    What is the recovery time?

    What does it feel like?

When my stomach doesn't like something, it feels like it is coming up my throat. I feel a little hot, my heart beats faster, and my chest gets red when I eat sugar, however when I eat oils, fats, cheeses, or anything else remotely unhealthy I just feel like the food is sitting right in the middle of my throat and slowly working its way back out my mouth. Then I puke and feel better. Also, sometimes with dense Protein my throat starts to slime...thick, gooey, clear slime that coats the food and makes you barf. At 5 weeks out you're close to being healed, so soon you will be able to have a better idea of what works for you and what doesn't.

    Who Else Is Not Losing?

Was sleeve 10/16 and think I'm coming out of my SECOND stall already. Was stuck at 217 for almost two weeks about 5 weeks post op...got down to 210 and have hung around that for a week and am now finally dropped down to 209. From what I've read, when your body hits 10-15% losses, it plateaus...trying to hang onto your weight....because it thinks you're going to starve. It's frustrating but completely normal. As Laura said, keep an eye on your Water intake, change up your exercise and even change up your food. For me, it's hard to have a regular BM without a laxative still...and I ONLY weigh myself after a BM now. Sometimes it's 2-3 days. But something else I've tried is to get my Protein in EARLY in the day and then focus of veggies (aka fiber!) for my final meal or snack of the day. That seems to help my body get out of the plateau too.

    Loose skin?

Also down 80 lbs just experienced bathing suit vacation and EVERYTHING is wiggly giggly if it wasn't for my excitement at losing the weight and the confidence of that I wouldn't leave the hotel. Quite eye opening as to how fat I was, but Was is the defining factor. So I enjoyed wearing 3 different bathing suit for the fist time in many years #ROCK-ON
  7. I AM SLEEVED!! So I was here at 6:00 am this morning. Went in for surgery at 7:30 and woke up SLEEVED about 10:30. My surgeon came in just a bit ago and said my stomach wall wasn't too thick from the band. He also said I will be on Clear liquids about 2 weeks and not to push it because the area of the stomach at the top where the band was will end a little more time. I'm not In too much pain, no nausea. I guess that $130 pill worked. And I AM SLEEVED! Sent from my SM-T537V using the BariatricPal App

    Roller coasters?

My doctor told me at my 1 week appointment that I was fine to do activities as I felt comfortable. She specifically mentioned roller coasters. She did say no swimming though due to infection risk. I say DO IT and enjoy yourself!!!

    Low Energy

Congrats on your surgery! For some of us, it takes ages to get our energy levels up again while others seemingly are bouncing about after a week. I took things slowly, paced myself through each stage of being more active & kept hydralite on hand for sudden energy drops. Most importantly, if my body said enough I stopped. It will get better.

    New to bariatric pal

Keep to the program and work on your water intake. Track your intake of everything even if it's on the nono list. It'll help you determine if/where you are going wrong. Stall are going to happen and so is weight gain. There are a lot of determining factors so don't think you are failing. Most of all be patient, that was my hardest struggle and at times still is. Stay positive mentally and Best To You!!!!
  12. I am about 3 months post op revision from band to sleeve, male 6"1 and have dropped from 226 to 189.. All has been going fine and well but feel like i have reached a stall in weight reduction. Feel like im getting more hungrier and im craving sweets alot which i thought it would be a thing i would not have to deal with after getting sleeve. Been only eating one solid meal a day but i have protein shakes for breakfast and lunch because food seems to get sorta stuck and i get a nausea feeling when i eat certain solids. Dont know if this is just a phase im going thru or is it something of a huge concern for me. Would like to hear opinions, comments or suggestions from you all.

    Redefining ‘cheat’

