  1. Sleeveless in seattle

    10 weeks out.

Depends on the food. I can eat 1-1/2 to 2 oz meat, but a 5.3 oz Greek yogurt. I'm 13-14 wks out and have never had a stall. Might get more responses if this was on a different forum other than ladies gone wild. Just sayin...

    Unjury Strawberry

It wasn't my favorite either. I mix in a little Torani sugar free strawberry syrup or crystal like strawberry and that helps a lot. I also have put in blended strawberry yogurt low calorie kind. With the chocolate I use Hood's Calorie Countdown Chocolate milk it has less, sugar, carbs, and calories the skim milk yummm!

Discouraged 10 month post op VSGr

I agree Tracking is crucial. The lack of accountability got me where I was in the first place. When I stalled for nearly a month (month 2)I had to go straight back to basic , I had to add in that protein shake, I had to remove slider foods like Greek yogurt, although they are protein rich I was often hungry very quickly. I had to add easy dense proteins back in like boiled eggs. I had to get 64oz min of liquids in by any means necessary, which for me mean using straws (which is under debate ) I had to return to the phases I thought I outgrew. If you are a coffee drinker one of the easiest ways to up way your protein consumption is by adding premier caramel shake to coffee. It's the only I have been able to tolerate the shakes post surgery. Don't be discouraged, this amazing tool you have will work for you if you use it Sent from my N817 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Pre-op Diet

Two weeks. Two Protein shakes, two servings of dairy such as yogurt or milk, 3 oz of meat or cheese, 1/2 cup veggies, 1 piece of fruit. It was tough but I did it and didn't cheat. Surgeon said my liver looked great. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Onight Oats (For Maintenance Folks)

So no cooking?.....I usually cook my steel cut oats (big pot) cool and then refrigerate and eat through the week, this sounds even better. Using the yogurt and protein powder is a great way to up the protein and then to throw in the fish oil gets that out of the way without the ewww taste. Thanks for sharing.
  7. It's certainly a balancing act! When I first had surgery, I set a timer in my phone for 1 minute. Everytime it went off, I would take a sip of Water. I would do that for about 20 minutes several times a day. I also did it with Protein shakes. Staying hydrated is important so keep working on it! Refried Beans, scrambled eggs, cottage cheese and yogurt are really what I ate during the mushy stage.
  8. I had surgery on 4/29 and now I'm on the soft foods phase. In the morning, I eat Breakfast (a serving of rice krispies which is 1 1/4 c) around six and around 9 o'clock, I'm absolutely starving to the point where my stomach is growling and I feel like i'm going to be sick. If I have a snack then, than I'm usually hungry again around 11, and I can't go to lunch until 12:30. In the afternoons I seem to do much better. I don't know if I'm eating enough, or even if I should be eating more or less? Can someone tell me if I am doing alright? I'm sooo worried about going in and finding out that I gained weight when I go in on the 29th for my first fill. Here's my menu for during the day: Breakfast: Rice Krispies w/milk Snack: yogurt/or applesauce Lunch: 2 tbsp. tuna w/4 saltine crackers Fruit cocktail cup string cheese Snack: jello/pudding (optional) I'm sooo afraid of falling back into the way that I used to, I don't want to stay overweight. I've lost 30 lbs since I've had the surgery done, and I don't want to mess this up. Can anyone give me some advice?
  9. I had my surgery the day before you did, and I was in the same boat. I realized that I needed to have protein heavy breakfasts. I usually scramble 2 eggs and that can hold me long enough for lunch. Now from lunch to dinner is another story. At lunch time I can eat eat eat. No restriction with the swelling gone. Again I am really trying to load up on the proteins. Usually some kind of bean dish along with tofu, or (i know it's gross to a lot of people) but I also eat braunsweiger, or liverwurst. It helps a bit. I usually get home and have a 4oz yogurt or some cottage cheese to hold me till my husband gets home for dinner.
  10. I have 20 lbs to go until my goal weight. After reading everyone's advice in my thread about what I eat each day, I consulted my nutritionist and I am going to change things up. I ditched the Atkins Bar as a snack. I am allowed to (2) ounce snacks a day. I haven't been eating fruit at all, but today I had a clementine and about six almonds as my first snack. I also bought plain Greek yogurt and fresh blueberries to have for breakfast. I also need to be more active. At my last doctor's appt a few weeks ago, he said don't worry about cardio and to lift heavy things. I am also going to up m water/fluid intake to 64 to about 90. I lost one pound in the last 12 days or so. I want to hit goal weight by December!

    Breakfast

I use Genepro protein powder. 1 scoop is 30 Gm of protein. It can be mixed in hot or cold so every morning I have a decaf coffee and stir in half a scoop of the Genepro, 15 Gm of protein with just my coffee! Sometimes I eat a protein bar, Life Choice from walmart, 170 cal, 18 Gm protein. This works great when I'm on the run. 33 Gm of protein total with my coffee! Other times I have a Dannon Greek yogurt and mix in half a scoop of the Genepro for 27 Gm of protein for a total (with coffee) 42 Gm of protein!! Genepro has no flavor and mixes in great with hot or cold.

