Mom, which ones did you try? I tried the Grape and didn't care much for it and I've been a bit concerned about it and now I'm starting to think, after surgery taste buds are going to change and really it's going to be a struggle to get anything down and clear phase is about a week so it's not going to matter too much. I heard there's a green one that's not bad, and I thought I'd try to find that and maybe add a squirt of green MIO or something fruity and add Black Cherry MIO. Unfortunately, I get migraines if I use too many artificial sweeteners, and there are some that cause a bloaty feeling, so I would rather not sweeten things if I don't have to. The only artificial sweetener lately that doesn't have that effect on me is Truvia. Too bad more things weren't made with it for me.

Myfitnesspal is the best. I'm only 10 weeks out from surgery and am still intensly focused on getting to my goal, so I try to only net between 300-500 calories. I eat about 300 calories per meal (Protein, veggies, fruit), 3 meals a day plus a snack in the afternon if needed. I also run every day, which burns enough calories to help me stay in my net range. It's different for everyone. I met with my nutritionist and reveiwed my plan. She made a few suggestions but said calorie wise I'm at a good target for me.

June 2005 Bandsters. Where you at???
giveyouthemoon replied to giveyouthemoon's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think it's kind of interesting that a few of us (small sample I know) are in a stall. I had about a two month stall and now it's sort of starting moving again. Must be part of the journey to plateau at the 6-7 month mark, eh? Weird. Well, we all need to stay strong and keep going!! We know what to do, right? The holidays are over, now BACK ON TRACK! You know, you probably know everything we know. It's just dedication! Exercise and watching what you eat which is SOOO much easier with the band in place. Wishing you tons of bandster luck and LOTS of motivation!!! -
Ins Company Called, Should I Be Concerned
AliveAgain replied to Christina Caballero's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't be concerned. It's most likely a Bariatric Nurse Case Manager. I'm with Anthem Blue Cross and a woman nurse contacted me about three days after I was approved. It's really great! It's part of your insurance benefits and free to you. They know you're about to undergo a MAJOR SURGERY and lifestyle change and want to be sure you know what to expect and give you support. My NCM and I talked over 3-4 conversations, she asked a lot of questions to make sure I was doing all I could pre-op to be healthy, knew what the hospital stay would be like, etc. She was very sweet, knowledgable and I know I can call her now if I have any questions or concerns. GOOD LUCK! -

So happy for you! I am one-week post-op today and trying to have a narcotic-free day. So far so good but will probably do morphine tonight if I'm this uncomfortable when I go to bed. Haven't lost much but am okay with that for now. Keep on, everyone! -

I was going to do the sleeve but my doctor said to do the gastric faster weight loss (not by much) Proud mommy to three amazing babies! -
I also noticed hair loss at about 5 months. My sugeons' office does'nt think it's due to weight loss since I'm a slow looser. In my last blood panel done by my GP they said my thyroid was low and to recheck in a month. The surgeons office said low thyroid could cause hair loss and perhaps explain why I am a slow looser. I need to go back for the thyroid blood test soon. I've been taking Bioten for about 3 weeks can't say I've seen a reduction in hair loss.

