I switched to Protein bars the minute I was allowed solid foods, because I was SO OVER shakes. You just have to be very choosy and make sure you don't get anything high in net carbs, sugar, or saturated fat. I used to swear by Quest Bars until they changed their main ingredient and now they do NOT agree with my intestines. I now use Combat Crunch Bars, but they are a little higher in calories and net carbs, so I am not sure I'd recommend them for the weight loss stage (I'm in maintenance). You should be able to get a LOT of your protein from food by now as well. Greek yogurt, string cheese, and turkey snack sticks were all good ways for me to get protein in between meals. For meals themselves, make sure you are making high protein choices and always putting your protein first. -

Are you allowed snacks? What is your protein goal? If you are looking for 75 grams of protein in a meal, you can get that from 3 meals of 3 ounces of meat, then have Greek yogurt or turkey jerky for a snack. -

Your so funny. Yep I can only imagine! Oh the simplest of things...Never taste so good I do have a shaker ball cup. It's meant for the shakes cause I drink instant Breakfast often since I'm not a breakfast eater. If I get up at like 5am I usually have s cup or 3 of coffee, a yogurt or oatmeal around 1030ish and don't actually eat lunch till around 230ish. I'm just not quick to start eating. Actually upsets my stomach if I do. May have something to do with the hiatal hernia I'm not sure but I've never been a breakfast or should I say morning eater. I'm not a morning person period! Lol Right now I'm on synthroid for my high scores in my thyroid levels. We're supposed to be .04-.40 and I'm at 25.7! I'm way off. So I'm taking that and Vitamin D since I'm way low on that too, methacarbamol (muscle relaxer) tylenol#3 and Motrin coated with malox all for my neck and back. I have a bunch of herniated discs in my lower back and neck. I also have a broken bone in my foot right now I'm getting doctored for and a severed tendon there too. My last test is the stress test and they will have to do it in a bed since I can't wak/run the treadmill like they need. They'll just give me an injection to induce my heart level. Last thing I gotta do So back to the Vitamins. I take D, calcium, multi and I think that's it. I will ask what they require. Did you get any of the Biotin for hair (yes I know your a guy lol) and also did you get the miralax and gas ex tongue melts? -
At 4 months post op I was still living on cheese, yogurt, soup, and protein shakes. Even at 7 months post op now, eggs are still hit or miss for not coming back up. I've pretty much come to the conclusion that chicken and I are through. Occasionally I tolerate a very small amount of a chicken thigh (never breast meat), but generally slow cooker beef or fish are better tolerated for me. I also find chili tolerable, but cannot eat a hamburger (even without the bun).

Refried beans, chili and Greek yogurt - all with added unflavored protein powder were my go-tos when I first started the purée phase. -
8 days post-op, no weight loss and I can eat without pain

Mine is a 3 month diet as well. 4 weeks is definitely more bearable! I'm 13 days post op today and this morning I heard my stomach growl! But I still wasn't hungry! As I mentioned before, my tolerance for soft foods is very good. So, i started chewing on more soft foods (crab meat, yogurts, sweet potatoes etc). I have lost about 5lbs post surgery but I've lost a very noticeable amount of inches in my waist and my upper body area. My face has really thinned out as well. I'm not really stressing about the number-it will go down with time. I just want to be healthy and not malnourished in the long run. It's hard to even remember to eat! And I'm still struggling with getting all of my fluids in. It's a work in progress! I feel great though! Yes stomach noises!!! My NUT said the stomach noises mean our stomachs are cleaning themselves and I don't think I've actually had real hunger, more mental, no growling due to hunger only cleaning! Yes the number does not matter! Physically I have changed drastically! Jeans are getting looser, roundness in my face too has gone down. I think being scale obsessed will hurt more and I did read that one, your body can be changing the fat into muscle with all the Protein and two, tightening and toning up; either way there is loss in inches, dress sizes and FAT! Definitely feel great too! I am like you.I don't believe in weighing myself obsessively.I know I am losing ...it shows in my face etc...but for me to obsess over every pound is not cool for me.It will discourage me. -

