    Non-Scale Victories Thread

I tell you that honestly I think the NSV are bigger then the SV are. When other people are noticing your weight loss and are saying something about it that is such a moral booster. When you go to put on those clothes that were tight and now they are loose again another great moral booster. Of course I am still monitoring my blood pressure closely with today being my first day off of the bood pressure meds and it's going great so far. But another NSV is purely the feeling of wanting to get out of the house to be active. This morning my wife, son, and I just went for a walk for the pleasure and not specifically for the exercise!!!

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

I don't know, but I do know that I come up against those brick walls all the time. Every 5-10 lb it seems like I settle in at that certain weight and have to fight for the next loss. Constant plateaus. It's okay.... I'm used to it so I just have to be patient until I drop again. Those are an awful lot of NSVs, though... all the health improvements are remarkable!! ASTOUNDING!! AWESOME!! How much further to goal??

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Howdy Shamrocks! I'm not going to repost the list because I didn't loose this week. I am going to be happy that I didn't gain. I did stick to the plan, so it is slightly frustrating, but that is ok. I had to get on the doctor's scale twice this week and I was down from the last time I had been to see them both times. My goal for 3/25 is to hit between 65 and 75 pounds lost. I even know the goal after that! I know I shouldn't get ahead of myself, but at that point I will be real close to oneunderland. So, moving myself is the goal for the next week. It has been tough. My involuntary exercise is ok, but I need to get back with the program. Walking a few city blocks here and there isn't going to cut it. Congrats Harley on getting back on track. Scrappy, you are an inspriration. Everyone has a tough time at some time. I'm guessin you will be at or very close to your goal by your one year anniversary. Teri - great NSV. I think the NSV's are better than the SV sometimes!

Wow Pete Way to GO! My NSV is that I'm wearing jeans that were to tight and uncomfortable to wear. People are noticing and telling me that they can really see it and that I look healthier!
  8. Well, it was an okay week, a loss is a loss I keep telling myself. I am sure it is going to slow down now. I am down a 1.5 lbs this week. But a I had a great NSV (non scale victory) I had to take a flight to CA on Monday and no need for a safety belt extention!!!! and there was room even better! Good Luck everyone!

Pete, Susan, and FWWAB, Hurray!!! Thanks for posting. I hope others will join in and post. I find so much strength in reading about others successes. I hope others do to. Each of you posted something I wasn't aware of in myself, enableing me to say, hey me too! I made Cookies for my son the other day and didn't have one! (NSV! Bypassing junk food) I am moving about and doing things I haven't done in several years because my foot pain from achilles tendonitis and plantars faciitis is gone (Hey another NSV!) Blood Pressure is a huge one, Pete! I have to check mine I haven't in a few weeks. Though I am not on BP Meds, I know that I had elevated BP in the weeks leading up to the surgery. Great going all of us! and this only gets better! Yippee!

    Twenties NSVs

Ok so I wanted to revive this thread! I had a major NSV last night. Here is a little background at my heaviest I was about 345 so as you can imagine not many guys would flirt or look at me at the bars. Well now I am down about 57 lbs, with alot to go! But I went to a country bar last night. And this really HHOOTT guy was hanging out with my group. Well we talked all night long and I was really flirting with him. And guess what?! He actually flirted back. Now I could get the ok guys to flirt or what not. But this guy was HHOOTT. And wasnt a bum! I was so proud of myself that I didnt act shy and was actually flirting with him. Now I will admit I did have a little bit of help from Alocohol but this was a big step for me. It was totally inspired me today!

Harold - I will be sure to send candies - sugar free of course !!! David - thanks - I'll take any and all inspiration. Honestly, I'm not upset, actually quite happy where I am. I see other NSV's all along (especially clothes) that keep me happy away from the scale. I bust my butt at least 5 days at the gym, eat like a "normal" human being and when I don't, the band is there to remind me. I feel better now than I have in years. I know its just a number, but would like to see myself at overweight, not obese sooner than later....

A silly little NSV for me: I am now more willing to bake treats for my kids.... before I wouldn't bake cookies, etc because I didn't trust myself not to eat too many of them!! The band makes me less susceptible to undisciplined eating so I'm not worried about that and can be the sort of mom that bakes cookies or brownies for the kids. I can now also walk past the treats at work pretty effortlessly. Man, I love this!!

Congrats Fran on your NSV! For me my first NSV was the clothes also. I won't go into it to much since I did post about it already but to sum it up my clothes are getting big on me and my belts are even on their last notches. I have to say my second NSV is happening right now. It looks like I will get to stop taking one of my blood pressure medications. My blood pressure is going down!!! Woohoo!!!

