Fill or no fill? Opinions needed!

I agree with Lisa and tmf. I would go in at least for a sanity check and also to weigh in so you know exactly where you're at. You at least need a baseline in order to gauge future progress but I suppose there always NSVs to go by. Looser clothes and such. I know it's not all about numbers on a scale but when it comes to measuring real progress numbers are important. As for needing a fill I guess the questions I would ask myself is... 1. How long can you go in between meals before getting hungry? 2. Are you grazing throughout the day?
  2. I went to a beginner belly dancing class tonight and it was SO MUCH FUN! Everyone was friendly and non judgmental. It works the abs, thighs, hips and arms! Definitely recommend you guys try it if you get the chance. As a woman who has been heavy her entire life I've never felt especially feminine or "sexy", but the class made me feel good about myself for the first time in a long time. I wouldn't have had the confidence to even go to a belly dance class pre band so this is a NSV for me. Just wanted to share

May 1st RNY don't feel like losing weight

OP, I had the RNY I lost about 16lbs the 1st month; I'm almost at month 2 and I have lost about 23 lbs all in all. My surgeon thinks I'm right on track. I started at 206 5'4". I had to replace all my clothes. I started boxing and kickboxing at week 5 and feel great! The scale is disappointing but I look at all my NSVs! Clothes are loose; my skin has a chance to catch up with my weight loss; my co-workers don't realize I had the surgery at all; I've had to move my watch wristband 3 notches tighter; and my husband can't keep his hands off of me! Chin up! We will reach goal!

Sounds like an NSV to me!! Congrats! Doesn't it feel good!!!
  6. I am a high BMI girl (over 60 ) but have changed my diet, worked on eating disorders and just tried to change my life this year. Been doing pre op keto diet since late august waiting on my surgery date. Down 70 lbs this year so yay there.. My NSV was my wardrobe changes! i was buying mostly size 34 shirts ( a few bigger). I saw a shirt on amazon that i liked that was biggest at size 28. I ordered it for “later” after surgery- but as a lark i tried it on and it fit quite well!! I wore it yesterday and got asked for the first time if I had lost weight. Guess clothes that fit make a difference;) I went and ordered four more size 28 shirts. If they fit too, I am going to purge most of those size 34 and higher and never look back! I am trying to get below 60 BMI for surgery (somewhat a stall right now, but that’s ok - i am staying steady) but I am really enjoying this victory!!!

    Huge financial NSV

So, I started my journey as a self-pay. Horizon denied me, saying I did not have five years of written proof I've been obese. This was true, as I did what I call a typical "man-move" and hadn't been to the doctor in about ten years, other than for "emergency" type issues, and since I had a PPO, I did not have a regular physician. Anyway, I stayed stubborn and submitted to the insurance company anyway. Slowly they paid some things, and then last week they sent a check for the hospital, which was a nice $13k check!! So I've gone from a 100% self-pay for a $22k procedure to about $1.5k out-of-pocket. Sometimes it pays not to take no for an answer and be persistent. I'm not saying this will happen for everyone, but there is hope.

    Crying

Congrats on your NSV's! You have done great and there's a ton more to come. It sadens me that your boyfriend is so insecure and scared that he can't compliment you to give you the support you deserve! He's acting like a boy, not a man.....It's time to sit him down and have a talk with him about his nonsupportive behavior....This is the time to let that confident woman out and ask for what you need from him, if he can't give it to you, then maybe it's time to reconsider your future with him bc it will just get worst....... Smile you are so beautiful and deserving of nothing but love from all the people around you.....

    Feel Like I'm A Failure

So here's a reality check......You "only lost 15lbs." Your clothes are falling off...... What is the truth here? I believe it's time for you to throw your scale away, or hide it. You are obsessing over a stupid scale and the numbers on it. You have lost so much weight that your clothes are falling off! That to me is success......An NSV as we call it...... I'd rather have my clothes fall off than worry about the numbers. You are doing great....... The #'s on the scale will go down and you are going to be so pleased with yourself. Yes, you are depressed and it would be highly beneficial to see your doctor and perhaps he can prescribe something to help you with the depression. Not a big deal..... Hang in there and rant away when ever you need to. We are here to help you.

    rollercoasters????

We just came back from Disney and I rode all the coasters with absolutely no problem! That was a great NSV moment for me because I didn't 'just barely fit'...I fit comfortably! First time in 17 years that I've been able to ride the coasters! Woot! I was a bit worried about those that had restraints that went over the shoulders, fearing the bottom part would push against my port, but they were all fine. Enjoy! .

    NSV

My weight is slowly coming down also. and that is a good thing. that means it will stay off permanently. i really like the NSV more than the scale. You can actually see the difference instead of depending on a number. I hope everyone continues to look up!

