    Surgery on a "smaller" patient

Yes! Oh my, I hate not being able to eat more than a couple bites before I hit that wall. liquid items (yogurt, soups) I can eat about 6 oz, but chicken or another type of Protein I can barely eat a couple pieces. It forces me to drink shakes which i'm so tired of.

    Calling all February 1st Sleevers!

My hubby actually puréed a burger patty he had made with beef broth and it was delicious. I think he added an ounce of low fat cheese. I've moved to days 15 - 30 which for me is soft fish, soups, puréed chicken and meat, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, tofu, deli meat, eggs and string cheese. Plus all the other stuff.

    ????????Quick Question❓

I have tried it in many things but not crystal lite. I love it in my morning coffee. I whisk the powder with my sugar free creamer real well then add my coffee. It is awesome and love to be able to get some of my Protein intake for the day without really tasting the protein. By the way it is nasty in yogurt.

    Sriracha sauce!

Me too! I eat it mixed with my refried Beans, along with anything else that will remotely go with the sauce. My husband jokes that I should just add it to my yogurt for crying out loud. Back when I used to eat sour cream, I would add it to that and eat it like dip with chips. Yum.

Dannon Light & Fit greek yogurts, the 80 cal ones were my favs. Until ...they came out the the 100 cal chocolate on top variety. Gah!!! Haven't gone back since, lol. Same protein and carbs. Yum!!!

    ...just got real!

Update: Didn't quite make it: 263.8 lol! So I'm down 19.8 pounds since surgery and 25 since 3 days before surgery. Yay!!!! I made Greek yogurt + Syntrax unflavored. Disgusting. I ate it all but will never make it again. For lunch - salmon pack + 1tbsp ff mayo + boiled egg = meh. I ate half of it but my 16 month old was tearing it up lol! Tomorrow I think I'll just have a plain ol' egg lol!

    Favorite Greek Yogurt

I like taking the yoplait greek whipped yogurt and throwing it in the freezer. Take it out like 5 or 10 mins before you want to eat (if your freezer is super cold like mine) then enjoy. The vanilla cupcake one is heavenly. So is the strawberry cheesecake one!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  9. My first week was clear liquids (with a couple of exceptions) and my second week was full liquids. Try some Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, or cream soup. Even when I was on soft foods, eggs were a challenge. They wouldn't be my first choice before I tried some other things.
  10. I was on liquid for 2 weeks also. There are reasons why they set these guideline. Your stomach's staple line needs to heal. You shouldn't eat anything on the liquid phase that doesn't turn to liquid when you eat it. (Creamed soups, broths, Jello, pudding, yogurts (no fruit), ice pops, Powerade zero, crystal light.. Of course sugar free and light) adding food at this point isn't a good choice. Especially at only 7 days out. For your protein drinks: Add favors, dress them up. Pb2 is great for chocolate, sugar free syrups is also a great addition to any flavor.

    Favorite Greek Yogurt

Dannon Light & Fit is the only Greek yogurt I can tolerate. It doesn't taste as "Greek" to me as some of the others. I like the Raspberry and the Key Lime Pie flavors best.

    2/8 surgery date progress?

Not 2/8, but 2/10. Still have no appetite for anything. Have to choke down my Protein shakes, as they just taste putrid to me. Ate a scrambled egg this morning, followed by a light yogurt, just because I couldn't face another shake. Stomach grumbled a little, but no pain or nausea (I told my doctor's nurse about it when she called a little while ago to see how I was doing, and she fussed at me for starting solid food two days early). I have no trouble drinking 64 oz of Water a day, and carry my water bottle everywhere. As of this morning, I have lost 21 pounds (since last Monday). At this rate, I'll reach my goal weight around late March, however something tells me that rate of loss is going to slow down at lot!

    What’s Your Best Food Swap?

Greek yogurt blended with ricotta, vanilla, and sweetener gives me the taste and texture of vanilla ice cream and does a lot less damage.

    Favorite Greek Yogurt

At our house we use Friendly Farms Plain Greek Yogurt from Aldi's. It has 130 calories and 23 grams of Protein per cup. I add to it what I want. It mixes well with ricotta, vanilla, and sweetener to get the taste and texture of ice cream.

