Anybody else peeved at Lane Bryant?

Actually I am ecstatic that LB has gotten so expensive and boring. It is incentive to trudge on, to eat bandster portions, and to exercise daily. They've gone insane and I am happy. I love that I will never have to pay $40 for one of their cheaply made tee shirts again. I'm glad that they don't make 36 inseam Supreme jeans any more. I'm glad that they have converted to that new (nonsensical) sizing. I'm happy that their coupons are scams. I'm even happy that they never have my bra size in stock. I am overjoyed that they have become so inhospitable! I am so happy because I am leaving them behind! I am on my way to the Gap, BananaRep, JCrew, Regular stores! When I want to breakdown and buy something there, I come here. Seeing everyone's (many of you are on this thread) progress, NSVs, and before and afters makes it sweeter. For a long time all I could wear was LB, now I am almost at the point where if I do shop there it isn't out of necessity. Hurray! I love my band!

    Another Wonderful NSV

I had a Lane Bryant NSV this weekend too. My jean size finally went down one! I bought 4 pairs of pants because they started with a 1 instead of a 2!!!!! Can't wait for the scale to start with a 1 instead of a 2! Congrats to you Margo -- glad you hit the sales -- they are having a blowout right now!

    1 mont post op NSV

Banded July 1 and a week later I went shopping with my sister and her kids. I found a DKNy dress in size 18w for 15 bucks. Post surgery I was a 22w (maybe 24) but I wouldn't buy larger than a 22. I saw that coral dress n it was a steal at 15 bucks. I bought it for my trip to Vegas in September in hopes it would fit (kept receipt in bag had 6 months to return just in case i love Macys !!! ) anyway Well I tried it on yestedat 1 month to the day I bought it and it fits ... It fits and looks nice it might be a lil big next month but ill get the sucker tailored . I'm super happy and wanted to share my 2nd first NSV... The first one was walking Into an all tone favorite bakery and had no Desire to purchase a dam thing to eat . Ordered the cake I needed for a party n left empty handed... A first !!!! I needed to share with my lap band family because my real world friends and family get happy but don't see the joy way we do:)

    Surprise!

Fabulous! That's great news, love to hear these NSV stories!!!!
  7. Hi, i am 4 weeks postop (20 lbs minus) and had my first victory yesterday. I went to the same zumba class that I used to attend before. Yesterday, to my surprise I was able to touch the floor repeatedly during the dancing exercise!!! Before the LB my hand stopped at knee level and I was just imitating what the others were doing. It is unbelievable, I have never thought that I could ever do this...

Wasn't Sure Where To Post But...

LOL....I'm not too excited about that NSV as I have neglected to "weed the garden" for so long now I'm afraid of what may be lurking amongst the brush! Anyhoo...congrats on your weightloss

    Blood Test Results

Had my best NSV by FAR this morning!! I went and saw my PCP last week as I haven't seen him since my surgery. He was so impressed with my weight loss and incredibly supportive of the LapBand procedure. My two co-morbidities were high cholesterol and high blood pressure. I've been waiting patientely for the results and this morning the doc's office called with the results. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!:hurray: My cholesterol went from 240 :w00t: to 168:thumbup:!!. My metabolic panel, hemoglobin and everything else they tested were stellar. My blood pressure has been normal for a couple of months now. This is the true gift of the Lapband. I've wanted to be HEALTHY for so long and I literally cried after I got off the phone. I feel hopeful, empowered and proud....things I wasn't able to say prior to this surgery. Another VERY important part of this, is I now have the greenlight to start trying for a baby:smile:. I have an appt with a new OB/GYN next week. As I near my 6 month bandiversary, I would have never in a million years thought that I could have come this far. Thanks for letting me share my victory. Amy
  10. Hi all. When I post my successes, I am hoping to inspire and have it not seem like I am bragging because I’m not. I just remember well what it feels like when just starting this journey…needing to lose so much weight, it seems like an impossible task. Also, not knowing what it will be like living with the band, and dealing with bumps in the road, plateaus, etc. can be very challenging. Seeing as how I’m not ‘finished’ with this journey, I thought my little success stories can help the newbies and for the vets, remind them of their goals and successes as well. So…this weekend, I was in the Pocono Mountains with my son and his family at their summer home. No Myfitnesspal readily available to track food/calories but 7 months out, I have a pretty good idea of what band sized portions are and what is good to eat and what should be avoided. I plugged in all my food today and per the ap, did just fine staying in the 1,000 or so calorie range. I am also learning to embrace good choices rather than mourn food that is not good for me anymore. We were at the mall on Saturday because it was raining and we figured we’d do some shopping for the girls for back to school. We went to the food court for lunch…they all had the Chinese food….General Tso chicken and lo mein. I made the choice to have a half a tuna sandwich from Subway. It was very good and I could walk away from lunch with my head high. What a great feeling. And then to top it off, while they were in the children’s department, I went into the women’s section and did a little looking. I found Alfred Dunner work slacks on sale….size 16 short. My size 20’s are pretty loose so I figured I’d see how close I was to fitting into them and if close enough, I’d buy a few pair since they were on sale. Well…..suffice to say that I’m wearing a pair right now as they fit just fine. Hooray! Now I just need to buy some blouses that fit because the 1X and 2X sized ones I currently own are definitely too big. What a thrill all this is for me and so worth it. Hope these kinds of everyday NSVs helps to inspire you good folks on this forum.

