    40f bougie anyone?

Mine is a 40. Losing just fine! 4 months out, down 48 since surgery, 90 since I started my journey. Losing a couple lbs. a week slow and steady! So I think things are going great.

    Need to vent!

Im on 2nd fill too and can relate! I've learned we can confuse thirst for hunger. Sometimes when we are dehydrated a chemical sensation in our belly triggers our mind to think (Hunger). I am having my 3rd fill this week and Im determined to show up with weight loss. My friend just had her 4th fill and says she is finally feeling restriction. Please don't feel down things will be tough but we have it in us to succeed with this tool!

    Need to vent!

Don't feel bad - I, too, avoid coming on the site like I used to. It took me nearly 2 years and 7 fills before I got to my "sweet spot". With good restriction, a healthy diet, and regular exercise, I finally started losing consistently and was starting to notice change in the way my body was beginning to look and feel. Things were going great until I was hit with a medical dilemma - an unplanned hysterectomy...as my husband and I were planning to try to get pregnant. I was devastated and became depressed and withdrawn. I stopped working out, wasn't mindful of what I ate, and began gaining the weight I worked so hard to lose. Three weeks ago, after my birthday, I realized what I was doing to myself and decided to get back in gear. I started being mindful of what I eat and drink, and am trying to get myself motivated to work out regularly like I used to. I've lost 8 lbs so far, but am still frustrated. I really want to be at my goal weight by the end of summer (I've got 30 lbs to go).
  4. I just finished my morning protein drink. It's the premier protein drink from costco and it's 11 oz. So I spent approximately one hour walking around the house and taking sips of the protein shake. Now that I'm finished, I've walked 5342 steps. My pedometer says I've burned 245 calories. The protein shake is 160 calories. So I know I've lost some weight there. While I'm home the next 4.5 weeks, I think I will keep up this routine for breakfast
  5. I just got off the phone with alma, Dr. Sanchez's administrator and she said she got the rooms and they are 5 star with runnng Water falls in the pool and a wonderful band and wonderful 5 star chefs. She said we're going to have a blast. For those who don't know it's Dr. Sanchez that done a lot of our surgeries in Monterrey Mexico throwing the bash. It's always huge. She said she got us a wonderful price for the rooms. 88.00 and she said they were wonderful. Hope everyone is going, you better be going Amy and Rob. She said she would be sending out info on it later this week. :clap2:
  6. Try to find a place with benches (like a park or mall). One week out I went to this lovely park and walked (more like strolled) one mile but I had to stop and sit on the bench three times. If I felt at all I needed to rest, I did. Just take it easy and don't get too exhausted. This early out it's not about burning calories, but more about helping your body to heal and getting a regular exercise program started.
  7. good to hear the food wasn't correct. I was banded 1 week ago and it scared me. I think the food on the before was less too

    feeling guilty

I was banded in 2/28 and I have been ok with my hunger. I think my trick is I eat a little bit all day. Like for example today, I had a Protein shake on my way in to work, then at 9am I had a yogurt, then at 11:45 I had some chicken salad and a sugar free pudding, then at 2:30 I had another yogurt (carrot cake flavor, yum) and then at 3:45 I had another sugar free pudding. In between all that I was chugging Water. I have been sticking to that kind of eating pattern since surgery and I have lost 5lbs since surgery. Believe me I have wanted french fries and ice cream too, but I watch a lap band sugery on youtube.com yesterday and seeing the brutal things that were done inside me I have refrained from eating solid foods because it needs to heal. Try drinking more water or crystal light. I have seen this post many times on this site, so you are not alone. I have heard this is the time you have to white knuckle through it. Remember that tummy of yours was just put through hell and back so be nice to it. Good Luck!!

    Kitten Lover Thread

I can't believe you named her PITA (Pain in the Ass). A long time ago I had a ferret that I named PITA which stood for exactly the same thing!!! That's so funny, no one I have ever talked to had heard of such a thing. But true to his name he was a royal pain that chased everyone around trying to bite their toes, but the final straw was when he took my 12 week old himalayn kitten and almost took her eye out. Luckily we found a teenager working at a pet store that really wanted him, so we turned him over. The kitten ended up being okay and several hundreds of dollars later at the vets we were able to save her eye. So alls well that ends well. Cindy

    Like clock work....

Thank goodness someone directed me to this site at our local support meeting last Thursday. Last week I saw my surgeon for my first post op checkup. I was down 30lbs sine December 30th. Since that appt I have not lost a pound. I'm at 3 weeks. I hadn't heard or been told about the 3 week stall! Thank Heaven for all of you. I'm not happy I've stalled but much more at peace knowing others have gone through this too.

    Like clock work....

I'm in mine as well. I'm 3 weeks on Wednesday. I'm also still on liquids.
  12. I went back to work five days postop and do 13 hour shifts so that was a lot of my walking there. I found I felt better when I was up and moving. I'm only 2 weeks post op and it's been raining since I came home from surgery so on my days off I was going to mall and walking but then I wanted to shop. Lol. So a few days ago I joined the gym and have gone there everyday since and just do the treadmill. I tried the elliptical first because that used to be my favorite but I found that really bounces my belly and doesn't feel so good so I switched. I just make sure I hit minimum steps a day my NUT set in my plan.

