The one I had didn't have that many grams of sugar. Only had 9 I think, I looked at their regular yogurt and the sugar was really high, but the drinks aren't.

Looking at the nutrition info with 20 grams of sugar that seems kind of high for a yogurt drink. I am only 4 weeks post op. Perhaps someone else with a lot more experience can provide more info. ...just got real!
prettyCali916 replied to prettyCali916's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Update: I have a cold no bueno. I haven't really wanted to eat anything the past couple of days but I know I need to force it down. So far I've added chowder, eggs, chili, lunch meat and Greek yogurt to my allowed foods. Next week - the 29th - I go to all foods. Slowly. I do think I might stay here for a while with these foods because I haven't been able to consistently get in my Protein and Water. When I can do that for at least 5 days straight, I think I'll be good. Hopefully I can do that this week. I'll weigh in tomorrow. Hoping for at least under 260 this time. Haven't started working out really, just light weights. But i will start cardio this Friday when I return from Palm Springs. Hubby is going with me to make sure I'm good. Lol! He's so overprotective these days... -
VSG in OCT 2011.. Ice water/ hunger question?
CowgirlJane replied to breecheez's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Have you tried changing the habit, and stop eating ice? I have a big sports drink drinking bottle I put ice in the Water but since I can't get to the ice with the top on, I'd never think of eating it. I am guessing you are experiencing acid but that is just a guess. Try proselec for a few weeks. When I had a lapband excess acid made me overeat things like yogurt, frozen yogurt, soft ice cream etc. In hindsight I realize I was self medicating for acid I didn't know I had. I think you need to find a bariatric center of excellence for a check up -my gut feeling is that you should be checked because you used the word painfully to describe your hunger. I was sleeved in 2011 and I don't feel pain, just pangs or twinge of hunger when it is time to eat. -
I started at 364 and in 6 mo I'm down to 260. Been stalled for 3 weeks- wondering if this is the end. I have been eating about 1200 calories is that too much? My surgeon does not have a NUT. I'm eating mostly protein. For instance yesterday I had a premier protein, then a triple zero Greek yogurt, decaf coffee w SF creamer, then for lunch 3oz of turkey breast, and 1/4 c of butternut squash, snack had 100 calorie cashew pack, dinner I had 3 oz salmon w 1/4 avocado. And a snack later on a weight watcher cheese stick. And 64 oz of water w sliced oranges in it - over the day. You think it's too many carbs? Or calories ? Ugh!

Losing very slowly - can anyone tell me if I'm doing something wrong?
Kindle replied to richdan's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
1) your nut is an idiot by setting too high of expectations. I was down 17 pounds at 2 1/2 months and I never considered myself a slow loser. 2) drink more Water. You should shoot for 64 oz but more is better....I get closer to 100oz most days. 3)as for loriemoms nut saying shakes are artificial Protein, she, too, is an idiot. whey protein is simply the liquid portion of milk that settles to the top during the cheese making process....just like what settles out of yogurt or cottage cheese. There's nothing artificial about it. In fact, it is the number one, fastest, best absorbed form of protein available. Better than meat, eggs, tofu, fish, etc. GENEPRO, however IS artificial. It is a chemically modified molecule that started out as protein but no longer is. The company is a quack and cannot provide any amino acid profile for their product and has absolutely no science based studies supporting their claims or even show if our bodies can absorb it. Anyone with a basic understanding of biochemistry can look at their product and see it's not really protein. Good luck, you are doing great! -
Trouble finding a variety of foods I can eat well...
Athenyx replied to butterfly40's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is all stuff I'm eating on my blended but it might give you some ideas: Try some low fat cottage cheese (you can mix in a little sweet chilli sauce or some chopped cherry tomatoes), blend some meat (chicken or turkey or even white fish) with gravy and put it in your mash (potato, sweet potato or vegetables), order some special high Protein puddings or milkshakes (I got some vanilla puddings from protein.com and they were amazing - I think 15g of protein and around 100kcal), have scrambled eggs (a lot of protein in eggs, just crack two of 'em with seasoning in a pan), smooth porridge, low fat custard or rice pudding, low fat Greek yogurt, fromage frais, or tuna fish in low cal tomato sauce! Hope some of these help - if grits is high in carbs it probably doesn't help you much. Not that I've ever had it before!! And make sure you use very low fat cheese or milk and don't add butter to things! ???????????? -
Losing very slowly - can anyone tell me if I'm doing something wrong?
richdan posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi. I'm new here. I had my sleeve the beginning of December. My weight at the time of surgery was 262. Here I am 2-1/2 months out and I've only lost 36 pounds. I went to the support meeting and the nut said I should be losing faster and told me we'll talk at my next appointment -- the end of next month! It's close to impossible to get an appointment. I would like to correct whatever I'm doing wrong before that. I am looking around for a bariatric nut but that's not going well either. In a typical day I will have a yogurt with GENEPRO, cottage cheese, a Syntrax nectar drink, and a shake. I always go over 60g of Protein and a minimum of 50 ounces of Water. I have been exercising 30 minutes a day and I switch it around, even doing the steepest incline on the treadmill. I do not eat meat. I haven't cheated on any kind of food I'm not supposed to have. If anyone can tell what I'm doing wrong, I'd be so thankful. -
My surgeon considers yogurt a liquid. Anything that is pain related is a call to your surgeon. You are too early out for anyone here to guess with you or reassure you. Keep posting. You're doing great!

