This Pre-Op diet is the pits.
Pillar2butterfly replied to JapGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Pre op was tough the first 2 (out of 7) days. I only ate Greek yogurt,SF Jello, SF pudding, Protein shakes, broths, and strained creamy Soups. After the third day, it got better. -
Eating too little? Not losing weight...
Madmax68 replied to becca1281's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@becca1281 I have a new favourite Protein shake. I mix one danactive yogurt drink, a scoop of vanilla Protein Powder and three quarters of a cup of fresh orange juice together with ice and blend it - it tastes like a creamsicle. So yummy! Not sure why the site is putting links to my protein mentions (I'm not recommending any single brand of protein) -

What can I do with...cottage cheese?
SnOwCrAsHeD replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
I mix it with non-fat, high protein, greek yogurt and never looked back! Otherwise I could not eat it without black pepper when plain. -
I'm 5 days post op and just starting to feel hungry which is kind of freaking me out. I have had 72g protein and 41g carbs = 522 calories (2 protein shakes and 1 Greek yogurt) I'm sipping crystal light thinking it is head hunger but it doesn't feel like it. Did your hunger go away? I'm scared that my sleeve isn't working.

Used to be a big milk drinker, especially when it was in a big bowl of cereal! I grew up with it and never considered it as a bad food unless I was drinking whole milk or eating a half gallon of ice cream. I made the switch to Almond milk a few years back because it was a healthy alternative and it tasted pretty darn good. Since surgery, I haven't had as much, but I still make two-three almond milk Protein shakes a week. I do eat Greek yogurt and that helps with my Calcium intake. Post surgery I really don't have the milk cravings I did prior to it. Good luck

1st phase post op
scoots replied to princess of Monaco's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mashed potatoes are not anywhere on my list for any of the phases after surgery because they contain no protein and are slider foods. Something like Greek yogurt would take away that hungry feeling and keep you full. -
Milk: the Reason I Look Like a Heifer?
MichiganChic replied to careya123's topic in Food and Nutrition
I used to drink a lot of milk before surgery. I'll never forget the day the dietician said, in her sweet little voice, "we don't drink milk after surgery". I was aghast, lol. Just couldn't fathom that, and I was an expert dieter. It's allowed on weight watchers, counting calories, etc. So, being a good citizen, I gave it up. I eat plenty of cheese and yogurt, still. I never thought I could do it, but it was easier than I thought, and I don't miss it like I thought I would. And it does go with lots of stuff I don't eat anymore, and I can't eat or drink together, so it was pretty much engineered right out of my diet. -
I don't know that particular product, but I take a probiotic from costco every day. Also supplement with a psylium capsule twice a day. And remember, you can get probiotics from Greek yogurt too. It's a great afternoon snack.

Milk: the Reason I Look Like a Heifer?
CowgirlJane replied to careya123's topic in Food and Nutrition
I think different people are more sugar and carb sensitive. I was raised drinking large quantities of milk and am fairly convinced it was one of many factors leading to my heifer like weight class. Even more so if combined with Cereal or Cookies or whatever. I do eat yogurt, cheese etc. -
You may want to ask for the liquid version at first. I tried crushing my meds and taking them with yogurt, water, anything really, and I just couldn't get them down. The taste/texture was awful and I would just gag. Finally at 2 months out I can tolerate my meds split in half, but they do still get stuck sometimes.

I'm only 5 days post op and on full liquids but my NUT has never said anything about a calorie goal... Just carbs, protein, fluids. Right now I'm having a protein shake for breakfast, light and fit Greek yogurt for lunch, and another shake for dinner. This is about 500 calories and meets my carbs under 50g and 60-80 protein rules. I feel like as long as I'm focused on low carbs/high protein calories don't matter too much. I can't imagine that it's possible to even consume many calories on 60-80g protein and less than 50g carbs.

Milk: the Reason I Look Like a Heifer?
VSGAnn2014 replied to careya123's topic in Food and Nutrition
I didn't think that milk slowed down my weight loss. But I usually drank only one glass of skim milk each day -- rarely, I drank two glasses a day. I also still eat / ate a lot of cheese (full-fat) and was a big fan of Greek yogurt during my weight-losing phases. As a matter of fact, I'm eating a Dannon Oikos vanilla greek yogurt right now. I always thought heifers were very cute animals -- quite attractive! -
What is a "Slider" food
Rogofulm commented on kulita's blog entry in Kulita's gathered information & help
Thanks very much for this post, @kulita! Since you've researched this, I have a follow-up question... What about non-carb soft foods like yogurt and guacamole? Do they also have the slider effect even though they are protein-based? -
Just wondering what's everyone's story and starting weight was?
nicky2221 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know you should never ask people how much they weigh,I for one would be angry if I got asked that anywhere else but this site...I feel comfortable enough to talk about it with you guys anyone else feel comfortable enough to share their weight? I'm 5"6 and my heaviest was 21stone but got down to 19 then went to see my doctor to see if I could have a sleeve as I have problems with my back..he said he would send me to see a surgeon! From then I lost a further 14 pounds he then put me through for surgery on the 1st of March then a week ago I had a call to say he has a space for the 16 th and I had to start my pre op diet right away which was 1 pint of milk... Up to 8 yogurts and water for 2 weeks,I'm now a week in and weight is 17st13pounds 1 more week to go :-) -
Here is my 1 month pics I lost 18 lbs, and 36 inches, you can see it the most on my stomach and my face. I still have liquid protein, and i have mashed potato, carrot, and Rutabega so far. I also have chicken, ribs, turkey. Just small amounts. I try to limit to 2 tbs of meat and 2 tbs of mashed veggie. I try really had to have water, Im still not even to 20 oz yet. But I don't constantly sip. Its hard especially when you go to stop 30 mins before and not have to drink 30 mins after for each meal you want to have. its hard to fit it all in. I get about 60 protein, and thats with 2 shakes and some meat. I still have yogurt and pudding still. I also can have a few fries, and had yam fries. And haven gravy. I find it hard now cuz when I eat I like to take more then 1 bite, and the food gets cold because you can't eat at a normal pace. I need to get used to one bite, chew swallow, wait a minute then take another. When I get full, I have a heavy chest feeling. and i just take a sip of a drink to help wash it down. My incisions have closed up, still red but healing Its been a good month. I want mac and cheese and pop!

Soft foods phase
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Erossi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What are you eating that you are bored with? When I was on soft foods I ate a lot of cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, refried Beans, tuna, grilled salmon, as well as a lot of the liquids and foods from my previous stages which you may think is boring. Check out the World According to Eggface for recipe ideas. -
Anyone have RNY on 01-18-16
Newlife4nita replied to Lyndzee104's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes. Unfortunately I have never liked yogurt. I tried pudding but it doesn't agree with me. -
Night time was my downfall. I have to get up every couple of hours to stretch my back and would just "graze". I moved my bedroom upstairs away from the kitchen. I also take a Greek yogurt to bed with me along with a glass of crystal light. If you're up and about, come onto this site. If I'm not here, there is usually some other night owl to chat with... Calling all February 1st Sleevers!
prettyCali916 replied to arenea's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm pretty sure I can. Although my focus will be on fish and Greek yogurt during that phase. I'll be mixing the syntrax protein powder into the Greek yogurt so hopefully it tastes good! -

Is yogurt a no-go for you also? -
LOve that we are all helping each other. Try the oikos triple zero. It has zero calories zero sugar and zero fat. 15 grams of Protein and the GENEPRO should up your protein. You can also blend the yogurt with your protein and add a splash of milk to make it easier to go down.
