  1. OMG! I have so much to do and not enough time, I'm trying to get a cheap fly from FL to SD for next week it's not possible the one that I found returning time is not good for me. Can you guys suggest any site? I have to go groceries shopping for proteins and vitamins. BTW I got an email from Louise that I need to do a 3 days liquid diets and I have to take a laxative 3 days before surgery (YUK). I was hoping that I didn't have to do no liquids diet since I have a low BMI. After all this done I really hope I can relax hopefully, I'll be pain free.

    nervous and discouraged

vlp1968 you could not be more right about weighing myself everyday! That has always been a bad habit of mine. it didn't take me a week to gain it, so I shouldn't expect to lose it so fast! Thank you for your words of encouragment. I need that today.
  3. I just wanted to show this to you. I read thru it, and while I can't say where MY drugs given to me during my surgery came from, I can say I know I had AT LEAST 3 from the list. This is the list from the meningitis outbreak. Not to scare anyone, but to be informed. http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/ucm322979.htm Sent from my iPhone using VST
  4. Congrats....I have been in a stall for this past week, stuck at 188. After having a great meeting with the nutritionist for my 6 week followup and she documented an average of 4.5 lbs a week and now nothing. But I have not gained and hopefully the weather will warm up so I can get out and walk some more.
  5. Hi All, I just wanted to share that I am 4 months out and am definately noticing the change in my body. Yesterday I pulled out of my closet 2 shirts that I wore around the winter time, they were so big I had to give them away. My home scale shows another 7 pound lost, BUT I want to wait till it's official on my doctors scale. My doctor's office sees me every 7-8 weeks so my next visit is the middle of August, I will record my weight loss then. I'm currently at 1.85cc after my second fill and I don't think I need another adjustment, but we will see what he says.

    Fatigue

My incisions didn’t start feeling better until the end of week 2. I just finished the end of week 3 and have been making an effort to get more steps in by taking a few short walks everyday...it still makes me tired. Take your time and don’t overdo it. Rest when you have to.
  7. MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH

    2nd adjustment

Hey all! I am due to have my 2nd adjustment Thursday. I was just wondering, I already have 3 1/2cc (from 1st fill), should I have any restriction with my 2nd fill. With what I have now, I still feel no restriction at all. I can eat just like I did before the band (although I don't), but I am still hungry within a couple hours. I have been trying this K2O water but it doesn't feel like it is working cause its not taking the edge off my hunger feeling. Please tell me good news and I will be able to feel the restriction with my 2nd fill

    The Definition Of Restriction?

There is nothing wrong with getting hungry 3 - 4 hours after a meal. If you do then eat a healthy snack.

    The Definition Of Restriction?

There are a lucky few that can get restriction without a fill. Restriction, also, can be different than green zone. I, also, do not go 5-6 hours between meals, 4 is almost my max, but, if busy, I could probably forget to eat all day. Being satisfied and restriction, I think are 2 different things. For instance, I have had restriction so intense I couldn't get anything down. Green zone is being satisfied with 3-4 oz of protein, and a 1/4-1/2 cup veggies and maybe, at times, a carb. Best wishes for all to green zone satisfaction!!! Karen
  10. I am 12 days post op, doc said I could move to mushies and tonight I ate a can of tuna w/2 tablespoons light mayo and melted shredded cheese on top and 3 tablespoons hummus. Seems like a lot, what do you think?
  11. What is your struggle? Is it pain? Gas? Are you constantly sipping? I know we are all different and each work differently. I was sleeved the 27th. I have been very aggressive with water, not so much with protein. The first week I made my focus on water, increasing hour by hour and day by day. My first day I took in 17oz I made a goal to increase that to 28oz the next day and all day I counted and divided and said 28oz over 16 hours is 1.75oz an hour. I hit 40oz that day. I have done that everyday since. Over the last 3 days I have taken in 65oz-70oz and today 104oz. 100oz was my goal. I easily took in a gallon pre op and I didn't want to get dehydrated. It isn't easy, but it will get easier. Consistency is key. Good Luck
  12. I had surgery a little over 2 weeks ago and I still can't bend over to pick anything up without having discomfort (that's where my kids are coming in handy these days!) I still sleep with a heating pad at night sometimes because of the soreness. It definitely improves day by day, but it takes time to heal. No matter what anyone tells you, it's a MAJOR surgery!! Best wishes.
  13. Thought I was fine til I started playing w my 4 year old and my abdomen started hurting in that sore kind of way. I called and asked my Dr if I was stil on the 15 lb restriction, and she said til my 8 week appt! Is my abdomen really going to be this sensitive that long? How long til u could function w/o ANY pain whatsoever?
  14. It was about the three week mark before I could run/jump/move like normal. Remember, to place the band, they cut through a layer of muscle in multiple spots. You use your abdominal muscles for a lot more than you think you do. For the first couple weeks I felt like I had done a thousand sit-ups the day before. It does get better though! If I was really sore I would use a heating pad.