Low BMI slow losing encouragement thread
RuralNurse replied to itstimealready's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I started on day of surgery at 189.5 and today (one day shy of 6 weeks) was 169. I really focus on vegetables, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, (both good protein) and lean meat. I will start adding some fruit in this next week. But I avoid Pasta, rice, bread, or any simple carbs. I also drink tons of Water and herbal tea. I really feel that lower carb is the most healthy for me. I have done low carb in the past and could never really stick to it. But this surgery has changed my hunger and appetite and has enabled me to eat to live instead of live to eat. -
I had my RNY on Tuesday, and am tolerating liquids ok. I was also able to mix 1/2 scoop of Protein shake powder with 8oz of Water, and sipped 1oz every 15 minutes, as advised by my surgeon. However, when I tried a teeny bit of yogurt, I had heartburn for 3 hours. I have to crush up my Nexium and anxiety medicine, and the taste literally makes me heave when mixed with water or Crystal Light. So that's why I tried the yogurt. I literally had maybe 1/4 of a teaspoon. So now I'm not sure when to try it again. I'm also finding that a few of my incisions are starting to itch. They were closed and a medical glue put over them, and I will not scratch them, but it's becoming more difficult not to. I hope tomorrow to have the courage to try one of the Bariatric Pal Soups, since I'm supposed to be able to try strained cream soups. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using BariatricPal

Travel exactly one month post op
MzB replied to Mzerica619's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am glad you are going to go. I went to Mexico City on a business trip at just under 4 weeks out. It went fine, no one even knew I had the surgery. hahah. However, I will say I had no nausea almost from day one which made it easier I think. That is a hard one to judge before you actually have the surgery. The hotel had plenty of options (as should anywhere you go in Hawaii) for soft foods. I made sure I ate Breakfast (scrambled eggs, yogurt) and put a greek extra Protein yogurt in my room for later. There is always soup options everywhere. One thing to remember, on long flights you NEED to stay hydrated! Take extra Water with you and set a reminder to drink it. Hydrate all you can while you are there too. Have a great trip. -
They told us just no large chunky yogurts, tiny pieces were ok.

@@pedro, I'm 7 days out from bypass today. From the start I've been able to drink as much as I want, hot or cold doesn't matter. But today a went to full liquids and had 1/2 a Greek yogurt. Gas pain was horrible. Now I'm afraid to do anything but liquids. -
Hopefully she meant yogurt without bits in it. Since it caused you discomfort, you could dilute it with milk and strain it.
-
No unless you have additional symptoms. They told me the zero yogurt was the best.
-
So I'm two days out and my nutritionist advised I could ear dannon light and fit yogurts in any flavor. While eating the coconut and pineapple I had a small piece of pineapple, more like a shred, go down. Painful but the pain subsided. Could I have damaged the sleeve?