I'm doing purées right now too, Greek yogurt, mashed potatoes, Popsicles and lentil Soup have been my staples. I tried a 1/2 scrambled egg today. And couldn't even finish that. But can finish one of those light & fit 4 oz yogurts in 30ish minutes. It's weird. -

@@SactoWendy! I know how you feel! My doctor gave me the green light to progress as comfortable (from liquid to mushies to crispies to regular), and I'm just 12 days out. Tried half a scrambled egg today. I got full before half of the half portion was gone. Which is so crazy to me because I can finish a 4oz yogurt in like 30min but couldn't finish the eggs (which I measured out at 1T/ half an ounce). -
I was able to transition to puréed -soft food and I'm very happy about that! Never thought I'd be excited to eat cottage cheese but it tasted wonderful. So meals have been Greek yogurt, hard boiled eggs and cottage cheese. Usually full after about 1/4-1/3 cup but it's such a nice change from liquids. The dietitian said the brain fog would fully lift as I got more carbs. Still have some residual blurred vision from the meds- but that should clear up soon. Bonus, don't have to go to the dry cleaner this week. My closet full of "shrinking" clothes ar now fitting again.

Anyone with food intake issues and nausea after Sleeve surgery?

Hi there, I was sleeved on January 6th--I had nausea for the first three days and then my surgeon prescribed me anti-nausea medications that dissolved under my tongue. I have had no nausea since. I am three weeks out and able to eat three to four times a day plus liquids. My meals consist of four ounces of cottage cheese, four ounces of plain yogurt and bananas etc. I cannot eat a lot of volume, but I don't really want to. What you are experiencing I have not heard of nor experienced--it sounds a little abnormal. I really hope you are going to be alright. Leilie -
I was sleeved January 6th. I am still really tired. My starting weight was 216 (day of surgery). I weighed myself this morning and I am 196--which is so crazy to me. I am still really tired, on pureed foods--so hummus, cottage cheese, plain NF yogurt etc. I feel so free in the sense that I am not constantly thinking about food--but also a bit sluggish. It's amazing. I can't wait to go swimming--one more week.

Your sleepiness could be the anesthesia still. Some people have difficulty getting it out of their system. Be kind to yourself. If your sleepy, take a nap. It's your "Diva" moment!

Turkey bacon, sausage, cheese cubes, ham or turkey cubes, tuna salad with multigrain flax crackers, yogurt....nuts(if you can tolerate them). I don't usually have breakfast as such because my pouch can't tolerate food that early in the morning, so I grab a shake and then at lunch, I'll have something from the list above and at dinner, I try to eat what the rest of the family is having, but if it's something that won't work for me because of carbs, fat, grease, or texture, then I usually keep peanut butter or cheese on hand and have that instead. -

I think after surgery I waited a week for solids and when I began eating solids I wasn't 100% sure I felt okay so I went back to liquids for another 4 days. Like the Proffessor said don't rush into solids let your band heal and you'll avoid unnecessary problems. When I was on the liquid diet I would have sugar free jello, liquid sugar free yogurt, broth (chicken, fish, beef). Take your time I know it's so frustrating to only be on liquids but it's for your own good. People that struggle with the band didn't follow the directions and had complications. You went through the hard part already just make it easier on yourself and avoid slowing down your healing processby eating solids. In the grand scheme of things what's another week on liquids. Right? When you call your dr ask about your vitamins when is it ok to start on them. I am sooo exited for you!!! -

@@SBennette38 meant to say that, for me, protein bars are a slider food. Identifying our sliders is an important part of the process. I have the links to a couple of sources that really helped me -- Dr. Simpson's web site and the O'Brien 8 Golden Rule youtube videos. Maybe they will help you, too. Sliders are things that go right down. I love Greek yogurt and that's a good food for me but I have to put some nuts and cereal in it (mix-ins!) in order for it to be "chewable." It's really all about the chewing -- that's what signals the brain for satiety. Getting that hunger monster off of my back was the best thing I ever did. -
I am one day into my preop liquid diet. I am supposed to have less than 50g of carbs and 60-80g protein. I have had a protein shake for breakfast, light and fit Greek yogurt for lunch, broth, sugar free jello, more Greek yogurt. Anyone else feel faint from it? I'm a 1st grade teacher and thinking I'm going to have to take the rest of the week until surgery off.

