Im only 3 months out but I cant say whether or not my hunger is back. I guess I can say its not back full force yet. I have gone through periods where I thought I was over the top hungry only to find out I wasnt and I get full quick. Ive also gone through a phase where I wanted to eat whatever I could get ahold of or I wanted to snack for no real good reason. Currently I am in a phase right now where Im not bothered if I eat at all. So its a real struggle and I can relate to you when you say you dont want to eat sometimes because your full from the meal you ate earlier. It seems odd sometimes tho lol

Welcome Steve. This is a very informational forum and lots of nice ppl here willing to help. As far as the pre op diet yep that can be a rough one but after the 4th day for me I was doing good, not as crabby less hungry and I didnt have a problem getting through the next week and then it was surgery time. Set your eyes on the prize and you will do just fine

Eating carbs (pasta, rice, or bread )
Crisscat replied to New_me_2022's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Same here. I am 3 months post op and what I have found is after I eat my protein first I really cant get much more in such as potatoes, rice, bread or pasta. If I am craving potatoes I will have about a tablespoon full and its hit or miss if I am able to eat it or not. I tend to just stay away from it because its not worth eating too much and having adverse effects from it. I tend to pick my battles with mash lol -
Ditto to what catwoman7 said. I bought a recliner in case I couldnt sleep in bed. I was in the recliner approximately 2 days and slept horribly. I decided I would try my bed and I did much better. I moved a bit gingerly within that first week but I experienced no issues after 1 week and slept like a baby literally lol

I never had a sleep study done but I can say before surgery I was up 2-3 times a night constantly waking up and having to go to the bathroom. Since surgery 3 months ago I have been sleeping the whole night, in fact I noticed a few weeks after surgery I wasnt waking up for whatever reasons anymore. Happy to say for me I am sleeping better after the weight loss I have. I hope you will notice a big difference as well

I was able to tolerate eggs pretty good. I just wasnt bothered to eat them that soon. I am just now 3 months post op and eat them more than I did starting out after surgery.

Im 3 months post op currently and I was more or less doing what your doing. I wasnt getting enough calories intake and I became weakish. I increased my protein and fluids which I initially found hard to do but things are leveling off for me. I was told today to not eat more than a cup of food. Currently I can only get somewhere between 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup so I still have a way to go lol.

My biggest hurdle was the pre op diet lol. But after week one it wasnt so bad. As everyone else has mentioned the nerves and anxiety comes naturally. Day of my surgery I was chit chatty to the point of not shutting up. I talked to anyone and everyone and as they were wheeling me in to surgery I guess they had enough because they knocked me out before they even transferred to the surgery table LOL, Best thing that happened to me because I didnt have time to think about it before I was sound asleep ha! 😛 You will do just fine best wishes to you

One friend was back at a desk job after a week. Another took three weeks. Me, I took four. My blood pressure was very low (always a tendency pre surgery), my thinking was doughy & my energy was low. You can never really predict how you will recover. You may find it helpful to keep your return to work flexible with your employers just in case. Like have a second week off available if you need it &/or part time/reduced hours options available too.

Yikes! I think Hop_Scotch was merely trying to explain that various factors could be contributed to a stall and sometimes knowing if a change has occurred or not could be a factor as to whether or not a stall is taking place. I think I can simply answer your question if you'd like. Common only applies to the person who is experiencing it. For myself I lost I think 22 lbs quickly before my pre op, then being on pre op I lost some more. Post surgery I lost 14 lbs in about 9 says then BOOM a stall. I was in that stall for 5 weeks. No weight loss no weight gain. I was not working out to the extent you do because I am pending a knee replacement so I have some mobility issues. After the 5 week stall I then began losing weight again without any problem but at a much slower rate which for me was disheartening as I thought I should be losing more but according to my team I am losing at an average rate of speed and amount. There are loads of threads on the dreaded stall. You could do a search for them if you prefer to read what others have posted versus having to provide your details.

Dr said 5-7 days but I took 2 weeks because I had the time I could burn from work. I was anticipating for any problems to arise but I didnt have a single one outside of a pesky stitch that wasnt cooperating lol

Monthly weigh in and measurements
Crisscat replied to liveaboard15's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yep your exactly right. I voiced my concerns on my weight loss and it not being enough but I lost 12 lbs in 1 month since my last appt. My team is happy where I am at for the amount of weight I loss and told me to stop beating myself up over it, They said the very same as you catwoman7.....Im within the average range of weight loss for 3 months post op. Thank you for the pep talk and liveaboard15 keep up the good work. I actually wrote down my last months measurements and of course I lost them so I wrote down this months measurements and hopefully I can compare them next time. I need to do it in excel like you did lol -
I used a straw a couple weeks after surgery. as for vitamins. its more about finding what works best for you. Its trial and error to find one that wont make you throw up or feel nausea. I personally take 1 of these a day. and even these cause me to throw up every once in a while.