    starting to get worried

I had exactly the same problem. Ny doctor told me to screw the protien at furst and ti stat hydrated. I was obly drinking 2 cupa a day for the first week but then my sleeve finally expanded enough I could drink more and it became easier to eat things in the puree and soft stages. My doc told me as long as youre getting at least 2 cups a day (not long term of course) that it was ok. After 3 or 4 weeks it finally became much easier

    Worried about future wt loss

ipnurse2004 almost 3 months PO - down 39 lbs - kudos - glad you realize this is a great loss i "think" the fear of not losing much "more" after a bit, failing with the sleeve happens frequently to sleevers but.........you have a teeeny, teeeeny tummy - 85% is gone, down the toilet - FLUSH since you can only eat so much, you will lose !!!! the ONLY way you won't lose is if you graze, eat, snack all day long, eating high caloric foods i can see it in your cute little face that you won't do do a silly thing like that you went through a LOT, major surgery, I'm sure you will be compliant with all the rules - drinking, eating, proper portions et al do what your supposed to - we "all" have faith in you that you'll do great congrats on your success you'll continue to do great good luck

    Feeling down

You are down over 50lbs and almost 16% body weight in less than 3 mo. That’s awesome! Also, I heard once that typically you go down a size every time you lose 10% of your weight. Keep up the great work! I get sleeves on March 12 and am anxiously counting down the days [emoji51]
  18. The port incision is the worst one - it is raised and bumpy and red, very tender to touch but not hot. I've also got a light rash over my entire stomach but that may be from the film they cover you with. The only other one that hurts is the very top one because my bra rubs it all day. The other 3 are almost completely healed!
  19. Hi there! I’m just shy of 2 weeks post op from my RNY and I haven’t yet hit my target for liquid consumption. So I would say it’s totally normal as you heal that you find yourself full from meds. It’s only been within the last couple of days that I’ve been able to consume closer to 60 ounces of liquid.
  20. So my stall started at week 2 and lasted almost a month. I'm on the heavier side and expected quicker weight loss as a result. My high weight was 422, pre-op 408, and I gained 10 pounds Water weight in the hospital. Yuck. I quickly dropped to 387 two weeks post op and stayed there. For almost a month! Luckily, I took the boards advice and kept measurements. In my 4 week stall I lost 33 inches and that's ok. However, I am super pleased to announce that, on weigh in today, I lost 11 lbs last week! Yay! My stall is over! I guess I just want those that are struggling with stalls to know that it does end and you do lose inches. Just stick with it and be patient.
  21. I'm 3 days post-op and still in the hospital. I have so much nausea even with water. Did anyone go through something similar and how long did it take?

    Post-op Nausea

My doc gave me a prescription for zofran upon leaving the hospital. I used it for the first 3-4 days. The only liquid I could and still tolerate the best is iced tea. (Other than protein drinks)
  23. lauraellen80

    Post-op Nausea

I got some zofran in the hospital right after surgery, and it worked well. I didn't have anymore nausea until a little bit ago after I took my effexor (antidepressant) for the first time since surgery, hadn't taken any of my prescribed Pepcid yet, and definitely didn't have enough in my stomach! I ralphed all over my foyer but felt a lot better after taking a Pepcid. I just got down a 1/3 cup of a protein shake.

    Going back work?

I would recommend taking as much time as you can. I was extremely lucky to be able to take a full six weeks. I was fortunate that I had no complications too, and my recovery was pretty much text book perfect. If pressed, physically, I probably could have gone back after one or two weeks. The hardest part was the exhaustion that stayed for about the first six weeks. It helped too having the extra time to get used to everything. It was very much like having a brand new gadget without the user manual to go with it. I still feel that way sometimes. ???? Unfortunately no one can predict how their recovery will go, but barring a major complication, you should be alright. Good luck!
