  1. What a great NSV! You should be doing the happy dance!

    Yay!

232 today...after going from 238 on my home scale the day of my last doctor's appt two weeks ago, then going down to 234 on my liquid diet, and then back up to 240, I am finally starting to see some downward movement, even though it's only a few pounds in the last two weeks, I'll take it. I'm only 2 pounds away from hitting the 100 pound down mark! oh and NSV--my size 18 jeans that were super tight a few weeks ago now are falling down. I need a belt, only my waist is too wide for regular sized belts right now without feeling squished. Also, a ran into an old friend last weekend who looked at me, did a double take and was like, wow, you're looking great. Now he's known me for many years, and I don't think he's seen me at my heaviest, so that's a compliment for sure. I've gotten into a better groove with eating. I'll eat healthy 90% of the time and then allow myself the occasional fast food fix or junk food, but I look at the calories before I eat it and make sure it's nothing crazy. For example, I had a grilled chicken to go wrap from Wendy's 250 calories for lunch and another day I was going to allow myself a taco supreme from taco bell 200 calories, but then I thought it would be too messy to eat at work so I ate a healthy choice frozen meal instead. I've been trying to eat breakfast so sometimes I have a mini blueberry muffin, one day I had the low fat starbucks blueberry coffee cake which I'm sure used up the majority of my daily calories, but it was so good. I did skip lunch that day and had a super healthy dinner, so it worked out. I have to watch it right when I get home from work because that is when I'm stressed and tired and want to pig out, so I try to go to the gym or plan something with my boyfriend for that time. I eat 2 tablespoons of crunchy peanut butter some days at that time to hold me over until dinner. Dinner has been good because I get really solid protein food like chicken breasts and peas or last night it was steak and lobster tail. Since my fill is good, I can only eat a very small portion, but I'm full when I eat it, so it works out great. 3 meals and a snack in between lunch and dinner seem to keep me away from the ravenous hunger stage. I have to eat different things or I get bored and want to revert to crappy food.

remedina no more meds!!!! - it's an amazing feeling isn't it you'll love each and every one of your NSV's through your trip to better health, and happiness, and a longer life!! keep up the great work 35 lbs down, down, and dirty you are winning the game!!! continued good luck congrats
  6. So, I've experienced quite a few NSVs as of recent. I can cross my legs (not super comfortably yet, but hey); I'm in a size 14/16, down from a 26; and I see my collarbones. Yay! 2 1/2 months out - 50 lbs lost post surgery and an additional 54 lbs was lost before (on my own, July 2019). I'm walking fast and exercising amazingly. This, all from the woman who got winded walking down the block to her car. Life is good!
  7. This thread reminds me of a story. I have told myself a NSV would be the first time I got hit on at the gym. Well I got to tell everyone (including my wife) that my day had come. I finally got hit on at the gym. Good thing right? NOT!!!! I should be excited, but it turned out to be a late 40's dude dressed like Richard Simmons while I was in the locker room. NOT COOL!!!! Lol.. at least it makes for a good story. I personally like the skinny/sexy people at the gym. Nothing motivates me more than seeing these hot bodies and thinking if I push harder, work longer... one day people will look at me that way.
  8. Hello everyone I have been on this forum for a couple of months now and decided tonight would be the night for me to share my story. My Name is Blannie and I will be starting my pre-op diet on tomorrow. My surgery is September 10th, 2012 with Dr. Marema. I have not always being fat and it wasn't until I was in my 20's when I started this love affair with food. I have had so many disappointments when it has come to men in my life that it is ridiculous. I have tired every diet known to man and had some success but would always gain the weight back and most times double! I am tired of hearing people say when they find out about me having WLS..YOU ARE NOT THAT BIG or why are you taking the easy way out!!!! I have learned from being on this forum that WLS is NOT THE EASY way out!!! I a lifestyle change it is a daily commitment to change your life with the help of the sleeve. We still have to do the work in conjunction with the sleeve and I am so grateful for it. I am doing this FOR ME and I don't care what anybody has to say or think.... So here it is my story: My journey started back in 2010 with me pursing the lap band. After going threw the 6 month pre requirement, nutritionist and pysch evaluation we submitted to my insurance. After a week I was informed that my claim was denied. I was very upset and frustrated because after all why would my insurance deny me? It was during this time that I found out about a requirement that was not told to me while going threw the process. Apparently my insurance (CIGNA) has a requirement that states in order for them to pay the surgeon has to be working at a Cigna Certified Center of Excellence facility. I tried three different ways to have the decision changed. I contacted the State of Florida department of insurance and issued a complaint. I went threw my human resource department and filed a complaint and I wrote a letter of appeal directly to the insurance company. After several weeks of working with my HR advocate I was advised to find a physician that already met the insurance requirements! Thus I found Dr. Marema with US Bariatrics. He was such a nice guy and his staff so accomodating with all the problems I had experienced in the past. He talked about the sleeve and I decided to switch to the sleeve. After meeting Dr.Marema Cigna approved me for the surgery at any facility in FL but I choose to go with Dr. Marema. I am finally excited about something in my life. Other than being a mother to my boys this opportunity to have the sleeve is one of the best things that I had done for myself. Actually it is one of the only things I have done for me..usually I am the last one in my life that I do something FOR! I am so looking forward to being healthy and have NSV's like everyone else... I just would like to be able to wipe my butt and not feel like I am having to lean over and take deep breathes... (I know TMI). Thanks for the support on this page and the information has been priceless. I know what to expect and I am praying the best for everyone on the forum! Blannie

