Hello, i am a lil confused. Dear Sheryl, Are you sure it is CLEAR liquids for two weeks? I was able to have anything through a straw from day 1. I would have just died if they would have told me clear liquids for 2 weeks. good luck!

I had terrible, terrible pain in my shoulder for about a week, even radiating down around the outside of my left breast. It was so bad that the pain actually woke me up at least a couple of times in the middle of my sleep. The only thing that worked for me (until it naturally disappeared) was to take a couple mega doses of Tylenol. It was the only thing that dulled the pain. Of course being only a week or two out of surgery, you'll want to cut the pills into tiny bits before swallowing. Hope that helps!

Wisdom about the sleeve
*susan* replied to attitudefree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1. Listen to your body and stop eating when you are no longer hungry, not full or stuffed. 2. Fuel your body with healthy foods. 3. Exercise is key to losing weight and improving your health. -
How Long Do You Stay Full?
Jenny12 replied to Noor1969's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 11 months out and I'd say I get hungry 3 hours after eating a meal that actually makes me feel full. -
Hi all, I'm on liquids for 2/3 weeks post op... Can anyone recommend any liquids that you enjoyed during this stage? I am currently sipping on an Atkins milkshake, which is quite nice. Cheers all! X Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Gained 2 freaking pounds!
katiemay0101 replied to katiemay0101's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I ended up taking the regular dose ex-lax and 12 hours later I am so cleaned out I would probably whistle on a hill top. I have no idea if we are allowed to take ex-lax or not so please don't follow this advice without talking to your doctor (I tried calling mine but didn't get a call back). But I can say that it worked for me after not going for almost 2 weeks. I feel so much better and for the first time in a long time I didn't vomit when I ate. Gotta tell ya, it was a great feeling. -
Where are you in your monthly cycle? No matter what, I gain weight every four weeks like clock work. It's maddening, but I know it'll come off. Could it be that? Sometimes when I am constipated I drink some extra protein and it helps me go- odd but effective. MOM, miralax, and every stool softener and laxitive out there has no effect on me either :/ good luck!

When Do You Know Your Stall Is Over?
Lilu replied to ArtSong's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jump start your stall by change you habits around. Keep a food log and increase your exercise. If you are just walking, then walk you some hills. Also do some Zumba. Get some type of game that focus on you moving. I like wii but I have a 360 too. I have had one stall. now I am losing inches and the min pound is 1.7 lbs. Good luck 7month out now. -
Ok, so I am 9 days post-op and constantly tired, like laying around and even sleeping 10 hours a day...which is totally abnormal for me. I realize that it is from the lack of protein. I am trying to eat it, but I simply cannot consume so much in a day. All I can eat is 4-5 times a day, and like 1-2 ounces at a time. Yesterday, I bought the Gordan's Frozen Fish Fillet's, but all I could eat was 3/4 and that is the entire day. That is 17 g. of protein. I HATE SHAKES...HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE. Any other suggestions? Thanks-Tracey

New Article on NBCNews about Post WLS Skin Removal

I started documenting rashes at the same time I was preparing for VSG surgery. I asked for prescriptions for the chafing. Aetna approved me for panniculectomy quite easily. Wish I had documented inner thigh rashes as well because they denied that surgery for now. I started documenting that now so maybe I can get thigh surgery next year. This time next week I'll be in surgery for the panni -
I'm 2 1/2 months post op and he been a weight stall for weeks (down 43lbs) but I wanted to start working out to maybe jump start losing again. What are some things you guys do? I'm looking for ideas and wanted to know where my heart rate should be and things like that.

I started walking every day after getting home and eventually got back into the gym. I started gradually increasing the speed on the treadmill to where I have now gotten to the point of actually running. I will do the elliptical machine also. In all I will do about 45-60 minutes of "cardio" exercise a day. I may now have to try the spin class thanks mamamareli for the idea on that one. I have also been cleared as of this week to start lifting weights again.