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Well, I'm back from my Vegas trip and I'm up about 2 pounds, not bad considering I'd have gained 3 times that before being banded. I'm hoping for tomorrow's weigh-in to be down some, I'm sure at least part of it is Water weight. I need to get back in the habit of doing my treadmill, I have good intentions of starting tonite when I get home from work, but we shall see since I still need to get caught up on some sleep....lol. I had an NSV while there, my son and his wife met us there and spent 1 day with us. I haven't seen my son since XMAS a year ago before I had surgery and when he first saw me he said "Holy crap, deja vu 17 years ago", then he gave me a big hug and said "Wow I can even put my arms all the way around you now". That made me feel good, down 90 pounds since I saw him.

Anyone interested in sharing their NSVs? I for one would find encouragement and be excited to hear about everyones NSVs. I know these have been posted in other threads but if we have them all in one place it will be easier to find them at those moments when we need a bit of encouragement to stay on track. I will start... Today, I was meeting a client and wanted to look better than my normal casual self. On a whim, I took a blouse out of the closet that I last wore in January 2002. It fit! It was even on the loose side! I couldn't believe it!!! Yipee!
  17. I think I lost 11 lbs before my first fill but I cannot remember how much I lost between my first and second. My weight loss was never dramatic but it sure was satisfying for me. And after 10 months of eating much, much less (thanks to the band) and much more carefully, I was at my goal. I weighed 145 and my total weight loss was about 50 - 55 lbs. I was very content with that. I think that I was thrilled by my relatively slow weight loss because of a few factors: 1) until I got the band I had been gaining 2) the only times I was weighed was during my visits to TLBC or my doc. This meant that I wasn't obsessing about weight gain/loss on a day to day basis. Whenever I was weighed, the loss was a wonderful surprise for me. Oh, and 3) I did receive a lot of positive feedback throughout the process of losing weight. Those NSVs are important to a grrl, eh. Since then I have lost a lot more weight but this has been due to cancer. My band is currently defilled but my appetite is returning and I am thinking that I am going to need filling up fairly soon.

Things are going well, I think, back in The Program. I think I've had enough to eat protein-wise; I'm about to go shopping to replenish the pantry with my In the Program staples. Although, gosh, I'm not sure that I can remember what they were! I had a good/bad NSV last night - I'd been saving a pair of corduroys for when I could fit in them; I tried them on and they completely ballooned around me. I liked them, and they're useless! OTOH, they're useless because I'm too thin for them... So, like, boo! And: YAY!

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

Great NSV Renewed! You and Whosya are kicking butt on the challenge! I can relate to the all or nothing mentality. When I'm doing good, I am sooooo focused and dedicated. But if I "fall off the wagon" it's all over....I really need to work on that because we can't be perfect all the time, it's just not possible. If I run today, it probably won't be very far. My foot has been bothering me since yesterday. It's probably because I went from not running at all, to doing 4 miles a day. I'll just have to see later. Have a great ya'll!

Potatie- fantastic job!!!! Can't wait until I get to post a century mark!!!! I am not having any reflux issues... can't really offer any advise, hope you guys feel better. I think that it is fantastic that a few of you have been able to put away the cpap machines!!!!! How wonderful for you!!! What a NSV!!!! On another note... My DH asked me today how much weight I gained since Thanksgiving, as of today my answer is NONE. However, when he got on the scale he has gained 8 pounds!!!!:thumbup::lol::cool2::tt2: I know... pretty childish, but I have never had this happen before, and he was a little upset!!!!!

Renewed... Great NSV! I'd say you lost no ground! Of course its going to be harder, you haven't run consistently in a long time (end of Oct I think). But look what you have accomplished. Most people who've had PS take months and months to recover, let alone bounce back to exercise in the time you have! I'm in awe of your progress! Its healthy to not be all or nothing all the time. Falling off the regiment makes you more approachable, more human... LOL! Lyn... Did you get my positive thoughts and prayers today? How'd the interview go? It was funny, I was in the middle of a meeting when my Blackberry buzzed my reminder. So when I discreetly looked at it, a little smile came to my face, and I sent my thoughts and prayers... kind of made my meeting! LOL.

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

I really am all or nothing. That is why cahllenges like this help me so much, because if you can just give me a good reason to do something I am all on it. I have a NSV. After my run tonight I decided to see how it compared to my last 5 mile run prior to PS. I wanted to see how much I need to improve before I am at my prerace condition. Here are my numbers Run Date 10/09/08 1/06/09 Distance 5.02 miles 5.01 miles Time 53 min 10 sec 53 min 11 sec Avg Mile 10 min 34 sec 10 min 36 sec Cal Burn 646 644 How cool is that. I guess I didn't lose much ground during my recovery. I must say, however, it seems much harder now than before. Tonight i grilled salmon and made a most yummy salad for supper. It was wonderful. Now if I could only be my "all" self all of the time. I guess I will just enjoy it while it lasts.

Good thing I didn't think of that while on liquids. Bea- Margarita. That would be my solution! JK but if you want and old family remedy... I think my grandma got sauced on Brandy before bed lol Dang this threads hard to keep up with. I dunno how I am gonna continue to work 50 hours a week and keep up with this thread lol