This Has To Be My Favorite Nsv

    Two years ago today.....

@@Kindle, How did I miss this post earlier this month? Thank you for the update on your progress. I always enjoy your posts. I am sorry for your losses in your brother and best friend. Perhaps the pain will lessen in time? But kudos on your NSV in not turning to alcohol and food to deal with the pain. I hope 2016 will be a good year for you.
  16. HI friends I just realized another NSV while I was driving the car today .... I could actually tilt the wheel down!! AND I had to slide the seat up!!! Seems all the cushion I've lost off my rear was holding me up and pushing me forward !! LOL OMGOSH Waahoooo!! Just had to share with those who understand !!!
  17. I've traded in my "clean plate club" membership for the "leave at least 4 bites -one for each dog" club. It makes it real easy to stop eating when I'm satisfied instead of continuing until I'm full.
  18. I'm having my surgery tomorrow too! Good luck to everyone! I'm looking forward to this next chapter in my life and reclaiming me! As I did laundry today, all I could think of was I don't need these clothes anymore and how weird it will be not to shop in the Women's dept anymore! How single digit clothes will be my new norm. I was also thinking of what NSV goals I want to set for myself...having a hard time with that one. I haven't let my weight or joint pain stop me (last year I climbed both a waterfall and an inactive volcano). My new motto is "be fearless and fear less!" We've got this!!

    It's thanks to lbt...

Yippeeeee!!! Those are really really really great NSVs!!! ....and congrats on your quick comeback!
  20. I have a couple of NSV's to report and something that happened to me that is surely a direct result of reading posts on LBT... When we were on vacation, there were times when we all wanted to do different things (we were with my in-laws). So one afternoon hubby agreed to drop me off in Lagana (We were in Zakynthos Greece) and take his parents to view some small churches they wanted to see. He gave me an hour and a half and left me with the reassurance that there were plenty of cafes and I could rest whenever I needed to...from the good old days when a trip out was a military campaign..where can we park? where will I be able to sit...will I have to stand for more than a couple of minutes?... I set off criss-crossing the road and browsing the shops. It was a hot afternoon and I thought I'd been going about 20mins and I'd have a break. Then I checked my watch...I'd been up and about for an hour and twenty mins and hadn't noticed. No back pain, no shoulder aches. I felt fine and even better when I realised what I had done...yay for the treadmill! 2nd NSV was yesterday. For the first time in years I did the supermarket shop myself. Wandered around for over an hour, got stuff from trolley at checkout and packed the bags at other end. Might not seem much but felt like a huge achievement for me! Now the other thing...when I was in Lagana it was like being home there were so many English tourists. I am sooo English and have pale skin so no need to guess where I'm from. As I was walking along I heard (in Greek) "Look at how the fat English girl is walking..."laugh, laugh, laugh. I remembered the thread about the lady who had been mooed at in a store and some of the advice...quick as a flash I turned round and in perfect Greek said "Yeah, and look at the stupid Greek donkey with his friends...I can lose these kilos as I choose, tell me please what you are going to do?" His chin was on the floor and his friends were laughing at him..."You understand Greek..."he managed "You managed to work that out by yourself...some Greek animals are better than I thought!!!!" I replied and walked off triumphant. It was empowering...thanks ever so much LBT.

    I'm wearing pantihose again!!!

Way to go on your NSV...if I could ever find panty hose that were big enough for the tummy but not too long I might give them a try again...5'3" 287lbs...no panty hose fit well...maybe I should try now that I'm down 72lbs... I hate them, but I must admit I don't like the look of bare legs and dresses except for cute little casual sun dresses. Keep up the good work those NSV's will make you feel even better than the SV's!!!!
  22. Woo hoo, I've been wanting nice black leather boots for ever and this weekend, I tried a pair on. They slipped right over my formerly very thick calves! Yippee! This is by far the best NSV to date! I might even go get another pair in brown!
  23. So I'm 3 weeks todays and feeling great. I've been a little tired but my energy is coming back. Over the weekend I had my first NSV...or shall I say I had two? I was going out with friends and went shopping for a new outfit....after being in a 22 for so long I can actually fit a 16. I have never worn a 16. When I was this size I was a teenager and I wore mens clothes anyway so I didn't know what a 16 looked like...and now I do!!! And my second NSV...I was the sober driver. I had an ok time...it wasn't really my scene but hanging out with friends and being able to relax and enjoy myself without being intoxicated felt great!!
  24. My best friend of 20 years came to visit me, and I let her take my photo. That is a HUGE NSV for me. I know I am not where I want to be yet, but I was so happy to see my friend, and also I was wearing a size medium top and size 12 jeans.