I can't remember the last time I owned a scale and I don't plan to buy one any time soon after being sleeved - primarily because of stuff like this. I'm sure that's been a positive and negative for me in terms of my weight over the years but then I think of the times I was really working a diet and exercise program hard and got on the scale somewhere else and was crushed when the numbers hadn't changed as I had expected. This happened to me as recently as last week when I went in for the last of my 6 month md visits. I had switched to diet drinks, was exercising 4 or 5 days a week and was doing low/no carb meals. I just knew I had lost AT LEAST 5 pounds because my clothes had loosened up...but the scale moved down just 1 pound. This week, I'm feeling like what's the point. If I had had the choice, I would never have gotten on that scale, but I had to finish my pre-op requirements. So, my plan is to continue on through surgery enjoying the many non-scale victories that I will surely be treated to. I plan to buy a scale when I get close to goal so that I can monitor a maintenance weight and keep within a certain range of pounds. I do plan to take my measurements pre-op and thoughout my journey toward goal because I feel that measurements are a more accurate measure of progress.

I am walking more each day. I had my first trip out grocery shopping with the husband, and was very worn out afterwards. It seems like everyone has a different post op plan. I am on strict clear liquids for the first week, only 1 ml at a time every 15 minutes...I have a timer I use that I would like to smash! LOL

My 2 week follow up was on may 9th. They weighed me, asked if I was having any concerns or problems relating to pain or nausea etc from surgery. I had a few issues I discussed with her and then she looked at my incisions and took off my remaining steri strips. Then we talked about what I was eating which I believe I just started soft foods and that she wanted me to progress to solids in a few days and to journal what I was eating so that by my 4 week follow up appt she would know if I needed a fill or not. My 4 week appt is coming up Thursday so hopefully I get a fill bc I can eat more than I'm supposed to now. Hope this helps and good luck

How much recovery time?
slm2007 replied to bluekerry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't plan on much for the first 7 days. I felt good and came back to work on day 5 but have a desk job. There is no way I could have done "rancher" responsiblities. there is NO heavy lifting for at least 4 weeks. You are healing internally so while you incision may look nice and healed, your insides are not so you don't want to mess them up. There were days 3 weeks out that I'd pick up my son who is 35 pounds and I could feel it......not a good feeling. -
@@judy vsg What is your Protein intake? Are you eating enough Proteins? At that time, post op I was hungry too, and had to eat regularly every 3 hrs, if I went over 3-4 hrs, I was practically starving. So I had to have Breakfast, then later a snack (protein), then lunch, then snack (protein), then dinner and another snack for supper. Later on my hunger went away, alas at 6 months, it is coming back, so I need very regular meals again. I was and still am measuring my portions, and tracking my proteins on MFP. And of course maintaining fluids. Good luck!

No hunger, yet no fullness
Tarain replied to Candace2314's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with iegal. You will go through so many changes now that the surgery is over. For me, every week was a big difference compared to the previous. Everything is kinda "out of whack" right now, but it should get a lot better over time. Just be patient. -
How did you handle Nausea after sleeve
A New New Dawn replied to rosstheboss's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Walking helps. Sipping water very slowly too. The stomach growling is normal. The first few days I couldn't stomach protein drinks either. For now, just staying hydrated is your main focus. My doctor advised me that as long as I could get 3-4 cups of liquid in that's enough to stay hydrated. I hope you start feeling better soon. -
I think you are very lucky your body responds so well to weights. Can you afford to hire a personal trainer? Even if it's just for a couple weeks they could give you some help in toning muscle, but not bulking up. I would think if you lighten the weights you are using you will be happier with the results, but I am no proffesional in weight training. Hope this helps and best wishes.

I have a bit different approach. I have been tracking my weight daily on my scale - same time of day & always without clothes. I keep this on a spreadsheet & monitor stuff like TOM, exercise, and alcohol intake. The graph I get from this data shows my ebbs and flows throughout the month & gives me peace of mind if I see something unusual. What I mean is that it isn't usually UNusual - it's just the way my body works. Now, the stall I had 2 weeks prior was not part of my normal routine since having surgery, but now I have it documented. It will be interesting to see if it follows a similiar pattern in the future. Of course, this is what works for me - you need to find out what works for you.
