In need of a buddy sleeve date Feb 26!
mom2hounds replied to skinny06's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I drank and still do Premier Protein 30 gr. protein. Tastes very good and you can get it at Sam's. My taste did change. Before surgery I loved chewing ice constantly now not so much. Love vegetable blends, now don't really care for them. Didn't really care for pork chops before surgery now I really like them. It's kind of weird. Little things I always liked now not so much. But then foods I never ate and refused to like Greek Yogurt by Yoplait, I eat like crazy now, only 100 cal and it tastes great. Good for a fill in between meals. I only love the Peach. But in the end it is all worth it. You can do it.....I did and I had a lot of weight on me even after losing 100lbs. before surgery. I have now lost an additional 85 - 100. You can do it. -

You don't have to blend the eggs. And i was allowed Greek yogurt and cottage cheese. Kind of like what you could feed a baby. That's funny I got some baby food green Beans yesterday! -
I'm 58, my surgery was 12/2/15. I was not hungry in the first few weeks, but I'm very hungry now! I can tell the difference between physical hunger and psychological hunger. I need to eat something every 2-3 hours. As soon as I have a piece of cheese, or spoonful of Peanut Butter, yogurt, etc., I feel so much better, and I can make it to my next meal. I feel like I never had surgery. I do not get very full, so I have to be careful not to eat too much. I usually weigh my Proteins. I don't go over 4 oz of Protein per meal. I do add in some veggies, but not much. No carbs. No fruits. Just proteins! I can't always get in my 64 oz of Water, (which I believe is too much, I like 56 oz). It's like I'm on a regular low-fat, low-calorie, no carb diet just like everybody else out there. Sweets do not bother me. So many people complain they vomit, or get upset stomachs. Nothing bothers me, unless I eat too fast, which I tend to do almost every day. I just can't seem to break that bad habit. Now I'm on a plateau for 3 weeks! I heard it's normal, but I don't like it, lol! I hope my weight lost starts up again, soon.

Refried beans Cottage cheese Soft scrambled eggs (mix with water or milk and they are ok for pureed stage) Mix all three above, add green chili and you've got a mini huevos rancheros...mmmm! Hummus Mashed potatoes with added protein powder Mashed avocados with garlic and cilantro Mashed cauliflower with melted cheese Plain Greek yogurt flavored with protein powder Broth, Cream soups or any pureed soup (without noodles or rice) with unflavored protein powder added....Split pea, butternut squash and French onion were my favorites Pureed tuna fish with mayo (sounds gross but it's good) Deviled ham Ricotta bake (google it) Still drank protein shakes through all stages to meet protein goals. -
Favorite Greek Yogurt
sweetsavannah replied to Threetimesacharm's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Triple Zero! Yogurt is my FAVORITE food, before and after surgery. Triple Zero is the best. 15g of protein -
I feel like I'm running out of time too! I was told I wouldn't be required to do a pre op cause I'm lower bmi, but I asked for the plan. From what I read the lower your surgery weight more overall % you can lose. My kids are too young. They don't know. I have one more day of work! I'm getting excited! I have to get though tomorrow. Run a billion errands on saturday. Spend a lazy day with the family on sunday.... then finish packing. Are yalls out patient? WOW! That's commitment to start a preop diet early (with out having too). I feel like a life time of change eating is plenty for me ???? You are way ahead of the game if you're resting on Sunday. That sounds wonderful. I am going none stop until Tuesday. I haven't even really done any sleeve related stuff, like shopping for after surgery. I am really nervous because I don't like milk, or yogurt, or cottage cheese. Makes me gag. Not sure how I'll survive! Hopefully it will all work out. We're all taking the plung together! ???? That's cool! Glad you started this thread

Favorite Purees?
sweetsavannah replied to chrissygeorge25's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm currently on purees and loving the baked ricotta, greek yogurt, refried beans, and Laughing Cow cheese triangles! Just don't forget about the protein. The only thing I've tried on purees that I didn't care for was oatmeal...weird because I loved it before, but I don't need all of those carbs anyway! -

