Mornin' all... Whoo hoo - a non-work day, and the sun is supposed to shine AND the temp above freezing...happy days are here ! So, once the sun is up, I may get to go into the garden, and do some raking - although I suspect the ground will still be frozen, but still outside playing in the dirt!!:w00t: Until then I will post here, do some inside housework, maybe watch a movie... Beth - congrats on the NSV Heartfire - I love sugar snap peas; wish I could get some fresh ones here, but that's months away yet. Lulu - pear martini? Time to fess up - I've never had a martini in my life, and since being banded I have consumed MAYBE 6 glasses of wine (my choice of alcohol) in total - that's over 14 months. CC and Beth - Will check out 'Knowing' - you're the first people I 'know' who have seen it. Sick - I'm not a cooking snob - pm the recipe to me.

    Non-Scale Victories Thread

Hey all - Well you asked for more NSV's from me. I have to say my latest was on Sunday I went for a 3 mile walk. I can't tell you when the last time was that I could actually do that. Even better still I was pushing my 18 month old son in his stroller the whole way too. Other NSV's for me has been fitting into smaller clothes and even some of those are now starting to be a bit on the loose side. I got my 2nd fill this week and am getting used to that. I am up to 4 cc's now.

    Twenties NSVs

Bah I'm sooo happy/jealous for/of you Jane! Keep it up  So yesterday I was hanging out with my future roommate who just moved to Austin. We went to the mall and had lunch and then she suggested that we go shopping for some clothes for me because it was starting to look like I was wearing sacks for clothes (NSV #1 Haha). Now, as a big guy I've never been able to shop in the mall for clothes. I told her that and she goes "ah well then I'll pick a store." So we head to Pacsun. I've always wanted to be able to shop there, but everything was tooo small. I went in there and tried on some shorts and a shirt, and they all fit! The shorts were 38's and the shirts were XL!! I never thought I would see this day. I love my band!

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Hey Sugarbean! Good for you! You took negative comments, approached her in a appropriate manner and stood up for yourself. Congrats! I'm not nearly as cranky as I was. I know that when I weigh myself on Saturdays I am always at my lowest weight for the week. So, this past week I used that number for the Friday weigh in. Not totally honest, but frankly it made me feel better. In any event, I am going on vacation on Friday and am looking forward to it. I should have a nice relaxing time in the mountains. I really love the mountains. NSV- I RAN yesterday. That wii fit is something else. I never, ever thought I would run! (Granted it was a short run and more like a job, but heck I did it!)

New NSV for me. Dropped a pant size in the last month! Yeah!!!!!!
  10. Today I was able to comfortably fit into a misses 16 pants. Horray for me!!!! BUT tonight when I went shopping for more new clothes I realized that I have no idea how to shop for regular size clothes. If that makes any sense?? I wandered around the clothing department looking at clothes thinking, I'll never be able to wear those and when I picked them up and mentally sized them up I didn't believe that I could wear them or that they could possible look good on me. I know it's a mental thing from years and years of never being able to shop for cute clothes because they did not make them in plus sizes. Also, I am finding that most of the clothes are made for younger girls with out sagging underarms and boobs! Where are the clothes with sleeves that cover my saggy arms!! I still want clothes that cover my older body. I was mainly looking for pants for work and while I realize that it is almost summer, how about some long pants instead of capri's and short shorts. I don't mean to grouch because I'm thrilled to be in smaller sizes, but I need adult styles. Anyone else with this problem?? :scared2:

    What does PB stand for

NSV is "non-scale victory".....that's like when you get on the scale and haven't lost anything in a few days but you put on an item of clothing that hasn't fit. Or somebody compliments you on your weight loss....anything other than pounds lost. You'll come to value the NSVs as much as pounds lost because it asknowledges your hard work.
  12. I keep seeing that acronym, can someone tell me what is stands for? Also NSV? I think it has something to do with vomiting, but I am not sure. thanks, Mary banded 3/5/09 242/227/213/140-150 highest, day of surgery, now, goal

Mel, One of the best suggestions my friends gave me was to slow down when you're trying to jog for longer. After a few times at a certain speed, I can typically speed up a little, even if for only a few minutes. I think I have to be more vigilant about what I'm eating, not just calories and protein. I haven't had any issues with getting food down lately, so it's kinda been "open season" if you know what I mean......because I haven't had any problems with tolerating food, I've been good about eating salads and eating more veggies, but it makes it easier to eat brownies, french fries, and crap I wouldn't normally eat. I bought 2 containers of Unjury and they should be here tomorrow. I've also decided to start walking on my "days off" from running. In a huge NSV for me, I walked 2.5 miles yesterday at a 4.0 WITHOUT BREAKING A SWEAT!!! Ok, I typically look like I've gone swimming in my clothes when I workout. It felt really good to know my body is finally in good condition. Now I just need to go shopping for some headphones. I accidentally left mine in the gym the other night and someone kept them. Jerk. So it's been quiet for me, but a good time to think.... Keep up the great work!