Thank you :-) So empathise! Had another one I didn’t give in to the previous week. Drove myself to central Newcastle for a specialist appointment. Wasn’t without tension finding it, parking and getting done what I had to get done and really felt I deserved a ‘reward’. In my consultancy road warrior days used to regularly treat stuff picked up from service stations as somehow lesser calories cos I didn’t have much choice of places to grab food. So nearly swung into the McDonald’s that day, but pictured the nutrition charts and swigged down the drink instead. Starting to trust myself more :-)
  14. I am 9 weeks post op. I gave up protein shakes after 4 weeks when I was allowed to, I'm not a huge milk drinker. I get all of my protein with food. Typically I have 2 eggs for breakfast with turkey sausage. If I don't have that then it's 3/4 of non-fat greek yogurt with 1/4 cup of nuts and 1/4 of berries. Tuna with salad for lunch and some sort of protein with a vegetable for dinner. I'll have 1/4-1/2 cup of fruit after lunch. I'm not a big snacker but I'm fortunate that I can 4 ounces of protein typically so I don't need to snack. I usually come in at 650-750 a day.
  15. So I got a call last week and it was my surgeons nurse saying that my surgery is scheduled for the 17th - At the moment I'm happy but not excited, it's kinda like he's basically told me that I've won $5 in a raffle you know lol but I know as the date gets closer I'll be more nervous. It's kind of annoying though, my hospital has basically been screwing me around since december last year but because I'm not paying for anything to do with surgery I felt like I couldn't say anything otherwise they'd say "hey your bitching too much, we're not gonna do it" lol. But the other annoying part is I haven't done anything really like to do with friends or anything and a friend of mine's wedding is on the 14th so that's kind of annoying and then my 21st in on the 23rd soo yeah that's a bummer - not that I would of have a huge celebration anyway but still it kinda sucks lol. So I told my family that I'm going to turn 20 again this year and turn 21 next year - It'll just make things easier. So who else is scheduled for the 17th? :cursing:

    i have a question

I started 2 weeks after surgery. At first I was weighing myself every day or every couple days, but I don't want to get used to that and become obsessed with the scale, so now I only weigh myself on the weekend.

Adjusting to life with the band

The most difficult for me was to realize that I really, TRULY could not eat that big plate of food anymore! I just could not imagine getting full on 1/2 cup of food. But guess what?? It really happens! I'm now 4 weeks out and the swelling has gone down so I can eat more, but I'm getting my first fill tomorrow. I think just adjusting to eating SOOOOO much less yet still feeling full and satisfied was the biggest change for me. I'd often take too much food thinking "this can't POSSIBLY fill me up" and I'd end up putting half of it back in the frig as leftovers! It's sure cut down on our bill when we eat out at a restaurant.....my wife and I now split meals and both come away feeling totally satisfied, not stuffed, and not as broke!!

    any good soup recipes

i was also allowed to eat soups and i made all these ones with organic chicken, asparagus, and baby english spinach blah blah blah, but to be honest, after banding, i really had no appetite, i had to have soups for 3 weeks, and in the end i could not stomach the ones i made, and ended up only having protein shakes, see how your feeling, because i really couldnt stomach any thing heavy or rich in flavour. you will surprise yourself, as to how little to no appetite you will have for the first 2-3 weeks. good luck with your journey. but do a google search for what ever types of soups float your boat. take care and good luck. jo.
  22. Howdy all - I had my third fill on Wednesday, bringing me up to 5.2 ccs. I thought this would be the magic fill when I would get my much needed restriction and begin to escape bandster hell. Wednesday after my fill, I did Clear Liquids only - it was actually a little tough to even get down some of the Water. Yesterday, full liquids. Not much of a challenge and things were going well. Today, I move to mushy foods (yay!) because my tummy was really starting to growl. So, I had some oatmeal. I ate slowly, took me about 20 minutes, and by the time I was about halfway through, I thought - geez, i'm really full. I threw the rest away. 30 minutes later - stomach is growling again. So, here are the questions: 1) does this mean I still haven't reached restriction? I haven't had solid food yet but i'm pretty bummed that my tummy was growling 30 minutes after eating. 2) do you think its because I didn't include carbs? 3) how many fills did it take you to reach restriction? Thanks all!

You can do it! Positive vibes your way on that "liquor"diet you speak of. ( LOL. Just kidding, don't you just love stupid auto correct?) iBut seriously, you can do this. I may need this encouragement in a few weeks when mine gets scheduled... so maybe you can give me some good ideas on what "liquor" tastes best!!! . Sorry, I couldn't help it. LOL. Best of luck hun! ❤️️Amy ❤️️

    Update - Day 5

Glad to hear you are doing well Sarita. I weigh myself 2-3 times a day, and I've done this since getting home. So, for the last 6 months, I've been scale obsessed. For some it works, for others it makes them insane. It works for me, so I do it. You'll see the pounds/kilos drop before you know it. I only had the drain after my leak repair surgery not with my initial revision from band to sleeve. I had the burning sensation as well, but it was remedied by my doctor prescribing Prilosec once daily to prevent an overproduction of acid.

    Cramps

I have noticed my period is much worse since I have had the sleeve surgery. Not sure if it is the estrogen released by the fat loss? Or it could be I always used to take motrin all the time (several times a day) because my knees hurt and now that I have lost some weight my knees are not hurting anymore? Anyway....I have noticed I can just take one tylenol (and I used to take at least two). Does a smaller stomach absorb it quicker or something???? I was told not to take ibuprophen but am going to ask at my 3 month apt. because I see others posting it is ok after it has healed.
