Surgery date scheduled 3/3
GalleyGal replied to brianna265's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm having a band to sleeve revision on the 2nd! It was supposed to be 2/23 but it was rescheduled due to a death in the family this week and the Drs schedule. I'm so excited to get this done! I'm a lower bmi so I only have to do a week on the pre-op diet of Protein shakes and 1 small meal a day until the day before with only liquids. I'm ready to focus on me again and take care of myself. I have a 2 yr old I need to be healthy for! Good luck everyone else! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Need a New Jersey Doctor willing to do revision in one step

sorry I just realized you said in one step. I've talked to my Dr about revision unfortunately he told me it would be a 2 step procedure Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App -
I had the band and was pregnant with it. I recently got revised to the sleeve but while I was preg I had the bad. It was perfectly fine. Didn't have a lot of saline in so I gained a lot of weight. My OB wanted me to get w fill but my old surgeon wouldn't do it and I didn't want it. Otherwise I didn't really feel anything weird bc of band.

lap band revision
CowgirlJane replied to ltoni90's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
There are many of us here who revised. I had the band for 10 years ,never did great with it and had lots of problems. I revised to sleeve in Dec 2011 and have been maintaining 150# weight loss. Best decision EVER. -

Gastric Sleeve Revision Surgery
Dontjudgeme replied to Grek79Ital's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
@@bikerchick519, I teach school. I don't want to get ahead of myself but in my mind I can't see the insurance denying it I hope. I've been complaining about the issue forever and the doctor I saw last week for nutrition said she can't do anything for me until the surgeon fixes what is wrong. She thought my Endoscopy showed that I had real issues but I needed to see her before the surgeon made his next move. I was hoping that the recovery was short, so I wouldn't have to wait until the summer to do something. I'm completely MISERABLE!! I pray and hope that you are approved here in the states with insurance covering the cost. Like the doctor told me last week, you have people who never experience issues and then you have ones who have issues the entire time until they have to get a revision or conversion to a bypass. -
Looking for people who are just starting the bariatric process
carelabra replied to XxStephYxX's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All I have left is the EGD and 2nd Nutritionist appt. Hopefully I will get a surgery date soon. My insurance only requires 2 week pre op liquid diet. Kind of nervous as this is a revision from a gastroplasty from back in the early 90s. -

I am looking to have my banding revised to bypass in next couple months. When I was in shape, about 4 years ago, I used to love long distance road biking, 60 to 100 miles per day. I did have bad days due to my vertical banding, but overall found a sport I really enjoyed. I would like to do this again, after I lose my extra weight, but wondered if anyone that had bypass does the same and have any issues with eating or nutrition they have had. Or do I just plan on keeping my rides to much shorter distances? Thanks

Gastric Sleeve Revision Surgery
Dontjudgeme replied to Grek79Ital's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
@@bikerchick519 I went to the Medical Weight Loss doctor who works inside my Surgeons office and she is recommending that I have a revision to bypass for the heartburn and the constant vomiting. She said there is nothing that she can do on her end until the problems is fix. I go back to the surgeon on 4/19. I'm curious did your doctor tell you the recovery time from a sleeve to bypass? -