If you have a krogers nearby, they have a brand called carbmaster. It is a high protein low carb yogurt and taste really good.

I eat the Walmart brand, great value, light Greek yogurt. The banana cream is really good and has 90 calories, 0 fat, 9 carbs, 7 sugar, and 12 protein. I eat one just about every day.

Not sure it's "the best" (haven't tried them all). But I love the Dannon Oikos Greek yogurt -- vanilla was my fave (still is). 120 calories, 12 grams of Protein.

    HELP! Plxx

I can relate. I started the surgery journey at 320 lbs. I was TERRIFIED to do it. Scared of failure. I was scared the surgery wouldn't work for me, or that I wouldn't be able to make the life changes I needed to make in order to succeed. I'm two months out now, down 60 pounds, and starting to feel really really good! Eating the proper food isn't hard at all. Avoiding the wrong food is even easier. Once in awhile I'll think , " pie sounds good", but then I think of how sick it would make me and that craving is gone in a flash. Dumping or having an upset stomach sucks, so I don't even want to eat the bad things. I've become so intune with my body that I can feel the energy flow when I eat a healthy meal. That's an addictive feeling. Everytime I put on a piece of clothing and it's loose, or when I get a compliment on my weight loss, it's motivating. That too makes sticking to the new eating plan easier. I have two kids and a husband, they eat what I eat. If I'm having plain Greek yogurt with fresh fruit for Breakfast, then so do they. If I'm having spaghetti sauce with zuchini noodles, then they do too. I don't cook two different meals for everyone, we are all getting healthy together. This too helps ease things along. The surgery can be painful, the recovery a little slow, but just get past the first month and things will get easier. You can do it. You can succeed.
  22. SO glad you wrote this topic! I am exactly the same, no yogurt, milk, or fish for me. They all make me sick. I am having surgery on Tuesday and I am really worried too. Seems like there are alternatives. Thanks again for asking! ????

    What’s Your Best Food Swap?

I miss pizza!!! But I make homemade pizza using a zucchini crust. I also do mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes, I use non fat creek yogurt anytime something calls for sour cream or cream cheese. I also make veggie Pasta, and I use ground turkey anytime you would use ground beef.

    Food variety

So in honor of this post, I wrote down everything I ate in the last two days. Many of theses are repeat items that I had both days..... eggs, bacon, chicken, shredded pork, turkey sausage, shrimp, cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, power crunch bar, Quest bar, natures valley Protein bar, quest chips, Greek yogurt, unflavored whey protein, peanuts, asparagus, spinach, onion, cherry tomatoes, broccoli, baked Beans, red bell pepper, yellow squash, Kashi go lean Cereal, All Bran cereal, ground flax seed, blueberries, orange, coconut milk, 1/2 and 1/2, decaf coffee, decaf tea, plain Water, protein hot chocolate, Bai5, water with sweet leaf flavor drops, dark chocolate candy filled with brandy liquor. Portions ranged from a couple tablespoons to maybe 1/3 cup (except the liquids) and eaten over 14-15 "meals". My weekday variety is much lower. Probably more like 10-12 different things over 5-6 meals. I guess the OP's therapist would have a field day with me!

    Can't stop "cheating"

Offering some encouragement re the night eating .... The first 6 - 9 months post-op I had trouble every few weeks with night eating. I never did much damage -- and resorted mostly to yogurt, cheese, milk (interesting, all dairy foods). But my shrink asked me to be more mindful (meaning, to just notice WTF was going on when I felt urges to eat late at night), so I did that. And over the last year those urges have just dissipated. I think what's mostly helped is that I'm not so stressed and sleeping more through the night. Compared to two years ago, I now sleep in the bed with my husband -- I don't stay up late at night and watch TV and wind up sleeping on the couch or in a recliner. Ugh! My increased exercise and activity levels are helping with the sleep, too. I used to take Ambien / Melatonin / Benadryl as needed. And now I seldom need any of that. Once again, new habits -- months and months of doing more things right than wrong -- really are helpful and powerful. Together, those habits constitute a new lifestyle. I sound like Pollyanna.
