  1. Stalls happen. Frustrating & demoralising at times but part of the process. But you also know you have been going off plan which is hindering your weight loss too. You know what you have to do to get back on track. Remember the benefits of the surgery don’t last forever. Take advantage of them now. Take your lovely puppy for walks. Ditch the carbs. Stick to your plan. Ensure you’re meeting your fluid & protein goals. Check if you’re really hungry or just head hungry. Are you hungry for a specific food or food type? Does it pass if you distract yourself or have something to drink? Real hunger feels different to head hunger. For me I get restless & feel like something is wrong. It doesn’t pass & I don’t crave anything specific. You can do this.
  2. So alot of you are aware I have been in a full on stall for 5 weeks now..ugh.....anyway today or I should say within the last few days I have broke the stall and lost 4.6 lbs FINALLY!!! How many have noticed the inches coming off even tho no weight loss occurred? I have lost alot in my chest area, my bra band was a 46/48 circumference. I am now in a 42. I have noticed the way clothes fit looser and especially my shirts in the bust and some off my belly. I am pleased and thankful for the non scale victories I am starting to see.
  3. I am just coming off a 5 week stall. It was very frustration to say the least. Not a single pound lost in a full 5 weeks.....thats so unreal. I hated it lol. Today I wnt to the Drs office and I was down 4.6 lbs. Ill take it!!! Hang in there

    Blah...my first stall...

Thank God I broke the stall after 5 weeks. It wasnt a big break through (4.6 lbs) but at this point I will take anything. I am soooo hoping my body has broke through and doent stall out again! It drove me bonkers and I felt like such a failure. Ive had a little talk with my inner self and hopefully I just keep on going and doing what I am doing. With any luck I will continue to lose. I think getting my fluids daily is a problem for me. when I drink to get my fluids in then I have a problem eating (too full) and vice versa. I think I need to find a happy median so I can be good on both protein and water.

4 months out and stalled all month!

I think you should continue sticking to your diet plan. Stalls do happen and at times quite irritating especially in the first 6 months when you expect your weight to fly away. I have had slow losing months every other month since the surgery. I stalled about 3 weeks or so too around month 5 where I barely lost 4 or 5 pounds that month. But then weight continued to fly the next month. So, it'll happen as long as you stick to your diet routine. Hope you break the stall soon.

    Started WK 2 and Starving

Mine is Steve, recently promoted from Baby Stevie since he quit being so temperamental those first few weeks.
  7. I recently decided to try out the sous vide function on my Instant Pot, and I'm loving it! It's a great, practically foolproof way to cook chicken breasts perfectly. I'm going to try a steak next week. Spinach artichoke stuffed chicken breast (with side salad) Chicken broccoli roulade

Heading into week two of pre-op clear liquids is killing me today. The idea of any broths makes me nauseated and jello has made me gag since the beginning. I’m trying to hold out for my surgery date Thursday and hoping I somehow miraculously become ok with clear liquids for one week post op diet!

Day 4 of Liquid: Weak and Worried

Hahaha! That was preop eggs. Now... I'm on the 2nd week of liquids which kind of sucks butttt, only 4 days from pureed week so it's definitely worth it! Sending my best of the best wishes to you! I hope you'll keep us posted! Super excited for you!
  10. Hahahah. I was surprised my surgeon let me eat anything. I had always read a full liquid was the norm. And here you are eating eggs! I'm so jealous. 😂 But all is well. I ended up losing about 27 lbs over the two weeks. About 6 days in it got so much easier, like a light switch. And I'm very ready to be cut open tomorrow!

    Thing I miss most

Reading this is my greatest fear. I'm 51, healthy and happy, but tomorrow I'm having surgery mainly because the quality of my life is starting the deteriorate. And it didn't happen slowly, I went from hiking 3 miles without issue to struggling to walk a couple of blocks in a matter of weeks (due to back pain). So while the weight didn't get in the way of your life now, maybe knowing it very well could at any time, maybe that'll help you feel a little less resentful towards things. I've been seeing a therapist via BetterHelp.com since I started down the surgery path. I know I have a food addiction and I know how much I love just stuffing my face, and it has helped. It hasn't gone away, but it has definitely helped. It's all done remotely, so even time isn't an excuse. And they've been very helpful with lowering the cost for me just for the asking. I hope you keep posting so I can follow your journey. I'm rooting hard for you (and for me!).

    Thing I miss most

I'm 7 months out and I don't really *miss* anything. I have now tried most things in moderation and can tolerate them fine, including bread and pasta and rice. Even now there are days when I do not get enough fluids in though because I can't drink for a long time after eating. I can drink right beforehand though - I just get hungry and forget. And I have drunk sparkling water and sodas (and wine) from about 6 weeks post op - I was never told to avoid those.

You will be great! Definitely be more excited than anything else! I was mostly excited but apprehensive as well which I think is normal. My entire hospital experience was so positive and so amazing, I wish the same for you. I am not even 2 weeks post op and I can say with confidence that this is one of the best things I have ever done for myself. Best wishes!

