I hate it when people post just to post.....

PJTP my NSV of the day---I try to find one each day. My DD is going through a rough time, and has rented her own place, but it will not have utilities until Thrusday so til then she, and her daughter and 2 dogs are with us. Love the granddaughter being here, could do without her rather nuerotic dogs!! But anyway...the NSV! She has so much stuff packed she ask if she could look in my closet for a sweater to wear since it is snowing like crazy out. I said sure. Pretty soon, she walked out, decked in MY clothes, from Uggs to jeans, to sweater-----she ended up wearing the jeans and sweater. She said she did it to show me what I look like to the rest of the world. I am telling you, if I look anything at all like she did, I am totally flabbergasted, because that is not what I see in the mirror! She made my day! Makes my eyes tear up to know I did it! With my band, and a little help from my friends! Kat

I consider that a HUGE NSV (no pun intended)! I'd LOVE to buy non-plus undies. Waiting for the day they are minus undies.

PJTP- Small NSV...I was able to buy very cute, non-plus size undies today (and they fit)! Of course, it just points out that I have completely lost any rear end that I had.

    NSV non surgical victories NEW

I have to fly allot and it used to be a shore. Some of my NSV are being able to walk straight down the isle without fear of hitting everyone with my hips or having to walk sideways. Another is not having to have a seatbelt extender. I also have a great big smile when I actually have to tighten it to fit. I also enjoy using the tray table since it does not hit my stomach any more and actually have to extend it.

    NSV non surgical victories NEW

The bathtowel victory was great for me too . . . lol. I will never buy another bathsheet again (but I still have some old ones in case my belly gets a little big with this pregnancy). Another great NSV for me has been sitting on the floor with my arms wrapped around my knees . . . this is amazingly very comfortable and easy now.

LOL on the NSV. My size 14 petite jeans I boughtr 3 weeks ago are getting big on the legs. So.....hoping by New Year I can get some 12's or 11's. I won't go shopping till I hit 170 then see what fits. Hope to be that by New Years. I am still wearing tops and they are big. So glad that's the style still. I have lots of those baby doll empire tops and now they fit so much better. I can wear them for a few more months. I want to get through the winter before I buy anything more than new jeans. Although there is a sweater at Coldwater Creek I have my eye on....hope it goes on sale after the holidays. It's a bit pricy. LOL
  11. I was noticing that after my shower that my normal size bath towel (not the bath sheet) fits around me and ClOSES completley! YEA!!:wink2: Banded April 1 2008

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Hi Shamrocks! Fenton - I feel your pain. I dislike Isopure, but choke it down from time to time to get the Protein in. Lynn - I'm not sure what day is your birthday, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Tess- 70 pounds is a huge amount of weight. Just in case you don't think so, go get a 50 pound bag of dog food or potatoes or something and carry it around a little. I know what it is like to get part way there and then stall and get frustrated. I KNOW you can do it! Christine - size 16!!!!! (I'm pea green with envy) Awesome! NurseNiki - Isn't great when people start noticing? I haven't had that happen this time around, but I remember the feeling in the past. It is validation for all the hard work. What a wonderful NSV. Life is moving along quickly these days. I am still a little concerned about the baking in a week or so, but I have a plan. I have several "official" scale weigh ins in January, the first week. I don't want to be disappointed. I think if life is as busy as it has been, I'll be OK. Lately, I struggle to get all the Water and protein in. I actually get too busy to eat. LOL I love that my clothes are getting looser. I can't wait to be able to shop is non-fat lady stores!

    Post your NSVs

I saw Roheryn's NSV post and thought it would be fun for us to keep a running thread of our NSVs, to me they are more exciting than the scale moving! I didn't want to hijack her thread so here's a place for you to post if you want to join, here's a couple I've had lately: 1. Couple weeks ago I realized as I was walking that my arms were swinging freely, not brushing my hips! 2. I shrunk out of my size 24 jeans a while back but my size 22 jeans were also getting way too big so I went in last week to buy 20s, and they were also too big! Same brand same style too, I was so excited, I'm in size 18s for the first time in years! 3. In waiting rooms I used to always search for a bench or an armless chair and have a mini-panic if there weren't any cause I knew I could squeeze in but would be very uncomfortable and have that 'all eyes are on me' feeling. Today I was waiting for my mom in an appointment and realized I was sitting comfortably in a regular sized armed chair, I had sat down in the first chair without even thinking about it or looking around to find one I would fit in.

Congratulations that is outstanding! These are the best kind of victories (not that the scale one aren’t great too) but the clothes indicators really drive home the success story. My biggest NSV will be when I don’t have to go the Big Man store and can shop in regular stores. Keep up the great work.

NSV are the best. I also find it hard to wrap my brain around being a smaller size. I look at the clothes and think, "I could never fit in that!" At least you only paid $5 for the pants! Keep up the good work!

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

I had a NSV last night at dance class for my DD. I followed her into the bathroom to help her change clothes and the owner of the studio came in after me. I turnned around and she was toe to toe with me...and in a soft voice said "ok, me and Becky (the front desk girl) want to know what you are doing to lose all of this weight." I was taken so off guard. I think this was the first time someone I was not "out" to said something about it. I chuckled and told her that is was a combo of having the lap band, eating 1500 ish cals a day and working out. She seemed to only hear the lap band part and was full of questions. I gladly answered them and then she left to go back out in the studio. After she left I wanted to cry. I was not sure if it was an emotional release of the joy that comes with how far I have came, or if I was worried that the small town dance studio would be buzzing with the news of my surgery! Either way, I wondered how I would handle it when the day came, and I guess I got my answer!

