    NSV moment

I spent yesterday at the dreaded Mall with my two granddaughters looking for a dress for the 14 yr old to wear in a pageant she will be in next Sat. 40 lbs ago I could not have walked that Mall more than a few minutes without sitting down to rest.. I did not sit one time.. so your NSV is awesome.. it's a wonderful feeling to be able to participate in life instead of sitting on the sidelines and sweating lol...keep up the good work...

    A Little Update

I agree, great NSV! And you do look wonderful!

    Caught a Glimpse

Congratulations!!!! That is so awesome. I totally agree with you, never thought I would enjoy running, some days I dread the thought, but when I go out and do it, it feels so good. I think some of the euphoria comes from knowing where I was before....getting winded going up the stairs. Great NSV!!
  5. One of the reason I choose to have WLS was to help me gain control of my health issues. I had Type II diabetes, high cholesterol, bad joints in my knees and feet and so on. Well, after my blood work results, I am happy to report: I am no longer diabetic. I no longer have high cholesterol. My joints are feeling better although they still twinge every now and then. I am off my diabetic meds as well as the cholesterol meds. I am reducing the dosage of my synthroid meds. I only have 2 mandatory meds I have to take that are, HRT (female hormones due to a hysterectomy in 2002) and my synthroid. Yay! It is amazing what losing 94 pounds will do for your health. 45 pounds prior to surgery and 49 after surgery. Working on becoming as healthy as I can. Sheila

    Pre-surgery NSV

So I haven't had surgery yet (Monday!) but the other day I realized that I could wrap my fingers around both of my wrists... I haven't been able to do that for years!! I should also mention that I have pretty small hands lol. A lot of people talk about not having "cankels" anymore, well I am just excited that my wrists are getting small again! So yeah, odd I know, but really made me smile and I thought I would share

    Pre-surgery NSV

Odd, I had the same NSV. I don't know why I've done it but I've done just that since I was a kid, just sit there and wrap my fingers around my wrist and see how far I could touch. I was able to just rub the tips of my thumb and middle finger together a few months ago, now I can just about reach the base of my thumbnail. Funny, I don't know anyone else that does this too.

    A....private NSV :)

Today in the shower I noticed I was able to shave certain areas with a lot more ease I didn't even realize it until I was halfway done - that I wasn't struggling to reach places. My husband will be thrilled

Finally Stopped Lying to the DMV

This is a big NSV I'm hoping for! I've been thinking about it for months. I have to renew my license on my birthday this year (March 7th) and I'm 22 pounds from the weight on there now. I want to be at that weight when I renew in a few months. I'm 6 months out and have slowed to an average of 10-11 lbs/month so I'm going to be cutting it close but I'm really hoping!

    NSV moment

I live in Texas so I totally understand the sweat issue. What a great NSV for you!
  11. Hello new me

When did you buy new clothes?

I am 8 weeks out and bought a couple of new things today. We have a outlet mall close to my house, so I shopped the clearance rack. I actually has a NSV today and was able to buy clothes that were not from any plus size stores. I was so excited. $80.00 later, I have 2 new pairs of jeans, 4 new shirts and a couple of pair of underwear. I know these will all be too big in a month, but my husband and I have a long weekend get away next weekend. I wanted to look good since we are seeing friends that we haven't seen in years.

    My first NSV's post op!

Great NSVs...and at only only 4 1/2 weeks post op...amazing and wonderful. Great fit on the jeans...:-)
  13. I finally felt thinner, the first time I could tuck my shirt in and didn't have to worry about pulling the tail out when I raised my arms above my head! :-P I started out at 374, I could see the lbs falling when I got on the scale, but it wasn't until I started having NSV's like: having to adjust my car seat closer to the steering wheel, realizing I could cross my legs without having to use my hand to assist getting my leg in place, buckling my seat belt without having to pull the belt all the way out to reach the buckle, and when I realized I had started bending over to put on my shoes instead of having to sit on the bed to get my foot close enough to my hands.
  14. What does the acronymn NSV stand for? Obviously a good thing lol. Like when I couldnt wait to get into my leather coat that was 5 sizes smaller only to find it was too big in a few weeks. I started out much heavier at but noticed the weight when I dropped the first 60 pounds.
  15. That's an awesome and amazing NSV... and it's great that the uniform lady went to bat for you as well!!! You should be super proud of yourself! You are rocking that sleeve!!!

