I hate it when people post just to post.....

luluc-Huge NSV! That is awesome! Beth-I hope you get someting soon. Also, good luck on the classes. Diva-Hi! Fanny-the snakes scare the crap out of me! I don't know how you do it. PJTP-I had my first semi-public PB today. That was not fun. I know it was stress induced. I was eating lunch when something happened at work that was my fault (thankfully it wasn't as bad as I initially thought). Needess to say, the food that I ate didn't want to go down. I couldn't make it to the bathroom, but thankfully no one was around. How do you deal with stuff like that? That was so odd and embarrassing! I haven't had any other trouble since then, but I moved my fill out a few days just in case.

Do you need to lose those pounds you've gained?

Well now that the weekend is over I guess it’s time to get back to business as usual! I was a bad girl this weekend. Well, for the most part… I would be good all the way up until lunch hour and then I would backslide. My scale showed it too. I ended up gaining a whole pound in that time. But… thank goodness it wasn’t more! It could always be worse is what I try to tell myself. How do I know? Well I gained almost 200 Lbs in a matter of 5 years (maybe less), that’s how! I know I was on a tear – a good one – or however you want to phrase it. I know one thing is for sure though, I WILL NEVER AGAIN allow myself to get like that. This time was different… I caught it and now I’m trying with all of my might to take a hold on those reigns and bring it back in. I don’t think I’m doing too badly, and I will definitely not let any of my setbacks end this journey for me. The journey only ends when I reach Kingdom Come! So, today I have been a very VERY good girl. J Yay me! I’m drinking all my water; I’m setting my food rations for the day and I’m sticking to it! I got my walk in already even. Whoop! I feel really good! The reason I went out so early was it’s getting so warm here in California already. I love it though, truly! I’m a Cali Girl through and through. It is also that time for me. I can feel the cravings rearing it’s ugly head. It’s no wonder I had such a terrible weekend with my eating. I do want to say this though, and it’s a major NSV… I DIDN’T CAVE IN TO THE chips CRAVINGS!! Oh and I wanted so soooo bad! You have no idea, really. In fact, we were all driving to San Francisco to see a Giants Baseball game, and someone in the car had a big bag of Lay’s Potato Chips. Hey, don’t get me wrong, I’ll eat those up too given the chance. My brain was all fired up, wanting some of those little devil creations! I could smell em too… oh my… OH MYYYYYY!!! But, I didn’t do it. I closed the bag up and threw em in the back seat. I succeeded! Normally I just eat them and don’t even think about it – but not this time! I did great as far as I’m concerned. Especially knowing that this is TOM, where usually I’m tearing em up! Well, I won’t give up and I won’t give in. So that makes today, DAY 16!! Yeah! Over two weeks and counting!!!! Right now I’m drinking my Slim Fast shake and I’ll have some jerky after. I drink my shake first so my belly gets full, then I eat the jerky so it will prevent hunger later. Here is something I’ve noticed too however and maybe I’m onto something? With those little Slim Shots it seems my entire appetite is different even. The reason I say this is, I didn’t have any on Saturday or Sunday, yet my appetite was crazy. I’m really talking about that head hunger here. But, today I took one again right before my Cereal, and the head hunger seems to be quiet today. It’s a bit strange, but I think (for me) it’s helping with the head hunger too. I haven’t felt any REAL hunger at all yet today, except for right before my cereal. Well, I guess that’s it for today. I’ll see what the rest of the day holds – and I hope it’s good!

You know you are a bandster when....

When . . . every time the waiter comes to the table you rave about the food so that they won't ask (again. .) if anything is wrong with your meal! . . . you can't find anything to wear because all of your clothes are too big! . . . you have to go shopping to figure out what size you are! . . . you update your signature on LBT every time you drop 1/10th of a pound! (But don't update it if it goes up a wee bit before you lose again. . . Or is that just me?) :wink2: . . . you are no longer terrified that you'll get stuck sitting in the middle seat on a flight (and all the seats are much more comfortable). . . . you get hungry, you are REALLY REALLY hungry, but get satisfied with just a few bites. (I've learned to stop myself from telling people who don't know about the band that "I am so hungry!" when we sit at the table because then they think it's really weird that I hardly touch my meal.) . . . abbreviations like PB, WLS and NSV need no explanation! (Productive burp, weight loss surgery and non-scale victory for any newbies!) . . . you lose weight over Christmas and Easter . . whereas you always used to gain! . . . you read all 24 pages of this thread because it's just so true and feels so good to see that other people are going through the same things you are! Things I've learned reading this post: I'm not the only person who occasionally slimes directly into the trash! (Sorry . . gross!) And, I'm not the only person who wants to tell other people I see who are very overweight about the band b/c it's totally changed my life. This was the best thread ever! Catherine

