    Low BMI Surgery

I’m “low BMI” 5 weeks post op. I would say yes, compared to others who are not categorized as “low”, my weight is definitely coming off slower. That said it seems to be somewhat consistent. It slowed to a crawl during week three but never officially stalled. At that point I was losing .2 pounds every day or every other day. now I seem to be losing about .2-.4 pounds a day at this rate. My BMI is already back down to a 27. I’m not dissatisfied with my progress until I start comparing my stats with others losing 10 pounds a week. I’m wanting to lose 60 pounds. I have already lost over a third of my excess weight and I’m only a month and a week out.
  2. I had a VSG in May 2018, so about 10 months ago. My weight loss has slowed significantly since December. Is the honeymoon period over, or could this be a stall?

    Just had surgery

Just had my surgery March 20. I had regards last night like you this liquid diet is getting me. It gets better with time. I take a sip of water every 10 minutes. Even if it's walking in place at your bedside that's a start. Good luck.[emoji890]️[emoji890]️[emoji890]️ Sent from my Moto E (4) using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. By jan 11 I mean I had surgery on Jan 11 of 2019! I lost 20 pounds the first 2 weeks!
  5. I was in the hospital two nights. One the day of surgery and the following night as well. I had zero pain at all. No, you can't lift more than 10 pounds for 6 weeks post-surgery.
  6. I have survived week 1 of the pre OP diet and 1 week to go. I have lost 10 lbs but stalled the last 2 days. I was hoping to lose more weight and go into this with a bang. Still hoping! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    April 2019 Surgeries!

I know the feeling. I passed on birthday cake last weekend! That's my weakness. My pre-op diet starts next Thursday the 4th if all goes well at my appt on the 3rd. I haven't been really successful losing a bunch of weight. I only managed to lose about 8 lbs but am fearing I'll show a gain because I'm being graced with monthy water weight next week. About 10 lbs ever month like clockwork. Goes away a few days later. [emoji45] Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. @AEdoesRnY Welcome! I'm not currently doing IF because I'm trying to find my maintenance sweet spot. But I love that I have it in my back pocket for if or when (ok, realistically, it's when not if) I start to regain. (For the record I'm ok with some regain, as long as it's in the right places) My favorite things about IF - Decreased hunger - I've never felt so in control as when I was actively doing IF. I did 18:6 or 20:4 for the most part. I'm not naturally a breakfast eater, so I just pushed my first meal back as far as possible, some days that was 10 am, some days it was 4 pm, and either was fine by me. Then after my evening meal, I just tried not to snack. Or if I did need to eat something, I just made sure it was super low cal, like cucumbers, or jerky. The longer and more consistently I did IF, the easier it became. I was natural to reach for a drink vs. something to eat. Pushing my first meal later and later became easier. For the most part, I was truly not hungry, even though I might be spending 20 hrs of my day not eating. - Flexibility - If one day IF just isn't possible, due to schedule, or hunger, or whatever, that's perfectly fine. Nothing is ruined, you didn't fail, you just didn't do IF that day, no big deal. This is an incredibly freeing concept for me. I mean if you are on a low carb diet and you eat a bowl of pasta, you feel like a failure, right? I don't see IF like that at all. I mean some versions of IF are high/low days (like 5:2), so if you eat during a longer window, or you made some not great choices, that's just a high day, right? Ok, that's my IF soapbox, thanks for listening!

    April 2019 Surgeries!

I'll admit I eased in to the first day (had to have that last Whataburger sausage egg and cheese on a Jalapeno cheddar biscuit . . . ), but it has been all liquid since then. Surprisingly very little hunger (though I am feeling a little right now), and no cravings two days in. The struggle will be really intense tonight (Wednesdays have been fajita night for me and the family for almost 10 years), and next week will be another challenge because I have to travel next week even before surgery. I think I have now seen 4 of us on the 4th and 5 on the 3rd. Surgery will be upon us sooner than we think!

Eating for the first time did NOT go well!