    Shoes, shoes and more shoes!

Get you Ms RosieCheeks-Jimmy Choo's. I have to agree with the feet losing weight though. I've lost a bit from my trotters but the biggest difference is the circumference of my calves. I'm getting into boots that have been relegated to the back of the cupboard for years. Loving it. Mind you, it has saved my neck when my nearest and dearest (Mr 'We're on an economy drive') spied a new pair of boots. I used the 'these old things' line. Of course the excuse works EVERY time as there is no way that a mere man can remember exactly what his woman's footwear looks like from season to season! I am a complete shoeholic so I have to have viable excuses at the ready! Oh the NSVs, especially the ones that keep your addictions flowing! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    And So Our Journey Begins...

Down to 209 today. It feels like my weight loss has picked up a bit in the last month. No complaints here. I wear the HS jeans and they are a bit big in the legs but they look great on me. I have a fantastic wardrobe of clothes that all look amazing on me, some that I plan to shrink into over the next few months. I'm so close to onderland, and I don't know what to do with myself. I haven't been under 200 since probably junior high. So very excited. One major compliment that I got today was my old supervisor said that she went to a seminar at my Surg's office and that I inspired her. I was so beside myself, that was the sweetest thing I could have heard. I told her i'd be there for her if she has any questions, and she said that she planned to talk to me about it more along the way. I've never been told something like that. It was really nice to hear. NSV FTW!

    And So Our Journey Begins...

Another stall day, but it's okay, I'm finally feeling the change in my clothes. My pants are a smidge looser in the waist and a noticeable amount looser in the legs and some of my tops fit just a bit better. So woohoo a baby sized NSV. Onto food. I tried something new for dinner last night, took me an hour to eat, but it was a Guy Fieri Nacho flavored Chicken sausage, it was kind of high in sodium but everything else was good (decent source of protein), and it tasted great. I only ate one (about 3 oz), when before I would have eaten 2 and on a bread of some kind with ketchup most likely and I was really satisfied for hours. I had to force myself to drink a half size protein shake before bed just to make sure I got at least 60g of protein in. Oh I got a new shake flavor!! Body Fortress Strawberry (really like this brand so far, you can find it at Walmart). I had been drinking mostly the chocolate peanut butter and I was so tired of it. But the strawberry was a nice change. And seriously to those that are reading this non-stop, it really means a lot to me and helps me stay motivated during this stall to know that you guys are all out there rooting for me!! I'll be posting pics when I have a more noticable physical change. If you want to see what I do post online I am on Instagram: MistyAnnMoon829 and my daily diet on MFP: MistyAnnMoon829 (Don't you love how original I am with my UN's? )

    I have Collarbones!

Well, I just had surgery a week ago but I've already had one NSV. I got in my car to go drive around and noticed my seat belt was a little looser. I almost maxed it out prior to surgery and now there is a little wiggle room!
  16. Hi Y'all! My poor husband kids are just rolling their eyes at me lately. I guess from their point of view it is silly, but to me it is Huge! I have Collarbones! I have Knees! Okay, so the last one makes me nervous, I don't want to loose my ring, but, HELLO!!!! I am so excited with these new Non Scale Victories! Wonderful for you kid! Keep swimming and this is only the beginning of your NSV. Write them down so you can look at them later and read all the changes you have made and where you are and who you have become and then you will find you will never want to go back...