NSV - Yes the dropping clothing size is a big boost as they go down. I was told the other day to start buying more fitting clothes/tops, I still tend to buy looser fitting things: A mental block on having something cling to me!! I have bought a few new things this week and they are flattering, if I do say so myself :tt1: WTG for everyone in thier successes. Let us all keep up the good work over the holiday season

SO I got my fill yesterday, getting to that point where I am taking fills slowly and being careful...and fearful of if I get overfilled. So I decided I'd take it easy and went to do some xmas shopping (I have a fair bit more to do DOH!!) but whilst there I tried on some clothes for myself. It is hard because my mind is still in 'fatter mode' where I think that certain sizes will def NOT fit. but I thought what the hey I'll give it a go. So I tried on two tops and they fit!! I haven't been able to buy a size 16 in years!!! So I had to buy them...I realised I need some tops to get me through the summer :tt1:~ I also have a pair of pants I bought too small for me for $5.00 (that were on sale having been $100) I didn't try them on thinking I had a lot more to go before they'd fit but I tried them on a few weeks ago and they were really loose and now I think they are too big!! ARRGHH!! Then I got a hair cut and colour...Amazing how a day can make you feel better about yourself :tt1:

BEST NSV EVER! This make it ALL worth it!

great for you, you have to love those nsv
  22. I went shopping tonight with my girls. the clerk asked for ID, I have my DL. she says this is not you in the picture". I felt so good. :tt1:
  23. Thanks!!! But in all honesty, the 18-20 size pants were those stretchy pants, so I'm sure if they were actual pants and not "fat girl" pants, they probably wouldnt' have fit! But I'll take the NSV's where I can get them!

Hi everyone! Christine - I am sorry for your loss. It sounds like you have a good handle on things. It sure is a lot! Harley - I thought your dress was beautiful. I bet you looked great! I have a picture of a dress I want to wear on my bedroom door. I look at it daily. Mostly, it is inspiration! SpecialK - Way cool about the NSV. I love it when stuff like that happens!!!! Tess - lol, my birthday is April 15th. We are birthday mates! Well, I went to the party and had a fabulous time. I took a nibble of some rum cake. (holy cow was that stuff potent) and took a tiny bite of carmel apple cake. (yummy!) and drank 1/2 glass of wine. The rest was all good stuff. I felt wonderful. I actually didn't want any more of the cakes or booze! I had a little, enjoyed myself a lot and danced the night away. I can't think of a better way to enjoy the party. Last year, I enjoyed it, but felt so huge and like my skin was too tight. This year was so very much better!!! Another good thing was that the scale didn't go in the wrong direction. I am a little nervous about the 22nd. It is my official baking day. I bake tons of Cookies and make this stuff called "white trash". The white trash is sooooooo good. Most of the stuff will be out of my house by the next day, so that is good. I just have to maintain my willpower for one day! It is very sad that cookies can just slide right through the band! But, I anticipate that I will eat only one cookie. I'll allow myself one and then put all the goodie bags in my car. (hopefully, it will be as cold as it is today and no way will I go out there! lol) Have a great day fellow bandsters!

    Jfdi !!!!!!!!!!

mrboswell, Congrats!!!!! That is great to hear that you've had good early success! Don't forget to measure the NSVs (Non scale Vitories) as well. They are everywhere early on. Think about how out of breath a certain activity made you before being banded. Now? There are little changes that we aren't always aware of. My approach was, and you are welcome to emulate it, to not set WEIGHT goals, but FITNESS goals. Sure, I still keep track of the #. It is what we all understand. However, if that is/becomes your FOCUS, you will miss oppportunities for growth and lasting change. As one of my larger fitness goal, I set a goal to run one 5K in 2008. I'll admit, it wasn't a very lofty goal now that I have hindsight. I did not know how I would adapt to the band and did not have a mentor to "show me the way". Set a goal you are comfortable with. Remember, a goal not written is only a wish. Once you set the goal, think of milestones that will help you to measure your progress. I have a form that I created in Excel called LBGoals. I'd be happy to share it with you. It now has 16 tabs to the spreadsheet. I measure everything there. I have a quote on my Goals page that headlines it all. It says: "When performance is measured performance improves. When performance is measured and reported the rate of improvement accelerates." Thomas S. Monson Pres. Monson gave that quote more in a business setting than religious one. It is quoted everywhere in business. Google it. He is so right on target with that! I have a "Coach" who is a former neighbor who used to run track at USU. He knows about my band, but he isn't there to talk to about the band. I went to him for advice on running. I asked if he would mind if I shared my workouts with him each week. I copy a portion of my weekly workouts into a training log that I send him each Sunday. He helps me to focus my workouts to where they will help me improve the most. These are short emails. I've only seen him a few times in the past year as he now lives in another city. I feel like I "owe" him an accounting of my workouts since he has been generous with his suggestions. He helps me - and lo and behold, I've helped him to FOCUS too. I can share a whole lot more. I am open to discuss any of my experiences with you. Let me know. Chris