Pre qualifications for surgery
ShoppGirl replied to Readyforchange75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn’t have surgery with Carrum but can tell you that the length of time the process takes is dictated mostly by the insurance company. Some require a 3 or 6 month weight loss attempt where a doctor weighs you every month. Also most require a psyc evaluation and you may also have to do some medical tests to determine you are fit for surgery to name a few of the common requirements. Beyond that, it will just depend on how busy your doctor is. Once I had completed my requirements it was about a month till my surgery. -
I planned for 2 weeks but I was able to do desk work a few days later. I work from home though so I don't know how I would've done with a lot of people around me. The only pain I had was a sore throat for the first 2 days. I knew better this time around and chewed on Mylanta minis for gas pain. While the pain wasn't bad at all for me, I did feel tired like the others for awhile so your plan sounds about right. No field work for a few weeks just so you can let your body have the best possible healing.

I've slowed as well. I'm also in the middle of week 3. This is to be expected.
-
I've been the same weight for a week. In the middle of my 4th ×ek.

No, it's not common. There, I answered your question since you don't like it when people try to help you out by figuring out why you stalled so early.. Cheers.

1 week post of and severe diarrhea
momof41988 replied to switchwitch's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery July 6 and I was the same way for the first like 2 1/2 weeks. I could barely make it to the bathroom. But I still have a few episodes if something doesn't settle right with my stomach but it's not near as bad as it was. Hope yours get better soon. How to get information before acquiring specific insurance
AmandaD. posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hello everyone! Currently I am not under my employers insurance plan yet. They list three different companies/plans: Aetna Choice POS ii (open) Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO United Healthcare Choice plus I am trying to get more information in the months to come on specifics (pre op requirements, if I need to go to a "center of excellence", etc.) I spoke to my job's HR dept. and they only gave me their medical benefits PDF which includes a very vague breakdown of their own requirements (BMI over 40, nutritionist, psych, physical commitment) other than that they just state to add whatever requirements are listed on the specific insurance policy. I thought it would be as easy as just calling these three companies and asking them their requirements based off of specific plans and I keep getting the run around. Most state that they can assist until I have enrolled so they can see specifics, but my jobs HR states I should be able to call and ask ahead of time. Do I need to wait until I enroll? I was hoping to call each company so I can compare/contrast pros/cons (I would prefer only needing 3 months of dietician, etc. rather than 6, etc.) but it seems I have to just (sort of) blindly pick one and hope for the best? I guess I assumed that each plan has it's own specific requirements set it stone, and then possible other ones that my job may add in... just seems a lot more difficult to try to get everything organized before diving in. Thank you!! -
My surgery date is August, 29th and I start my 2 week liquid on the 15th.

Welcome to the July Peeps and also to the site. I'm sorry about your stall. That has to be frustrating going that long without the scales moving. After I lost 12.6 in week one, I lost 5.6 in week two and only 2.6 in week three. I need to be happy that I''m 20 lbs down but it feels like my progress has slowed to a crawl. At my 2-week post-op visit my surgeon told me not to worry about it. It's temporary and my body was going through changes. Many on the forum have mentioned a "Week 3 stall", so you are not the only one this happens to. It's temporary and you should break out of it soon.

Reprogramming the swallowing center
kcuster83 replied to KimA-GA's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I reprogrammed before surgery also. Started counting my chews and learning to sip rather than chug. Put your fork down between bites while you are chewing. Then your mind isn't already preparing for the next bite and you will focus more on chewing the food already in your mouth. Sipping sucked. I drink a lot and always have chugged. But I managed. I am just about 4.5 months post op, I still count and put the fork down while I eat. As far as water, I chug now and it doesn't bother me at all. Probably don't chug as much as I used to, but definitely chugging. 5/6 big drinks/gulps at a time. I started sipping, tiny tiny sips (1oz cup was 2 or 3 sips) and just naturally it got easier and easier until I realized I was taking normal sips and then it excelled from there. -
I took off 2 weeks, when I went back the third week I worked "what I could". I was not in physical pain except when I found myself hunching forward at my desk it would start to hurt my abdomen. But, my job is mentally draining and very demanding. I was exhausted by lunch and went home half days most of that week. By week 4 I was pretty much completely back to normal and kept up with the full time.