Are you kidding me? I would have taken the day off to stay home and play with it!! You know what, I don't think that is so odd. I got one for my parents for Christmas. To this day, I can't get it to play the photos I loaded into it. I have some odd family as well. I wonder if it is the same family? Let's here it for the sweet spot! It is wonderful when you find it. Okay, I must admit, I personally find men with goatee's to be incredibly sexy. Babygrl, your daughter is beautiful. You can tell how happy and proud she is in those photos. Ebony, congrats on the weight loss and NSV!! Guys, tomorrow I am out of here and headed to Mexico!!!!

PJTP...it's a beautiful sunny morning in my CT neighborhood... Had to drive to work this morning because I missed the train, and I didn't even mind because it's so pretty out! New victory - lost two pounds, and on my way again...wonderful NSV - dropped another pant size! Lane Bryant will not have me as a customer for much longer if this keeps up (and it will!). I started this journey wearing a size Yellow 6 in their Right Fit jeans, and now I'm down to a Red 3, with a 2 not far behind. Once I get down to a Red 1, then I leave the store.:w00t::thumbup: I'm even down a size in my jackets (and my bras), which is a major victory because the 'girls' never seem to want to go anywhere!! Mac - I'm sorry to hear about your car - I've got similar car issues. My beloved Red Caddy (Ruby, dontcha know) failed emissions, and the proposed bill for the fixes (several possible things) is around $3600. I can't replace the car for that, but I also don't want to spend that right now with college bills looming. I've got an appointment with the dealership on April 11th, and CT requires me to spend at least $660 to get an exemption from further emissions-fixing-related-spending. I hope that fixes it - I'm probably at least a year away from being able to purchase a newer car. I love my car, but with over 150K miles, is it really WORTH putting that kind of money into it? Decisions, decisions... Have a terrific day, everyone - I'm in a great mood and just had to share!

PJTP... Busy weekend, now back to work...YUK! Layoffs abounding at the job - not me yet, but heard an entire department was let go...sad. Good productive weekend - replaced the faucet in the kitchen sink with DH, DD had 'Saturday school' cause she skipped some days and didn't tell us - school found out and called us in, we let her have it and then she had to attend saturday stuff. Serves her right... Got updated pics of DGS (Darling GrandSon) over the weekend - will have to see if I can upload them here. He's just adorable and I miss him so much (he's in Indiana, I'm in CT). DH is happy to have his truck back (transmission repair) and now he doesn't have to share my car with me...though he got a kick out of me coming to pick him up from work. He referred to himself as my "kept man"... Clothes are getting looser - gotta go shopping as soon as spring truly arrives so nothing falls off. Gotta love NSV's! Tap - hope you're feeling better Babygrl - congrats on the baby girl's dance competition Beth - "crotch of hell" I'm ROFLMBO at all those...will be in Richmond this weekend for a college visit at VSU with DD - how close are you to that? Susan - congrats on the loss, blessings to you on your upcoming surgery! Back to work before the boss-from-hell finds out I'm posting on LBT...

I had a great NSV today! A client that I worked with about a year ago came in today and said "Wow, you've lost a lot of weight". Its nice that people can notice a difference too!

    My own friends don't notice???

I just hit a 50 lb loss a few days ago and NO ONE has said a word about it! My mom notices and congratulates me, but not one of my friends has said a word!! 50 effing pounds and NOTHING?? I feel so selfish and vain for needing the support and encouragement, but really! (my mom says it's because your friends see you so often, they don't see the gradual change) You're doing great!!! don't let this small stuff get you down; enjoy those NSVs!!!:tongue_smilie:

    I need some help

I agree with plain. The one day at a time is a very important concept. I too have gone through extended period where I did not lose weight. I have grown to live with the fact that this is an extended process. Even when I am not losing weight there is a NSV that pops up and keeps me going. My most recent NSV is getting into size 36 pants for the first time in 25 years.
