Moms with littles: how bad is it post op??
domi replied to Dee_Rose's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Mine aren't little anymore, but I would make sure you are not lifting any more than you should. The first week especially. Remember not to eat your kids leftovers. They will be eating more than you. -
my banding is 3/19, I'm on the pre op diet, any suggestions on a good tasting drink?

Question post-op about ab workout
Jess55 replied to dmg223's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, if that's true I'm in trouble, I do crunched and Sirius and everything 6 days a week at kickboxing. Yes, I do feel the port pull sometimes, and I've been doing it since about 3 months post op. I've never heard of a doc not allowing you to do AB exercises. -
I am 7 1/2 weeks post-op and last week started working out at the gym with a trainer. I was under the impression that 6 weeks post-op you can resume abdominal excercises. Monday I had an appt with the nurse praciticioner at the bariatric office who said that I can no longer do crunches forever and have to be careful with other ab moves as well. Anyone else told this as well? I am aware that the port if stitched into my abdominal wall and that I have to be careful but how can I accomplish a good work-out of my abs then? Any suggestions?

Sounds good. Will have to try it. My go-to fish recipe is to coat fillets with McCormick seafood rub, melt 1 tablespoon of butter in pan, add fish, cook 3 minutes on first side, flip, add a splash of white cooking wine, then some veggie stock, cover and let it steam until done. Can always add 1 tablespoon of flour to pan once fish is removed and a splash if cream if you want a sauce.

I was told not over 1200 but my weight has stalled so at my next appt. I'm going to ask the nutritionist specifically about that.

Hi all, I got surgery on 8/9/21 and for the last couple of weeks everything has left super heavy on my stomach. I have been vomiting a lot and can’t seem to keep anything down fully. It feels like the food is getting stuck in my throat almost. I should be on the soft food diet, but can’t really seem to even get through puréed. Did anyone else struggle like this at first? I’m having trouble getting enough nutrients and water and these dang vitamin chews are disgusting! Please help lol. Thank you!!

ChynaBlack replied to Changing B4YourEyes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was the same way after my sleeve day. couldnt hold nothing down but it should be better about 5 days later. it took me about a week and i still get nausiated sometimes but it will be easier in about 2 more days .....goood lucK !!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
I am currently preparing to be sleeved on 2/12. I am in the pre-op diet phase (which I am finding it very difficult because I am ALWAYS hungry!!!!!). I have my vitamins ordered and should be here tomorrow. I ordered some liquid Tylenol and some weight loss cook books that should be here on Thursday. The only thing I have left to do is buy the clear liquids for after the surgery. I will be on 1 week of clear liquids. That will be followed by 1 week of full liquids. Then 4 weeks of liquids/soft foods. I want to have enough to get me buy for a couple of weeks so I will do my shopping this weekend. I am also starting to think about what all I am going to pack. I don't want to overpack. I will probably wear my clothes to the hospital that I am going to wear home. I'll get some Gas X for the gas pains. I will pack my iPad and phone. Anything else that I will need? I plan on wearing the hospital gowns and some flip flops. Here are my before pictures that I took this evening: Front shot Side shot Back shot Face shot

4 Weeks Of Pre Op For Me Baby... Heeeeeeeeeeeeelllllppppp
Capt Derel replied to kb7274's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Hey KB look what I am about to tell you is going to be the hardest thing for you. If you keep your carbs real low "I used promasil from GNC - 0 carbs" drink 6 shakes per day and maybe some egg drop soup if you have to -chicken broth or hot n spicy would be better choices btw- by the time 10 days rolls around you will absolutely be NOT hungry. My last 4 days Preop I wasnt hungry at all. Totally amazed me. I was fortunate to have a training captain work with me for my preop period just in case I fell out. But I never had any problems. Now post op is another story. Thats where u should be worrying. At 3 weeks post op I was puking on alot of stuff. Getting dizzy when I stood up from sitting. So please schedule some time off post op. Many times I was offloading and having to run to the side the vessel to throw up. Imaging having to hit the side the road really fast. So its in everyones best interest for anyone operating heavy machinery to take atleast a month off. Goodluck and stick to it -
Played yesterday. My wife and I joined a friend from work and hit a course at twilight. It's going to take some time to put the swing back together. The last time I played I was in the 260+ range, and yesterday I stepped on the first tee at 226.4. Sadly, I got tired pretty quickly and for a few holes only hit tee shots and then watched my wife have a great time. I did play 18 with a good tee shot, crappy second, good 3rd and 2 putts for a par. I might take a week or two off to just work on getting my stamina back.

