on the day of surgery and have lost 10 lbs since. I've just started mushies today and am worried that I'll gain some of the 10 back. My doctor is happy with the progress but when I read other people's stories and their weight loss i get discouraged.

  20. Thank you so much Jessi!!! You can do it!! Don't get frustrated. My gosh girl, 30 lbs in less than 3 monts; that rocks!! that's a little over 10 lbs a month!! You are doing awesome!!!!!! You keep going like that and you'll be a skinny mini in no time!! You can do this! don't get frustrated. You should be so darn proud of yourself!!

  21. I am alive. I havne't been on here much lately b/c I found great support w/ about 10 lapbandster woman on blogspot.com It's great to have that as a support group but I do need to get on here more often.

  22. Haven't heard from u sense before my surgery. Well I had my surgery aug 10 and it was one of the easiest surgeries I've ever had. How is your weight loss coming?

  23. Oh no what a drag - the denial. So sorry you have to go through all that again! Do you think it will eventually get approved? I had to pay myself - $9900.

I am so happy to have the band! I am pretty sore and tired today, and bothered by the chest (gas) pains, but otherwise everything went well. I was in surgery at 10:30 and out of the hospital by 1:30....then slept pretty much the rest of the day.

Let me know how things are going for you - I hope you get a quick approval after this bad news.

  24. Sorry I haven't replyed in a while. At lots been happening.

Yeah, well I deff failed it. Lol, oh well. No summer school for me though. Ima take it again next year, I have room lol. Ive lost about 10 pounds from my dietion, but ive been downing bad stuff lately. Not doing so well. Ima be 18 before I get it so instead of going through aganoy and unnessesary prosedures, im going to wait. Eh, so how have you been?

  25. Aww yeah that would be great. I see we have alot of similarities :-) I have two boys too! 13 & 6. You can email me anytime joyhatchett@comcast.net Im on FB too. If you want we can do a check in on each other to keep our booties in check! How are you doing with exercise. In the last week alone I hve come up with at least 10 different excuses--I need new workout shoes, and pants, Im tired. So You Think You Can Dance is on I cant miss that, the boys want to go to the pool...blah blah blah I used up all my excuses this week so I have to bite the bullet and GO.