PJTP... Mac - congrats on your Tri - I just read your account of the race and I'm very impressed. You make me want to try one at some point in my future! :wink2: Beth and Glouc - congrats on the losses! I have another appt with my band doc this week, so I'll see what the last month has wrought...I think I'm down a few, maybe not enough, but enough to keep going! Baby goats sound cute, but in the city, there's no place to keep them. Although I do have a cross-town neighbor in the more rural part of my town that has llamas! Luluc - little pre-teen girls fitting into your clothes is a MAJOR NSV! It's cold and dreary here in CT today - no outside walk, but I'll row tonight...getting close to the end of the term for me. Statistics class is kicking my royal behind...be glad when it's over! Back to work - no rest for the wicked and those of us whose department is trying to cut costs...

    NSVs

New NSV - I went to the thrift store on Saturday after the support group meeting. I bought a sz 16 pair of Gap Jeans and a shirt with no size. Got home and washed them and they both fit!! Yeah! I would have never bought anything without a size on it before! It was a cute top too!

Yeahhh Mac . . . great job. I cant wait to get back in the swing of things myself. I love your blog by the way. Beth, Gloucester . . . congrats on the post-fill loss. I don't know what it is but I always get great loss the first week or two after any fill. I miss my fill. Luluc, way to go on that NSV. Baby pygmy goats are just about the most adorable creatures on the planet and you made an excellent choice to go female (even if it was only by chance, lol). My son begged and pleaded for a couple of years to get some but I never conceded. I was afraid they would eat the trim off the house, lol. Happy Monday everyone. It is rainy and dreary here but hopefully a little nicer where everyone else is :0). It is funny, I don't like rainy days when I have to work, but a rainy day at home is awesome. I curl up in my PJ's with a good book and some tea, watch a movie, take a nap, make some really great Soup, etc.

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Good MOrning Ladies! Breakfast is over and I am just getting ready to do my Wii for the day. We had company last night, and yest afternoon I went into town to (finally) visit my MOM.. I thinks its been 4 weeks since I was able to visit. If you remember they had a RotoVirus that hit the place and it was on quarantine... She was so glad to see me, and I was releived to see her too. Mom was sitting in the lounge when I arrived watching her GOLF tournaments.... Her nose has healed very well, and the graft that the surgeon did looks awesome... And he isn't even a plastics man... an Ear, Nose & Throat guy... he was so nice to my Mom too... So that's one less thing to worry about now. My sister comes back from Mexico this weekend... That'll be goood for my Mom too. NSV yesterday for me was I didn't PIG out on the way home from my Mom's and I didn't eat any COOKIES while there either.... That place is a huge trigger for me, but I just kept telling DIANNA to shut the @$#% up.... THen when I got home I made dinner for our guests, they left around 9:30 so I did my 30 minutes of Wii then... Gosh, the weight it had me at was horrible.. but that late in the day I am just ignoring it and I'll take this morings weight instead... Well I'd better get at it... then work this afternoon/evening. Plus I am now wearing smaller clothes, I was wearing a size 24 and now I am at an 18 and they are getting big on me now. I am looking at going to an 16 soon. Keep it up January Hotties, we are doing great. Oh yea I almost forgot one thing. My Doctor told me that I am no longer need any more medicines for my sugar. That was the greatest news I had so far.

