    I Feel So Weak

I was told 100mcg a day for the b12. I was tired too on the 10th day...I am 22 days out now and i went back to work this week and I still feel better than i did on day 10. I too thought that something was wrong but there wasnt i had blood drawn and all that good stuff. just keep the water bottle to your lips when you are supposed to and sip sip sip. I know its so annoying when we say that but I promise you that you will be able to suck it down much faster very soon.. I can get through 66 oz and more at this point. you just have to focus on it...and if you need a nap take one..it will get better I promise.
  2. Yes, I know all about the impatient part. But now I look back and time has gone by. I was banded on Jan. 19th 2007. I was playing tennis after 2 weeks. After about 1 week I never experienced the gas pain again. I know everyone is different, but I did have an easy recovery. Just take one day at a time and you will start to see the light at the end of the tunnel before you know it. banded Jan. 19th start weight 212 weight today 170 Goal weight 150ish
  3. Hi. I had my surgery on sep 14. Lost 30 up to today . I am stalling for 3 weeks maybe more. I meet my nutritionist for the first time after surgery . She told me I should take fruit and vegetable with my protein. My surgeon was so against fruit . She told me no fruit or just few berries only. But the nutritionist said the reason I do not Loos weight is because I had too much protein and no fruit or vegetable . How about you guys? Do you eat fruit ? How much a day ? Thanks

    What about the psych. eval...?

I just had the psych consult this last week. I have never been to a psych for myself before, and its very unnerving for them to write down what you say LOL. Other than that, he just asked me about the surgery, why I wanted it, why I though I had a weight promblem and what I hoped to accomplish with the surgery. He did say I will probally have to come back and take a questioneer thing, but insurance most likely wont' pay for it...so not looking forward to dishing out another 150.00. I'm poor ya know. (the only stress I could think of was MONEY ) lol...so then he tells me this! LOL Melissa
  6. Ah. I started Metamucil within 2 weeks, maybe sooner. I am pretty sure my doc told me I could immediately. Gas has not been a problem w the chili though. Not eating that much. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Advice for an oblivious girl!

Thank you everyone. Today there was a new incident today. I broke up with my boyfriend of 5 years ago 2 and a half years ago. Nadine broke up with her boyfriend of 5 years 2 years ago. I have had an on and off again relationship with somebody for nearly 2 years. Nadine was seeing somebody for a year. Danielle was engaged to a loser, she was with him for 2 and a half years, they moved in together after 2 weeks. He proposed with a $200 gemstone ring- by saying he had a bulge in his pocket for her. She just broke up with him 3 weeks ago. This guy was a thirty something year old virign (before her) who never had a relationship and who was into his figurines and sci-fiction more than her. She endied up leaving him. She told Nadine today that she is going to take our positive traits and become a better version of us. She is going to work out our flaws and use them to improve herself. In addition to this it won't be hard for her to find love because she doesn't date assholes like we do. Keep in mind before her "engagement" she had one few month relationship in high school, and she dated an illegal immigrant for a couple of months in college-there was a huge communication barrier. Yet she is the expert on relationships? And she is going to be better than us? This is pretty difficult considering how great Nadine and myself are. But who says this stuff. Another incident-A couple of weeks ago Nadine Danielle Jessica and myself went for dinner. Nadine slipped up about my surgery to Danielle. Jessica had no idea. During dinner she began asking questions about my surgery and when I was going to go for a fill. Nadine nipped that in the butt because she knew I was getting pissed. But Danielle knew that I was pissed Nadine slipped up about my surgery, she also knew that I didn't want anybody to know. Thank you all for listening to me as I vent. Im just perpleaxed.

    Need friend in Kansas City

I am trying to see Dr. Malley have an appt with him Oct. 20th! He has a new doctor coming in Aug. then I should be able to get in and get a fill. That is where I want to go. Yesterday went to Surgerical Weightloss Centers they gave me some directions. I don't think they have it together. I went and got some chili from Wendys I heard that was an option. You are not being bitchy but helpful! I think I am in my second week if I had surgery July 4th, correct? We are sticking frozen foods in the blender after we cook it. They have a thick consistency is that okay or should I go buy just baby food and stick with that? I haven' had any solid foods in a while so I am really watching it. What about if you made a roast and ground that up, is that okay? Thanks for helping me out!