My surgery was 2/12. I am in the soft food stage. I tried an egg on the first day I started soft foods ( I wanted to die). My main protein sources are ground chicken, ground turkey, fish and yogurt plus my every day 4 oz protein shake. When I started the soft food stage I was so excited to eat something not liquid and purée, but I still have days I would not mind it again. I can eat 1/4 c of what ever I’m eating. I am cleared to start eating raw fruit and veggies. I had a slice of seedless cucumber yesterday and it went well. Today I will have a cherry tomato with my lunch. Just keep trying. My nutritionist has a great rule that I have used. When you eat something and it upsets you or causes the day long “ I want to die “ feeling the next day go back to a few protein shakes and full liquids. I’ve used it now 2 times in 2 weeks it helped. Everyday is a new lesson we learn with our new stomach. RNY. 2/12/19 HW: 474 (5/16) ST: 412(4/18) SW:308 (2/19) CW: 272 (3/27)

    Puree options limited please help

I honestly don't get the angst of your post in looking at your selections? I'm so sorry. I would truly encourage you to start working on reframing your reality and doing head work to work through the grief you are clearly feeling about the changes you chose to make to your body and how that is going to affect your eating. You don't see this now, but a year from now when you are 50-100lbs lighter, your life will be TOTALLY different! I promise. You will be able to feel how fortunate this is! I sometimes think surgeon's give you these limits not only to protect your new anatomy (you can do serious damage by challenging it too early), but also because they want us to break the cycle of using food for in a disordered pattern and putting too much importance on meal variability and too much on "food being good/yummy/comforty." In this early time you have the opportunity to lose THE MOST WEIGHT IN A MONTH you will lose in all of your WLS history. We lose the most weight in the first 2 months following surgery. So please please embrace this time. I swear, it gets SO much better if you relax into it, keep it simple, measure and log everything, but just keep it simple. You know? Keep it low low cal/meet your protein goals/keep carbs and crap out of it. I didn't have to do puree. I had to do soft foods that were chewed to puree. But here are things that would fit your reqs. All you have to do is put em in a food processor (mini chopper) and bam you're there. 1. Eggface Ricotta Bake (google it) 2. Green bean casserole (bariatric style) with canned chicken 3. Tuna casserole (bariatric style) with green beans instead of peas 4. Mexican beef with cheese or beans with cheese (too carby for me--made me hungry too soon after eating) 5. Broccoli, spinach or cauliflower pureed with light cream cheese, lemon juice, s/p/g (steam the crap out of it first) 6. Smashed cauliflower with bacon and green onions (put in a food processor) 7,. Any soup or chili made bariatric style 8. Fish in foil pouches with lemon and spices/herbs. 9. zucchini sauteed with onion, tomatoes and herbs and pureed--can add any kind of lean meat. 10. yogurt/cottage cheese blends with berries. I just ate the same things all the time in rotation usually. And the time went by quickly. Hang in there. The time does pass quickly.

I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)

So this is my weight loss journey start 12/01/17. I’ve lost a total of 80 lbs all together and 7lbs of that since I’ve had the surgery on 03/20/2019. I’m going to continue to work hard once I can.
  17. I looked at the receipt and 7900. I think DC is expensive as is my PS. Maybe I need to go to Kansas!! Scars... I had arm lift Sept of 2018 and after 10 weeks in compression have kept tsilicon tape on them to flatten and provide 100 percent sun block. The scars are well placed and less noticeable. Still tender to touch finally consider laser scar treatment as an option - effective within a 6 month window. I rejected this option as my arm skin is so thin. I did not pursue it after the procedure as I am pleased with the scar progress Now it is at that 6 month mark and less effective. It helped knowing it was an option. Plus for me scars are jut a part of my journey!!! Still no need not to keep it minimal. Whew - long post.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

yes! I had a terrible taste in the back of my throat and horrible breath. At first I thought it was a sign of ketosis, but I read somewhere that it could be a sign of dehydration. So I upped my water intake, supplemented with some G2 Gatorade for electrolytes, and it magically went away. Of course, I can’t tell you for sure if the fluids helped or if it just went away over time. VSG 2/13/19

    February Sleevers - Help!

you've lost 27 pounds in 3 weeks? I don't see the problem! Also I was sleeved on 2/8 (almost 3 weeks before you) and I'm down 35 pounds. I did have a 10 day at the beginning of week 3!

    March 2019 sleepers

I was sleeved March 18 2019 and so far so good. I'm 8 days post op today.. The only complaint I have thus far was the unbearable pain I was experiencing due to lack of BM. I took a laxative so I feel better but I'm just curious if this has happened to anyone else.