Constipated after surgery
Makulafamy replied to kathyk1256's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hahah...i talk about poop all the time on my blog. That's how we learn! I used to go at least twice a day before I started this journey. Now...not so much. here are somethings to think about: 1. You are eating a lot less (I assume) and if you are only 2 weeks post op I bet you havent been eating much solid food. Less solid food = less poop. 2. Are you drinking enough water? You get to have enough water to make a healthy stinker. 3. If you are still on liquids you could do the occasional smoothy from a chain place like Smoothie King. Check out the nutritional info when you go in bc some are not that good for you...but you can have a shot of fiber added to your smoothy. 4. Once you can eat again you can try fiber bars, etc. 5. If I feel like I am really backed up I take a stool softner. Just hang out near a toliet bc about 5 hours after taking one its GO TIME. I feel so much better after I do it though. I have come to the conclusion i will never again have that healthy c-shaped poop that dr. oz talks about on Oprah. Nowadays I settle for chicken nugget shape. Good luck. You can doo it! -
Tomorrow is my day!
GoddessMoon replied to GoddessMoon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel good actually! I came home on 12-3. I am suprised how good I feel. The nurses were saying I need to be motivation for the other patients because as soon as I came to when they moved me to my room I got in my regular pjs with a nurses help and I got up and moving. I walked 3 times a day. My bp was up most the time but the last few hrs I was in there it was stable. The hospital broth did not agree with me so I ate jello and popsicles mostly and drank water. The gas wasn't so bad either..I finally passed gas 2nd day and had a bm before I left and another when I got home. My inscions are good. They told me not to cover them as they have a liquid sealant on them and they are already itching like crazy. I lost 4pounds while in there 3 days...only thing is hard right now is getting my liquids in to be honest. It is a struggle but my surgeon said he does them a little smaller than most but it will get better as the weeks come. He wanted to see me again on Thurs but I do not live close by so he told me switch to soft foods Friday and come see him on the 14th for a check up. I dont regret anything at all. -
Well the regimine for me was supposed to be 1 oz of fluid every 15 mins. Are you doing that? I think I had trouble the first couple days meeting my quota but by day 3 or 4 it was all good. Keep trying! :001_tongue: It gets easier.

Hello Marissa! Congrats and welcome to the club! I just had my surgery a couple weeks ago. For starters I remember being really excited and the feeling of wanting it to feel real and doing the things within my power to get going lol. The Drs will instruct you on your journey of what to do and all the different people on here have different instructions. Make sure to follow what your Dr has laid out for a plan. I did small things like I bought tiny silverware to practice eating smaller bites and eating slower and measuring out 2TBSP and 1/4 cup of whatever I was eating first so I could get used to the visual of what that looks like because my Drs kept saying that after m my surgery I would only be able to eat about 2TBSP and eventually 1/4-1-2 cup. I also bought some bracelets from Amazon with lbs lost and encouraging words on them to mark my small victories. These we're just a few small things I could do that made me feel likeTHIS IS HAPPENING!!!! PS my surgery went really really well. There are always parts of getting used to your new life that will b be a struggle but you get over those humps. There are lots of nice, encouraging, knowledgeable, and helpful people here and your Drs office are always available too! Sent from my LG-Q710AL using BariatricPal mobile app

How Long Do You Stay Full?
unbesleevable1 replied to Noor1969's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am hungry about every 1-3 hours depending on what I've eaten. Full liquids or yogurt type foods last the shortest time. Dense Proteins last the longest. Also fullness lasts longer if I don't drink for an hour or more after eating. -
Im 24 weeks out and only lost 40pounds...I know how you feel. What im starting to do is low carb and a regular exercise. Best of luck to us both! Sent from my LGLS775 using the BariatricPal App