    Name Your NSV

My NSV's are loose wedding rings. I had to get new clothes and underwear and my bra's are too big again. I have so much energy I have to keep my walk going longer. I even bought size 12 pants and had to sew a dart in the waist of the. My husband said take them back and get a 10 but my butt still needs the 12 I had to explain to him. LOL
  15. I wish I had taken measurements but I don't have a measuring tape and never think to buy one when I am out shopping. However, I had a NSV today. I fit into a pair of pants that I have not fit into in years...I thought I would just share.
  16. YAY!!, that is a great NSV..I think the NSV threads are the best motivators!! Keep up the GREAT work!!!
  17. Hi. I recently hit a major plateau and was looking for something to feel good about/keep me motivated/celebrate, since the numbers on the scale were certainly not moving. I remembered that I had taken my measurements when I began my journey. I dug out the card where I had written them down and measured again. (bust, waist, hips, thighs, calves, neck, and upper arms). I had lost a total of 28.75 inches. Suddenly I felt better. If you are new and have not measured yourself - do it. Good luck to anyone who is just beginning this wonderful process!!! Becky

    Name Your NSV

This is an awesome thread! My NSV are starting as well. I can no longer wear my wedding rings ( I still need to find ring guards). I had to buy new (smaller) shoes. My feet are no longer a wide width. I have went down a bra size and a full cup size as well. I also had to buy smaller underwear. My outer clothes are about to the point of falling off, I'll have to be buying new before too long. I also no longer have the knee pain like I had before I lost this 40+ pounds. Everyone is noticing the weightloss and commenting on how good I look. I feel so much better and I feel better about myself.

    Post your NSVs

I had a pretty satisfying NSV last weekend. My wife and I were visiting her sister's family in GA. My brother in-law has not so good naturedly ridden me about my weight since we met 15 years ago. He was bragging about maintaining his 38 inch waistline. I didn't say a thing, but my wife told him "Bryan wears a 36 now". Needless to say, it shut him up. Bryan

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

CONGRATS Special K!!!! How awesome to hit that 100 pound mark!!! I'm back from my vacation. I think I did ok. I tracked my food every day, BUT I forgot my little food calculator book. Some stuff I remembered, some I did not. I will see how I did tomorrow when I step on the scale. I missed my wii fit, but we did some hiking and playing on the playground. Which reminds me.... NSV - I slid down the sliding board! I haven't done that in many years. It was fun! I was afraid my butt wouldn't fit, but it did and it was a blast. My son thought it was funny that I went down the sliding board. I totally enjoyed it.

    I'm here to help...

Laura I am glad everything went well - and you may feel some restriction - it took about 2 weeks for my second fill to really settle in - the 1st one I felt right away but it was gone within 2 weeks I agree with you on the tracking and counting calories and protein - for us fat chicks its really a great learning tool - I did it for the 1st year. I think he suggest this so that you don't consider it dieting - but I didn't consider weighing - tracking and measuring as a diet - but a way to learn what a serving size was and how many caloires are in the foods that I eat. As to your weight loss - who knows how it's going to go - I only had 1 week with no loss - I lost anywhere from .5 to 3 lbs - it varied each week - as long as you eat healthy and exercise the weight will come off - for some of us it comes off fast - for others it comes off slow and all those 1/2 lbs adds up - And alot of ppl may lose 3 lbs in one week and nothing for a week or so after that big lost - but again average it out and it will help.. I'm at my sweet spot - but being there doesn't stop me from wanting or eating unhealthy stuff - cuz as you will learn you can eat around your band - candy for example slips right on thru - even at my sweet spot if I wanted to I could eat 2 bags of candy ... So we can't rely on our bands 100% - as you will learn - most of the work will be up to you - but once you do get to your sweet spot - it will help alot. Congrats on your pants !!! I know how good it feels - and just know it keeps on getting better - that was the 1st of many NSV'S (non scale victories) that you are going to experience on this journey... Hugs - Janet

i thought i missed something - congrats on the NSV however !! with all that cake talk yesterday, i did crave something sweet - but i chose mojitos instead. DH's buz trip cut short, it was nice out - so we hit a mojito bar. i just about felt them coming back up while doing push ups this am - on my 5th bottled water and i'm going to be the best band patient ever today...:sneaky::rolleyes2::smile2: beth i still eat about .5c-1c of food at one sitting....avgs around 3-4ozs, but i have a snack or 2 a day as well. i'm amazed how some days i could care less about food & others i could eat all day.

Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!

Yes I did run yesterday. More than normal because I wanted to watch the whole American Idol results show while at the gym. So I ran 2.5 miles and walked probably another half a mile or more. Felt great. Yesterday I was in the kitchen trying to entertain my 2 year old as he was whining in the high chair. I started doing jumping jacks which he loved. I kept doing them and realized they were surprisingly easy. I kept going until I had done 50 of them and could have kept going for another 50 I think. Very cool NSV.