    Like clock work....

I just hot the three week stall. I'm down 29 lbs and couldn't wait to say I am down 30! Well, that may not happen right away. But I am so relieved to know that a "3 week stall" is actually a thing that others go through too. If I didn't know about this ahead of time I'm sure I would be really hard on myself...and I don't want that kind of negativity when I'm working so hard at this!

    Like clock work....

I hit mine right on schedule too. Even knowing what to expect and knowing they are NBD, I was still completely anxious about it at first. Reading the board called called "Don't Sweat the Stall Stuff" (I think it's under General WLS) has been hugely helpful in keeping me sane. I have been weighing myself every day. Just yesterday I finally forced myself to put the scale away, and I am enjoying today not knowing what the scale says. I'm going for a weekly Monday check-in myself.

    How much did you lose?

I also had to get my wedding ring resized. It was getting to the point where I though it would just fall off. I was a solid 7 and now it's a 5 3/4. It's getting loose again but dealing with it until it almost falls off again and then I will get it resized again. The money you spend after surgery is crazy. Get to know your goodwill stores.

    Hunger With Sleeve Vs Band

I'm only two weeks out but I do experience less hunger and when I have hunger pangs (from just going several hours without drinking something), it hurts. I assume it hurts because I'm so early out and it'll get better but it's rather painful.

    Hunger With Sleeve Vs Band

With the sleeve, at least for the first few months hunger is more a mental issue than a physical one(cravings). When the reduce the size if your stomach the remove the major portion that produces Gherin(sp) the chemical that produce the hunger sensation in our bodies. After a few months your body will adjust and you will feel hunger again. I am only 10 weeks out at this time, so all I can say is I have yet to experience hunger.

    Natural Birth

I guess that depends on what you mean by natrual! I labored for 37 hours with back labor until I finally had to get an epidural because I wasn't progressing (too tense, baby facing the wrong way!) About 3-4 hours after the epi also had the smallest amount of pitocin and that pushed him right down in a matter of 1-2 hours! I pushed for 20 minutes (unable to feel anything sadly...I really wanted to go completely natural) and he was out! Xander swallowed some meconium on his way out so after his first night with us, he had to go to the NICU for about 4 days to work the junk out of his lungs and get some antibiotics. Nothing serious thankfully, but just as stressful and devistating! He's a healthy, happy 6 month old now
  19. I'm eating about a cup of food at a sitting - with about 1000-1200 calories total for the day. EXCEPT for this past week - we had to say goodbye to our 14 yr old schnauzer last Friday. I've done a little stress/emotional eating, but not totally out of control AND it's easing up now - as I know we made the right decision, etc. Anyhow, I still have a protein shake every morning to bump up the protein total. It's about 40 grams of protein. That gives me a little leeway the rest of the day for hitting my 80 gram minimum for protein. I think the biggest thing is to get back to journaling your food intake daily. I know it isn't exactly fun, but it will get you back on track or at least really pinpoint what you can work on, etc.
  20. The band will limit the QUANTITY of food I can eat, It's up to me to make the best of what I do eat.... I learned not to make the mistake of starting a meal with an appetizer, maybe a cup of Soup, then realize the band will not allow me to eat anymore....I blew it, never got to my Protein entree.... I'm not on any diet, don't count calories, etc. I just know what foods are good and what foods are bad. Over the holidays, I ate whatever I wanted. It was my choice. And I thoroughly enjoyed !! Difference is, the no matter what I chose to eat, the band will not allow me to over eat...and I really don't mind because I do not experience hunger the way I used to...it's all eye candy. In my case, the band IS a Magic Bullet...it took months of struggling to get there, but once I did..... The band prevents me from over eating...portions set My hunger (and cravings) are non existent.. There are certain food types I will never be able to eat again, majority not good for me in the first place. For a guy who used to eat en entire x-large pizza, along with 2-3 beers all by himself every friday night, and nocannot get through a single slice (if I wanted to).... THAT'S MAGICAL

    Sushi?

When can we have sushi? I have a friend who's nutritionist gave her the go ahead!! Mine said no rice, so I figured I'd ask here. HerNUT also said she can have whole grain bread! ... we're 3 months out. I just wish they would all use the same damn rules! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    It is over...

I am now 2 days post op and all is well except for this crummy GAS!!! I have been walking and moving and just about anything to relieve it. My incisions hurt some, but it's not that bad. Now I have to get thru 2 weeks of a liquid diet w/protein shakes. FUN! I am looking forward to mushies...
  23. I love it! I too was scheduled to be banded, infact I had to reschedule 3 times due to different happenings, but a friend of mine asked why the band and not the sleeve...I ended up doing research on the sleeve and thought why not, less hassle afterward, no fills or flipped ports... and here I am today. 16 days and 16 pounds down. I can't belive it... If you are considering the band you should really look into the sleeve! I love it! Jeanne __________________ Originally posted at www.lapbandtalk.com
