You have to get that Protein up. Protein helps with healing among other things. What shakes have you tried? Have you tried Premier Protein ready made shakes? Only 11 oz and 30g protein. Highly recommend them. Are you able to eat yogurt? I buy Greek Yogurt (I like Dannon Light & Fit Greek Yogurt - strawberry Cheesecake and Key Lime flavors) and then I mix 1/2 a scoop of vanilla Protein powder (I love the Precision Engineering whey Protein Isolate). That bumps up the protein a lot. Also, if you can have pudding, I sugar free Fat Free chocolate pudding snack and mix 1/2 scoop Of Chocolate Protein Powder. (Again, the Precision Engineering Whey Protein Isolate.) If you can at least eat pureed or soft foods, then there are other options other than shakes.

What kind of foods are ok as soft foods sleeve post-op?
Pescador replied to Johndoe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
As much as I love potatoes I have learned no potatoes, pasta or bread in my house as I cannot resist. I craved things spIcy, so refried beans with a little taco sauce or salsa was great. My husband cured his cravings with broth. I needed more substantial things like yogurt and cottage cheese. It is well over two years since we were sleeved, and his loss has been much more than mine. He refuses to eat any carbs. Good luck!!! -
Go slow, I know there is a real feeling of seeing what you can tolerate early. I know everyone's plan is different, and that some people tolerate things better than others. However, you only get one chance to heal right. No reason to rush it and even chance that something may not go right. If your not supposed to be on soft foods yet, don't test it... Stick with the basics and the first few weeks of restrictions will be past. My other suggestion was to maybe try some yogurts.

On soft foods I was able to do canned tuna, refried beans, eggs, yogurt and such. I never had any trouble tolerating food. -
What kind of foods are ok as soft foods sleeve post-op?
JamieLogical replied to Johndoe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
any kind of seasoning is allowed as long as your stomach can tolerate it. I had no issues with spices almost immediately post-op. Others do experience some sensitivity, so make sure you go easy on the spices until you are sure they don't disagree with you. Also, I would advise against mashed potatoes. There's no protein in potatoes. You should instead eat things like cottage cheese, eggs, refried beans, and yogurt. Those are all high protein foods and getting in your protein as you are healing is critical. -
@@Adtrx3 I started to get some energy back once I was on solid foods and could get more calories in. I pushed hard to try to get above 800 calories a day ASAP. I also pushed hard to get up to 100 grams of protein a day. Had to use protein shakes, greek yogurt, string cheese, eggs, and meat (once I was allowed ground or shredded meat) to do that. It was a challenge for sure!

Protein shakes, Protein Bars, adding unflavored Protein Powder to everything. Or use protein powder of your choice to flavor plain Greek yogurt. That easily gives you 20g in just 1/2 cup. And like Jess, at over 2 years out I still supplement with shakes and bars. 1 shake + 1 Quest bar = 40-50g. Getting another 30-40g from food is easy.

when I have days I struggle, I am 6 months out, I use GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder and add it to yogurt usually, and that helps t get in the protein for the day. 1 scoop of the genepro has 30gms of protein

Do bananas cause you to dump?/leg cramps
bugsy72 replied to bugsy72's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@DDN Yes, my nutritionist said i could try 1/2 a banana at that time because i was having leg cramps, but it didn't go so well, made me sick. But now, 10 weeks out, I can happily enjoy 1/2 banana without a problem. Maybe even work up to a whole banana at some point...i do love them. I have some blueberries in the fridge that i've been wanting to try, but a little fearful. I'm in that "trial and error" stage (maybe it never ends?) where I'm able to try other foods now other than soups and yogurt and cottage cheese. -
Mediterranean Style Eating
Afrikanaaa replied to JupiterinVirgo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was a vegan for about 2 years and vegetarian for a year after that, all leading up to my WLS. (Btw-- I am not a moral veg-eater. I used to eat meat, then got sick, and couldn't eat it anymore.) In getting my sleeve done, my nutritionist and I devised a plan on how I'd be able to get my Protein in / keep the carbs low. I stuck vegetarian. I get my protein from Protein shakes , meatless ground beef (I swear this actually tastes pretty good), Beans, eggs, cheese and Greek yogurt (which I had to build up a tolerance to). I'm getting about 70-80g of protein in daily right now. My nutritionist also has me taking B12 and Vitamin D every other day (so I'm not missing nutrients with my intake). Oddly enough I was willing to attempt red meat / whatever to get my protein in, because I want to be very successful post-op, but when I tried it still made me really sick. ???? -
Calling all February 1st Sleevers!