    Liberating NSV

Congratulations! Isn't it great to spend time doing something that's not centered around FOOD? It's amazing how so much of our lives are centered on food - holidays, etc? It's great to spend time with people and enjoy their company! Great NSV!

    Two NSV's this week.

I have felt like I'm losing very slowly since surgery, but I have to realize that my age, and the fact that I haven't been exercising much has a lot to do with it. I know it's a journey that takes time, but it's in my nature to be impatient. lol I had two NSV's (None Scale Victories) this week. The first was being able to scoot the seat up in our jeep and actually reach the pedals. Normally my belly prevented me from being ablet to scoot up far enough to push the clutch down to the floor. Now I can!! woohooo. The second was that I tried a pair of 18 jeans on today and they fit!!! I haven't worn a size 18 in a long time. I've dropped 2 - 3 sizes since surgery. Makes me feel wonderful. To anyone questioning whether this will work or not...I does!!! Trust me. Happy Thursday all! :w00t:
  20. Im only half way but this morning someone said to me' "who is that hot tall chick?" And it was me!! Omg!!! I can honestly say right now I'm literally on cloud nine! So, YAY!! And I really needed that today too!
  21. I'm four days preop, and I've been thinking about non-scale victories (NSVs) that I'm looking forward to. Here's my top 10 list. I'll come back and update the list as I accomplish each one. What's on your NSV wish list? 1. Shop for clothes in the "misses" or "juniors" part of the store 2. Cross my legs when sitting in a chair 3. Go at least two hours without thinking about food at all 4. Make exercise a daily habit 5. Get rid of every scrap of clothing over a size 12 in my closet 6. Climb stairs without losing my breath 7. Buy sexy underwear 8. Wear sexy underwear in front of my husband 9. Go indoor rock climbing 10. Go indoor skydiving (Yes, I'm a wimp!)
  22. Oh, and keep a list of achieved NSVs (non scale victories). It will help ease the pain when you don't see the scale moving. It's also fun to have an incentive chart! I have varying weight loss goals that reflect low weight marks, scale numbers, total pounds lost, and personal goal pre surgery (which I've already met and then changed to a new goal). My goals range from 2 pounds to 25 pounds before an incentive is reached. THEN I MAKE SURE TO GET MY INCENTIVE!! Skipping something just makes the chart pointless. I've included pics of my personal "charts" including a monthly weight loss tracker and skinny bucket list (of things I want to achieve once I'm thin). I keep these in the back of my daily journal so I can reflect and update often. Hard to read - sorry - I didn't intend them for sharing. My sister and step dad are body builders/weight lifters (depending on their season). I worked out with them often as a teen and have been through every phase of diet/exercise/flabby/fit/muscular/sad there is during my life. I worked my enormous butt off in 2011 to lose weight after having my kids and being diagnosed with PCOS. I went from 287 to 218 in 2-3 years just on diet and exercise. Then, tada!, I got pregnant through 2 forms of birth control and gained over 100 pounds during pregnancy. Now, 2 years after birth, I'm back on diet and exercise while waiting for this tool that will help me stop the rollercoaster ride. I have only told my husband about surgery. No one else in my family would agree. But now that I'm older and been through these weigh ups and downs way too many times in my life, I'm ready to stop the routine and get help. HW: 328 (02/22/17) SW: TBD CW: 285 Pounds disowned to date: 43
  23. I'm a SAHM with 4 kids & more days than I'd care to admit I wear drawstring yoga pants. Despite my loss, my jeans do not fit any looser, but today I put on some yoga pants & tossed my phone in the pocket, as I do everyday but they keep sliding down....the "weight" of my phone is pulling my pants down! I've had to pull them up 100 times today! Idk why but this thrills me My surgery day weight was 316. Today I weigh 269. The significance of this number is I haven't weighed under 270 since before I got pregnant with my 4.5yo son so that means it has been 5 years since I've weighed this little I love my sleeve! So exciting!
  24. New pants today! I went from a size 24w to 18w in a month and one week. I almost cried in the dressing room.