    9 days post-op

I am 10 days post opp( week 2), thin liquids as well with cream soups, pudding, Greek yogurt. Soft veggies are not on my list till week 3 with Puréed but every surgeon/nutritionist is different. As long as you are tolerating it should be fine.

    July 5th surgery

I was overwhelmed with the idea of supplements too but thankfully, my nutritionist gave me links to exactly what I need. I will basically take a 500mg calcium chew three times a day, a chewable vitamin D three times a day, a multivitamin chew once a day, and then 1000 mg B12 once per week. I plan to take the 3 times a day ones with my "meals". Then I'll do the calcium and vitamin d at bed time, and the B12 on Fridays. She really helped make that part of this process much easier. 😋

I had my surgery June 10th so I'm on day 10. I was terrified but learned really quickly that the surgical pain wasn't nearly as close to challenging as getting that gas pain out. That was rough and I can now feel WHAT I suspect is some surgery pain but it pretty much just feels like I've done a few too many crunches, which I can assure you, has not happened. 😂 I only had to take my pain medication the first full day home from surgery and I'm sure it was still the gas pain. Otherwise, pain has not really been an issue which is awesome! The clear diet has not been fun at all, and this second week isn't much fun either by being able to add protein shakes but only four more days until I get to start experimenting with pureed foods! Since I LOVE chicken, tuna, and egg salads, that's what I'll be prepping up for my puree week and first week back at work. Super excited about the possibilities of this new journey! 9 days post-op

Ya I've been on soft veggies, soup, yogurt, pudding, juice ice chunks, since last week. I haven't had any issues, just have to go slow so as to not get over full Sent from my SM-G981V using BariatricPal mobile app

    9 days post-op

Soft vegetables on day nine? My nutritionist says clear to thick liquids, like protein shakes, on week two. I'm genuinely curious because I'm starving so if I can try other things, soft smooshy things, I might do so. Because I have zero energy and am exhausted on just clear liquids and protein shakes.
  19. Hello everyone. So glad I found this forum and I hope it's active because I don't really have anyone other than my surgeon, his nurse, and my nutritionist to ask questions of and they don't have time to be my BFF. Hahaha! My surgery was Friday, June 10th so I'm am on day 10. I feel much better than I did this time last week but dangggg I'm starrrrrving and I am so very over jello, Popsicles, broth, protein shakes, etc. Surely there has got to be something else with a bit more body that I could start to try to get my mini tummy ready for week three, which I'll only have two days to adapt to before returning to work, that will also keep me from feeling like I'm starving. I've been super duper strict and had hoped to do so the entire time but I'm actually concerned about other things because of lack of nutrition. I have been dealing with dizziness, lack of balance, minimal energy (which is highly irritating because I had cleaning plans to work on the two weeks I would be out of work) and just overall weak as all get out. I am getting lots of water, some jello, broth, and Popsicles, and I try to do two protein shakes a day so plenty of fluids, but how in the world can I find something to give me some energy that won't ruin what my nutritionist gave me in an eating plan? I know I am SICK to death of sweet stuff. Blegh! Haha! I have backyard chickens. Would it be bad to try a backyard Fresh scrambled egg and see how my mini tum tum handles it? If not, what other ideas do those of you who are more experienced have?
  20. Hi Everyone, I had the sleeve done in FEB 2022. I've lost a total of 30 lbs, which considering I was losing 1/2 pound a month before surgery. I'll take it! Figured I would be honest with myself, my calorie count has sneaked up from 800-1200, not every day, but most. I'm also eating carbs. I do not lose when doing carbs, they have to be few and far between. The good news is, Salads are on the menu again! That makes life so much easier and easier to avoid carbs. This is disappointing and I'm a bit surprised because I'm physically hungry most of the time! Thought I would share to see if anyone else has this problem. I need to clean my diet up, resume meditating everyday and throw out the carbs! And walk more. I have a new puppy I wasn't expecting and it has turned my world upside, but no more excuses! Good luck to all of you.
  21. Hey everyone so I’m just now hitting 6 weeks post op of gastric sleeve and this is going on my 4th time getting my period, wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this or do we think it’s something I should go to the doctor for???
  22. Thanks again for all the insights. Spoke to the nutritionist, I have no exercise restrictions so I’m good there. She said I just need to listen to my body when it says to stop since I am on such a low calorie diet. Weight lifting and high impact activity is aok. She was surprised my calories were as high as they have been. She said I’ve been making all the right choices and I have been averaging more protein than many of her patients. She also thinks the weight loss is appropriate so not to worry about it too much. She said she’d be surprised if I average higher than that over the next two weeks on the soft food diet. So onward and upward (or downward as we’d all like!)
  23. I had to look up " ESG" and know nothing about it. At 2 weeks out I was barely eating 200-300 cals a day. Now at 3 months out I am between 700-800.

    Food Before and After Photos

Blend a cup of canned chick peas with about 2oz shredded mozzarella, an egg (or 1/4cup of the chick pea liquid) and Italian seasoning, garlic powder and onion powder. Spread to about 1/3 an inch thick on a parchment lined sheet tray and bake at 350F/180C for about 40 minutes. Then top with your other toppings and bake at 400F/200C for another 15-20 minutes.