Absolutely awesome news and no you don't sound like you're bragging we are hear to support each other. Your scars look really good, I have that surgical glue on mine that doesn't seem to come off very easily Major congrats on going to puréed, I'm so ready for that stage but won't change over until next Tuesday but I'm already planning ahead Did you true tuna or the ricotta bake yet? No, I realized that even though my surgeon has advanced me I'm not comfortable trying anything. I did buy the ingredients for the ricotta bake an am comfortable trying that on tomorrow as i had some sauce with parmesan on top from some spaghetti I made for others. But tuna, chicken, etc. No thanks. Swallowing didn't hurt when the tiny tiny chicken piece went down but it just gave me a weird undescribable feeling. Whenever I do try a meat again it will be some white fish. Maybe next weekend. But cheese has been awesome. No adverse reactions at all from cheese, milk, yogurt. Are you all on a calorie diet at all? My surgeon only goes by Protein. Obvious starchy foods are out for a while but others I hadn't counted on being out are oatmeal, any grains, Cereal, etc. Even if they are low calorie. He says they are fat burning nightmares. (Basically knocking you out of ketosis and will cause stalls.) -
Solid foods soon. Kinda scared
robynbyrd replied to robynbyrd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yesterday was day 4 on solids. I had half to three quarters a 5 oz yogurt for breakfast a quarter to a thrid of a veggie patty (no bun) for lunch and 6 cubes of chicken for dinner. Each time I ate until I felt full but not stuffed. Maybe I am overeating? I'm just really nervous about screwing up and going through all this for nothing. -
Switching from liquid to mushies
Kindle replied to NatashaSaysRawr's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ditto to everything Bufflehed said. I progressed much slower than my plan allowed, eating only one new thing every few days and only a couple tablespoons at a time. Continued to get most of my Protein from shakes well into my normal solid food stage. Cottage cheese, plain Greek yogurt flavored with Protein powder, refried Beans with cheese and salsa, egg salad, deviled ham, hummus, pureed tuna fish, creamy Peanut Butter, and scrambled eggs were all things I ate in pureed stage. But my number one goto was pureed Soups with unflavored protein powder. I ate pretty much any soup I could find....without noodles or rice of course. If it had chunks I just pureed it. I used Syntrax and unjury unflavored protein powder. -

Well, I would stay away from potatoes, they are super high-carb and low protein. Maybe try some Greek yogurt or cottage cheese. You can also Google Eggface Baked Ricotta to get a delicious recipe for high protein baked cheese & marinara dish that tastes like lasagna. You want to start with very small amounts -- measure out maybe 3 tablespoons of food (less than a quarter cup) and eat very slowly. If you start to feel like you don't want any more, stop before you finish your measured portions. Rumbling and grumbling from your stomach is pretty normal, but you don't want to feel pain. If you are feeling pain or getting sick, go back to liquids for a few days before trying again. The food stages are not a race, and not everyone is ready to progress at the same rate. Good luck! -

I love Premier Protein Bars. I get mine at BJ's. 18 bars for about $17. It comes in a variety pack with 3 flavors: Peanut Butter crunch, chocolate peanut butter and yogurt peanut crunch. They have a lot of other flavors but these are the 3 that come in the variety pack. You can also find them at Walmart and they sell them by the bar for about $2/bar. I find them to be very tasty and honestly have them quite a bit for Breakfast throughout my weight loss. I'll list the basic info so you have an idea if you want to try them. I know they're a bit high in carbs and at 1st I was very leery about that. But I've lost 150lbs so they couldn't have 'hurt' my weight loss that bad. My RNY Gastric Bypass Surgery

I don't know if you have talked to your nutritionist about having high protein snacks. I eat a lot of 80 cal fit and light Greek yogurt. It has 12 grams of protein. I have found that high protein snacks can help get me through the day. I try for 3 meals and 2 snacks. Some days I don't make the 3 meals. I am working on the 75-90grams of protein. I hope this helps -

So I don't think soup and yogurt settle with me due to my milk intolerance. I woke up with a tummy ache and have had it pretty much all day off n on. I also haven't been to the bathroom in a week so that probably doesn't help. I will try miralax tommrow since I'm past 5 days. I am also having really bad left side pain like I pulled a muscle so I probably did while trying to clean up around my house a little bit. I've been taking it easy today. I am also having some back pain to where it feels so tired but can't relax. My body feels like that too. Like I'm anxious. I don't think my body is used to me being such a bum lately. I am usually working or cleaning. I also don't have good posture due to my insicions. I'm relaxing now in my recliner in my bedroom with the heating pad -