Found a yogurt drink in Walmart called Powerful Yogurt. Tastes like I remember a Yoohoo. 160 calories and 20g protein. Thought I'd share if you hadn't seen it before. (Tried to do a pic and it wouldn't work)

I do in a little way like spicy foods where I didn't so much before. But I stay away from the really hot & spicy for fear of really bad heartburn. I haven't had any before and i don't want to start now. I did stall, and in fact I am in one now. I have stayed the same for almost 6 weeks but am fitting into smaller clothes so 'm guessing am losing inches? When I stall I go to a few more shakes a day and increase my veggie intake. I try to stay around 1200 cal. a day. I seem to do very well around that. So, now being stalled I have cut back some to hopefully shock my system. Not easy I do get hungry. But that is when I head for the yogurt, almonds, a few wheat thins, piece or two of Kraft 2% cheese, not individually wrapped, can't stand that stuff it tastes like rubber. I also only eat rye or wheat bread. I won't lie there are some tough days, but you make it through. Or you cheat a little and then go through a huge guilt trip, at least I do and I get mad at myself for doing it. No one is perfect, but you can and will do it. -
Purée Diet - I'm so lost
Jessee3897 replied to kalea_04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on purées and I'm 11 days out (sleeve). Foods that don't have to be pureed as per my nut are white fish (small bites), cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese. Everything else must be pureed. I asked about the different fruits that may seem sift or if I thoroughly steamed broccoli. She said those have to be pureed because of the Protein fibers an that your tummy can't digest. At this point I am eating lots of milk and cheese. Looking forward to what others say. eggs made my tummy gurgle. Oh the ricotta bake, that was yum. Sent from my 6045O using BariatricPal -
What would you do different?

Get a body pillow if you're a side sleeper. It was a life saver in the early days. If you have a sonic near by grab a bag of ice. It is great for munching on. I also made too much Jello, got too much pudding and yogurt. -

fat_free said it all. I had too much Soup, broth, and yogurt on hand, our church food pantry is stocked up now. I did great with the sugar free pudding and Jello, but your taste buds are insane. -
What would you do different?
fat_free replied to 406sleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@406sleever. The one thing I would do differently was to not stock up on too much. My taste buds went crazy and things I used to like I could not stand the taste of. I had bought lots of sugar free fat free puddings, Syntrax Protein drinks, (all different kinds of flavours) only to find out I could not stand them after surgery. So moderation. It's really not that long before you are mobile enough to get to a store. By my bed I kept my large container of Water measured out. That way I knew how much I had to get in at a minimum for the day. Then I used the small Dixie cups to sip from and made myself sip through one every 15 min. This worked out to getting my full 2 litres (approx 8 cups) in by the end of the day. I really didn't keep much by my side as I want to make a point of getting up and walking to get things as much as possible. I did keep milk, juice, broth and Protein Drinks available but to be honest everything tasted so sweet to me that I couldn't stomach much those first few days. Once I started feeling up to heading out to the store I would go and pick out a few new items to try if my things weren't working out. Tried sugar free fat free pudding, Greek yogurt (plain sugar free) once I moved to soft foods...7-10 days out ( I actually don't remember the exact time frame from Clear liquids to the next stage). All the best and welcome to the losers bench -

I drank and still do Premier Protein 30 gr. protein. Tastes very good and you can get it at Sam's. My taste did change. Before surgery I loved chewing ice constantly now not so much. Love vegetable blends, now don't really care for them. Didn't really care for pork chops before surgery now I really like them. It's kind of weird. Little things I always liked now not so much. But then foods I never ate and refused to like Greek Yogurt by Yoplait, I eat like crazy now, only 100 cal and it tastes great. Good for a fill in between meals. I only love the Peach. But in the end it is all worth it. You can do it.....I did and I had a lot of weight on me even after losing 100lbs. before surgery. I have now lost an additional 85 - 100. You can do it
