Try adding something like GENEPRO Protein powder to things. They say it has no taste. You shouldn't even know it's in your food or drink. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G750A using the BariatricPal App

I don't know how Im gonna make it thru the rest of this liquid diet.

I have a hard time with the shakes and have one more week of liquids. I purchased Genepro from Amazon due to another sleevers recommendation. Mix it in anything and it dissolves and contains 30 grams of protein in one small scoop. That is how I will get my protein until I can add soft foods. I mixed it in cream of wheat this AM with some applesauce. Even in just 1/4 cup it mixed well and no taste. Good luck. -
My first day mushie/soft - i was petrified

I ninjaed the chicken chili and while that first taste was delicious, common sense told me it was too spicey for my delicate tummy and gave it to my husband. I had hummas mixed with GENEPRO instead which was fine too. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App -
Starting Liquids on Monday....any tips?
trekker954 replied to finding_onederland's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GENEPRO seems to be the unflavored Protein powder that many of us prefer. There is absolutely NO taste and mixes well with everything. If you go to their website, they sell ounce sample packs (30 grams each) so you can test them out first to make sure before you invest in the big tub. I'm forcing down a caramel premier Protein shake right now, ugh. But definitely going to have Genepro with some fluids for dinner. -
Easy protein hack!
trekker954 replied to doppelganger's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm only a week post op, but had used GENEPRO during my pre-op and even before that. Its tasteless, mixes well in just about anything I've tried. I know so many who are using it and they are all having good results. "Come off as bro-science d-bags". Why because they are muscle guys? What is your background that you say its not scientific enough. -
Easy protein hack!

I've tried so many protein powders including vegetable and egg, I can't stomach any of them, that's why I tried Genepro to begin with. I've heard all the naysayers concerning Genepro and I can't stand behind their guarantees, but my nutritionist has signed off on it and I feel fine. I agree @@determinedtolive I can taste Genepro despite the claims, but I can barely taste it in the pudding that's why I was excited to share. I hope this helps some folks and Genepro's claims are true. =) -
Thanks, JamieLogical, for pointing that out. *I'm* comfortable counting it as 30g based on local support group members who are using it and having good labs, as well as my surgeon's support, but everyone should consider the chance that it's only 15g per serving. Well, obviously beyond the liquid food stages, we should all be aiming to get the majority of our protein from actual food. So hopefully we'd only be using Genepro or any protein supplements as just that, a supplement. At that point whether it's actually 15 or 30 grams or somewhere in between shouldn't matter much. But if someone is supposed to be getting 90 grams a day and is relying solely on Genepro to get there, the risk would be only getting 45 grams, which would put them WAY short of their target.
-
I feel the need to inject my normal disclaimer about Genepro here. They *claim* to give you the "benefit" of 30 grams of protein in a 15 gram serving. But there have been no independent studies to verify this claim. So, I would take it with a grain of salt and still only count each serving as 15 grams toward my daily goal. If you ARE actually getting the benefit of more protein, then great! But if their claim turns out to be false, you could be coming in very low on your daily protein goals if you are relying heavily on Genepro to get there.

@@Sara Crowley "I am way excited about the GENEPRO I can put 2 tbsp. (if it tastes alright lol ) in a broth and have most my Protein and I wont have to worry about it. At work I forget to eat so it would be great to get most of the protein all at once :)" Is that one scoop (30g protein)? One thing my otherwise pretty laid-back doc did really insist upon is that I remember to not bother going over 30g protein per meal...he said it's pretty well proven that most of us can absorb only 30g or a little less at a time. I'd just hate for you to waste that expensive powder and it not be put to good use by your body.

LOL I have a lady at my work that is about to have surgery and I have been giving her all my shakes that I bought and bout to give her my powder stuff too. I also got some organic whey protein (just came in yesterday) it wasn't too bad. It had a taste but I put it in chicken broth and it was tolerable. Syntrax Nectars are nice, I like all the fruit flavors and they're quite high protein. You should be able to drink clear broth as well, doesn't your program allow that on clear liquids? You can add protein to it...I use GENEPRO unflavored protein and I can't detect it once I mix it into a beverage or food...what brand are you using? Another thing to consider is that maybe you're sensitive to the sweetener in your protein shakes? I hate both aspertame (not in a lot of protein) and sucralose (in virtually every flavored protein), so I switched to Genepro and use either stevia or monkfruit liquid to sweeten things. Thank you so much, ordered the Genepro (one tbsp. per 30 g is way better). Yes I think its the sweeteners also. I can handle Propel water so at least I am getting my 64 oz fluids (well do my best) but the protein is a challenge now which is so frustrating (also going broke buying all this stuff lol) I cant wait to the soft food stage so that I can eat eggs and other kinds of high protein stuff. I hear you about going broke...my support group loves me because for weeks I showed up with a failed Protein Powder to give away each meeting. After I switched to Genepro, no more giveaways and no more spending $30 on something that tastes awful And good for you for getting close to your 64oz so early...I'm still struggling to get it all in daily.

I bought GENEPRO based on how many people say you can't taste it. I've used it in a V8 Splash diet juice, I can taste it. I'll try your pudding/yogurt hack and see if that works for me better. -

@@Ldyvenus I'm glad you mentioned the Syntrax...I ordered the variety pack and I think the cappuccino flavor is still in the pantry! I'll try that one tomorrow. I've used almond milk in my coffee, but it's still not quite what I'm looking for. Right now, I'm making an espresso, steaming a cup of Fairlife milk and adding a scoop of GENEPRO to it, but I'd love to find something with fewer steps for first thing in the morning. One day I'm going to burn the heck out of myself steaming the milk

I am having a hard time with Protein myself I have seen a lot of people talk about the GENEPRO so I am going to get me some to try all the other ones o have tried have been nasty I don't want to taste it Sent from my iPhone -
Those of you who have used GENEPRO, does your surgical team or Nuts approve it? I haven't found a PDCAAS score on it. It's sad that companies can make any claim on supplements and don't have to answer for it. The FDA does not regulate them. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Unflavored protein

My Genepro will be here tomorrow! I can't wait to try it! -
Took me 4 months to think of doing this, but hopefully it will help someone else. 1 sugar-free pudding cup whatever flavor you like +1 scoop of Genepro protein powder =31gms protein, 158cal and 11carbs I can't taste the protein powder at all and it mixes in very smoothly. Not a fan of other protein powders so I can't speak for those. Genepro serving size is 1tbsp compared to other protein powder servings that equal 2tbsp so not sure how well those will work.

Genepro. Works great. But doesn't mix in cold like it says. I use it in yogurt, yams, tea and oatmeal.

This is another example of how varied everyone's taste is :-) I use unflavored protein all the time, in my coffee, in refried Beans, in any soup that I have, into oatmeal, etc. The brand I use is undetectable once it's mixed in and packs a big protein punch. I can't drink a RTD protein drink anymore, they're so grossly thick and artificially sweet, so using unflavored has been a huge help. What brand do you use?? Mine can't be cooked with and I too get sick of flavours and the texture pretty quickly. I would love to sneak it in soup or something. I can and I will. I'm using GENEPRO, and it's by far my favorite. I gave all my flavored powders away, because I can put the unflavored powder into anything plus I can use Stevia if I want something sweet instead of having sucralose which is in so many flavored powders. *Edited to add: I don't cook with it per se, but I stir it into cooked foods. If your oatmeal or whatever is very warm, add the powder to a little milk or Water, stir with a fork, then stir that into the food.