I ate a lot of Ricotta Bake and fat free refried bean with cheese melted on top. I also had mashed up avocado (I know yours says no veggies yet but consider this one. Other veggies,/fruit may be too fibrous to try right now). I could not bear pureed meats so I just did the best I could starting some foods and then kept getting my protein from shakes or powder. I would mix 1/2 scoop of vanilla powder with 1/2 container of yogurt (Danton Light and Fit Strawberry Cheesecake Greek yogurt or Key Lime Greek were my favorite). I also mixed 1/2 scoop of chocolate protein powder with a sugar free chocolate pudding snack. This stage is tough. You just have to get thru it. Remember you r stomach is still healing so be easy. If something doesn't work, try something different the next meal. Hugs! You will all get thru it!! -

Mine is a 3 month diet as well. 4 weeks is definitely more bearable! I'm 13 days post op today and this morning I heard my stomach growl! But I still wasn't hungry! As I mentioned before, my tolerance for soft foods is very good. So, i started chewing on more soft foods (crab meat, yogurts, sweet potatoes etc). I have lost about 5lbs post surgery but I've lost a very noticeable amount of inches in my waist and my upper body area. My face has really thinned out as well. I'm not really stressing about the number-it will go down with time. I just want to be healthy and not malnourished in the long run. It's hard to even remember to eat! And I'm still struggling with getting all of my fluids in. It's a work in progress! I feel great though! Yes stomach noises!!! Down 15 pounds ! Almost in the 170's. Still having mashed food, so far potato, rutabaga, carrots. And I tried soft chicken today. I could of had more but I didn't want to overdue it because I also had some mashed veggies with it. I also been having greek yogurts, puddings, liquid protein shakes. Trying to stay away from soups and broths. Tired of it lol. I also started my vitamins today. My b12 strips are mint flavour and nasty for a few mins then becomes tolerable, then once I have a drink its fine. Its a challenge when I eat food I just want to gobble it all up. Funny thing I still don't feel actual normal hunger. Also my stomach bugles like crazy when I have solids. people can actually hear the gurgling. Incisions are healing. 2 of them are slightly open but slowly closing up.

I'm 2 years out and still have either oatmeal or greek yogurt for breakfast. eggs are easy to make and digest, you can add some cheese and top with some salsa for added flavor with a limited amount of calories and fat. Also, for a change every now and then I'll have either a banana or apple with Peanut Butter. (I usually only eat about half of the fruit and a tablespoon of peanut butter. -

Dear TodayItEnds, this whole thing is a crap shoot. I am 8 weeks post today and I started purees and realized very quickly that what works for some does not work for me, and what I'm supposed to gag on goes down smooth. Like, eggs. I loved eggs, I've tried them 8 ways to Sunday post opp, with mixed results. Never is it better as an experience than "meh". Soft and wet is where to start. Undercooked Salmon is better going down, for me, than dry overcooked trout. I liked cheese - it went down easy. Chicken slurry was ... Yogurt popsicles- awesome. Soft noodles on bone stock. Sublime. Just get in you a taste of it, you are just trying to survive what you did to yourself at this stage. -

Thank YOU.Valentina Hello, it's a lil off topic but what is your reaction if you consume soy? My 8 year daughter is also extremely allergic to soy. She has vomiting and diarrhea. On another note, Healthy Choice also has a Greek frozen yogurt. I've found in the frozen foods section with the Healthy Choice section. I go into anaphylactic shock. Starts with itchy throat/mouth, feeling clammy, itching ALL over, welts everywhere, throat/face swells--can't hear, can't see, breathing difficult/ heart races and then it all goes down hill from there. -
Stay away from acidic foods.Get a good probiotic...the ones that are refrigerated....with billions of active live cultures.Greek yogurt(plain) .Eat soothing soft alkaline foods and return to shakes..I have lived with this from my lapband days...stay away from fruits and tomatoes.