Hey Arenea! What syntrax are you taking? I have the plain and it is meh too but I think Adina might've had the chocolate truffle and she swears by it. Maybe try that?I have the Caribbean Cooler, it smells great as a powder, but when I mix it with water I can't stand it. It's just weird. So today I bought the Campbell's soup on the go chicken noodle flavor and that worked. I didn't eat the little noodles or carrots although they were very soft, but I did drink the broth. I saw they have chicken tortilla in the drinkable on the go soups too. I saw someone asking, but I'm sure it's not as good as homemade. That's so funny! I bought Campbell's chicken noodle and cooked a whole can, completely drained the broth and had that yesterday. My sweet 16 month old daughter ate most of the noodles, carrots and pieces of chicken. She loved it lol!!! That was the best broth/soup ever!!!! On another note - I am SO over these sickly sweet protein drinks! I am a sweet tooth usually but this is too much! I can't wait for Monday!! I have such great plans for next week involving eggs, Greek yogurt, thick blended soups with chicken! Omg! Grocery shopping on Sunday! -

8 wks post op need help with food question
Johndoe posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 8 days (sorry for the typo on the subject) post op and I have followed my surgeons diet plan to the T but tonight I got so hungry that water or chicken broth wasn't doing it for me. I went out and bought a Dannons light and fit yogurt which is about 6 ounces. And in about 40 minutes I ate all of it. I'm just wondering is this ok or not. I'm freaking out. -
I don't like dairy/eggs/fish! What will I eat?
TiredOfMyself replied to TiredOfMyself's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thanks so much for all the advice. It seems like all anyone talks about are eggs, yogurt and fish, I was getting freaked out at the thought of not being able to eat the "good" foods everyone else is having. I guess it's a stupid fear! -
Anybody else out there finding themselves real, I mean real hungry, very soon after eating? I will be 3 months out on 2/23, and for the past few weeks I find that I am starving, an hour or so after eating. I know most days my Breakfast is yogurt so it's expected, but today I ate scrambled egg for breakfast with tomatoes and Protein, and right now, I feel like I haven't ate all day! I wonder, and hope, it is my metabolism moving faster, but it is scary to think I can fit more food into my little stomach. Anyone else having the same "problem"? Thanks!

I don't like dairy/eggs/fish! What will I eat?
OutsideMatchInside replied to TiredOfMyself's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I really hate eggs after surgery, it is a real roll of the dice if they are okay or if they will make me sick. I don't eat them often. I don't like yogurt, people seem crazy for it and it is all people seem to talk about on weight loss forums and it is just nasty to me and the nutritional value seems worthless, but it easy to eat and has Protein so I see why people like it. When I get tired of fish, I eat deli ham. I like fish because I can eat more of it and easily meet protein goals. Now that I am past 6 months, chicken and beef are much easier to eat than they were at 2-3 months. Now that I am further out I am eating a lot of filet mignon and lamb. Going to add bison in soon. A lot meats that were previously expensive become suddenly affordable when you never eat more than 3-4 oz at a time. -

I don't like dairy/eggs/fish! What will I eat?
AvaFern replied to TiredOfMyself's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
After sleeve surgery, I can't eat any of those things you listed without getting sick. My stomach doesn't like dairy, eggs, yogurt, or fish, lol and I'm just fine. I eat chicken mostly for Protein, sometimes I can tolerate Greek yogurt if it's frozen in a smoothie mixed with almond milk, I don't care about fish that much, and while I do miss eggs, it isn't something I really think about much. I'm 29 months post-op and for the bulk of that time I have had less than a total of 10 servings of all of that stuff combined. I'm at goal and all of my blood values are where they should be, so you'll be fine without any of those things in your diet. -
I got a fill last Thursday 2/4. It was fill of 0.5cc. I'm not sure how much I have in my band but I think it's about 6cc. After I was on liquid and mushy and back on regular food every time I eat I get this loud gurgling and while I'm not stuck it's loud and embarrassing. My restriction is high. I also have a hard time eating before 2-3pm. The morning is really hard even if it's yogurt and Soup with quinoa yesterday was a chore. After about 2-3pm my band gets looser and it's easier to eat. I am losing weight but wondering if this is too tight. I'm writing this after eating some oatmeal and trying not to have the gurgles be too loud for coworkers.

I don't like dairy/eggs/fish! What will I eat?
JamieLogical replied to TiredOfMyself's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
As others have said: chicken, turkey, beef, pork, venison, cheese, nuts, beans.... There are many sources of protein still available to you. I'm 17 months out and rarely eat yogurt anymore (though I admit to relying on it heavily in my early food stages). And I only eat eggs if I am out to eat. Don't keep them in the house because they go bad before I get around to eating them. And I have HATED fish my entire life, though I do eat shellfish. -
Hey there - By no means am I an expert, but I can tell you that on my two-week pre-op diet, I am allowed to have low/non-fat yogurt up to three times/day. Hang in there and try not to panic!!! :-)
