Revision Surgery- Sleeve to Bypass
Nikki Jarvis replied to Nikki Jarvis's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
That is GREAT!! I I had my sleeve 02/24/14 and have since stalled no matter what I do. My acid reflux can stay at bay with Omeprazole but if I miss a day, usually by the second, I'm feeling it. I have an appointment with another surgeon to take a look at my records and see what he can do for me and if i need a revision or if I can be helped in other ways. My mom was sleeved about two months after me and she has stalled as well. She just diagnosed with GERD, I believe. -
Revision Surgery- Sleeve to Bypass
Titaniumsleeved2014 replied to Nikki Jarvis's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Well I was sleeved May 2014, my deciding factor was severe GERDS which actually completely stopped my weight loss from ever taking place... My sleeve was basically none functioning, I vomited in my sleep every night sometimes during the day this went on for nine months before I decided to start the process of having the revision since none of the meds worked. Since having the revision the GERDS is completely gone and that's a great feeling. I can definitely feel that my stomach is very small and I'm progressing nicely and I'm losing about a pound a day since the day of surgery -

Revision Surgery- Sleeve to Bypass
Bufflehead replied to Nikki Jarvis's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I have seen several people on this forum who have had this done -- you might want to try also posting in the bypass forum if you haven't btw. The ones I have seen have mostly done it to cure the GERD issues that tend to happen as a result of the sleeve. I have not seen anyone unhappy about it -- most people seem to do great both in terms of general health and weight loss. But as with all weight loss surgeries, you need to be willing to be 100% compliant with a strict eating program -- there is no surgery that will do that for you. Not saying you aren't or haven't been at all! But I have seen other folks here who are looking for a surgery, revision or first go-round, that will force them to lose weight without them having to work hard, and I don't think any surgery can do that. Good luck! -
Revision Surgery- Sleeve to Bypass
Nikki Jarvis posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I was sleeved in 2014 and since then, my progress has not be happening. I work with a lot of people who have seen a bariatric surgeon and their results are awesome!! After reviewing his website more, I saw that he does revision surgery, specifically he does Sleeve to Bypass. Has anyone read up on this, heard of someone else or others that have?? I'm curious to know about the options. -

Similar scars to sleeve surgery?
GSleeve822 replied to labradormom21's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you - I like it. I do not plan on telling my nosey coworkers WHY I am having surgery. Don't feel like dealing with the know it alls that feel the need to give their "just diet and work out" advise that works for them to get their extra 5-10# off. One of my other coworkers recently was sleeved and lost over 100# between the surgery and doing his part by being in the gym first thing every morning working out. "If he would have just gone to the gym every day, he wouldn't have needed the surgery." I told one of them the other day to go carry 100# of weights as they run on the treadmill and let me know how "easy" it is for them. They just don't get it and I don't care to involve them in any part of my journey. I already had my gall bladder removed and had a hiatal hernia repair at the time of my initial lapband procedure (now going for revision to the sleeve). I have reflux issues, so I just read that I can blame that on fibroid tumors that will have to be surgically removed when the peanut gallery sticks their nose in. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App I had fibroid issues in the past and had laporoscopic (sp?) surgery about 10 years ago. I am also using that excuse for myself at work. the scars are higher for the sleeve than the fibroid but I'm sure it'll be fine. I'm more concerned about the excuse of being sore... still haven't quite figured out how to explain the rapid weight loss but they do know I've been on the liquid diet do hopefully it won't look too suspicious Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App -
CAPS FOR SPEED, PUNCTUATION FOR YELLING.... MY FIRST SURGERY WAS A LAP-BAND, IN 2012, BY A DOC WITH A "WHO GIVES A SHIT" SMILE, AND A TON OF DOUBLE TALK ABOUT MY POST-OP INFECTION, AND DISTENTION - WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE A HERNIA, YET TO BE REPAIRED - MY FILL PORT FLIPPED, TWICE - THERE'S NOTHING MORE SOBERING, THAN WATCHING YOUR DOCTOR STICK THAT NEEDLE INTO YOUR ABDOMEN, AND IT BENDS - I WENT FROM 426LBS, TO 350LBS, TO 396LBS - FROM DAY-1, I HAD NO INTAKE RESTRICTION..... 2014, I HAD MY CONSULT FOR BAND REMOVAL, AND THE GASTRIC SLEEVE REVISION; I GOT DOWN TO 350LBS, USING A NUTRIBULLET, AND WALKING - 02/2015, AT 324LBS, I HAD MY SURGERY, GOT DOWN TO 288LBS, AND PLATEAUED - KNEE AND BACK ISSUES HAMPERED EXERCISE, AND "JUSTIFYING" POOR INTAKE CHOICES HAS ME CURRENTLY AT 290LBS.... I'M PAST BEATING MYSELF UP, AND HAVE EMBARKED ON A PATH OF EXERCISE AND PROPER EATING..... STAY TUNED!!!! Sent from my SM-G928V using the BariatricPal App

Emotional Effects of Surgery
Titaniumsleeved2014 replied to Angie74's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey, Angie hang in there I've been through this emotional rollercoaster you're going through about two years ago and since I've had to be revised I'm experiencing the same issues all over again and I believe it's worst this time around but I'm determined to get through it and you will too... Self pay and could cry over the amount, couple of questions
NICUnurseTN replied to mmorris4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm having a revision of band to sleeve. My cost to the surgeon is $2300. My insurance will cover one or the other, but not both. So, I'm paying the $2300 to remove the band and $0 for the sleeve. My deductible and out of pocket has already been met this year. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

11 months since surgery and I only lost 25 pounds. Metabolism destroyed.
Kathy812 replied to ab123.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you ever thought about getting a second opinion from another surgeon? I was following a lady on YouTube and she, too, lost about 25-30lbs in a year, she disappeared for awhile and returned explaining she sought out a second opinion & found out she needed a revision. Within 6 months after the revision, she lost all her weight. Hope you don't have to go down that road & maybe there's an easier answer. Just something to consider…… -

Having Lap-Band to Gastric Sleeve revision
NICUnurseTN replied to littlebare's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I've had my band for 10 years. I'm having a revision to a sleeve. I'm in the pre-op diet stage. I have Cigna and have to do the 89 days. I go back to the surgeon on April 18 to hopefully get a date. I've heard it's a little worse because there is more manipulation of the tissue. Some people have to have repairs to the esophagus, etc. I'm just hoping for no complications. Good luck with your surgery! I'm excited for mine!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