    Describe after diet

I forgot to mention that I used Unjury unflavored protein powder quite a bit in the beginning months. I added it to yogurt, cottage cheese, mashed potatoes, etc. It is a good way to get in extra protein. It's not flavorless so I only used small quantities. If you go on their website, you can order samples so I recommend doing that so you can try a variety of powders. Also, I don't really get hungry but I have more of an empty feeling. I never feel voraciously hungry like I did before surgery, even when I was banded I would get very hungry. I am actually a bit emptier in the morning and like to drink 1/2 a protein shake in the morning on my way to work. This is very new to me, because when I was banded, I could never eat in the morning - so I'm enjoying eating a bit of protein in the morning! I also wanted to add that I really don't have very many cravings anymore. I was a big sweets eater before WLS and even after being banded, however, after plication my tastes have changed a bit. For example, when my children wanted cupcakes I bought them some Hostess cupcakes, which I used to love, and I took 1 bite of my daughter's cupcake and it tasted horrible!!! It just tasted fake and nasty - bleck! :/ not sure what happened there, but my tastes are definitely changing. I still like chocolate (a lot!) but hardly ever eat it. I bought some 100 calorie packs of cookies and will have 1/2 a pack of those every once in awhile. I think because I track my calories and my exercise that I am very aware of how much I have to wog (walk-jog) to compensate for "junk" food The only other thing I would add would be to make sure that you measure your food especially in the beginning. It is hard to eyeball 2-4 oz. of food especially when prior to WLS we probably tended to fill our plates with food. I also bought some smaller fancy plates and always ate off of those in the first couple months. I'd put 1/2 a stick of low fat string cheese and 2 thinly cut slices of turkey on a fancy plate and enjoy my food so much more!!! Good luck to you!
  13. I was reading posts over on the VSG forums and came across http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ Under the links and resources, there are some recipes that looked good, particularly the "BITES" section. I've always had a hard time eating a nutritional Breakfast. Mostly because I never get up in time to make something before heading to work. The idea of using a muffin pan to make scrambled egg "muffins" seemed like something I could accomplish on the weekend and have ready for the week without too much hassle. There's all sorts of stuff that looks good on there. Just thought I'd share. I'm almost two months out, and I've about reached my limit with just plain dairy Protein (string cheese, plain cottage cheese, plain greek yogurt), etc. I've been eating a lot of that since surgery and have been trying to find ways to fix things that are simple but different.
  14. I cheated...two weeks out..I ate cheese off pizza at a gathering to be eating with everyone and wanting solid food not just my isopure..... It went down easier and tasted great. I fact nothing has given me trouble, insides of a bean burrito, sauce and ricotta from inside lasagna yogurts cream soups and my fav laughing cow caso cheese so spicy!! But lentil soup tonight omg ouch why

    7 days out and struggling

I'm so sorry your frustrated. You are only a week out from major surgery, Our bodies don't react predictably from that a lot of the time. Just be patient and follow your plan and the weight will come off. In terms of your diet, of course listen to your team. I can tell you that early out I was "eating" only 1-2 oz very soft foods (like greek yogurt) and stuffed from that very small amount and waited 30-60 minutes after to drink fluids. Outside of those windows, I really, really focused on fluids. Small sips every couple of minutes as it was the only way to drink enough. It took a lot of effort to get them in until I could slowly drink more at one time.

    Anyone Suffer With Ulcers?

I think I have an ulcer....I am almost one year post op and have been doing ok with my high protien low carb diet but at six months I started drinking coffee again...just one large cup most days....and a few weeks ago I took ibuprofen twice for a bad sunburn....now for the last 5 days I have had some pretty bad burning pain in my stomach...cant really eat too much...just my greek yogurt and some eggs and string cheese. It hurts a bit even after drinking water. I am pretty sure it is an ulcer. I am going to stop my coffee for awhile and start a 2 week course of prilosec and see if that helps. I have my one year follow up in 3 weeks so i will ask then. good luck!
  20. Ugh I am so sorry to hear that you and your mom have been sick, believe me, I TOTALLY get it. You saw me! I haven't tried the protein water, I need to get some. Mainly I have had, coffee (Dr. Miranda told me I could have some on day 4), vitamin water, and chicken broth. I really like the broth actually because its salty and sorta feels like a meal to me. I have been making dinners for my family which has been hard to not eat them. If I didn't have to cook I wouldn't be thinking about it at all I don't think. I get to be on full liquids tomorrow although I have had a few sips of drinkable yogurt over the last few days and that has stayed down fine. Talk to you soon chica!

    Why?

On my diet list of foods at 3 days I can go on full liquids which inludes pudding, yogurt and cream of wheat ect.
  22. Just say no to from frozen yogurt!!!!!! If you want yogurt in a Protein shake add Greek yogurt a couple ice cubes (you can even make fat free frozen milk cubes) and mix in a blender. Hampton Beach personal blender is fabulous on ice. Add splendra to sweeten. Don't fool yourself that adding frozen yogurt to a Protein Shake makes it healthy.

    post op food question

It all depends on your surgeon. Each surgeon seems to have his/her own "rules" as to what you can or cannot have. During the liquid stage after being banded, I was allowed to have broth, Protein shakes, thinned cream of wheat Cereal made with skim milk, yogurt, cream Soups made with skim milk and ran through a blender, sugar-free Jello, sugar-free popsicles, sugar-free puddings, sugar-free koolaid, and 100% fruit juices.

    puree

For purees, I was told sugar-free pudding, yogurt (f you can find it, Chobani Champions cups are the perfect size), strained cream of chicken soup, cottage cheese, and baby food. Last night, I made chicken salad and puréed it and I made puréed carrots. That's the thickest food I've had. I'm 4 weeks out. I should be on soft foods but I have had trouble with foods making me sick. Dinner last night was great. My best advice is go slow. Try one new thing a day. That way, if something doesn't agree with you, you will know what it was.

    Physical limits after surgery

I pack an insulated lunch bag every morning with a couple of diff cheese sticks, a peeled boiled egg in a baggie, a rtd premier or mm shake and a yogurt. I boil eggs on the weekend and leave them in the shells in a bowl in the fridge. I log all this into mfp in the morning before i leave. I sometimes add a grape isopure to swig on the drive home. Its not hard if everything is ready to grab out, toss in and go! I have bits of this throughout the main part of the day and enjoy a nice dinner once home.
