    STALL!! STALL STALL STALLLLLL

I am 8 weeks out and have been experiencing steady weight loss....unit last week! I read all about the 3 week stalls and since i was beyond 3 weeks thought I was in the clear. But i've been at 231 since October 31. I did take a bit of a break as far as working out daily (walking/bike), and I know i've been eating more carbs than previously. Maybe that has something to do with it. I just can't help but to worry, "Is this all i"m going to lose??" I would hate to have gone through this whole ordeal and then only lose a minimal amount of weight.

how long does a stall typically last?

It's different for everybody. But take heart, cause when it breaks the scale will plummet. Check out the link in my sig...it has some good info about stalls. The 3 week stall is one you really can't do much about but wait it out. But that's okay. Just be patient and it will move.

    stalled

Do a search on here for "stall ". Your question has been answered a hundred times. There is actually a whole forum for this... "Don't Sweat the Stall Stuff" you should post this there and stay off your scale. You are in the infamous 3 week stall and the best way to end it is to stay off the scale. In the meantime, follow your doctor's plan and stay off the scale. Get in all your protein and water and stay off the scale!
  4. I am so glad that I read this message. I am currently going thru the "3 week stall". I was so scared that I was doing something wrong! *Whew* what a relief! I lost 35lbs pre op. I had my surgery on 3/5/12. I have lost 15lbs post op, but hadn't lost any for the last 2 weeks.

    Week 2 no weight loss?!

I am in this same boat now. I lost 10lbs the first week, gained 2lbs back, and have been stalled for the last 6 days. How long did it take before the weight loss started again for you guys? I am hoping that this is just the famous 3 week stall early!

    Shaking up stalls

Going off of my plan definitely helped me break a 3 week stall. I ate more and more carbs. It's all about mixing things up and keeping your body guessing so it doesn't reach homeostasis and has to constantly readjust. When I was in Weight Watchers I was taught this...there it is called the Wendy Plan.

    Its all about staying positive

Don't be so hard on yourself after only one week. Your probably still retaining Water weight from the IV and also swollen from the procedure. I wouldn't let myself even go near a scale for 2 weeks. Also be prepared for the dreaded 3 week stall that seems to get everyone. Your doing great. Stick with the plan and you'll get there before you know it. And I whole heartedly agree with your statement "It's all about staying positive".
  8. I think I just broke my 3 week stall today. Weight loss isn't a linear process. You will lose and stall. Embrace the stall! It means that your body is recovering and readjusting to the weight loss. Mine lasted at least a week and a half. Stay off the scale, take measurements if you need that positive reinforcement. Make sure you are getting your target Protein and Water levels and relax. It will start again! I lost 42 lbs during preop and since surgery. It was time for my body to put the brakes on and reevaluate itself. You tend to lose inches rather than pounds during this time.
  9. What you're experiencing is the famous 3 week stall. It will pass. Keep doing what your doing. Mine staff started half way through week 3 and ended at end of week 5. You're going to hit LOTS of stalls, so don't get discouraged. I'm eating just a prescribed and working out like a fiend, but I've been in a stall since mid January. Not too worried though because I recently moved to size 16 jean...with no "W" next the number! My goal is size 14 by end of March, but it's just a goal, not a do or die situation.
  10. You're not doing anything wrong. A stall early out is so common, it even has a name (The Dreaded 3 Week Stall). The body is just adjusting to the fast weight loss and lack of calories. Right now your job is to worry about hydration and protien, not calories. That will come a little later out. Give yourself time to heal, stay hydrated and get that protien in and the stalls will pass.

    June 2018 losers bench

This 3 week stall is no joke it’s been over 2 weeks for me now 😓
  12. i was sleeved on july 2. i'm 3 weeks and3 days out. i started at 236, was at 219, for a loss of 17 lbs. Today i weighed 221!!i've GAINED 2 lbs. Thats crazy! i'm following all the rules, getting in my protein, eating right, walking on the treadmill, walking around shopping. Drinking my water, even taking miralax. I've heard of the 3 week stall but not the 3 week gain. WHAT THE HECK? Am I just doomed to be fat forever? Even after all this? I do not understand. Very frustrated today.

