Week 14 Last week’s weight – 207 This week’s weight – 205.2 Total weight lost this week – 1.8 lbs Total weight loss since surgery – 41 lbs Average weekly weight loss since surgery – 2.4 lbs per week Happy to write that I broke the 40 lb mark this week and I am closer to my goal of being under 200 lbs by the time we head back to school in August. I’ve been walking pretty consistently every morning (3 miles) but now that I am in a normal summer routine boredom has kicked in a bit (which equals eating more for me). I am going to have to watch that in the coming weeks. I’ve started making green smoothies in the morning with kale, bananas, and mixed berries (plus other stuff). I actually don’t mind the taste and feel that I am getting some healthy items in my diet (not that I am eating unhealthy but it is nice to know that I am getting a decent amount of fruits and veggies in one serving). My Non Scale Victory (NSV) this week was fitting into a bathing suit top that I haven’t worn for years (but I spent a lot of money on and didn’t want to give it away – miracle suit top $$$ in size 18W). My Lands End 22W suit is way too baggy now. Until next week!

WTG Lissa! Those fitness NSV's are the ones that are really helping us. So much more than just the weight loss. Keep up the great work!!

So, I did 35 minutes on the elliptical this morning!! A month ago I couldn't do 3 minutes without feeling like I was going to die! Go Me!!! I've been working my way up to this, 5 minutes to start, then adding 30 seconds a day. Today I decided to push it and I was amazed by the results!!

Jodie, that must be too cool wearing one of those short skirts. If I were 20 years younger, I'd give it a shot. Great NSVs.

:laugh :laugh :laugh wow, ican't believe it. although my weight isn't necessarily doing much, my bod is changing heaps. I have just been on a trip to alice springs where i finally had access to clothes, full length mirrors etc and discovered i am now size 16! I stared out as 22/24. Woohoo! It was my goal to be a 16 by new years, but I might even make it to a 14. I bought a short denim skirt and some togs yay... Over the past two weeks I have moved my watch band hole up two holes. i started at the last hole and am now on the fourth hole out of eight. It is so amazing and i still can't comprehend it. The best thing that has happened is that a co-worker didn't recognise me when i was getting out of the car at her place. She said it was really weird, as she knew the car but couldn't figure out who was getting out of it because i have changed so much. her exact words were "i thought you were 'a slim person' not good ol' Jode" She was nearly as excited about it as me! The best part of it is is that she sees me every day.

Jodie Its a great feeling isn't it. I just pruchased my first Large size shirt. All my xxl and most of my xl clothes have already been given to the church. Went from 48 size pants to 42. I have also gone from eee wide shoes to ee. Never figured I'd lose weight in my feet LOL I went on Tuesday for the fisrt time to my family Dr since I had the surgery. He helped me get my insurance approval and hadn't seen me since I pick up the form for the Dr who did my banding. His counter girl who has known me from years of visits looked up and asked me my name LOL. I was shock when she did it as she never has done that before. When I told her my last name I beamed when she looked up very very wided eyes and started to say how sorry she was she didn't recognize me. LOL LOL I told her I was glad she didn't. On way home from Dr I stopped at the store to pick up some groceries and dog food. As I was walking from the car to the house with the dog food on my shoulder I though. "Oh my this is heavy and hard to get up the staris with the 40 pound bag. then it struck me thet if I added 30 more pounds to it that wold equal my weight loss. How did I ever survive carrying all that weight. I now believe that the NSV's are more exciting then the scale readings. I have lost only 1 pound in the last three weeks. But I lost inch off waist 1 1/2 off hips and 1/2 off neck in that time period.

It's funny that getting your period is a NSV....but I agree it would be. Having irregular periods since my mid twenties, a little regularity in that department would be good. Thanks for the post. It's all the little things that make it worthwhile.

How's this for an NSV
reverie replied to J in Vermont's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats!! I remember that moment too; not in the gym but out of the shower. Exciting but a silly NSV! -

I'm kinda confused. What do you mean they categorized you? Like, they diagnosed you and it's in your chart now? I'm not sure why she'd call to inform you of that instead of just having told you at the physical, but I'm also not sure why it's insulting. I've got a diagnosis code of morbidly obese on my file, I'm sure. Because I am right now =p Someday that diagnosis will be off my record, but that day is not today. Just one more NSV I get to list when I get there I guess. Technically by BMI charts you are obese if your BMI is 42.6. Keep your head up though - this is the beginning - you're getting a chance to make a change in that =)

Bandster hell? NSV? Green Zone? I'm not in Oz anymore!
kll724 replied to flrosie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
All of the above. To more explain NSV- it is when you accomplish something that was impossible before loss of weight through banding!IE: fitting into smaller size, not having to have extension on seatbelts, being able to tie your own shoes, painting your own toe nails, get the idea! Best wishes to you and all newbees! Karen, 3 1/2 years! -
I cannot be the only one that absolutely hates the “small bathroom stalls”…..You know the ones where you have to straddle the toilet to open the door and when you sit down your thighs and arms hit the side…..Well yesterday, I had to use the “small stall”….I started to sweat and was over come with panic as i entered... Then I sat down…WOW what the hell, I had enough Room!!!! WOW for NSV!! I love my sleeve, today anyway….

Bathroom Stalls~NSV
BlessedBeyondMeasure2012 replied to GoldyGirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I thought I was the only one that felt this way about those stupid little stalls! There is actually a chair in our office that I avoid sitting in because the arms of it dig into my legs and hurt. I sat in it yesterday and not only did it NOT hurt, I FIT!! lol! Yay for NSV's! -
ok you ladies some of you may relate... this happens to me once in a blue moon when things fall into place (or the wrong place) anyhow...after ending my last LTR i moved in with my parents to focus on my bills off. my father has never grasped the whole put the toilet seat down after you pee thing. lastnight i woke up in the middle of the night and had to pee, so i stumble, fumble downstairs to the bathroom and go to pee and SPLASH when i went to sit down the toilet seat had been left up ( ) and i fell in!!!! and i mean IN!!! my butt hit WATER!!! :eek :eek :eek so my butt is no longer wider than the toilet...that WOKE me up!!! thank god my dad can atleast flush... he has his own bathroom too! just cause mine is closer to the family room it kinda makes it the 'guest bathroom'. so theres a NSV (non scale victory) i could have lived without!!! michelle

You won't believe this NSV
JamieLogical replied to gowalking's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Glad you are feeling better and I can completely see how you would consider it an NSV. I had a similar experience when I was in a car accident in December. Wasn't self-conscious about my weight when bystanders and EMTs tended to me. -
Woohoo! Great NSV! Happy New Year ,and new job, and new you!

Let's all dance! This is a great NSV!

I LOVE MY SLEEVE! Tonight I completed a 5K in 39 minutes! This is a major accomplishment for me. Before being sleeved it hurt to walk across campus at my school. This evening I ran a good 2.5 miles without walking or stopping AND I was chatting. My pace wasn't anything to brag about, but I DID IT! I have lost 62 pounds and I have quite more to go, but my body is capable of so much more than I ever believed. I registered for two 5Ks and I plan on running the tinkerbell half marathon in January. I can't believe that these events are even possible. Thank you to those who have offered guidance and answered my questions recently. My sleeve and the VST community are awesome. I'm in week two of a stall and that has gotten me down, but HOLY COW I did an awesome job this evening!