Inner Surfer Girl replied to denniemiddlegirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since I ate everything with a tablespoon pre-op, switching to a teaspoon is using s smaller spoon. I did get some appetizer spoons rather than toddler spoons. I still use one of those to eat things like yogurt. It really does help me to take smaller bites. If you use a teaspoon then try using just the tip rather than a full teaspoon full. It takes practice but I think that taking smaller bites, eating slowly, and chewing thoroughly really makes a difference. The benefit is that I get to really taste my food. -

I am on soft foods right now, so cream of wheat, refried beans, drinkable yogurt, some soup. I can't have meat yet, so it's really hard to find mushy food with a lot of protein. -
when adding the Protein powder to your coffee or hot chocolate remember you put one scoop in a cup and add a little cold Water until it is runny like pancake batter and then slowly stir in your coffee and it wont lump up. I had to learn the hard way on this. LOL Great way to get in your protein. I also hate taking Vitamins and having a hard time with it. I ran out of my Patches but I came across the website and went ahead and ordered me some more. I usually get them at my Dr. apt but its a 1 1/2 drive away and not very convenient for me. They should be arriving any day now. I am sick of Protein drinks so what I do is smoothies instead. Add Greek Yoplait yogurt strawberry cheesecake (100 calories and 13 g of protein) with a scoop of unjury Protein Powder a little milk and cut up a banana and it is amazing!!!!!! Good luck and let us know how your check up goes!

I just stop after a couple bites. It's so hard not to drink water after bites too. Definitely with yogurt since it's so thick. I will probably talk to Thompson on Wednesday about how to eat and how to figure everything out. -
Anyone have RNY on 01-18-16
prdmommyof3 replied to Lyndzee104's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey there! I had my surgery on 1/11 and am feeling, for the most part, great! I cannot eat very well yet. Greek yogurt and cottage cheese goes down great, but when it comes to my "moist meat", I have a difficult time. I'm down 20 pounds since surgery day, and my dr was not very happy with my loss. She thought I should have been down more. So, here we are a week later, and I haven't lost a single once since my 1 month appointment. This is very difficult! -

I had my sleeve surgery 1/20/16 and I took a 3 day trip to Las Vegas on 2/11/16 (3 weeks post op). Now, I know everyone recovers differently but I was completely useless for the first 2.5weeks. I was worried about taking my trip but started to get some energy back a couple days before I left. I completely understand what you're going through. I apologize in advance, this may be lengthy, especially since it's fresh in my mind. I think the most difficult thing is going to be food. At three weeks I was supposed to be on a puréed diet. That was incredibly difficult while traveling!!! I am having trouble with Protein shakes post op, no matter what I try I just can't stomach them. That would have been my go to, but I just couldn't do it. I ate mostly yogurt and eggs and those 1 oz packages of peanut or almond butter (I can't remember the brand. It's all natural, no sugars or anything). But, I also ate things that weren't puréed. I didn't have a choice in some places. There just aren't many options on a puréed diet. I did get sick once from eating 2 French fries. I just didn't want to spend so much money on an entire meal when I really shouldn't have been eating any of the foods they had to offer and would only be able to eat a couple bites anyway, and I figured French fries were soft so I just took a couple from someone else's plate. Not a good idea! No more fried things for me!! It didn't help that our hotel room didn't have a fridge or anything, so I couldn't buy yogurts or anything to keep in the room. I did, however, make sure I had a Water bottle on me at all times. I'm not sure what stage of the diet you will be on during your trip, but I would definitely consider what your options would be. As far as rescheduling your trip, and I'm assuming that this is just for pleasure since you're wondering about postponing, I would do some research online or by phone. Look at where you will be staying and local restaurants and any outings you have planned. Most places offer menus online, try to find things that will work for your diet. Even call them and see if they will be accommodating. Also, look at who you will be traveling with. Do they know about your surgery and diet restrictions? Are they going to be supportive and understanding? I think if you will be able to find foods that will fit your diet you will be fine. I had energy back by that point and besides having trouble with food, I had a phenomenal trip. Good luck with your surgery and have fun in Hawaii! Thanks for the information... As I was reading your post I called my BF and told him we are not rescheduling! The room we are staying in had a full kitchen so I will be able to keep The yogurts on hand. I will definitely be checking the surrounding areas now that you mentioned the online menus! THANKS FOR THE GREAT ADVICE ???????????????????? -