    Honest about the struggle

This is definitely an emotional ride. Now that I've vented, I am hearing more about the 3 week stall. If nothing happens this week, I'm trying a wild weekend . Thanks for sharing your experience!!
  14. Yes.. I was sleeved 4/6/15 and after a couple of weeks post op I was at a stand still for a about 2-3 wks. I stopped weighing my self to avoid disappointment and when I hopped back on the scale i found I lost 6 lbs. There's a post on the boards here about the "dreaded 3 week stall". There is a complex physiological reason behind it having to do with glycogen and water retention. I'm on my iPhone app right now so if someone would be kind enough to post a link (if you can) to the article it would be much appreciated! Good luck and keep following your plan. You'll get past this stall.
  15. It happens to EVERYONE! Seach the "3 week stall". SUPER common as things heal and get 'organized'. This too shall pass (and you might want to skip weighing yourself every day... if you are) I gained 10 pounds while in the hospital and had not lost anything in the first 2 weeks. But it all worked out.

    3week Stall :(

My 3 week stall lasted 10 days. But during it I noticed changes in the appearance of my body. (Parts shrinking). This week I started off with a 3 pound weight loss, and another one today, so 4 pounds this week. Hang in there, you are doing great!! It will happen.... I'm a believer now. Lisa

    So Dissappointed

Never fear. You've hit whats commonly known as the "3 week stall". During this week to two week period, you will see very little to no weightloss but you'll start seeing INCHES come off you. There are numerous posts on here about the three week stall you can search and read on. Just have to wait it out and keep doing what the doctor told you. I lost two pant sizes during my 3 week stall. So keep an eye on the inches!

    How Much At One Month?

you guys don't know what a slow loser is....It's ME - since 9/10 I have lost 11 pounds - I hit the 3 week stall and have stayed there ever since....so 20+ pounds lost at one month is absolutely awesome. although I have lost 11 inches (and more I'm sure, but I don't measure until Friday's). this damn stall and reading all these posts of ' boo hoo I've only lost 25 pounds' is making me crazy......it's like what the Heck is wrong with me???? it's very upsetting, it's like - wow out of thousands of sleevers - I'm going to be the one it doesn't work for. I'm not depressed, I'm pissed - severely pissed off. Had such a easy recovery - no reflux (don't take the PPI as I don't need it), no nausea hardly any pain. been on solids since week 3......but nothing is happening weight wise. I feel like I have this target on my back since everyone at the office knows I have had the surgery and are looking at me like 'looks like that didn't work for her...., or geez I don't see any difference. I am just freaking totally pissed - glad everyone else is losing like champions and happy for you guys....but geez, when will it be my turn? ok - off my soapbox....

    How's my calories?

You are approaching the famous 3 week stall. Happens to everyone. The best advice I can offer is to stay off the scale. I only weighed like 3 times in the 1st month postop. Eating healthy and creating new habits are more important than the scale at this point. Just concentrate on AT LEAST 60g of protein, 64oz. water and your vitamins. I've never counted calories, so I can't help you with that silly "numbers game".

    Hiw many ounces

It sounds like you are doing everything perfectly. Just keep on keeping on.. 3 week stall is a thing, and there will be more stalls to come. Don't let it get you down! If you are comfortably eating 4oz, that's ok. Just don't force it, and you'll want to keep to the 4oz portion sizes long term. (So even if you CAN eat 5-6 oz, don't do it... unless it's soup.. .. 8oz of soup is about right).

    Week 3 approaching 4 stall?

Oh man. I am too! It's tough because everyone that knows I had surgery keeps asking me how much I've lost and I have to explain the 3 week stall to them. Lol. This Tuesday will be my 4th week and I've weighted the same the last like 4 days. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. Heck no! You are doing great! If you stay on this forum very much, you will see the dreaded "3 week stall" talked about daily. I hit it at 2 weeks, others at 4 or 5 weeks. Just part of the process. I am a daily weigher but I will not allow the scales to dictate my day. Many suggest weighing yourself weekly. Just be sure you are getting your required amounts of protein and water and you will see the scales moving in the right direction before too long. Frustrating - yes! Lesson in patience and discipline - Yes! Just keep up your great work!
  23. You're at your 3 week stall...its infamous. Just watch...you'll lose inches now for a week or two but little to no weight. Keep in there, its not a race and there will be more stalls to come. Just prepare mentally and follow proper diet

    Obsessing Over My Stall

I hit a 3 weeks stall at about 2 1/2 weeks after surgery. It was so scary to think I was doing everything wrong. Do track your juice intake to make sure it's not getting out of control but other than that, be patient and kind to yourself. I hit 40 pounds in 70 days today (that included the 3 weeks stall) so it all comes off eventually. Good luck.