I had surgery in 2006 and lost 280 pounds over all over the course of six years… In the past three years I gained back 90 pounds… Last year I had an endoscopy and upper G.I. and they discovered I had a hiatal hernia and some staple adhesions… And recommended a revision… The surgeon I went to told me that he could leave the new smaller stomach and they now remove the excess old stomach… They no longer leave your stomach in there or he doesn't… And doing my research I understood a revision patient usually loses 2 to 3 pounds a month… My doctor said when he got in there… He found a fistula which was a complication from the first surgery which most likely cause my weight gain… A week after surgery… Today I got on the scale and I lost 13 pounds… Was totally shocked and not expecting that so I am wondering since I had that fistula this new revision is kickstarting my weight loss and I will see great success question? Anyone that had a revision care to share their weight-loss story with me after the revision Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Help!! I have several post op questions. Lapband May 19!!
ElizabethNYC replied to vucarre's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1) In general, how difficult is it to take pills? I have a few things I have to take that do not come in liquid/chewable form. How do you handle swallowing meds during recovery and after? You can crush them as long as they aren't time release. If they are time release I would speak to the doctor who prescribed them and let them know what's going on. 2) After the healing process, how does the band feel? Or can you feel it? I'm 2 months out today and for the most part completely healed, I do not feel my port it's really deep. Sometimes my port scar gets a little sore still but that's normal. 3) How long before you got your first fill? Thanks in advance!!! Mine took 7 weeks (should of been 6 but I went on vacation and my surgeon didn't want to give me my first fill right before going away) 4) After surgery, how long before you felt well enough to start exercising moderately? I was out walking around the block within days. Most surgeons say 6 weeks for anything more. 5) Has anyone had mild-to moderate acid reflux that is controlled with meds before the band? And, how is the acid reflux after the band? Is it better or worse? I was put on an RX after my endo to help control my acid reflux, since being banded I haven't had any acid reflux. 6)I have seen on a lot of posts that after the band, there is less hunger. I actually am never hungry because I typically eat before I get hungry. So, after the band, are you not thinking about food or does the lasting feeling of fullness really diminish the hunger? Are you chomping at the bit for the next meal, or do you kind of forget about eating until all of a sudden you realize you need to eat? Right after being banded I had to force myself to eat because honestly I wasn't hungry at all. As I started to heal more I listened to my body and it told me when I was hungry. I only have 1 fill and I am not at my sweet spot yet but when you are you should be staying full for a good amount of time between small meals. 7Because eating is so tied to my emotions, and once I am no longer living to eat, I just wonder if I will pic up other compulsive behavior? Have any of you started doing other destructive things to replace the emotional salve of eating.) I honestly have not but I do suggest that if you do maybe seeing a doctor about it wouldn't be a bad idea. Hope I helped and good luck!!! -
Learning the hard way
RJ'S/beginning replied to kimpossible67's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is one of the many changes that occur when having WLS. Things we found easy to eat before no longer agree with us. I can no longer eat roast beef or any solid meats like that. Pork kills me! Fish and the brown meat of chicken and turkey are my saving grace. I was able a few weeks back to eat a piece of beef and then tried again a week or so later and threw it up. I figure 2 years out...My relationship with certain foods is over! I eat lamb and rabbit and most fish now. Maybe that is what you are dealing with as well. I eat tofu now and other Proteins instead. -

I tried 3 shrimp, made me nauseous. Last week had half a piece of Salmon, I was sick for days. Still hadn't bought a clue. So I had half a piece of cod on Friday (fish n chips?). I'm still miserable. Bloated, the runs, nauseous, headache, hot flashes. Ugh. Buh bye seafood. 8 mths post-op.

I am 1.5 weeks post op (be 2 on Thursday) and today I am trying to tidy up all my kids toys and stuff. When I bend over and stand back up I get very light headed and almost weak knee'd feeling... Is this normal? Overdoing it? Something I should be concerned about? I seem to recall my husband being dehydrated once and feeling similar, I am worried about that... does anyone know if that is a symtom? Thanks!!

I am supposed to have a consult with Dr. Provost tomorrow the 14th...someone from his office just called and said that he was sick all last week and was not sure when he was coming back to work. They switched me to Dr. Rivas and now my appointment has been pushed back to the 21st. I have already waited a month and a half for Dr. Provost because he's one of the best in Dallas/Fort Worth...and now I'm not seeing him but one of his colleagues. I don't know how to react to this. If I insisted on seeing Dr. Provost it would be late February when I got in to see him. I don't want to wait forever...but I don't want to go with the wrong doctor. HELP!!! Has anyone had this happen before has anyone been banded by Dr. Rivas? Thanks for any help!!!