Lol- I apparently started in Samoa and am now in Kuwait... Very cute Site. Thanks for sharing! Maybe these can be new NSVs as we progress down the line of countries... :0) Sent from my iPhone using VST
  12. Okay, I am not sure if this is what you would classify as an "NSV" but I went out for the first time with my family tonight to dinner. I totally did fine having Soup ( still on liquid diet ) and I even brought home a TO GO BOX!! Nobody's food bothered me like I thought maybe it would, it was our favorite little taqueria in town. I dont recall ever EVER bringing home to go boxes!!! Handled the soup broth like a champ and brought home enough for the next day!! Very Happy Gal! Cheers!
  13. Awesome NSV!! That's phenomenal. It really is a success and shows you're in this for your health and happiness. Way to go!!!

    booths at a restaurant

Lmao! That was me! Squish in and boobs on the table. Haha. Now I have inches of room and feel normal and comfortable. One of the best NSVs yet!!
  15. No I didn't cry, but you must make some really damn good eggs. There are hormonal changes going on and personal issues (your obese life leading up to this, concerns about your life post WLS, etc.). This is normal. Everything is going to work out for the best and you will be one of the many WLS success stories. Stay positive, you CAN and WILL succeed. Think of all of the positive health aspects and NSVs that will happen as you lose your excess body weight.
  16. Had my last weigh in today and so glad to finally get the 7 months over with. Feeling run down now after finally being able to exhale and flu and pneumonia shots and blood work. Just from pre op diet doctor already reduced the dosage of my blood pressure medicine and said I don't need to take my cholesterol anymore because the levels are not that too bad where after surgery I would not need it anymore. YAYYYY NSV

    From size 22 to 10 !

Congratdulations! I bet you feel fantastic. Happy NSV
  18. I am 3 months post-op and am tired of focusing on how much I have not lost. I’ve been eating 80-100 g of Protein, drinking at least 70 ounces Water, staying under 1000 calories and am active. I started at very high weight and expected to lose more than 45 lbs my first 3 months, but I am tired of focusing on what I have not lost instead of what I have gained. I am so grateful for my sleeve and my chance to live a healthier life. This is my ode to losing weight more slowly than expected and the benefits: More time to develop healthy eating habits before maintenance Skin has more time to catch up (more time to lotion!) Shifting focus to NSVs like sitting in booths and chairs with arms Less chance of gallstones Opportunity to practice loving kindness towards myself and being grateful for any positive change Chance to manage expectations – if it wasn’t for WLS, I’d be thrilled with my loss, so why not be thrilled now? Practice focusing on my own wins and not comparing self to others Not having to explain to others since loss isn’t dramatic (yet) Chance to trust the process and not focus on the end (self-care, water/protein/low-carb/active) Redefine success as how I feel, not numbers on scale Understanding this is not a diet, this is my lifestyle now, so what is the rush? Have you had a benefit to a stall or slower than expected losing?
  19. I have 3 big goals in mind - getting to onederland, losing 100lbs, and hitting a healthy BMI/goal weight. Of course, I'd like to mark smaller goals along the way, perhaps every 10 or 20lbs, but I haven't thought about any rewards. Losing weight is a reward in and of itself, as will be all the NSVs along the way! I love to travel, and will do it anyway, but if and when I hit goal weight (or close enough) I'd like to do something I've always wanted to do, but never could because of my weight (and lack of money), like learn how to scuba dive in the Great Barrier Reef, or climb Kilimanjaro, or go trekking to see gorillas in Uganda/Rwanda, that sort of thing. Of course, once I hit my goals I'll probably be thinking of plastic surgery, so it may be awhile before I can do any of the big stuff.

Scale and NSV today!! I weighed in at 180 this morning! I am on my way to my 70's!! 34 pounds lost total!! I had three different women today compliment me, they all know about the band. One said I was looking great, the other two told me I was wasting away, in a good, not demeaning way. Maybe I just need that extra boost but I like when people comment about how much better I look now. I am under no illusion that I was that great looking at 214. Maybe I still have some self confidence issues to work on, but it is nice to feel support any way I can get it.

    New SHOES!!!!

WooHoo...:whoo: Just came home from shopping with DH for some new leather boots. I used to be in a size 11 just a few months back, but came home with a pair of 9.5 Hush Puppies!!!! I am SO pumped about the NSV!! :clap2:

    Post Op Day 8

Congrats on your NSV!! I have a question: does every sleever get drains? I have seen some people talk about having to pull out their own (very small) drain and others never mention a drain. Thanks!!
  25. I bought a pair of jeans at Goodwill because I just can't afford to be buying clothes so that they fit. I am down to a very few outfits now that I can wear. A great NSV (and a funny one!) We were moving last week and I could feel that my pants were way to big. Well just as I got into the house from carrying several boxes, my jeans just fell to the floor! My BF and I were laughing so hard. it was a good thing that friction held them up for the last 15 seconds or I could have bared my behind to the entire town! And Fastpitch mom I also look like I have a load in my pants!