    Need friend in Kansas City

I know some that did eat baby foods but personally YUCK! and a lot of my band friends threw stuff in the blender like roasts and said they tasted great again I just couldn't get past it. Once I switched over to the creamy/mushy phase at the 14th day I was all over the various cheese Soups if they had veggies in them I either gummed them to oblivion or fished them out. I couldn't be bothered to do the whole blender thing like I should have. I also made a variety of Protein puddings by mixing whey protein powders with instant sugar free puddings. (Chocolate, Cheesecake, Lemon or Lime, etc..) Later I discovered an even healthier option where I would blend Cottage Cheese until smooth and replace most of the milk called for in the pudding recipe with that instead. It had a much higher protein to carb ratio and tasted great. Most people think it sounds disgusting but really it tastes very creamy like you made it with whole milk (no hint of salty at all) Oh and if you freeze the puddings for a while before you eat them and stir them up they taste like eating soft serve ice cream. Yummy. Right now one of my favorite protein rich foods is Cottage Cheese with some Yogurt and a Cherry or Rasberry Crystal Light bottle Water packet stirred in. I've just been feeling too lazy to take the time to blend up the puddings and mess up the kitchen. But I'm not sure if cottage cheese would be considered "soft" enough for the 14 day mark. This stage was SO HARD for me but I just kept repeating to myself I can put up with anything for just a couple weeks and being self pay I couldn't risk the possibility of having to pay for any complications much less the loss of money with more time off work without pay. Speaking of work, one of these days I may need to talk to you about the whole teeth whitening thing. I'd love to do it but always assumed too expensive. Tried one of those home kits once and was VERY sore and dissapointed though I managed to get my money back. I personally think I would need veneers to do any good on my teeth. (though I'm not nor ever was a smoker)
  11. I had my surgery on October 8. I weigh in once a week...every Monday morning. Anyway, as of this a.m. I've lost 102 pounds. Not too shabby. This procedure has literally enabled me to reclaim my health. Blood work is perfect. No longer have sleep apnea. Actually don't need to guess whether or not I'll fit into a booth at a restaurant. I bought jeans at the Gap the other day. To be able to walk into a normal store and buy something off the rack felt pretty darn good. But, I hadn't realized how expensive things at the Gap had become. $59.95 for jeans? Really? Anyway, not a day goes by the I don't get incredibly nice compliments from friends and acquaintances. I've still got about 35 pounds to go and have no doubt I'll get there. Hope everyone is well.
  12. My Dr suggested waiting a year after to lose weight and just be healthier. I think its just a good idea to be your healthiest before getting pregnant but that is my opinion. I waited 14 months and I was off any and all medications I was on, my blood pressure was down and my blood sugar was normal. If I would have gotten pregnant earlier, Im sure I would have been high risk. As of now I have no problems and have only gained 6 lbs in 22 weeks.
  13. I am 9 weeks post op. I gave up protein shakes after 4 weeks when I was allowed to, I'm not a huge milk drinker. I get all of my protein with food. Typically I have 2 eggs for breakfast with turkey sausage. If I don't have that then it's 3/4 of non-fat greek yogurt with 1/4 cup of nuts and 1/4 of berries. Tuna with salad for lunch and some sort of protein with a vegetable for dinner. I'll have 1/4-1/2 cup of fruit after lunch. I'm not a big snacker but I'm fortunate that I can 4 ounces of protein typically so I don't need to snack. I usually come in at 650-750 a day.

Mom, which ones did you try? I tried the Grape and didn't care much for it and I've been a bit concerned about it and now I'm starting to think, after surgery taste buds are going to change and really it's going to be a struggle to get anything down and clear phase is about a week so it's not going to matter too much. I heard there's a green one that's not bad, and I thought I'd try to find that and maybe add a squirt of green MIO or something fruity and add Black Cherry MIO. Unfortunately, I get migraines if I use too many artificial sweeteners, and there are some that cause a bloaty feeling, so I would rather not sweeten things if I don't have to. The only artificial sweetener lately that doesn't have that effect on me is Truvia. Too bad more things weren't made with it for me.

Burning More Calories Than You Eat

Myfitnesspal is the best. I'm only 10 weeks out from surgery and am still intensly focused on getting to my goal, so I try to only net between 300-500 calories. I eat about 300 calories per meal (Protein, veggies, fruit), 3 meals a day plus a snack in the afternon if needed. I also run every day, which burns enough calories to help me stay in my net range. It's different for everyone. I met with my nutritionist and reveiwed my plan. She made a few suggestions but said calorie wise I'm at a good target for me.

June 2005 Bandsters. Where you at???

I think it's kind of interesting that a few of us (small sample I know) are in a stall. I had about a two month stall and now it's sort of starting moving again. Must be part of the journey to plateau at the 6-7 month mark, eh? Weird. Well, we all need to stay strong and keep going!! We know what to do, right? The holidays are over, now BACK ON TRACK! You know, you probably know everything we know. It's just dedication! Exercise and watching what you eat which is SOOO much easier with the band in place. Wishing you tons of bandster luck and LOTS of motivation!!!

Ins Company Called, Should I Be Concerned

Don't be concerned. It's most likely a Bariatric Nurse Case Manager. I'm with Anthem Blue Cross and a woman nurse contacted me about three days after I was approved. It's really great! It's part of your insurance benefits and free to you. They know you're about to undergo a MAJOR SURGERY and lifestyle change and want to be sure you know what to expect and give you support. My NCM and I talked over 3-4 conversations, she asked a lot of questions to make sure I was doing all I could pre-op to be healthy, knew what the hospital stay would be like, etc. She was very sweet, knowledgable and I know I can call her now if I have any questions or concerns. GOOD LUCK!

Woooohooo i got approved today !

So happy for you! I am one-week post-op today and trying to have a narcotic-free day. So far so good but will probably do morphine tonight if I'm this uncomfortable when I go to bed. Haven't lost much but am okay with that for now. Keep on, everyone!

    hair loss ???

I also noticed hair loss at about 5 months. My sugeons' office does'nt think it's due to weight loss since I'm a slow looser. In my last blood panel done by my GP they said my thyroid was low and to recheck in a month. The surgeons office said low thyroid could cause hair loss and perhaps explain why I am a slow looser. I need to go back for the thyroid blood test soon. I've been taking Bioten for about 3 weeks can't say I've seen a reduction in hair loss.

  24. I had surgery in 2006 and lost 280 pounds over all over the course of six years… In the past three years I gained back 90 pounds… Last year I had an endoscopy and upper G.I. and they discovered I had a hiatal hernia and some staple adhesions… And recommended a revision… The surgeon I went to told me that he could leave the new smaller stomach and they now remove the excess old stomach… They no longer leave your stomach in there or he doesn't… And doing my research I understood a revision patient usually loses 2 to 3 pounds a month… My doctor said when he got in there… He found a fistula which was a complication from the first surgery which most likely cause my weight gain… A week after surgery… Today I got on the scale and I lost 13 pounds… Was totally shocked and not expecting that so I am wondering since I had that fistula this new revision is kickstarting my weight loss and I will see great success question? Anyone that had a revision care to share their weight-loss story with me after the revision Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