Gastric Sleeve Revision Surgery
Grek79Ital replied to Grek79Ital's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am doing extremely well, i was just moved to solids today, i am down from 276 to 242 in a month. i even emailed my doctor to see if i can have a alcoholic drink cause i had a party to goto last night, and he said its fine, just dont go over board, i had one cocktail and i was fine, but its funny, i used to enjoy a cocktail or two, but i was hesitant lol. My insurance approved it rather quickly from the time the office put it in, the office handled it all, after my first surgery the insurance changed the 6 month to 3 months, but i was consistently going to the doctors so they used my reg visits weigh ins as the month requirement diets, also he made me do the minimal doctor visits like i didn't need to see the nutritionist, just had to go see the cardiologist, pulmonary, and get medical clearance, and i just called my psych from last time and she revised my note, this all went rather smooth, probably cause its the same surgeon as who did my original. Good Luck, let me know how it goes. -
Sleeve VS ByPass
futuresupernurse replied to aprilnicole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery lasted a little over 3 hours. I had a revision of a nonadjustable band to a bypass. I chose the bypass because it is tried and true. When I got my band it was the new thing. It really sucked when I began to have issues, bc a lot of surgeons did not know enough about it. -
Revision to sleeve Tuesday. Going to a funeral Thursday.
GalleyGal posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi y'all! I'm so happy I remembered this forum. I was banded back in 2009, I have had pretty good success until the last 6-8 months. I would go days without even keeping water down then one day I could eat anything but back to nothing the next day. I finally was miserable enough to get a consult and my band had slipped. I was unfilled in November when the dr tried to do an egd and couldn't even get the scoop through. Since then I've gained about 20lbs, I knew I would gain some weight going from throwing everything up to actually eating. Luckily my insurance has approved my revision and I have surgery scheduled Tuesday. My grandmother passed away last night and it looks like the funeral is going to be on Thursday. My question is how was your pain 2 days postop? My mom is the only one that knows I'm having surgery and doesn't want me to reschedule since it took so long to get in. I know the added stress of the funeral isn't going to help but I have to be there. Any advice? I'm so ready for the revision and to begin my weight loss journey again. I only have about 35lbs to hit my goal, praying this works. -
I researched this like a crazy person for 9 long months. I suffered from severe Gerd, had diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, anemia, apnea and stage 3 kidney disease. After seeing both my surgeon and my gastroenterologist I went with the bypass. I learned that the sleeve and band can make reflux worse and there are many cases where folks have to revise to bypass anyway. I decided I wanted to only do this once. Both surgeries require Vitamins for life. The RNY bypass is reversible where as once they remove 90% of your stomach the sleeve is not. Both surgeries are equally invasive. I have not regretted having bypass for 1 minute and all of my comorbitities are in complete remission. Do your research, understand how your medical history applies to each and leverage the experts (your doctors). This is a very personal decision. There are some doctors who push one surgery over the other. You need to be in control and understand the risks of each and what you are comfortable with. The best of luck to you!

INTRODUCTIONS - Please tell us all about you & your MGB / OAGB / OmegaLoop Journey
SuzieNewbury7 replied to utahgirll's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
Im am also from adelaide. I am inthe process of deciding between the mgb and the sleeve. I am struggling to decide which is right for me, though my surgeon is suggesting the sleeve as the first step with a revision if weight loss is not sufficent, but he believes it will be who are you going through? My doctor also suggested the same, but i prefered the option of end result.... -
If you were asking me sgc324 -Right now I'm still on soft foods and it takes me about 20 minutes to get down between 1/3-1/2 cup of mush Before the revision I was never really able to eat fast. If i tried I'd get the "idiot pain" (that's what i call it) which is a very tight feeling in my chest almost always followed by vomiting. ...and please fell free to ask anything at all I'm happy to share. ????

NO pre-op diet? How much did you lose?
amyg80 replied to dlfnjgirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My surgeon who has been doing WLS for over 20 yrs and is the director of the Bariatric program doesn't require one if your BMI or weight is under a certain amount. He's the one I did my band to sleeve revision with. Love him and trust him very much. My 1st WLS was the band and I weighed the same I did for my revision and they required one. My sleeve has been much more successful than my band ever was. I'd trust your surgeon. He knows you weight, BMI, etc. he's the one doing the surgery. If you want to get a jump start on weight loss by all means go for it, but otherwise I'd trust what ur surgeon said. -
Looking for Plication revision to Sleeve
Mountaingal replied to lguidry's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Any updates from anyone on revision from plication to sleeve? Though I do not want to do that at the min the subject is of interest. -
I remember taking a PFT back in 2001 before my original surgery. My surgeon at the time said it was to make sure I could handle the anesthesia without being intubated because intubation makes things more complicated. The revision I just had didn't require much pre-op tests just the barium swallow, endoscopy, CBC work up & an EKG. Best of luck on your journey it's so worth it and it works if you work it Sent from my iPhone using BariatricPal
